Very nice restaurant/bar. Nice music for a romantic dinner date Had the rump steak with fries and garlic bread/ cheesy Garlic Bread. All very tasty Really enjoyed and I definitely recommend

Not much to say, run in the mill steakhouse experience. Waitress, whose name I can't recall, did not have much knowledge of the menu. Steak was overcooked.

Great bar and grill, we had a squid starter and two excellent steaks. The service is superb, super friendly and unhurried, we were really well looked after. Big recommend :)

Very disappointing. The burger was so small, we asked if it was a child’s portion. The cheesey chips were covered in some sort of non-descript gloopy dark yellow stuff. The service wasn’t great. Very expensive for what you get. We used to love the Firehouse and very much hope it will be better in the future.

Ridiculously dissapointing given the price; At around £30-40.00 a head and marketing itself as a fancy and pricey restaurant, you would would really expect it to be good. Half a dozen people in my party, all of us easy to please kinds of people, and not one meal was what you would call good/decent. Several things were dissapointing to the degree it felt like false advertising or lies. Lots of mistakes that even an amateur cook wouldnt make in their home kitchen... very much left with a bland, dissapointing taste that for 30.00 or more avg. transaction per person is absolutely unacceptable. Ive had tastier school dinners. Avoid it as its gone downhill.

Visited 07/02/24 Wednesday .Excellent place for food I had chicken burger was big and starter braised beef croquettes. Good selection of wines beers etc. very friendly polite staff.

Wow i thought I was in London with £7 for a pint of keg beer, amazing when The Sloop local pub has tribute at £3.95 in Jan/Feb. This is price skimming in every sense. Why is a pint of St Ives beer so expensive when it’s £4-5 in most other local bars.

Good food and drink, good service

My husband and I (and our spaniel) had a wonderful meal here this evening. We booked on their website, but we could have been accommodated as a walk in, as there were some empty tables. My husband had the crab linguine, and I had the moules frites - both were superb. Decent portions and very flavorful. The ladies serving on tables and behind the bar were both lovely and very attentive. We couldn’t fault anything at all and would highly recommend eating here. Oh, and they make a mean Pornstar Martini!

Excellent service, fantastic food

Fantastic menu made with real quality and finesse. The cocktails are lovely. And the rum I tried distilled by the bartender were incredible smooth. Great atmosphere for me and my partner.

Just a lovely place to have a meal and a couple of drinks, we all had steak that was cooked to perfection from rare to medium and each one was excellent, great guy who served us making feel relaxed and at home, we will defo return soon.

Highly recommend this place. Friendly staff, quality food and cocktails. Busy yet nothing was too much trouble and food arrived in great time.

What a disappointing visit. After being coming here for NYD eve for the last 2 years this visit unfortunately will be the last. Our food came out cold (Garlic Bread) which was also soggy and I had the mussels which were cold other than the sauce at the very bottom. I asked for bread and butter with mine which there was nothing wrong with. We sent it back, and the garlic bread came out worse than before and instead of bread and butter I received garlic bread which we’re pretty certain was the original one and again was flat cold. Toasted on side and bread on the other side. We were then told that focaccia bread is always like that.. it isn’t and hasn’t been on our previous visits. So we paid for our one drink and left. St Ives is always very busy, so we had made sure we had a table booked, everywhere else was full, so we ended up getting a kebab and taking it back to ours. Oh, the plastic sandcastle bucket that was provided for my shells was tacky and does not reflect the warm ambience of the firehouse. Sad that we’ve had this experience.

Dropped in unexpectedly for food and a drink and with a warm welcome and amenable to walk ins, was seated in a perfect position in the lower floor of 2, but with a view of the whole of St. Ives Bay. Service was very friendly and easy going. Choice of local drinks and food available. We had the ribeye, with port and stilton sauce and a crispy chicken burger. Had the most amazing bespoke to Firehouse Chilli gin. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone who aspires to find good local food and drink.

The most overpriced restaurant I’ve ever visited, the food was disgusting and charcoal cooked . Not impressed !!

We are locals, ordered an 8oz steak, asked for no rocket. When the meal arrived it was a steak and a grilled tomato. In no way could you call this a meal. No value for money, will not be back.

Food was alright/good BUT.. 1) waitress got the order wrong 2) was slightly passive aggressive/impatient 3) unhelpfully suggested sides that the meal already came with(!?) 4) To add insult to injury, there was a hidden service charge added to the bill which makes the meal even more expensive. I would not eat here again. (Visited Oct 2023 -and still remember how poor the experience was that I am posting the review 2 months later).

My husband and I and our 3 year old had an amazing meal here yesterday, the food was unbelievable and the atmosphere was cosy and chilled. The kids chicken nuggets were great and she scoffed the lot…unusual for her! We highly HIGHLY recommend the pork belly starter (we had one then ordered another!) and the ribs started…WOW! We will be back 100%

We travel to St Ives every year around this time, but it has been a few years since we visited Firehouse. And I'm disappointed with myself about that, as this year's meal was hands down the best I've had in St Ives, let alone this restaurant! Despite being a busy night the service was excellent and food arrived promptly. And that food was superb! I highly recommend the belly pork starter. For dessert I didn't really want much... it wasn't on the menu, but I asked for an affogato and it was no problem. It even came with a little jug of biscoff crumbs in case I wanted them! We will be back next year!

We have never experienced such dreadful service in all the years of eating out in restaurants or even fast food places. The waitress was just not interested slamming around continously chatting with a colleague loudly it became comical it was so bad. A group of 4 people came in and sat down and after ordering called the waitress over to explain quietly that she wanted the kitchen to know she was allergic to seafood. The waitress replied with a raised voice that she couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be cross contamination but would let the kitchen know. She then stood in the middle of the restaurant with a phone and rang the kitchen to tell them very loudly for the whole restaurant to hear it was embarrising she also explained very loudly to the same table that if they wanted a steak well done it would mean a delay on the food . Another member of staff arrived a male who proceeded to remove his top clothing layers whilst standing behind the bar surely staff should be ready to work when they arrive not get ready in front of people eating . It's such a shame we thought the food was fabulous but the whole meal was ruined by the serving staff it was ridiculous . We deducted the service charge and wouldn't eat there again if it was free.

My wife ordered a steak, had to pay extra for chips to go with it and also paid extra for pepper sauce. I had a steak and ale pie, had to pay extra for mash to go with it. Then on top of that they add a 10 percent discretionary service charge. Really poor value for money and obviously won’t return. No doubt that places like this will be complaining soon that the hospitality sector is really struggling and can’t make ends meet. Other places in St Ives that just do it better were still busy!!

A cosy restaurant with excellent service and delicious well cooked food. I would highly recommend the Firehouse !

Staff having period just because you entered an hour before they close. Never again.

Extremely rude staff. Upon entry some lady was laying her feet on the bar stools (a person who i believe is supposed to welcome and seat customers). She just thrown „can we help you?” Without even taking her feet from the stool! Sorry for entering your premises one hour before you closing time! Owner should really review staff and the customer service level as its below any standards.

For's: Excellent food and drinks with good service with Lovely presentation and was timely with serving to the table and great views over the harbour. Against: I will say I dont think it's fair not to be given a choice at the added Service charge upon payment and was not shown or made aware of this beforehand and is compulsory on the hand held payment device when you get your bill as a charge added percentage for service on the bill as i found out at the point of payment. Dont mind giving a tip but it should be at the discretion/choice of the already paying customer not demanded on a digital hand held display...as I did frown upon this.

Table of 4 - visited for Michael's birthday dinner. Food was superb, portion sizes were great, atmosphere excellent and service was fantastic. In particular Connor, who went over and above and is a real credit to Firehouse St Ives.

Absolutely amazing food and the location is amazing as well The staff were lovely and helpful and we did not feel rushed and hen the starters and mains came OMG the wait was worth it as the 🍤 I had and the mussels my partner had were too draw then the 28 day steaks 🥩 came out cooked to perfection and tasted amazing Will definitely return great service thanks to all Andy and Tracey

Great service and great food. Lovely cooked steak, possibly too many chips but can’t complain at that ! Really enjoyed attentive service and a great evening out. Would certainly come back if we are back in St Ives

Didn't find this place very welcoming, Scottish guy was quite abrupt talking over us, wait wasn't to long only you pay for a steak & you get only a steak, chips or salad extra, I don't mind paying £20 for a steak only it was dry, son added a salad all that came out was a load of thin scrappy leaves, nothing else.. it looked so poor on the plate. *Note to the Scottish guy* Let ppl talk don't talk over them & try being more friendly to your customers. Wouldn't return as a burger from McDonald's would have been much nicer than our meals.

The food was absolutely amazing however the service was quite slow, took a while for our food to come out. Also they didn't tell us that there would be a "service charge", they should make this very clear when booking, we didn't appreciate this and unfortunately it tarnish the experience slightly. If you have to provide a service charge it begs the question are you paying your staff fairly? If you are then why would you need this forced service tip?

Steaks were stunning. Go for the buttered greens instead of chips. I did and they were a great change from the norm.

Good food although £2.75 for bbq sauce is an absolute joke. Burger doesn’t come with chips which are also pricey for what they are

Good service, well served beer and the food was tasty. I had the mixed grill which included one of the nicest steaks I've had in a while. The burgers and children's menu were all enjoyed. Had the ribs this time, may I suggest you go there hungry.

Lovely staff, great food & drink

This used to be our go to place every week roll on a few years,Lunchtime special gone,insane prices,chips an extra charge,and 10%service charge at the end for what some teenager in shorts and a pair of dirty trainers,to ask what you want?need to be more upmarket to charge these prices,and no smelly dogs that have come of the beach!!also one mens urinal and it was out of order,how this place has gone downhill,sadly we won't be back.

Came to Cornwall for a week and this was by far the best meal. Ribs literally fell off the bones and steak was like butter. We’re not local but would definitely come back if nearby!

Lovely bar and the food was great. I got the chicken and ribs and it really was lovely. My partner wasn't as enthused over her linguine but she admitted she probably ordered the wrong thing.

Attitude of staff is less than caring when you inform them that items never made it to your table that were ordered.

Had a table for 5 tonight at 6pm for my mums birthday. Whatever your doing please don’t change a thing, everything was amazing 🤣

Everything was great across the board, service, food, drinks & atmosphere. The dishes I had were better than similar dishes I’d had at H*ckorys.

Extremely overpriced food, all sides are extra, meals don't even come with chips or a salad. Also 10% gratuity is added to the bill, sneaky! Best part is the upstairs view! We won't be back.

Our first time at Firehouse but it definitely won't be our last. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have booked another table for Saturday. Very clear menu with plenty of gluten free choices. I had the rotisserie chicken with salad greens, coleslaw and a side of sweet potato fries, which was delicious. Robert had steak and regular fries which looked equally good. Its not cheap, but the £30 each it cost for a main meal with sides and one alcoholic drink was worth every penny. Nice ambience, lovely background music (and not too loud) and the service from Rose, our waitress, was excellent. She couldn't have been more helpful. And they serve food until about 9.30pm and close about 11pm, so if you want to maximise your time in and around St Ives and have a late meal to finish the day off in a lovely restaurant, Firehouse is a great place to go. I highly recommend it.

Eat here twice this week food is very good First time I had the mixed grill that was a mountain of meat lol Steak,gammon,pork chop,lamb chop mini steak and Guinness pie black pudding chips Wife had a burger both was amazing full of flavour 2nd time. Both had steaks Again full of flavor knife just sliced though the steak Amazing home made crème brûlée Staff was loverly aswell.. Great views out towards the sea aswell

We have been to this restaurant before, and were not disappointed this time. The food and service are of a good standard, and the restaurant is in a great central location within the town. My only gripe about the night was the fact that there were a few dogs in the restaurant (which I don’t agree with anyway), and one of them was barking constantly, which became very annoying. I know the restaurant is attempting to accommodate dog owners, and we’re in an age where there are more dogs than ever (some people aren’t satisfied with one, but have to drag half a dozen round with them), but it’s a restaurant not a pub where they can be kept outside. Having said that, nice place, good food and service.

First, the food was great , well cooked and well presented, but the service was not to the same standard.. The staff on duty were busy and we accept that , but no one came to ask how our meal was , or to check if we required more drinks etc , so after dessert, we sat for around 45 mins to an hour with no drinks / interaction from the staff , obviously we could have got up to the bar and asked for drinks , but that is not the point in my view ..so we removed the 10% service charge , and paid the correct amount, as we did not feel that anyone had gone above or beyond to justify another £24+ added to our bill for the evening. Firehouse is a great place to eat , just disappointed with that aspect of the evening..

We went here for lunch after walking past and seeing their enticing menu. The staff were very attentive and welcoming, creating a lovely environment which didn't become stressed even when the place filled up very quickly. I found Buffalo wings - one of my favorites listed as a starter, but the portion was great even as a main course. A memorable meal.

Got here shortly after it opened at 12 and got busy very quickly and I can see why. Great service from the 2 very friendly and helpful staff and amazing food. Best chicken burger I've ever had

Staff were polite but service slow and serious. The food was spot on, overall quality first class. Whilst prices seem a little expensive and a 10% service charge is added ( personal preference free to tip), fours mains plus 2 rounds of drinks circa £90, was good value for money given portion size and quality. Restaurant nice but if you are on top floor toilets 2 flights if stairs down and not well signed.

Food was all beautiful for 6 of us, juicy burgers (big burgers) with the most amazing parmesan and truffle fries. Chilli crab linguine was soo yummy. Mac n cheese was so cheesy with a lovely crumb on top! And had the BEST coconut and chilli cocktail!! Lovely place inside. Friendly staff. Food was great. Second time here and can’t wait to come back!

We just got back from a great holiday in St Ives & had to leave a review for Firehouse. Myself & my husband had an amazing Fillet Steak. Would high recommend. Beautiful restuarant & friendly staff.

Absolutely fabulous!! Popped in for an early Sunday lunch with our two dogs. The team were lovely and very accommodating with the dogs. My partner had the mix grill and it was outstanding! Especially the mini guiness pie! I had sea bass fillets and it was cooked to perfection. Thank you and we will be back!!!

We really enjoyed our evening here: the food was great (we had steaks) and the staff were all really friendly.

Massively overpriced, steak heavily seasoned, rude bar tender who didn’t look like she was doing much and missing food. We came in as a family of 3; 2 adults and a 2 year old, we both ordered steaks and a child’s Mac & cheese. Steaks were covered that much in pepper we couldn’t eat it, I like my pepper but this was eye watering!!! The Mac and cheese was fresh out the microwave (all stuck together and not fresh) my daughter didn’t eat this and just had the chips. All sides are at extra cost (sauce, chips, onion rings) which we knew about but we don’t mind spend money on quality food which this was not! Our bill came to £90 for the 3 meals and 1 drink each We had been in the restaurant 25 mins and witnessed the lady behind the bar be very vocal & rude to 2 sets of families, not welcoming at all! The standard 10% tip should be removed as surely tips should be earned not expected, this will be the last time we visit this place..

Do not waste your money and time going here unless they change their meat supplier. The waiter and waitress were great however the rib eye steak which was cooked to medium rare was extremely tough and tasteless. Only by pouring over the sauce made it palatable, however the majority of it I had to take back out of my mouth. Such a shame. We definitely would not return and would not recommend a visit here. There are so many more better restaurants to spend your hard earned cash and time on.

Having tasted so much quality fish and seafood around St. Ives we needed a break and opted for steak. I ordered rump and wife the rib-eye...my 10oz rump was smaller than the 8oz rib-eye and was mostly chewy with gristle..it was terrible. A master class in how not to serve steak. I would not recommend this place. Stick to every other restaurant in St. Ives as this is just terrible.

For what a total strangers opinion is worth to you, we thought it was excellent 👍 relaxed atmosphere, efficient service without any clichéd trained nonsense and the food was really tasty. Burgers and fries executed with care to a high standard.

We ordered a medium rare Sirloin Stake with Fries and a Burger. The meat came medium well and didnt taste good at all, the burger was really small for the price and the worst ive had in a long time. The fries were decent but nothing special. The waiter was really unfriendly and slow. For me never again i cant recommend.

We come to St Ives several times a year and I’ve reviewed this place before. Our waitress tonight recognised us from previous visits. I’m afraid to say that our visit here these evening is our last. The front of house manager was so incredibly rude...

Had a great meal with the family. Food was amazing, great vibe to the place and the cocktails are quality. Well done Firehouse!

We arrived about 6.30ish, around the time that many people started arriving to get unreserved tables. Many were turned away due to no tables available. The place has a modernish look, and the guy who served us had a pleasant, upbeat, welcoming attitude. Customers seemed to be mostly duos and couples with the odd child, and later a dog at the bar. I found the front of house guy particularly good. The food (mixed grill) was mostly enjoyable, badly let down by kale stalks (green veg in butter sauce) that were very tough and should have been removed, or the kale swapped for another veg, like green beans - ideal. I was with a friend, and didn't take the usual photos.

Had a lovely time at the Firehouse in St Ives, the food was good along with the atmosphere. Although a small negative as you have to pay extra for chips with your burger. Make it on the expense side..

Turned up without a booking but got seated right away. Straight away we were brought water for the table. The menu had enough on it to choose from and the food itself was amazing. Would highly recommend a visit.

This place is fire indeed🔥🔥🔥. Visited on 15.08.23. The food taste is out of this world. We asked to be sat upstairs with a sea view and we got that. The service is exceptional, didnt wait long for the food. I wanted to see the chef just to give my appreciation but unfortunately we couldn't see the chef. His name Josh.. Josh you are indeed an amazing chef keep up the good work.

Had an amazing evening meal here . Superd startwrs of pork belly ,follwed by fillet steak. All cooked perfect. Staff all happy and service was great .fantastic view from windows of harbour if you can get a seat there .defo reserve a table .

First of all sorry no photos as meal was so great. I booked the meal well ahead for two reasons 1: when I first went, in the welcome was so good I felt like a customer 2: The food and atmosphere was really cool looked great So Monday at 8pm arrived we were looking forward to a big meal I'm gluten intolerant with a tendancy if an issue may have an anaphylactic shock. So I checked and was made aware of plenty of choices. We were informed of my choices and so I made a great choice. Ribeye medium rare with slaw and sweet potatoe fries. The sweet was exquisite Creme brulé and this was the best ever tasted The food was amazing and tasty for my partner and daughter I was treated with care by the staff and to be honest our server checked twice with the menu and allergies chart and the chef. I wish to thank the owners the chef team and of course all the hard working serving staff Well done 👍 great evening Oh nearly forgot well behaved dogs allowed and as the food smelt so great he went into a hypnotic trance So I felt happy and safe sound Will I visit again oh yes On our list now

While to atmosphere and appeal of this restaurant is great, I believe the kitchen was unfortunately a fault. It took over an hour to receive out food, and 2 of our 5 dishes had to be sent back, even though our table was explicitly precise about our orders and how the dish should be prepared without particular ingredients. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were more than nice and interactive. One of our waiters actually decide to surprise us with freshly squeezed lemonade after making an initial inquiry if their lemonade was handmade or bottled. The brisket and Mac and cheese is a bit odd, it’s more like a pie with lots of other vegetables to include shallots and garlic. Perhaps an update to their menu? Also, it appears that their printer used to make the menus needs to be realigned. Towards the end of the menus, the front begins to play tricks on you 😅 I’d probably give this restaurant another shot once in St. Ives again.
