Filippo's Italian Pizzeria Restaurant in Horsham

We had a wonderful evening. Very attentive front of house. We stayed for hours. Longer than we had intended because it was so welcoming and inviting. Food was great! Huge portions - I had to take some home. The tiramisu was the best I have had outside of Biella, Piedmont. Will be going back again. And again. And again!

The food was great. Pizzas were huge and hand made to perfection. The wine was lovely, really recommend the Sicilian house white, even if it’s a bit too easy to drink! Dessert was great too! The best part was the service though, very attentive and they went out of their way when realising we had left items behind, going out of their way to search the bars of Horsham to find us and return them! Thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic food value for money and great service . The waitress was amazing and very helpful in our food and wine choices. They even wished my wife a happy retirement on the receipt!!

We discovered this family-run restaurant quite recently and feel it deserves some serious recognition. We have been back several times already, mainly due to the extremely high quality food. Every dish we have tried so far has been sublime. It is evident that the quality and freshness of ingredients is of the highest priority here. My personal favourite is the Rustic pizza with addied pineapple, but my wife and children have sampled numerous other pizza and pasta dishes, not to mention the deep fried cheese starters, and the consensus is that this is some of the best food in town. We will be back!

I went to Filippo's for my Birthday with my family and had a great time. The waiting team were really friendly and really made us feel welcome, they'd even put up a happy birthday banner. We went a little bit over board with a 3 course meal (really two is enough). For starters we had olives, plain garlic bread, mushroom, and mozzarella garlic bread and some white bait. The garlic bread was which was light and crispy. For mains we had a pizza Mediterranean (mozzarella, olives and rocket on top), spaghetti pescatore (spaghetti with muscles and clams) and a Pizza Boscaiola (mozzarella, pepperoni, bacon, mushrooms & garlic). The rocket was light and crispy, and the clams in the spaghetti tasted great. For desert we had cheese cake, the special which was chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ice-cream (specifically chosen by my brother), tiramisu and vanilla ice cream. I can't really speak for the other deserts as I didn't try them, I did find the soft cheese part of the cheese cake very tasty but I'm not exactly sure why. Another good thing about Filippos is the fact their restaurant is all one long alley, which means despite being busy, it never tends to get to loud. All in all, a good meal out. Starters £5-£10, mains £13-£20, deserts £5-10, wines £25+

the food here is very delicious, has the essence of a nostalgic and fresh homecooked meal that can be hard to find at other restaurants. no pretentiousness, just friendly attentive service and a wide range of wholesome dishes to choose from! I had the lasagna and could see it had just come fresh baked from the oven, still bubbling in a fragrant sauce. my husband and I both enjoyed our dinners and the desserts as well. would come here again!

I am taking the time to write this review to ensure no one else wastes their money / time visiting Filippo's and also to save anyone leaving a restaurant so upset by how someone can speak to you ... I visited on Saturday evening with 3 other friends. We are all busy working mums who rarely have a night out for dinner. We chose Filippo's as we always seem to walk past and apart from 1 friend, the rest of us had never been inside. The decor is really disappointing as you go in. From the outside, greens and reds and looks like it's going to be a beautiful family, run Italian inside. However, you walk in to chairs covered with cheap, ugly covers...you sit down and sink into the chairs which makes them very uncomfortable. The cutlery and glasses are cheap looking and paper napkins. We booked a table for 6 but due to 2 last min drop out's out of their control we were down to 4. This is where is all went wrong .... The lady who runs the restaurant asked if the other 2 were coming, we said sadly no and her reply with a rude undertone was 'well it would've been nice to know before now' (we had only just found out ourselves !!!). We were very nice about it offered to separate the tables to make sure she could use it for someone else but she made it very obvious from that point we weren't in her good books. She came to take our order and we decided not to go for starters (so we had enough room for pud). She was very pushy about us having starters and even more so when a friend ordered the lasagne with her once again, rude undertone comment being "you should definitely try our starters because your lasagne is cooked from fresh and will take at least 25mins - we don't just put shove it in the oven like all the other restaurants around here" - no...we still don't want starters, thank you! Food arrived, and don't get me wrong it was very tasty but the attitude from the lady will forever put me and everyone I tell going back to this restaurant!! We ordered desserts, and again, very delicious. The lady was again very pushy on us having coffee's, but we didn't need anything else. The bill arrived (£170 for 4 of us with only 3 glasses of wine on there) with a £16.49 tip on - the lady brought the bill over and explained the tip was split between waiting and kitchen staff so if we have it in our heart to leave that would be good - we will leave a tip if we feel we want to, you don't need to quite put it like this. We just wanted to get out of there so just agreed between us to pay it and go ... oh how I wish we hadn't done that! We split the bill between us but we owed a friend some money so her bill only came to £6 - as she went to tap her card the lady pulled the machine away and very rudely said "I am not taking £6 on card, the fee's are too high and I don't take less than £10 on the machine" ... my response was, what are your card fee's, we'll pay the £6 + the card fee's because surely they're not £4!! (baring in mind we'd already left the £16.49 tip!!!!). In the end she wasn't giving in, so I said we'd go and get the cash and be back. To which she very rudely replied with "ok...well what are you going to leave here so I know you will come back" .... 1. it was £6 and 2. we are 4 x 35 + year olds who were out for a nice evening, why would we then go and do a runner for £6!! We decided 2 would go and get the money and the other 2 would stay put she she knew they would return. It then dawned on us we had paid the tip, so she could take it from there. So I politely told her this was our intention and she turned around and said 'well if that's how you feel about the service you received, you obviously don't have it in your heart to leave the full tip' ... my reply "the food was delicious, but your attitude is absolutely appalling" .... There, that's my detailed review of the absolutely terrible service we received from the lady running the restaurant. We all walked away shocked and sad that someone could impact on our evening so much. Just to note, the 2 other young waiting staff were very polite and this doesn't reflect on them.

Came in unplanned with friends after deciding we felt like having an Italian. Nice place to sit, the people there are very nice. The food was amazing. I had Mozzarella in Carrozza as a starter, which was very tasty. Spaghetti alla Carbonara as my mains (with some garlic bread to go with it), again brilliant. I find Carbonara in other restaurants as being rather oily, this however was just perfect. For pudding I had Pannacotta, which I never had befoe but will have again. I no hesitation in giveing 5 stars.

The food at Filippo’s is outstanding. We have been twice (once very recently and previously about a year ago or more) and it’s great to see the standard has not slipped. The staff are so lovely and attentive, you can tell they are passionate about the food. I had bruschetta to start (really tasty) and my partner had mussels in a tomatoey sauce (I was sceptical as only had white wine sauce before, but it was so good). My linguine ai Gamberoni was absolutely incredible, the best pasta I’ve had for a while, I don’t know of anywhere else nearby that freshly makes authentic Italian dishes like this that are full of beautiful flavour. My partner had the risotto which was also delicious. My only criticism is the wine list is very limited. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

We were visiting my fathers parents for my father in laws birthday and they treated us to a meal at Filippo’s. We are vegan and so my mum in law called in advance to ask if they had vegan options. They didn’t but said they would buy in some vegan cheese and some fruit for dessert. When we ordered we were told we could have whatever we wanted from the menu and they would make it vegan. They couldn’t have been any more accommodating or flexible with our requests. And the food was delicious! To top it all they put up and Happy Birthday banner and bought out Tiramisu with a candle in while we all sang happy birthday. We had such a great night and made a wonderful memory!

I don't want to insult the people of Horsham's intelligence but I do not understand how this restaurant is rated anything close to 4+ I ordered a bottle of Peroni which cost £7 for a standard 330ml bottle which is beyond extortionate and a pizza with bacon and pepperoni. I'm not overstating by saying that the pizza that arrived was the equivalent of a £3 supermarket pizza with next to no flavour and pepperoni that you get out of a basic pizza making kit. The pizza was £16.95 so more towards the high end level of pizza prices but the quality level was worse than Domino's. Avoid or be ripped off, you choose.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday night with high hopes given the number of fantastic reviews. We were all shocked at the quality of the pizza dishes we ordered. The meat was oily and cheap and the bases were similar to those you can buy in the supermarket. We usually try to support independent places but this was a real disappointment.

Tucked away in Horsham, with convenient access to parking at Piries Place, is Filippo’s Italian restaurant. We reserved ahead of time as we had seen from TripAdvisor some good reviews. Reservation process: Easy to reserve, head to their website and book yourself in, or available via google/the fork. Our Review: Front of house and service staff were attentive, making you feel welcome, taking coats to a nearby cloak room. The staff made a conscious effort to make themselves available. If you’re not careful they will try and upsell, though skilfully done and not tacky. A small but well thought out wine list, nothing but Italian wines to choose from here, not your Argentinian Malbec or New Zealand SB. Note: you are limited to having to buy bottles of their ‘branded’ wines and offer only glasses of ‘house’ wine. Starter: Sicilian olive mist & mozzarella in carrozza served with tomato sauce. The tomato sauce and mozzarella had a deep and rich flavour, making you want more and more. Main: The litmus test, Margherita pizza: A staple dish for most Italian restaurants, though this was in a class of its own and surpasses your run of the mill Italian chain restaurants. The base; a light crisp with doughy texture, no burns, peppered with pops of char and flavour from the stove. The marinara was light with great depth and fresh mozzarella of course. One of the best pizzas since visiting Italy! Second floor: A few minor details to improve on - use of linen instead of paper napkins, better quality cutlery required, mirrors off putting when eating - I’m sure this is used to make the cozy space feel more open. Chairs were too soft and didn’t offer much lumbar support, wanted to leave slightly early as a result. The above would better reflect the price point of the menu as a margherita with black olives will set you back £17. Other local family run Italian restaurants offer a Margherita for £12-£15. All that said, the food and service is the star here. To conclude: Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Value 4/5 Drinks menu 3/5 Ambience 2/5 Upstairs facilities & decor 2/5.

Came here with my partner for Valentine’s Day and the food was incredible and the service was 10/10. Also the cheesecake was probably the best cheesecake I’ve ever had!

First time at this restaurant, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table & promptly given the menus. Service was quick and we both enjoyed a great 3 course dinner. The cheese cake dessert was especially delicious. Would definitely go again and recommend to all our friends.

Filippo’s is such a lovely restaurant, we’ve been twice now, the second time for Valentine’s Day and the food is lovely and the staff attentive

Good starters, nice wine and good service, but....awful pasta main course unfortunately. Also tired decor, bright lighting and music that was rather too loud/intrusive detracts from the potential atmosphere in the restaurant. Hadn't been for many years but saw the #1 rating on trip advisor and thought we would try again. We eat out in Horsham regularly and I would rate at least 6-8 restaurants in Horsham better than Fillipo's I'm afraid.

Another delightful dinner at Fillipos. Service is spectacular, food always fresh, hot and delicious. I have only dined here solo while visiting Horsham for work, the hostess welcomes me warmly and is attentive so I never feel 'alone'. I have always chosen pasta dishes but see and hear the enjoyment of other patrons enjoying their pizza (maybe next time, but I'm a pasta addict) Come dine here, you will not be disappointed. :)

Delicious traditional Italian food with incredibly friendly service. We will most certainly be going again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I really don't know where to start as it is utter disbelief what we as a family experienced this weekend for my mums birthday. 15 years ago this place was absolutely incredible, staff were polite, food was out of this world!.... oh how the whole place has changed.... We arrived a little late and was straight away confronted by the lady that every bad review is commenting on, stating that they had to turn other customers away - at 6pm!!!. I don't know about you, but restaurants aren't the busiest at that time in the evening? So we apologised (because we are polite people) and soon realised that there were many tables empty, so this was a lie. We sat down trying to forget about the start of the experience as it was my mums birthday, so didn't want to ruin it. It wasn't until we had our mains bought out that the evening took an even worse turn. My dad had a dish bought out that he didn't order, so politely asked for the dish he had originally ordered. The nice waitress in there took the meal away back to the kitchen, and it wasn't long until the rude one grabbed the original dish and stormed back out and started to bully him into having the dish that he didn't order. We then rightly asked for the correct dish again, and she then accused us of being rude! We were not rude in the slightest and never are! After all that, the food was dry, tasteless and not like it was before- much like the service. Please do NOT go here, you will waste your money, and leave there crying like my mum did on her special day. Utterly awful place!!!! Wish i could rate it 0*.

Filippo’s restaurant is very centrally located in Horsham. The food is fantastic and according to Sicilian tradition. The staff is very nice. I had lately one of the best dinner there and I definitely will be back!

Small family run restaurant which made a lovely change from all the chains in horsham. Meals freshly prepared so a smaller menu choice..but for pasta, pizza,risotto this was ample. I had king prawn &prawn linguini...plenty of prawns!!..&delicious.

I always look for authentic eateries away from chains and Fillipos did not disappoint. I ordered a seafood pasta dish. The sauce was fantastic old thing missing was some crusty bread to mop up the juices. Well worth a visit.

An interesting evening to say the least. The owner Tina who has been mentioned in reviews kept trying to make us buy more items, when it was very clear we didn’t want to. This is not a good sales technique, and is uncomfortable for customers....
