Kelly was great. I messed up on the table booking thinking I’d booked a table for 10 people at 6.30 when I’d actually booked for 4.30. ..we booked the downstairs room for a retirement party ..we were allowed to decorate & change the layout as we wanted! We ordered the "gold buffet".. which was absolutely excellent .. a vast choice of food & plenty of it.. & so many compliments too! The staff were fabulous ... nothing was too much bother!.. extremely accommodating! We had a fabulous night celebrating..& would definitely recommend the Ffynnon Wen for any future events. Many thanks for a extremely memorable night.

Been here today for a family meal. There was a large group of us. We ordered our meal quickly and it come out in good time. We had desserts too which were very tasty. Our serves Alex and emmie were very attentive and made sure we were well looked after. Nick behind the bar was very friendly, he was having a laugh and joke with one of our smaller guests at lunch making her laugh

Just wanted to say thank you to the wonderful staff at the Fynnon Wen this evening. Our 2 year old drank her drink too quickly and was sick. They immediately came to help and told us not to worry and weren’t phased at all which was much appreciated. They even provided a staff shirt for her to wear as her dress was wet! We joked she could work behind the bar! Food, drink and service lovely as always and they even gave us a discount which was so thoughtful. Thank you 🤩

The food and staff were excellent. Our meals included vegetarian and gluten free requirements as well as the ordinary menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal. One of our party was disabled and the staff arranged an easily accessible table. We will definitely be returning

We booked a table online for 7pm. We were shown to our table and it took 15 minutes before a member of staff came to the table to take our drink orders. By this time we had already reviewed menu and decided on food. As we were about to order we were told a table of 20 was upstairs and food would take 45 minutes at least. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. Should have been advised of delay on arrival rather than being ignored for 15 minutes and then being told. Has put us off going back again.

We had our main meals brought to us before we finished starters. This is the worse Irish coffee I’ve ever had.

I spoke to your colleague called Gail who was friendly , communicated very well with customers and when she was aware that I was organising a funeral gathering for my late wife after her service at Thornhill Crematorium she showed compassion , sympathy and I was at ease in talking to Gail which was at at time of raw emotion for myself and family .

Warmly greeted by staff, it was a family birthday celebration so I asked when I booked online for a quiet table upstairs. The food arrived hot and was tasty and the prices are reasonable. Staff and the manager were lovely and looked after us we even booked the same table next month for my sisters birthday.

Lovely experience at the Ffynnon Wen tonight. Came with my wife and 4 months year old son and was met by a lovely host/waiter called Glyn. We did not book prior and attended the Ffynnon Wen on a 'Whim'. Glyn found us a lovely table which accommodated the pram and the little one. Food was delicious and hot. Glyn gave recommendation such as hallomi fries which I'm glad he mentioned 👌. Would definitely return.

The Ffynon is now greatly improved, the service and food quality is excellent. The costs are reasonable and booking online couldn’t be easier. Very pleased with our recent visit and will be returning.

My Mother and I visited Ffynon Wen on the 13/03/2024 at 6:00pm for an evening meal. We both order beef madras curry. It was the worst curry I’ve ever eaten!! so fatty, I wouldn’t serve it to a dog! We complained to a female member of staff and she said ‘yeah the beef isn’t very nice in the madras curry!!!!’ Who says that! Especially working at the establishment!! Even the Manager wasn’t helpful, says it all really! I think you need to actually taste the food the chefs are cooking! There was no apology or offer of a discount. My mother and I left in disbelief and we will not be returning! This should have been a nice evening out with my mother who I do not get to spend much time with. What a complete waste of time & our money…..

Service was brilliant, right from the moment I booked the venue for a wake for my nans funeral. The food was great, service from tye staff was brilliant

I firmly believe in balancing cost against quality. The three courses for £21 was of great quality, it was all quite delicious. Two small things relating to starters. You advertised tomato soup but had run out. This was at 12.30 which did feel awfully early. Secondly, the soup was advertised as coming with a crusty baguette but it arrived with just two slices of bread. That's the reason I kept one star back. You know what though...who cares. The young man with glasses who served my upstairs table was great. He checked on us twice, a few mins after starter then main, perfect. Well done to your team. It's not fine dining and nor should it be. Great value, great price and great service. We will see you again in less than a year.

I booked a table of 14 we were put in a large room which was excellent for our needs food and service was excellent

At first I explained I had a gastric sleeve and couldn't eat a full menu. The waitress said she couldn't cut down the menu. The only menu that I could choose from was 3 courses. But eventually the manager agreed to help me. I heard a few people complain that there was a price for 3 courses and they would rather a 2 course instead.

Unfortunatley on this occasion Itis going to have to be a negative review. We visited on the 9th of March with my mum we were expected to have the mother's day set menu however when we went to order this we were informed that "our pub is only doing this deal tomorrow" the Sunday 10th even though however the website was advertising. This special deal was on for the ull weekend that was one disappointment to my mum. The other problem arising was two member of the party ordered mixed grills to find out a few mins the waitress came over and stated they are only able to do one mixed grill ?so the other member of my part had to choose something else

Great place to meet and have a meal

The portions were small.my wife ordered a small fish and chips.when the meal came .it was fish fingers with a tea spoon of mushy peas and the chips were under cooked.my meal came back same chips and peas as my wife's. Needless to say we weren't happy at all.

Beautiful food, we ordered a mixed grill, sirloin steak and Southern fried chicken burger. All meats cooked to perfection chicken lovely and moist, sirloin steak medium rare was exactly that, great service will definitely return

We’ve visited this pub many times for food and felt it fell well below our expectations on this visit. Slight confusion on finding a suitable table. Although the restaurant was virtually empty they didn’t want to put us by the window as requested on booking. Pointed out where we’d like to dine but lots of excuses. Finally got the window table as requested. I asked what dark beers were available but then given an amber beer?? My gammon was good but my partners macaroni cheese was not very nice. Unfortunately will not be returning anytime soon.

Super Sunday lunch for two, the beef was superb, the ròast chicken was a bit dry. Excellent deserts and San Miguel. Staff are spot on

My booking was for a group of 30 people who had attended a funeral,from the moment the booking was taken everything was handled professionally,nothing was too much trouble,all the staff were great,the buffet was excellent with a variety of foods to suit everyone,nobody had any complaints.

I hadn't been to the venue for a while and then all of a sudden went twice in two days. For lunch with friends on the 23rd of Feb which we received fanatic service from Nikki and the food was delicious. This visit was unscheduled and not pre-booked. I returned for lunch the next day with family (on the 24th of Feb) and the experience left us feeling so deflated that I had to make a complaint. We booked in advance for this visit (several days in advanced). After being seated, we waited 20 minutes and weren't acknowledged by any staff. One waitress stood next to a table chatting for at least 10 minutes and didn't bat an eye. We finally grabbed someone to ask them for table service, to which they said they would grab someone for us, but still nobody came. We eventually decided to order on via the qr code on the table after 5 minutes. Poor selection of drinks available on the app, so we ended up having to go to the bar anyway to order what we wanted. Once the order went through, someone approached the table to advise us that we had ordered the 'light cheeseburger'... However there wasn't the option for a regular one on the app! When we approached the bar to order the drinks we couldn't get on the app, only half of the drinks we ordered on the app were provided, so we had to go back to the bar to ask for these. Whilst querying the missing drinks, I advised the manager of our experience so far and he was apologetic. I usually wouldn't have complained but it wasn't as though the venue was particularly busy. From then on, all of the staff were attentive. The food arrived and it was lovely - no faults at all. Beautiful food and portions. We got to desert, which we ordered via the manager whilst he came to clear the table. The desserts arrived and looked and tasted wonderful... For the most part. Midway through eating his rocky road Sunday, my father in law came across a 3" piece of cling film/cellophane in his Sundae which he could well have choked on. We called the manager over to advise him, and once again he was apologetic and advised that we wouldn't need to pay for the deserts which we felt was a fair resolution. Aside from the poor service, we couldn't fault the meal, however it was the service that left a bad taste in our mouths. On the whole I would return again because there is ample parking, the toilets are clean and the venue is pleasant, I just think it was a highly unfortunate string of events on this second visit that left me feeling disappointed.

Haven’t been here for 15 years. Was lovely. Food was great and blonde lady behind the bar -Gayle? -was very bubbly and friendly. We will definitely be back.

I popped in to this place after having a spa treatment locally, I love the design and detail in this pub, it is like a large modern country pub. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, I could not fault Nicola our server, she ensured the meal was a pleasurable experience. We all opted for the lunchtime saver £8 for main and £2.50 each for a starter and desert. Overall £13 for breaded mushrooms with garlic, hunters chicken and jam Roku poly, the portion sizes were smaller, but that suited me for a lunch time bite. I would recommend and return, thank you for a great meal

What can I say, with a first class welcome at the bar from Liam, such a warm welcome. We then went into the restaurant for food, with Gail and Nicola serving us m. They couldn’t do enough for us, the food was really good and served in a timely manner. Will definitely be returning to try different things off the menu. Very welcoming and was able to accommodate my additional needs. The decorations in the pub was beautiful. Love the fairy light :) the staff was friendly and patient with me also. The food was absolutely delicious this is the 1st time I’ve come to the pub and I will 100% be returning again

Glyn, as always was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely service from him! Not sure who the new blonde lady in Black was but her attitude wasn't the best, she came out with a meal that was not as described as per the menu, when we queried it she had a very bad manner and attitude and also made a sparky remark when collecting the plates. Apart from this staff member, service was great more specifically from Glyn! Thanks again for a lovely time Glyn!

Staff are so friendly, welcoming and particularly helpful when ordering from the gluten free menu. The ultimate spicy gluten free burger was amazing!

Had to wait a few minutes before being greeted and shown to table but the young gentleman was very welcoming. Long wait for drinks. All food came out together which was great. Very accommodating in giving my elderly mum and my disabled sister a child's meal as they don't eat large meals. Unfortunately the 2 steaks that we had ordered weren't cooked to requirement - the medium was well done and the medium rare was medium cooked. Think the chef needs to check his timings on cooking steaks. All quality and quantity of the other meals were very good.

Really good experience. The staff were spot on, everything was done in a timely manner. Never felt rushed or left waiting. The food was served hot and was very nice. There was a good offer on starters which saved a few pounds on the bill.

Greeted very pleasantly and introduced to the new manager who showed us to our table. Service was quick and professional. One complaint my sausages were to well done for me, but were soon replaced with a fresh meal.

Visited for a meal for my daughter’s 18th birthday. Food was excellent. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and made the birthday celebrations extra special. All followed up with entertainment from live music. Will definitely visit again soon.

Felt sorry for the waitress , she was run off her feet. We had a 30% off any main meal voucher. We ordered the sirlon steak with a Mediterranean salad, however because it mentioned lighter option, ( meaning instead of chips ) we couldn't have the 30% off ? so we ended up with a small side salad, we ordered steak medium it came cold and cremated, almost inedible, we had waited so long we couldn't be bothered , if we had to pay the full £15 odd I would have seen the manager. Sorry Ffynnon Wen but the steak was awful, however dog enjoyed it!

An awful experience today which is a shame as I've been here many times and it's usually OK. When I was waiting to be seated with my daughter after booking a table online all I could hear was the chef swearing to the young waiters. 4 different staff members were sent to turn the laptop on to see my booking ( as apparently it kept turning off and nobody knew the log in ) and all of whom walked away asking the next one to do it. Finally a gentleman assisted me and my young daughter and he took us to our table. He was very kind bringing her colouring to do while we waited for our food. The drinks arrived and as you can see from the pictures were half full. Myself and my daughter ordered 2 roasts and 1 portion of pigs in blankets which were freezing cold and raw. The food was disgusting. When i went to pay the chef started shouting asking who's accepted a mixed grill as an order as he doesn't have any. The woman serving me replied she didn't know and he just shook his head with a thunder face looking in her direction. This was in front of my 8 year old daughter who had heard him swearing when we first arrived. The other staff seemed lovely enough but appeared like they couldn't be bothered. Absolutely disgusting from a place where families with young children come to eat. I won't be returning and will be advising others to steer clear too. The chef needs anger management or his p45. Very disappointing.

Popped in for a taste of the new menu. As always, we welcomed by the ever friendly and helpful staff, Liam, Gail, Nick Alex and Nicky. A great selection of three draught ales (Wainwright is superb), and the food was amazing. I know it was a Friday lunchtime, and we were both sober, but I went for the Doner Kebab, and my wife went for the Chicken Kebab (the chips in the pub are the best). AMAZING. Decent sized portions, really tasty, and not at all greasy. A real revelation but I would recommend to anyone who may be a little sceptical, that you give them a go. The rest of the menu looks great too. An outstanding local that is well worth a visit ( and trap 2 is sorted !!!) Thanks - and to Marstons - Liam - the manager of this pub needs to be given the job permanantly.

Although short staffed and heating not working on the day the staff were prompt with taking and delivering our order, well done to all the staff on duty. The food delivered was tasty and well presented at a competitive price. Recommended.

Unfortunately we arrived when there was a large funeral party. They were short of staff and China and to cap it all the coffee machine was out of order so no coffee of any kind. The chips were nicely cooked though.

Very accommodating to our large party holding our annual secret santa - we came here last year for the same event and will definitely be booking for next year too. Food was great, drinks were tasty and we felt very looked after. Special shout out to the new server, she did a great job at keeping calm under the pressure of such a large party! Me and my family eat here regular and had a lovely experience each time but unfortunately tonight we were shown to a table and sat there waiting for our drinks order to be taken which was only done because I called a member of staff. When our food arrived we had no cutlery so had to help ourselves and our side was brought up well into our meal. To top things off the rented electric fire started sparking and blue flames coming from it just inches from me. Our bill was cleared by the manager but it was a frightening experience.
