The food is great but the customer service is terrible. Multiple times I’ve been by the restaurant to order and somehow always end up there at a time when their kitchen is closed. The server we interacted with was rude and was taking the menus away from us even when we just wanted to look at it. He was incredibly unhelpful when we asked questions as if he was not interested in speaking to us. Managed to finally get a takeaway today and had the same staff member who had the same attitude again today. Not worth going any place where the customer service is not up to par! Hope it can be improved as food is great and so is the atmosphere.

Super cosy place with indoor and outdoor seating in Brixton Village. Now with Veg and Tings next door the seating area has now doubled. The plantains were super freshly fried, sweet and soft. My prawn roti, the prawns were super well cooked, the chickpeas could have had a bit more depth of flavour, but the tamarind sauce went super well with this. The roti plate was massive and super filling. My husband liked his jerk chicken but found it a tiny bit too spicy. We paid £41 for the two plates, plantain and one soft drink.

Absolute DISGRACE to call this Caribbean food, my grandma would be turning in her grave. Tasteless mutton and chicken stew. Dry and smallest portion for the price. 4 pieces of meat in each portion for £18. Scandalous. The coleslaw is like a free sample size - how can they charge for that pathetic size !? This restaurant makes an absolute mockery of customers and rips them off. The ginger ale - should be a nice Caribbean ginger instead it’s lame Schweppes. NOT NOT RECOMMEND. They are plenty of good places to chose. DO NOT CHOSE THIS.

This place is absolutely horrible. And as a trini woman this is not the epitome of what Trinidad food tastes like. It’s a real disappointment. This is watered down English version of trini food, with non trini people making this food. So it’s not valid in my opinion. I found hair in my food in this place on multiple times. Which is soo disgusting. Why was their hair fried into my fritter. That actually makes me sick. There’s always hair in their food. I will never visit again in my life. That is ultimately disappointing and disgusting.really a shame to Trinidad food.

I've walked past this place many times and it always seem to be busy. But it didn't quite live up to my expectations. I had the chicken with tamarind sauce, which was very nice. The rice that came with it, was a bit bland and dry unfortunately. I noticed the salt-fish fritters that other people were having did look amazing. Service really wasn't great as they were so busy and clearly short staffed. We had to find our own menus; we waited 15 mins before placing our order, another 15mins, before the meal arrived. Not great for canteen style food. We then waited 10 mins before the bill arrived. I could see they had a lot of customers, and were also doing takeaways. Our waiter was very nice, I just felt very sorry for him having to juggle so many customers. They also didn't have a lot of things on the menu - my first food request was not available, and the 2 drinks I wanted were also not available, so we ended up having tap water. I would have ordered the salt-fish fritters to take home, but they were going to take another 15 mins.

So being a South Londoner from Brixton I very much know some great Caribbean places to eat, unfortunately due to the massive change with the gentrification in London most places now are being catered to a certain demographic and most flavours of traditional foods are being watered down. I just might have been able to justify the pricing for curry goat with rice and peas at £13/14 if it was thriving with the flavours like how its meant to have, unfortunately this was not the case. the customer service was lovely here, I just wished the food & pricing matched

Giving a 5 due to past experience. Went again for the first time in a few years, and jeeeez the prices have gone up and the portions feel smaller.. Went with a friend and it cost almost 40 for 2 cans and 2 dishes that didn't fill me up. Can't complain about the food as it was on point. Feels like either the prices need to be trimmed or the portions need to be increased - although I understand why prices may have had to go up due to covid / lockdown. Ordered from Just Eat. I was dubious of the price but decided to give it a try anyway. I went for the chicken curry roti and salt fish fritters. Disappointed to say the least. It wasn’t a roti wrap as stated and the chicken curry was very bland with two boney pieces of chicken and the rest was potato and chickpea. It’s not acceptable to charge £15 for that product alone when serving such poor quality ingredients. The salt fish fritters, although a larger portion it was extremely salty and gummy. The sauce was at least quite tasty and balanced out the saltiness. Either way a total waste of money. There are much better Caribbean places out there that are worth the price. I won’t be ordering from here again.

I am always on the look for authentic caribbean food and wanted this restaurant to be the place more than anything but I was disappointed. When I came a year ago the oxtails were absolutely delicious the rice was a bit ' meh ' but it was easy to let it slide considering how yummy the oxtails were. Fast forward a year decided to try the curry goat and couldn't be more disappointed. It was the first time I have ever tasted curry mutton that tasted like nothing; literally no taste no spice , no heat, watery sauce . Quite honestly it took everything in my being not to question the chefs because as someone who cooks frequently, I can almost bet with good certainty that I was served beef! Goat/ Sheep has a very unique flavour , tenderness and fat content that this meat just did not have and also it was boneless! which isn't authentic at all. The plantains were a good portion but dry. The portion of food mainly the rice was also a bit scarce for the price point. Overall, I would say if you go, order the oxtails otherwise you may be disappointed. The food is not terrible but my search for authentic caribbean food in London contnues...
