Fish King in Rotherham

The service is what you expect in a fish and chip shop, no need for a good atmosphere, the fish and chips however are the very best, superb fish that breaks in large white delicious flakes, I never go anywhere else.

Was staying at the nearby hotel, so not from the area and not sure what to expect. But the chips were very nice and good value for money. If I'm in the area again, I might return...

Great fish..and glad you can get small or large sauces unlike others where now its one size ...small so youre forced to buy 2..access is a little better but not given indication how to get in

Absolutely outstanding food, nice location and they DO NOT have bones in the fish.

Started coming here at the beginning of COVID. They were loyal in opening and continued repaying that loyalty back. Had the mixed special kebad and ended up binning it. Very disappointed. It was stone cold even though I only went to Herringthorpe. It look as those it had all been chucked onto the nan bread. Not the usual standard but then again only one serving tonight when I called in.

Used to be a great chippy. But not any more. If you like bone in your fish and gristle in your kebab then this is the place for you. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

Fish King? What can I say about this plaice? Oh my Cod, what a chippy. Definitely the best in Rotherham. The food is always good whether you like burgers, kebabs, fish , pies ..they are all piping hot and delicious. The staff are great, they are up for a laugh and always happy to help. Would I get my fish & chips from anywhere else? NOT ON YOUR NELLY!!

Always quick with orders and bring them to your car if you are parked outside.

We visit fish king probably once a week and is by far the best chip shop in rotherham. Reasonably priced and never had a bad meal. Also the staff are really friendly.

Very good fish and chips, large menu with good options for those who don't like fish as well. Excellent service and like on busy nights will bring to car after ordering. Ever so slightly on the price side but good, if not massive portions

Donner kebab was the worst one I have ever had, tasteless meat and very salty, salad consisted of lettuce and onion. Very disappointed

The fish and chips was excellent as always The young lady serving was rude the last time I was served, My husband went today and said exactly the same about the same Young Lady it’s a shame because the rest of the Staff are so lovely polite and friendly.

I had a kebab from Fish King on Friday 04-03-22and I can honestly say it was shocking I have not tasted kebab meat like that it was one of the worst I have ever had a total waste of money and could not eat it….AVOID

Just had to throw our dinner in the bin. Have been going here for years and it's the best chippy around but tonight the cod was like a piece of hard greasy rubber.. it was like it had been cooked yesterday and used again. Absolutely gutted. Will not go here again.

First timer at this chippy. The Fish & Chips from here was absolutely delicious 😋. The amount of food was spot on! The staff member who served me was very patient with me so, excellent customer service.

Had often driven past and not paid much attention. My son moved into the area and visited. He came home singing it's praises. Well if he recommends then I must give it a try. Was I glad I did.Bit of a drive from our house but we'll worth the trip. Now my fish and chip eatery of choice. After 2 years of visiting we have never been disappointed with the quality. Something for everyone from Kebabs.Pies.Homemade curry but the traditional fish and chips and homemade fish cakes are nothing short of excellent. All served by friendly staff with the owner popping over the fryer with a cheery greeting.Is and will be my takeaway eatery of choice for the unforeseeable future.Highly recommended.

Very tasty fish and chips, service excellent, they take your order, invite you to wait in your car and then bring it out to you (note - for covid safety at this time I guess).

Adapted well to the recent pandemic, and became a trusted place to get great fish and chips, the guy that owns it always says hello as if his known you for years, the food is cooked in small quantities and is fresher and taster absolutely love it 10/10

Best fish I've ever had. Old lass behind the counter was a bit grumpy, but the fish was worth it.

Mad busy and very small. The social distancing methods are a bit messed. The wait can be long and it gets very loud with serval of the up to 10 members of staff shouting continuously. Not great if you get easily overwhelmed or stressed. Food is good though.

This is a great plaice. Been here few times over past few months, really like the online ordering and having food brought out to the car. Never had a problem. The food is very good, excellent white moist fish, properly cooked. £5.40 for fish, chips and peas ...great value in my opinion.

Great service, great fish and chips, good value for money

Used the fishking app that Listerdale fish & chip shop offer you to order your fish and chips etc for pickup. When returning home we unfortunately didn't get the full order as I was missing the mushy peas. Sent 2 messages but as yet I've received no reply, no money back or an apology nothing. I won't be getting my food from here again.

Went with family 4 adults ,2 children 8 & 10. had a good meal every one was full but still managed to force a dessert down by some persons needing to share. Not expensive, good value.

One of our regular places to have fish and chips. The staff are great. The manager is superb such a friendly and caring guy. It was close to closing time and they threw the batter out. The manager and staff made some more just for us. Would highly recommend! Food is amazing. Thank you again !

Messed up our internet order and were pretty unapologetic too. How hard can it be when it’s written out in front of you? Family evening meal spoilt after driving back to sort it out.

Cod and chips £5.40....excellent value. Lovely white cod, moist and chunky, no bones and well cooked in a crisp batter. Good sized boxed portion. Used the online ordering...food brought out to the car as soon as we arrived. Very pleased.

We had never used fish King before lockdown, but when we heard they were doing takeaway we thought we would give it a go. Its been a huge success for both my neighbours and myself. I've ordered for up to 12 of us online, and picked up at a pre agreed time. By paying on line, and giving details of my car it's allowed the staff to place the food in my boot with no actual contact so ensuring safety for all. The fish n chip special has been superb and great value for money. It's brought a bit of excitement and weekly cheer to my neighbours and I during some challenging weeks. Andrew and team are superb and we all highly recommend them and fish King

What has happened!? Our last couple of meals have sadly been very disappointing. Today we asked for a BOXED fish and chip meal with curry (£5.50) When it came in a carton we queried if it was the right meal, to be told that cartons are used for the BOXED meals also?? (Really not sure the quantity is the same) Also on arriving home we discovered the pot curry sauce was actually peas!! 😭

I ordered online yesterday in lockdown and our order was ready in 30 mins which was brought to our car in the car park We had fish and chips special 4 times and a battered sausage chips n gravy for the family Special included peas gravy chinese curry and chipshop curry all was outstanding quality I wouldn't have normally used this chippy but our usual was closed We will definitely be using Fish King from now on. This online ordering is the way forward I also called them before ordering and was reassured about how everything worked Great portion sizes and value for money I can't reccomend enough 5 stars

been today had a fish meal and it must have been left over it was disgusting it was burnt and tasted awful have there got new owners will not be going there again there should not be sending food out to your customers like this

Tried fish king tonight placed order on app paid in card collected within 20 minutes brought to our car Had fish special it was very very nice 4 of us had it everyone enjoyed it, Chinese style curry sauce is on menu too highly recommended

Had the pleasure of having fish and chips during the great lockdown of 2020 from Fish King, as they braved the situation and opened to serve the public albeit I guess under a conundrum of possible social pressure to keep closed and the pressure to open to survive. Fish king implemented a pre order system from an online platform that allows you to pre order which requires you to enter a pick up time and the vehicle you will be in. I have to say it worked really well and after arriving early for my order, the young gentlemen who brought out the order was polite and understanding of the situation and placed the order in the open boot of the car, so as to avoid any contact. In the whole the order of traditional cod and chips with mushy peas hit the mark. The cod was thick and juicy and had the meatyness of a well sourced and cut piece of fish. Well cooked with a well seasoned and tasty crunchy batter. Not too thick not too thin, just right. The chips again were cooked to perfection, not greasy at all and tasted great. I must admit after several weeks in lock down and the access to fast/convenient food limited, Fish King has shone as a beacon in the local area as a great purveyor of good food. Well done Fish King, I do hope you continue through all this and come out the other end shining brighter.

Friday night fish and chips , how have I not heard of this chip shop before . My first time using these. Chips properly cooked , the batter on the fish crispy all over . First time unwrapping fish and chips without the paper covered in oil . This will be my first call for fish and chips now. Well done to all the staff , well worth the wait for freshly cooked food in these trying times .

Fantastic from ordering to collecting.Great way to order through their website/app and all confirmed quickly. The service was quick and friendly and the food well presented/packaged up. It was all hot after getting home and was really delicious food, we enjoyed it so much and will be back again!

Just picked an order from here and its disgusting. The chips .... i counted about 10 have been in the fryer since opening this afternoon. Got to be the worse order from a fish and chip shop i have had the misfortune to have. Got two chips and fish specials.... oh they was special alright... never aeen anything like it... They think they can dish anything up because you cant see what they putting in your order because its click and collect. An absolute disgrace and obviously they are not answering the phone... do not order from here !!!!! Quality is minus 10 ..never again 🤬
