Excellent food and very nice place. We had the Sunday roast. Portions are huge!

Never open when we went there no matter what time

Lovely location, along the river Kennet with seating out the front facing the river or in the rear garden with beach huts and extra tables. They sell home made cakes, many of which are gluten and dairy free, curries, pizzas and other food too. The Thai Red chicken curry is so good, freshly made paste that morning so it was very spicy but I was offered extra coconut cream to cool it down, such a big portion with loads of chicken. They do a prawn curry too with absolutely masses of prawns so they are really good meals! The Moroccan stew was good, very liquid but very tasty, the Turkish meatballs are really tasty with a tomato based sauce and rice. The carrot cake was amazing and we got a massive slice! The Mediterranean vegetable pizza with caramelised onion was massive and so good! The toilets are not the best, the hand dryer is far too high on the wall so the water can drip up your arm as you use it if you are not that tall, plus the air blows in your face while using it, but if you stand to the side it is easier. Other than that they are clean and tidy. Very friendly staff and amazing decor too! Would definitely go again! Oh and doggie friendly even having water bowls and dog food on a bar menu! We ordered two slices of Raspberry Cream cake which was dairy and I think gluten free, as you can see from the pictures they are massive slicesand I can say it was so good and light with fresh raspberries in the centre! We love it here! If you haven't already been I would put this on your list of places to go! Not only do people take their dogs along with them here, but also I saw a couple with their at on a lead come in and sit by door. All animals it seems are very welcome!

Nice location, but was poured 2 dodgy victoria Málaga beers and when I asked the barman if they were ok (tasted like the pipes weren't clean tbh) was told it was fine. So paid for 2 bad beers then left them. A shame as otherwise it seemed a nice place.

Really lovely internal decor and the outdoor area of the pub is great in the summer! Haven’t ever eaten here but good selection of draught beers and good views.

Very nice place! What surprised me is that they have somersby cider on tap which you don’t see very often and so many real plants everywhere which never happens in places like this 😃 great location too by the canal. Now we need to come back to try their food!

Great place and amazing home made cakes.

A small but hidden gem, a short wall from the town centre. It has the feel of a real pub, crossed with a beach hut - light, relaxed but still traditional. Also a good number of draughts on tap.

Another delicious aubergine, goats cheese and caramelised onions pizza, lovely and moist carrot cake with coffee, caffeine free tea and Guinness to help us though our Irish set in our favourite pub. Very friendly hosts as always. Thank you❤️❤️

Absolutely beautiful setting, delicious food that came quickly. Had the chicken parma, so good! The staff were great and the decor here is lovely. Loved the cakes too! One of my new favourite pubs!

I regularly go here with some of my friends for the biweekly pub quiz. It's a nice dog friendly pub that has it's own individual feel to it. The service is quite good I just wish the drinks were more competitively priced.

Lovely ambient, good food and helpful staff.

My partner & I have been here on three occasions - all of which the food was either mediocre or outright bad. The last occasion I ordered a pulled beef pizza and the meat was very burnt/tough/dry - apparently this is how pulled beef is according to the chef. In fact, I complained only to be met with a lot of judgement and tension. My complaint was not dealt with professionally. The prices are FAR too high for that quality of food. It’s a really pity because my partner & I LOVED the quiz nights and folk performances nights…. Its the kind of pub you use just for the bar.

We were there yesterday. Hot day but pizza and ciders were exactly what was needed- light, yet nourrishing. Just delicious. Highly recommend.

This is a dog friendly, cosy pub next to the locks in Reading. I went there to meet with new friends and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I saw someone else devouring a bowl of loaded potato wedges, and couldn't resist ordering my own. They were divine! There are picnic tables at the front of the pub, along the waterside, and there is a patio out the back beautifully decorated with beachhut booths with outdoor heaters in each one. 4 dogs were spotted inside last night and I'll be taking my own dog next time.

Friendly neighbourhood pub with not-fancy, tasty food (if you like fried things - the courgette fritters and crispy fried aubergine). The live music nights / daytime community jams and sing-alongs have a great vibe and really mixed crowd, so glad this place exists!

Always drifted past on our canal narrow boat. Finally had the chance to go inside. It didn't disappoint. Decent grub, pizzas, burgers, wraps, stir fry and curries. Good beers from Camden Brewery. Even got a dogs menu for your 4 legged friend.

Friendly, welcoming place to eat, drink and relax. I enjoyed a truly delicious Massaman curry, with a great flavour and heat. It's definitely *dog friendly*, even with their own home produced dog food. Don't be put off by the surroundings, it's located overlooking the Kennet and very pleasant. I would heartily recommend.

Superb pub with lovely owners. Good mix of beers and wines. Food is great too, Mediterranean small bites up to larger dishes, homemade cakes and desserts. Dog-friendly (and with home-made dog snacks available!)

I had lunch at The Fisherman's Cottage and don't really recommend the food :( Portion sizes were massive though- which is a plus point. Maybe I tried the wrong dishes which is why I didn't like the food but you can easily feed 2 people with 1 plate of food. The drinks were on point ! Great tap beer and fun cocktails at an affordable price. The customer service was decent - which means that I wouldn't return there by choice. The decorations were quirky and the place is dog friendly which is another plus point. They even make their own dog snacks (attached in pictures) and give your 4 legged friends a little bowl of water when you walk in. Great service for the dogs - I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing :D

We went here on a Sunday to try their Sunday roast. We ordered their Sunday roast pork and Sunday roast Lamb. Other foods we ordered were loaded potato wedges topped with cheddar, bacon and jalapeno and also their Calamari. Calamari: a bit disappointed since there were only 6 pieces of it. Not worth the price, though. Sunday Roast Pork: at first, I was so excited to try their Sunday roast finally- it was served, and it was not what I was expecting. I feel like the colour of the pork was not appetizing at all; it was too bland to look at. I was not able to finish my order since I couldn’t enjoy it, not just with how it looked but Also, how it tasted. Sunday Roast Lamb: there was An aftertaste which was not enjoyable for us to eat. Loaded Potato Wedges: it was great! I loved it; it was tasty and made me want to order more. I enjoyed it, and by far, the best starter on their menu. 👍🏻 The venue is excellent. I love that they showed their love for dogs and they allow dogs in their resto. You can sit outside by the river view, inside or at the back, with cottage-like seating.

Excellent food (if a tad pricey), good beer choice and some great events. Friendly welcoming staff too, and an interesting space inside and outside.

Food was good and fast, and the atmosphere on the inside feels like a comfy festival tent. And because there are different tables and chairs, everyone will find a place that they feel relaxed in. I quite liked it here

Stopped of for a quick coffee but ended up staying longer. Pleasant place, seems popular with good customer turnover. Pleasant staff and some decent music, not too intrusive. Nice rear garden and covered area. Also outside seating facing the river Kennet. Very nice

Won't be eating here again for the amount of money paid to the poor quality food dry salad no meat on lamb chops greasy wedges not good at all oh and I'm still hungry 🙄

Lovely cocktails, lovely service and nice little garden area.

This place has always been recommended to me to try! Finally, I was able to feel their ambiance and taste their food. First of all not the typical crowded pub place to go to. Which is good! They have few benches with tables area across the river and cute small garden at the back of the pub. Oh don’t forget the indoor setting… bright and feels light, not the usual dark vibe pubs somewhere else. Food wise. My boyfriend got a beet and I ordered a mango tiki shake? Which took more than an hour to make, they said they were busy but when we reminded them for the second time… seems like they have forgotten my drink. Soon after they deliver my drinks to the table, food came in as well. They have cakes and biscuits oh and ice cream but my appetite faded away with the long wait. Don’t get me wrong their food was good. But maybe next time for the cakes! They allow pets! Not sure if I wanted to go back here by choice unless invited by friends or so.

BEST PUB IN READING! Great food, great staff, good selection of drink and in an idilic location by the river. Can get quite busy in the evenings but never had an issue getting a seat. Lovely beer garden, perfect for night out this summer if you're looking to get away from the chaos of town.

Lovely spot to stop for a drink if you are walking along the canal path. Seats outside but off the path so you can watch the world go by.

Lovely pub .We were impressed as we asked for oat milk in our coffee ,which they had .Very nicely decorated inside with lots of different comfortable Ares to choice from .

Beautiful burgers, very dog friendly, adult menu was 11-15£ depending what you fancied but my goodness, everything was super. 9/10 would go again, they do play explicit songs though.

It was a birthday celebration. The restaurant did not disappoint. The food was fantastic. We had a mixture of pizza, whopping sizes they were. Aussie Parma and Moroccan Stew. If that was not enough we had Homemade cake which was truly epic. My daughter had the last piece of carrot cake. I am sure it served two! The owners could not be more hospitable. Even when we were the last and I am sure they wanted to call it a day. They were making sure everything was ok. Lovely setting near the canal. An area of Reading I had driven passed many a time but never visited. Thank you so much for a truly memorable birthday xx
