Best fish and chips in Doncaster at the moment. Everything we all had was absolutely lovely. Will definitely be foing back.

Called after work. I love the fish special. It is just enough. At £5.40. It is well worth it. Absolutely delicious. 👍🍽😋

Just passing through Doncaster on a long journey by car. Needed something substantial to eat and pulled over at Fish Bits - 35 High St, Bentley, Doncaster, this is a takeaway only. Ordered a medium 'fish and chips', this cost £6.40. The fish and chips were boxed in a nice cardboard tray with lid and then wrapped up in paper. I did drive a few miles to find a quiet spot to eat. I was dismayed to not find any fork or napkins, in the end my fingers were covered in grease with only the paper wrapping to wipe with. The fish was a good piece but the batter was dripping with grease. The chips were ok but too many, even for a big and hungry man. Average experience at premium prices.

After having a few takeaways from here during lockdown, we decided to try the restaurant. We live half an hour drive away so eating in is definitely more convenient. It was very busy which was good to see, and a great atmosphere with clearly a few regulars present. We had a salt & pepper squid for starter, the medium cod & chips with mushy peas and two drinks. The squid was lovely, cooked just right and the cod was perfect. Just the right amount of chips (most places give you way too many) and nice to have mushy peas that don't taste of their soaking liquid. Given how busy it was, the service was pretty good, and friendly too. We will return again.

I've been here before and had a lovely piece of fish and nice fresh chips. But I've had more times that I've been and the fish has been very thin and dry and the chips have been hard and chewy. My guess is that the fish is often left too long in the warming window and the quality of the fillets they get in goes up and down depending on supply so not necessarily their fault. The chips also I guess can often wait too long before being served or are cooked too long I don't know.My girlfriend is also a celiac and I've rang a few times to make an order to collect. The first time a lovely polite gent answered and said they had a seperate fryer they can use to make sure my gf's chips can be cooked in uncontaminated oil which was great. The second two times a woman Answered the phone and stated the chips are fried in the same oil as batter so can't be called gluten free. Ive said we have had gluten free before but she refused to take this on board and was quite abrupt. Last time the nice gent answered and very politely agreed to turn on the gluten free frier for us. I would say that all staff need to be made aware of the things the restaurant can do, especially when it comes to auto immune diseases that Cealiacs suffer from or allergies. On the whole though a decent chippy.

After the Nandos Debacle we contacted Fish Bits and were fortunate enough to get a table for 7 due to a cancellation. Excellent service and very good food. Nice cheery atmosphere, a pleasure to be there. Only downside I found was that parking is a bit hit and miss

I love this Place I come all the time and have Never been let down by far the best in Doncaster for fish and chips!

Decided to stop off on our way home. Covid-19 safety measures were in place and I was served by very friendly staff within minutes of joining the queue. Got it home and it was still hot and was of excellent quality and excellent price! Will definitely go again.

This restaurant must take the prize for service during the virus pandemic. We ordered online and were given a precise time for collection. we also gave our car registration number. The place has two entrances, one with a queue with 2 metre spaces marked on the pavement, for service at the normal servery, and another for pre-ordered food. We arrived a few minutes before the appointed time. A member of staff saw our car and came out to check that it was us. He then went inside and made up our order nice and hot and fresh. The bonus was that they actually brought our order out to the car. Brilliant. Highly recommended.

Only been1 never again the chips was hard not a lot of fish all batter and cold absolutely disgusting

Just called in for a take away after work.Completely overwhelmed I was given it for free as I had my NHS uniform on ( I am a district nurse, so we do not have facilities to get changed) The fish and chips were first class and even better that they treated key workers in this way. I can’t recommend this place enough, it was a lovely gesture that made my day Thank you so much

Me and my family have been going to Fish bits for over 4 years, its brilliant. My little boy has learning needs and autism and the staff csnt do enough for him, they know exactly how he likes his food and he loves going. We have not only had meals in but had takeout and it's just as good. I would highly recommend visiting this place, its great value for money, delicious and immaculately clean. Keep up the good work

Prior to the virus outbreak I dined in at this restaurant about once a week.Everything about it is outstanding the decor,cleanliness,approachable staff,lighting,air conditioning,seating and of course the food.Its not just a visit for fish and chips its a 'dining experience'.Nothing is too much trouble for the owner.Outstanding venue and truely deserves all the success it rightly deserves.Very very hospitable atmosphere.

First visit to this restaurant. Will certainly return. Excellent cod and chips whereby every piece of fish could be eaten, absolutely no waste at all and so tasty. All piping hot. Would certainly recommend. Very pleasant and welcoming staff.

Go here a-lot but don't think i sill fed up of getting horrible fidh grey looking taste very fishy too fishy. Hard chips

Great fish and chips, cod was very fresh, white and flaky with a good crispy batter.

Staying in Doncaster overnight, we read the Tripadvisor reviews of this place so decided to visit. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the choice of meals was impressive. Both the starters and main course options were well presented and the portion sizes were much larger than expected. (the 'medium' cod could easily have been described as 'large') And, just as importantly, the food tasted great, the onion rings were the best I've had in a long time!

Portions excellent, always plenty. The quality is outstanding, never had a bad meal from here. Usually always cooked fresh, even when waiting, always kept informed and not waiting long.

Our second visit in the past month. Surprised at how busy it was for a Wednesday evening. Excellent choice of food including not what you would expect for a fish restaurant (burgers, chicken skewers). The fish and scampi was superb and well presented. Couldn't fault the service or cleanliness and it is licensed.

Found this Fish & Chips restaurant on TripAdvisor and what a great little place. Great fish, plenty of other options on the menu and sweets as well. Good selection of drinks as well if you're eating in. 👍

Really good choice looks and tastes great we got the lunch special very good value chips fish choice of fish cake or sausage and a sauce gravy curry ect less than £8.00 for two of us also has a restaurant all looks nice and clean

We fancied some fish and chips so decided on Fish Bits. The service was excellent and the food freshly cooked and nice. We will certainly come again. Very good.

Had bought fish &chips; take away from fish bits but decided to eat in today and it was well worth it spotless restaurant very friendly and helpful staff and the food was superb the best fish I have tasted would definitely recommend ......

We enjoyed fish and chips from the takeaway side and took back to friends in the Friday club Doncaster. Same high standard of food and the amount was overwhelming and still piping hot. Shout out for the Cod it was massive and cooked to perfection, and tasted wonderful. See you soon Mr Fish Bits.

Fish & chips always consistently good, also any other food you may have. Very friendly staff. In our opinion best did & chip restaurant in the Doncaster area. Well worth a visit.

Had the Fishcakes and Scampi with sweet fried potatoes absolutely delicious. First class service and environment would fully recommend to anyone who likes fish.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant after seeing how highly rated it was on here, nice food for a reasonable price, big portions but not too much so that there is a lot of waste. However chips were a bit dry and some were undercooked. Batter of the fish was nice for the most parts however some bits around the edges seemed to be dry.

Visited today with the kids, food was lovely however the waitress who already had an awe full manner. When I asked to deviate slightly from the menu I was told it was a set menu and I couldn’t Order a meal without chips even though he wouldn’t eat them. Once I explained I’d happily pay the same price and just add an additional sausage I got a dirty look and was told she shouldn’t allow it.

Friendly staff, great food. One of the best fish and chip shops are have been to in a long time. I would definitely recommend a visit.

My wife and I visited Fish Bits recently one lunchtime during the weekday. They had a very good choice of menu and the service could not have been better. This is not a cheap casual place to eat because it is a little pricey, however it was value for money.

The best fish&chips; I’ve had ever. I would recomend 100%. The staff is very kind and helpfull, we did’t have to wait long for service. The Restaurant is small but very clean.

This place is always busy, and can understand why. The fish special is great and just enough for one person. Staff are always friendly and cheery. Great work. 👍

We come here once a month for our chippy tea treat for all the family weve tried many chippys in the past but they have never come close to you guys fresh batter and chips always hot staff are kind iv not had one bad experience from here highly recommend.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. There are plenty of well prepared vegetarian options. I have made quite a few visits with friends and the extensive menu means that there is something there to satisfy us all. Excellent service. Clean and bright environment. Pleasant,polite and helpful staff.

Visited with friends to Doncaster for a impromptu meal. Made very welcome by the waitress who was very professional and usually works in the takeaway next door. We all ordered different meals, and I had the large cod and chips, and this was Michelin Star standard. Followed by deserts although the ice cream just could not be finished because of the size and was a bridge too far. Wondering if the menu could be reduced because it’s so vast. Anyway we left a £5 tip for all to share.

We had found this fish restaurant on trip advisor. It was perfect for our visit, we were lucky being able to park right outside and were shown to a table straight away, our order was taken quickly, pot of tea arrived in minutes and we didn't have long to wait for our meal, large portions of delicious fresh fish. We had ordered mushy peas to share but they were so nice next time I would want my own pot. The staff were efficient , helpful, everything very clean, bright and spacious. Wished we lived close enough to visit more often.

Lovely chip shop, nice bit of fish and the chips are cooked nice and fresh. The evening £5 deal is crazy that would set you back well over a tenner down south easily. Would recommend wholesome and will be visiting again when in the area

First time visit but definitely not the last.

Parked in the free car park opposite the restaurant. Although there was no one to show our group of four to a table at first, we sat down to enjoy the scenery and menu. Drinks came first so we could consider the options then ordered later. Once again it proved why this place in Doncaster is the best fish and chips available in town. I ordered the large cod meal and this is big enough to divide for two people but finished it myself. Two of us enjoyed the deserts ice cream and some sort of milk shake that came in a jar. Definitely will be back for more very soon. Ps waitresses very professional so left a tip. It’s always the same high standard of food at this venue.

We're not usually into fish and chips but after the rebranding last year to make the place more "upmarket" we've finally made the effort to visit and it was definitely worth doing. The environment was clean and welcomimg and the staff were very attentive. There were a large number of options on the menu and the food was well presented, which is what most chippies don't consider doing. We ordered one of the sharing options which has a great variety and the portion size is decent but I'd recommend ordering one of the cheaper main dishes instead of the starters. Overall, it's a solid choice of place to eat in Donny and we would definitely return in the future.

Been to Fish Bits a few times and tried various meals on the menu, every time the food tasted brilliant. On this occasion we went for lunch, but we have been for dinner too. Customer service was very good from the staff, they weren’t pushy and were there when we needed them. There’s a great range of food to try on the menu, especially for people who like to try something new. They have the classics too. Inside the restaurant is nicely decorated with great historical ages of Doncaster. This was a great touch!

We frequently dine in this family run restaurant. The owners are very friendly and personable as are the lovely staff. The food is consistently high quality and would highly recommend this restaurant to HRH herself. Fantastic every time!! Thanks to John and Joanne x

Honestly Fish Bits is the best chippy in South Yorkshire! I’ve never had a chippy so good anywhere else & the variety on the menu is astonishing. Banging portions for the prices and food is always so good. 100% Recommend!

Seven of us had lunch here, three had large cod. Large is an understatement, personally I've never had such a huge fish! They were all perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The 4 others all had different meals, all were really good and well presented. The place is immaculate, as are the toilets. Two of the party have eaten here several times but the others were first timers, they all said they'd be back. It's the best chippy in Doncaster.

I visit friends in doncaster twice a year. I am from Hereford. We always go to fish bits while I am visiting. The food is wonderful. Cooked to perfection and nicely presented. And the staff are great as well. Beats anywhere back home.

As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with such a lovely warm welcome from the fish bits team! The drinks selection is brilliant! Beer on draught and beautiful fresh coffee.

Came with my family just before Christmas, on a Friday evening, we had some lovely food, fish, chips, chicken nuggets, and we also had desserts! Amazing food and amazing people! 100% recommend! 😊

What a great find! After passing many times we decided to give it a try. We were spoilt for choice. The fish and chips were superb,the fish was so tasty and a lovely light crisp batter. Homemade fish cakes with chunks of fish delicious. I am pleased to say we are now regular visitors. Enjoying trying other items on the menu. The staff are so friendly and welcoming too.

Went to chiropractor in Doncaster and on the way back saw this place and was starving .

We went there on Tuesday evening there were 3/4 tables only wasn’t very busy at that time but we had to wait for our food for a long time and couldn’t find anyone to give our drinks order .. front house lady wasn’t really helpful .. the way she brought our drinks in the table I felt unhygienic to drink that .. sorry not happy at all

Called for a impromptu fish & chip dinner on Thursday & received such a warm welcome. Although we’ve been here before numerous times & have always had good food & good service, this visit inspired me to write a review! We came into contact with 3 members of staff - all were really friendly & attentive. The food (as always) was delicious- piping hot & of the highest quality. Just wanted to say thank you for a great dining experience. We will be back soon.

Went with Missus & kids on a recommendation and what a surprise. Loads better than I expected when I saw it. Got to be the best sit down fish & chippy in Doncaster. Not just fish and chips either but that's what we had and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Lovely and fresh and lovely staff too. Keep it up.

Nice, clean, bright and modern fish restaurant attached to a takeaway chippy. It was busy for a Tuesday night with locals which says a lot. Food is cooked to order. Portions are substantial as you'd expect in Yorkshire. Tried the fish sharing platter which had a good selection of fish served around a nice mixed salad. Didn't cost the earth either.

Use Fish Bits once or twice a month (got a figure to think about lol). Food is always top class and if you get the lunchtime special the value is second to none in the area. Tried other chippys but always come back here. Highly recommended.

What a beautiful piece of haddock with chips, this is the best fish restaurant for miles. the food is always cooked to perfection, piping hot & served promptly. They have an extensive menu & my wife loves their Yorkshire fishcake.can't recommend highly enough.

The Restaurant was heaving & although we had booked it had slipped through the system But we were placed at a nice table Then a waitress took our order My partner ordered home made fish cakes & i ordered a special which was cod chips & peas

The service is good. The fish is excellent the batter is the best I have ever had. Portions very generous. Then they go and surprise you with a kebab made in heaven. Nothing negative about our visit. Great food and reasonable value for money.

Visited this restaurant today with my husband and what a pleasure it was the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you, We ordered the fish bits special and my god I've never tasted fish as good everything was perfect and they have a loyalty card so you have it marked every time you visit and get a free meal when you have so many stamps, Its a lovely place and decorated to perfection

Went quite late with my family to try out a new fish and chip shop and get the door slammed in our face by a stroppy employee telling us that they have closed at quarter to nine when the door clearly says they close at 9, very bad

I have travelled the world and seriously I have still not been able to find a place that beats Fish Bits in Doncaster for 100% satisfaction and quality. This place is a family favourite that has not been beaten and probably will never be either.

Lovely staff very clean and comfortable. The haddock and chips we ordered were cooked to perfection and to top it all they served my favourite wine a glass of red Jack Rabbit, we came back again and it was just as good, Will be visiting again soon.
