We were looking for coffee & found this little paradise. Really good Cappuccino, really kind owner and so delicious olivebread. We would recommend it any time.

This hidden gem is the highlight of my trip to London. If you’re looking for quality food, look no further. The owner is always about and is more than willing to accommodate any allergy so will happily provide any substitutions. The cafe itself has soothing music with the cutest back patio (covered - so it’s still warm in winter). Cozy. Friendly. Quality.

Warm, cozy, and welcoming place with super tasty food with generous portions! We went there to have breakfast with my partner. The atmosphere was one of the best. Kudos for “classical FM” touch.

This is truly a hidden gem, I love it. I first came here 10 years ago and loved it then - most delicious falafel salad! I was back in the area so decided to pop in on this scorching day. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed and airy room at the back so you can sit in the shade looking out on vines and there was a welcome breeze. The food was just as delicious as i remembered. I went for a Mediterranean chicken salad and it was everything I could have wished for. The owner was so lovely and added in some things I said I liked and he also gave me watermelon at the end. It’s also incredibly reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

Super healthy and tasty food in an incredible atmosphere. We found it out by chance and made 3 days in a row for lunch. Would recommend 100%.

Amazing cafe with lovely extension surrounded by foliage. My Avo on toast came on delicious olive bread and with fantastic fresh salad. Owner bought out watermelon for all in the cafe. A wonderful find.

A beautiful, cozy and pictoresque corner in Highbury. The owner is lovely, attentive and very genuine and warm. The food is fresh and colourful, with great quality / price for London. The atmosphere is magical and the indoor terrace is truly special. So glad we live close to here - will return ASAP and on a regular basis! You have to try it!

Food was absolutely delicious. Fresh ciabatta with a lovely side salad and warm Italian biscuits. Service was amazing and so friendly.

When I arrived, all the tables were full but I was handed a piece of tasty fresh olive bread and advised a table would soon be free. I had to wait no longer than it took to eat the bread before I had a seat. Lunch was great, made with fresh produce and I enjoyed a good sized flat white. In better weather, the garden out back looks to be a wonderful spot to sit and enjoy life. The staff immediately made you feel welcome with a warm and cheerful greeting.

Nice Mediterranean style dishes. Fresh healthy produce. Casual atmosphere and friendly owner seemed to interact nicely with the locals.

This place is a little gem. Food is fresh and delicious and extremely generous portions. I often meet a friend for lunch here and always have scrambled egg with smoked salmon and roast veg. Can’t recommend enough. Also the owner is very friendly and attentive and happy to tailor anything to your requests. It’s not one of the new school bearded tattooed barista places but the food is superb and the vibe very laid back. Try it

Really good food, plus typical Greek extras - watermelon afterwards and other goodies too, not billed for. I often also get a take way coffee from here and am always greeted warmly and sent away with wonderful coffee and delicious home baked mini pastry

I had the vegetarian lasagna which was served with a large fresh salad and followed that with a slice of gluten free orange and almond cake. The quality of everything is super. I think prices have gone up but the value is still very good for the location.

Cosy environment inside and great little garden for when the sun's shining. The baguettes are amazing and incredible value. Highly recommend.

Londoner: As many of readers will know I have a passion for London and will share my pleasure when discovering a location or restaurant of particular merit.

I usually go for a salad however it being a cold day we both had the vegetarian lasagne which was a good portion with plenty of cheese and it was served with a very extensive salad, not just of leaves but also lots of roast peppers and pomegranate seeds too. The cappuccinos were strong, with a good chocolate kick and not too milky.

A joyful experience from start to finish. Delicious, fresh salad bursting with extra goodies, lovely owner, gorgeous cosy interior and garden. I'm in love.

We try and go to different places each time we eat so a quick search brought up the Fig Tree Cafe. Very nice med inspired food. Portions weren’t huge but the side salad consisting of roasted vegetables made up for this.

Salí de mi camino por este café increíble y pedimos una ensalada de tomate y mozzarella, que en algunos cafés consistiría de queso, rodajas de tomate y algunas de albahaca. Aquí tienes una enorme fuente mezcladas hermosamente presentado relleno con queso y todo tipo de extras como un hogar lleno de queso mini horneadas roll. Incluso el excelente capuchino se sirve con una galleta casera recién horneadas.

The salads here are huge, fresh, healthy, delicious and reasonably priced. The guy does them slightly different every time, there's always some strange but delicious surprises in there. Come when it's sunny and sit in their garden.

Decided to pop in for breakfast. The food is fresh nice and tasty. I would recommend this place as a great local place to have breakfast or lunch.

I think the best way to describe this is that you walk into someone's home who has prepared to take 20 guests. The chairs mismatch, the tables are a bit small, and in the back you have a view over typical London backyards. I don't mean this in any bad way; in fact, it immediately gave a sense of coziness and comfort. The orders were taken by the owner and who I presume to be one of his daughters or family members. They were extremely friendly. The food was very cheap (6-ish pounds for a baguette with prawn and avocado) yet the plates were filled with vegetables and all kinds of other things. It's a shame that we do not live close-by, otherwise we would visit every weekend.

I came in here 2 or 3 months ago for a coffee and was duly impressed so brought my wife here for lunch. It was quite busy but we found a table and both tried the vegetarian lasagne which was served with an enormous and hugely varied side salad. The quality of the lasagne and salad was superb and it was great value at £8.50. The cappuccino was also excellent - strong, a good kick of chocolate and not overly sweet and served with a homemade biscuit. I saw the owner kneading dough and asked about that to find that he not only makes his own bread but the croissants too are made by his hand which is truly amazing. He has olives tree ripened I Crete too.

Une nourriture du sud saine, riche et variee d'excellente qualite et d'un rapport qualite/prix imbattable dans ce quartier d'Highbury/Islington tout proche d'Upper Street. We have passed this cafe so often and never visited until now. Today we had a wonderful lunch in the airy conservatory overlooking the garden. The staff are all friendly and the salads and cakes we had were very good quality prepared from fresh ingredients served with flair. Coffees were well prepared and tasted great.Highly recommended .

The outside has been painted and looks better than photo shown. The food has Mediterranean flavors. Small staff very pleasant. There is small eating area out back as well. The food is terrific! It is on a side street near St. Paul's cathedral. It is well the search, though not extravagant inside the food counts!

Frequently come here for a baguette (although the other food looks great too). Beautifully cooked roast chicken, avocado, salad, pomegranate seeds even apple slices. Really gorgeous. Also the staff are so so nice! Really friendly and they give you a home made biscuit while you wait. Highly recommended.

Now my regular place to spend time in, meet friends or heal a hangover. The owner, Mustafa is one of the kindest people in London. The food is always fresh, portions are always huge and affordable and coffee is always perfect. On top of that the venue itself is just a treasure on the map of London. Wooden interior, mediterranean vibe, big terrace and a garden filled with various greens. I simply can't recommend it enough.

Despite living a long walk away and passing many cafes on my way, I always come back to the Fig Tree Cafe, it has become my weekly ritual! The ingredients are always fresh, healthy and delicious. The owner is lovely and generous and always offers me a daily made treat while I wait for him to compile my baguette. I can not recommend this place highly enough!

In London you get used to a pace of life that negates personal contact,every thing has to happen Fast. Well if thats the way you like it dont bother to go here. I am not saying the service is slow, it isn't but it is a place where converstaion is paramount whether it is about food, weather or football. The boss is passionate about his food and his customers satisfaction. He would be devestated if a customer left unhappy. His food is super fresh, the menu changes daily and everyone is welcomed with a warmth that is not that regularly encounterd. Stop by like I did and enjoy.

This place is one of my absolute favourite places when I want to get away.. The food is GREAT! I buy my chicken and avocado baguettes from here every morning... and I'm always greeted with a smiling face and a good morning.. I highly recommend a visit during the summer because the garden is so beautiful.

We visit here almost every Saturday morning with our children & babies after soft play. Sometimes we have 3 or 4 buggies but the owner is always super family friendly and welcoming. He will always try and make space for us. The coffee, food and service is exquisite. Don't pay any attention to the post saying prams were turned away as they must of been very busy which can happen anywhere! Look forward to visiting again soon.

Went to this small restaurant in Islington with a groupon voucher .The staff and I assume owner were very friendly and made us welcome. The food was very very good. Belly pork starter very tender with nice crispy crackling!Paid extra for Sea Bass but wow it was one of the best I have had. Creamy lemon dressing gorgeous. Would I go again without a voucher YES.If the offer with groupon is still on I would say BUY it quick you will not be disappointed!

Entered this cafe by chance and fell in love with the familiar atmosphere. It is the kind of place one could spend hours in. I discovered this place while the two owners were getting ready for the lunch, seeding the pomegranate for their amazing salads and being very friendly with me asking lots of questions on the place.I was back few hours later for a pleasant lunch where we enjoyed a view of their grapes garden and all sort of fall colours it offers.Will definitely go back again

I've been to this restaurant with my partner and my Mum by purchasing a Groupon for 4 (we're quite foodies, I know). I honestly thought that because we had a voucher, the portions would have been smaller, but no.. they were the normal, FULL big portions. We had both starters and mains, meaty and veggy as well - definitely recommend the burgers and the veggy mousakka :)The location is perfect, less than 5 mins from Angel station, on the main street and the service was very nice and flexible (though some dishes listed on the voucher weren't available, we could choose from the rest of the menu). The place is small and cozy, ideal for a lunch out with friends and family. Definitely recommend :)

During our stay in Islington, the beautiful display and backyard garden at Fit Tree cafe drew us in. We were greeted by the kindest cafe owners who, after a very long trip from SF, made sure we would experience the most comforting and rejuvenating lunch to start off our trip. For the past week, we've come almost every day trying everything from their amazingly fresh salads, baked potatoes, breakfast scrambles, and hot mugs of coffee & lattes. Their salads and roasted veggies are so fresh it looks like a rainbow on your plate, and tastes like they grow everything themselves in their little back garden. We hope to stay in Islington again on our next trip, and start each morning off at Fig Tree and meet the wonderful owners again. They are truly caring and wonderful people to talk to.

Zur Begrüßung habe ich ein Stück Melone erhalten bevor man mich in den Garten zu meinem Platz geführt hat. Der Garten zeichnet sich durch seine schönen Pflanzen und Blüten aus. Der Kaffee ist sehr lecker und zum Frühstück wird ein frisch gepresster Orangensaft gereicht. Mein Frühstück, eine mediterrane Mischung aus Vollkorntoast, Satat, Tomate, Spinat, Pilze, Ei und Käse war extrem lecker, die Portionen sind groß und der Service ist schnell und sehr zuvorkommend!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would love to be able to review the food and drink here but I was refused entry because it was lunch time and I had a Pram.Never experienced discrimination like it. Appalling.

What a find. Went in asking to get a take away soup (they don't do it) and the lovely owner suggested I don't rush off and enjoy it sat inside. Best decision ever! Really nice people who run it and the food was exceptional. I will be going out of my way in future to make sure I can call in.

the owner who is also the chef,prepares each dish with love and passion, he uses al the fresh salads and OVEN BAKED vegetables in front of him with care and attention to your specific requirement, I am diabetic with high colesterol and its important that I can see the chef takes notice of that. This area is full of many overpriced pretentious cafes and restaurants but the Fig Tree is my favourite. The chefs many years of experience and mediterranean background, Cyprus to be precise shows and its no wonder this sexy little cafe gets so many good reviews from other diners also. Keep it up old boy.

Hi all,I ve been here for lunch with a friend of mine and I can't wait to come back.The food was awesome! I had the chicken and avocado salad, an americano and orange juice, my friend had the jacked potatoe with grilled vegetables and water. Nice cozy place to go to. The owners were nice and the price so low for London standards!Keep going like that!

This independent cafe is such a hidden gem I almost reluctant to share it!With a beautiful garden and conservatory (with a heater) this cafe is great for sunny and rainy days, and has an incredible view of the sunset (see photo). The owner is a lovely, warm and jolly man who takes pride in sourcing healthy food.He is also incredibly generous with home made cookies and healthy snacks.Meals are cooked fresh every day with love and care. Always taking care to modify for allergies and food preferences, this is a great spot for vegans and vegetarians (avocado and falafel baguette or lentil soup are my favourite vegan options). This is my favourite cafe in London, haven't been eating anywhere else since I came across it. If you are looking for a nice day out is also nearby the New River Walk, a lovely spot to feed the ducks.

What a lovely place - the whole setup is so welcoming and comfortable with a warm wooden interior and a great little conservatory overlooking the garden and railway under the trees. Great service and wonderful owner and staff who really took care of us. Huge yummy portions, fresh produce, and their home baked treats- freshly baked biscuits and cheese&olive pastries - were delicious, both a highlight and a great touch. Will definitely come again!

Such a great find! After walking past on our way to the Tube one day we finally stopped for breakfast and subsequently went three times the next five days. Fabulous food, fresh and ample portions, freshly made bread throughout the day, nice presentation, wonderful owner and genuinely friendly staff. Cannot more highly recommend! So if you have reason to be in Highbury stop by the Fig Tree. You won't be disappointed!

El dueño es un chipriota encantador. Los precios son de no creer que estás en Londres (comida para dos, cerveza, postre y café menos de 20 libras). Tiene una terraza interior muy agradable y wifi. El local y el escaparate lleno de fruta y verdura fresca. Nada más entrar nos ofrecieron unas galletitas caseras. Salieron a buscarme una cerveza. Nos aconsejaron para que no pidiéramos demasiada comida y luego sobrara. Una lasaña de escándalo con una ensalada recién hecha con mucha variedad de verduras y aliñada con aceite de oliva. Eso sí, llevad dinero en efectivo, que tiene la tpv estropeada

I rarely leave reviews but this local café is a hidden gem well worth a visit. The owner and staff are so welcoming and friendly, plus all the food is freshly made and very tasty especially the amazing salads. Coffee is also great - I always stop here for my daily fix if in the area - and the yummy free biscuit is an added bonus if you enjoy a treat with your coffee :-)The outside garden at the back is also a wonderful retreat on a nice sunny day.

Love this place. The staff are super sweet, the secret garden is a real oasis in London. And most importantly the food fantastic, simple and incredible value. The lentil soup with lemon and coriander is worth the trip alone.

My colleague and I had an hour to spare one morning on our way to class, so we have entered this small cafe we have walked by - we were very nicely welcomed in, given a half a fig each, which was brilliant. We sat at the beautiful balcony outside, having the best breakfast we have had in London.I would definitely be back there on my next visit.

Came back from Liverpool with our tired little 6 month old and needed food. Had the soup and a ciabatta. Fresh, homemade and tasty. The owner is a lovely guy. He likes Alex so much he carried him around to show him the place. I can't praise this place highly enough.We used them for Alex's christening party food too, delicious quiches!

This hidden gem has a secret garden, amazing food, and lovely, humble people. My wife and I only happened inside and ended up making warmest, best memories of our trip to Europe. It's an experience, quaint and simple. If you cast a movie with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks running a cafe in London, this would be the cafe.

We found this by chance as we were looking for a pub with a garden and noticed the sign so went in. We found a lovely garden at the back where we had a very pleasant lunch- we really wanted a wine and we asked but they didn't sell alcohol -but we could bring our own so we popped out to the shop next door. Nothing was too much trouble -we will be back.
