Fernando's Cafe in Oxford

I went twice, once for a burger and once for pork belly. The pork belly was recommended the first time that I went. It was yummy with beans and rice. I went back to try the Burger a few days later. It was OK. The pickled onions overwhelmed the taste a bit much for me. Would recommend the place if you're in the area. It's a better option than most of the touristy places around.

Disappointed really l, I've been a regular customer for about a year now, I'd order from here almost every single day, just an hour ago I ordered my regular large meal from either chicken carbonate, rump steak and pork, was very disappointed when I got my order the large had become the regular size, especially since I've spent so much here over the last year. The food is great, just very unhappy about the portion size, makes me think what size the regular is now

Good Brazilian food in the city centre of Oxford

Stopped for lunch.Ordered Belly Pork baguette.Was delivered two large pieces of fat on bread with extra fat. Quite the worst sandwich I've ever had.Poor is an understatement.

Pretty from the outside, but food is prepared in a very basic way. Plain, untoasted supermarket baguettes with totally under-flavoured filling, not even salt/pepper. Plain salad too. Overpriced, clearly heavily marked up prices (£20 for 2 baguettes and a cup of tea) and the vegan baguette came with coleslaw. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend. Wouldn't normally recommend a chain over an independent, but go to Pret/Greggs across the road instead.

Great little cafe in the centre of Oxford. Highlights were the Brazilian chocolate and orange cake and the green smoothie.

We had coronation chicken and steak baguettes, paprika chips and blueberry and pecan nut pancakes. It was all very tasty and we were able to sit outside and take in the atmosphere. Would go there again and try something different from the menu.

Believe me when I say there really isn’t a better burger and chips in the whole of Oxford than this place. The quality of these burger patties is insane and the chunky chips with the rosemary, paprika seasoning is amazing. Really is oxfords best kept secret for burgers absolutely unbelievable and they are family run which makes it even better. Thanks guys

Visited with friends on a busy Saturday in Oxford (Pride 🌈 event was taking place which was a fab to observe). Used Groupon vouchers. Managed to get a seat outside as inside seating area run down and grubby. Service was poor and meal was inedible. Burgers undercooked (mince was still blood red inside). Sent all meals back and all they did was peel them off the burger buns and place them back on griddle, recovered them with cheese and served back to us. This then made buns really soggy. Had to chase up drinks. The chunky chips were delicious but we left without eating the burgers. I wouldn't eat here again due to the above. There are so many eateries in Oxford that I'd choose somewhere else.

I ate carbonara chicken and steak and chips. The carbonara sauce suited Korean tastes very well!! It's really delicious!! The price is reasonable too~ It's even better to come over from London!!

Mediocre food, overpriced. We ordered 3 dishes. Picanha was ok, overpriced. Falafel baguette which was poor, we picked out the falafel (all three of them!) and left the rest. We ordered a child portion of chicken and chips. Chips were covered in paprika so not suitable for a child, the first batch of chicken was weird, very tough, after mentioning it the the second was a bit better, but very small. Plus two bottles of juice and it came to 36 quid!

The cakes are quite good, but the service and attention is deplorable. The coffee is pretty mediocre too. I wanted to go into the bathroom and they prevented me with the excuse that the place was closed, but obviously it was a lie, I was right there having a coffee and a cake... I don't understand anything.

In the center of Oxford, a small restaurant away from the big brands. Varied food, the staff is pleasant and smiling, the prices are affordable for my part I took a heatly plate for 9€ I enjoyed it.

Right at the entrance we stood there not knowing if we would order or if we would sit down to order, after 10 minutes at the entrance a man came and gave us the menu, we went to place the order and the person who served us seemed like he was forced there. We placed the order and when they gave it to us the food was completely cold.

On November 15th, I ordered two plates of picanha steak, one well-done and the other medium-rare. The medium-rare dish was delivered correctly, with an acceptable picanha steak. However, the well-done dish contained only a few pieces of meat. Upon expressing my dissatisfaction and stating that it did not match what I had requested, I was informed that these meat pieces were considered picanha, and it was the standard way of serving it. Although I decided to proceed with the meal after the explanation, I made it clear to the staff that it would be my last visit to the establishment, and I would share a negative review. This situation was uncomfortable, not only making me feel deceived but also leading me to cancel the dessert orders I had planned to enjoy at the venue. Later, one of the staff members attempted to refund me money that I hadn't even paid, something I could have dishonestly kept. In the end, when settling the bill, I was surprised to learn that the meal was complimentary. As for the quality of the food, the rice and bean stew were acceptable. However, the way the "picanha" was served did not meet the appropriate standard of service.

To start with the picanha is not “picanha” it's mattress soft, you guys are adding only a little piece of it on the plate, you guys are adding bicarbonate in the food to make people fall fool faster, one spoon of rice and one of Beans the plate is over how come £10? To begin with, the picanha isn't picanha, it's a stupid piece of mattress pole, you put bicarbonate of soda in the food to fill it up faster, a spoonful of rice and a spoonful of beans and the dish costs more than £10 for the trip

Always visit here when I'm in Oxford, on and off for 15 years at least, always lovely food and a friendly vibe! Went here again today (30th Oct) and it's still as great as always!

I went in for a bacon lettuce and tomato toasty and a slice of toast with butter for my 2 year old I watched as 3 members of staff handled my food, and it also came out with no lettuce or tomato’s in and my sons toast was stone cold with rock hard butter I was fuming he took the toasty back to put tomatoes and lettuce in it, but by then I’d gone of my food and left hungry and got nothing for my £4.50. There was no love put into my food at all.

The portion sizes and fries were great! But the steak was quite chewy, so definitely order something else.

Of the 5 days I spent in the UK, this was the only restaurant that left me missing, the carbonara pasta is divine. The local cuisine is terrible, I can say that this was the only place where I felt "at home" Delicious food, fast service and fair prices. The only thing I have to point out is that the space itself is a little run down and deserves renovation work. Other than that, the food is top notch!

Very cozy place with delicious, filling food in large portions. Highly affordable for the amount of food you get, and friendly staff as well. Highly recommended for casual lunches!

We visited this café during a short coffee break. The counter staff is friendly and we received our order quickly. Unfortunately, the covered seating is not nice and lacks any atmosphere. It is very dirty and the tables are cleared but not cleaned - even when there is obvious contamination - not to mention the toilets.

This was our first visit to Fernando’s Cafe. We weren’t sure what to expect as it does look very ‘basic and simple’ inside. On ordering our food, we were met by a friendly, helpful chap whom I informed this was our first time eating at this particular cafe. He explained how the process worked at which stage I went ahead and ordered. Our food came to us. I can quite honestly say, it tasted absolutely amazing. My husband and I both said the chips we had were probably the best we’d ever eaten and as for our burgers, they were also very good. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant as although as previously mentioned, the actual cafe doesn’t shall we say ‘sell itself well’, the food is a different matter which of course is what matters, it’s just fabulous. Thanks guys for a lovely lunch at Fernando’s cafe, we will definitely come back to you.

Run by lovely Brazilian people. Average quality food, inside is a little dark and poorly decorated.

We had wanted to attend here for lunch and rang twice to get directions, and twice the rude staff put the phone down. We went elsewhere and enjoyed our meal with friendly staff.

Great little gem hidden in the busiest part of Oxford! Most flavorful food I’ve had in the UK with a cozy ambience.

Went to Fernando’s today for a quick break before exploring Oxford city. We’ve had the chimi baguete, coffee and guaraná, and we were no disappointed. It was exactly what we needed. The team is very smiley, and the menu offers everyone’s taste. I highly recommend. Thank you Fernando for offering so much.

Bife acebolada (beef and onion with rice beans and farofa) is the best on the menu. The traditional brazilian cakes are a must too. Have gone there for hears and the standards have always been high. Cash only

You can only sit down on their tables that is placed on a public footpath if you buy something. Not welcoming at all for all of us who just want to sit down and eat something. I am a old lady and they place made me sit on the pavement. At least be welcoming and let me sit down

The best tasting coffee in Oxford and the service is brilliant. The staff are so friendly and helpful...I ordered a hazelnut flat white but was given a normal flat white by mistake. I didn't complain because I didn't really mind but the staff realised their mistake and gave me a free drink, unprompted. They were so polite and lovely. I highly recommend Fernando's Café, it really is very good coffee!
