Just want to thank them for the lovely cake they made for my mother in law’s 90th birthday it was fantastic and everyone said what a great tasting cake, will definitely use again thank you once again

I've been coming here for over a year now. Thier Vegetarian breakfast is the best I have ever had. So I always try and come here when I'm out.

We ordered a cake from No. 142 for a family celebration, my husband's parents' Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Not only did it look amazing, better than that, it has to be one of the best chocolate sponges I have ever tasted. And very reasonably priced for all the work that obviously went into it. Thank you so much.

Delicious tapas and good wine -warm and welcoming after a tiresome train journey on a winter evening. Staff were genuine foodies, my favourite was roasted green peppers (can't remember the proper name) but it was a memorable dish of hearty green goodness served at the perfect temperature.

Relaxed lunch, exquisite food and friendly staff. We regularly visit and today popped in for a light lunch. On the specials pumpkin soup, beef stew and monkfish stew, all with sourdough bread. We opted for a pumpkin soup and a monkfish stew. What can I say, super tasty, lovely homely environment, great value for money and friendly staff. Perfect! We sadly didn’t have room for the delicious choice of homemade cakes but often take some away for later…the cheesecake is awesome! I note mulled wine on the menu too, perfect with a mince pie, go on treat yourself!!

This is such a perfect place to go! The atmosphere is fabulous, gentle jazz playing in the background, bistro-style decor and small tables/benches. There is an upstairs to this tiny, exquisite restaurant and also a lovely outside space. Completely delicious food and friendly, efficient service. The whole experience left us (couple + dog) feeling happy. (There is also a dog menu.)

Moved to the area recently this was a great find and one where we will visit again and again....declious food and drinks with quality ingredients. Such a lovely atmosphere freindly and inviting just such a nice place to visit

Nice place seated in the courtyard, we ordered 3 cocktails which we felt were quite pricey at £9, when our porn star martinis were served they were very small and there was no passion fruit garnish,when I asked the girl who served us she just shrugged and said we haven’t got any, I feel to charge £9 and then to not have the full cocktail experience was disappointing and lacked attention to detail, the food was great and we felt good value so it’s a shame they just didn’t invest in a passion fruit for the cocktails.

Fantastic little cafe for afternoon tea, a wonderful selection from Sandwiches, pastries, cakes and scones.

Fantastic cocktail and tapas evening. The bar was lively but so friendly and the staff are always amazing. We had the sharing board and some prawns…totally devine and they made the best Pina Colada I’ve tasted. Reminded me of being on holiday!! Also recommended for breakfast, mushroom toast is delicious and also the full English. Try the Spanakopita with salad, you won’t be disappointed. Absolute gem in the great of Oulton Broad.

Informal, cosy and relaxed place to eat. My wife and I dined on Friday last and had the 142 tapas sharing platter which we had had before and once again it was fantastic. Value for money at Vessy's is amazing so cost is ridiculously cheap.

A perfect find on our holidays. We had breakfast if was so good made with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. I would also recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice. The weather was gorgeous so we could take advantage of the outdoor seating. 10 out of 10 we will be back.

Very cosy and food was delicious. Took around an hour to arrive which is ridiculous for 2 sandwiches. Also asked one of the workers for some glasses for water and was told ‘go ask the bar I have 7 tables waiting for food’ which threw me and my friend off a bit. However the other staff were helpful

Choose quite a generous slice of Bakewell tart (ready sliced) so was really disappointed when a thin sliver arrived instead. I queried this with waitress who said the already cut slice was ready to be cut again. Not good value after all and very misleading to the customer

The food although delicious was overpriced. A sharing platter was hardly enough for 2. There was a significant gap between people receiving their main courses with high prices for drinks. A small pleasant atmosphere good for couples but not larger groups. I had expected better.

Had the most amazing brunch at No.142 cafe. The courtyard is deceptively big, gorgeously decorated and a real sun trap. The food and service faultless and the portions big too. Would highly recommend!

Our Birthday girl booked this venue and four of our party decided on afternoon tea which proved to be substantial and inviting. The rest of the party opted for jacket potatoes with different fillings and glasses of wine and pots of tea. Excellent, friendly service...

Found this lovely cafe at Oulton Broad yesterday afternoon. The fruit scones were to die for with lovely coffee to finish off. I am so glad we called in.

Once again a girls get together at this delightful cafe with delicious food especially the artesian bread with avocado and smoked salmon. Unfortunately, service is very, very slow and the owner needs to employ a person to clear the tables rather than let the customers do it. This is a prized gem in a small community and it would be such a shame people stayed away because of the long waiting period for food and drinks especially as car parking on road is limited to one hour.Staff are obliging, friendly and courteous but they are under immense pressures.I just love this place and so allow at least two hours minimum for lunch.

Another great time with friends sitting outside in this beautiful autumnal morning. The outdoor heaters are an added bonus to keep customers comfortable and warm. The delicious avocado on artisan bread was heavenly as well as the latte (free due to loyalty card). Always a delight when friends put this up for a meet.

Three of us arrived for breakfast this morning 1x Full 1 x Half and Salmon Benedict.Unfortunately the beans were cold as if they had just come out of the fridge so also were the mushrooms, even the poor old sausage was extremely white and cold and appeared not to have been cooked.Understandably mistakes happen , but on reflection it was the attitude of the Staff that raised concerns they really could not have cared less.We were refunded for the 2 breakfasts,

Had a lovely lunch with family and ate off the all day breakfast menu which I preferred to the lunch menu. I’m not sure it’s available during the week or just weekends. Someone I was with loved the sausage sandwich. Would give the lunch menu 4 stars anyway. Really good quality simple food cooked and presented nicely. Also great cakes and decent coffee. Nice places to sit indoors, upstairs and outside in the garden. Would love a couple more vegetarian options as I’m not keen on avocado or pesto. But still 5 stars and lovely to find somewhere focused on quality rather than low cost in the area.

We've been here on previous holidays but this yr found out it had been extended to outside. The most fantastic multi-layered Victoria sponge cake, full of cream, fresh fruit and deliciously light sponge. Hubby has the same ans Mum has an ultimate lemon sponge layer sponge slice. We all thoroughly enjoyed the cakes the cups of tea and the ambience; although must say the CD was an a loop on some awful 'singer' and not music music. Nearly drove us bad. Went back later in the week and Mum and I had a cheese scone each and sometime after we'd fibished my hubby went to ask where his salmon and soft cheese wrap was. They said it had to be prepared in the kitchen and he waited a further 10-15 minutes to get his lunch. They obviously knew that we knew they'd forgotten it as they offered him a free drink. Not the waiting staffs fault but not good enough. Shame because the food is fab and worth going to

I love Cafe 142. I think it’s a beautiful coffee shop. I came in recently for a bit of lunch on my own. It was clear the staff were stressed as soon as I arrived. I was told menus are on tables. I waited 15 mins to have my order taken, later to find out I was supposed to go to the counter to order. The lady on the counter was clearly extremely stressed and busy, which didn’t make a nice at atmosphere. I was clearly an inconvenience. Such a shame as I love this place. Somethings needs to be done and customer service needs to be improved.

My wife and I visited No. 142 this lunchtime although we are no strangers to this establishment. Everything Vessy serves up is delicious. I had eggs benedict on sourdough toast which was a very generous portion. The poached eggs were perfect. My wife had mushrooms on sourdough toast with poached eggs which again was very nice. Coffee was served piping hot as it should be. If you haven't been here before , please give it a try.

Ordered egg benedict, Pimms, small white wine and toasted BLT. Sat in the beautiful, sunny garden and waited and waited. Pimms arrived with just mint and a strawberry After informing server of correct fruit ingredients of also orange and cucumber which were then added Pimms finally looked like a true Pimms.Food was fabulous and the added sunshine in the corner of the garden was a bonus. Found out it was servers second day of employment. We all have to learn and could not fault service and food other than the Pimms.Came here many times last year and look forward to returning many times again.Can thoroughly recommend this hidden gem in Oulton Broad.

I got the feta Burek after seeing it on Instagram to take out. Also a mini cheesecake for later ! I love this place . The food is amazing . It’s quaint and rustic & I love because it has some features of my cottage inside. Can’t wait for you to open again after lockdown for al fresco dining . A must visit if you haven’t been already ! Lovely cakes/cookies/chocolate/drinks and a really lovely lady.

Second visit in a week! Having had a walk in the park, the other venues were queued up, I didn’t want to stand in snow blizzard , so I decided to return to the car! Opposite where I was parked I spotted 142 and no queue, I decided to try it and in reality I was pleased I’d decided to leave the other venues. I had a coffee, sausage role and a raspberry cheesecake, which I have to say was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. My review is based on the first visit hence the easy decision to return less than a week later. In Oulton Broad and need somewhere to eat, then this is the place!

In these days of restrictions it's nice to see a bit of things how they used to be albeit its takeaway only. Lovely selection of home made fayre to takeaway and lovely drinks. All covid safe with one way system in place through cafe. Loyalty drinks card for regulars. The homemade soups with warm sourdough bread great on a cold day. Lovely walks in area round park or to Carlton Marshes and car parking on road or in car park. Cant wait till end of lockdown when we can sit in or in garden outside.

I had to wait a long time for a bitter hot chocolate and a heavy slice of mould cake. Unfortunately as I was already home it was too late to take it back. Straight in the bin. Never again

I have been to the 142 cafe lots of times for coffee or cake, this time me and my partner decided to go and have a fry up there, and honestly it’s the best fry up we have both ever had. Everything on the plate was delicious, everything was so tasty and seasoned well. This is now my place to go for a reasonably priced tasty fry up. Also the coffee is very good too.

Popped in for Take away coffee. Great flat white made with Oat milk. Also took with me a tasty small quiche for a late lunch. Well worth a visit for a lockdown takeaway. The staff were waring masks socially distancing and extremely friendly and helpful too. Perfect!

Super reasonable, super food and super staff! I visit 142 a lot as it’s my local cafe and I’m never disappointed. The food is simple but always cooked very well and very reasonably priced. The coffee is good and the staff really are a lovely bunch. I always notice how they make time to engage with customers and the older ones love them. It is a teeny place but with plenty of atmosphere. If tables are short inside there are plenty out, some undercover. I can’t recommend it enough really and I’m grateful to have it on my doorstep.

short changed, nice environment and surroundings spoiled by treatment. Last week I ordered a savoury tea looking forward to 2 scones and paid in full. The waitress later came over and said as the scones were massive I would only get one. I felt rather disappointed but didn't like to make an issue in front of my friend. I was however really aggrieved to find although quite big , scones weren't massive but more so, people who ordered the scone and butter option still got a 'massive' scone with no increase in price or 'half' a scone. Did you not like my face? Felt really hurt and upset

Very sunny day so decided to sit outside in café in park. Joined a long queue and after waiting 10 minutes the first person in the queue had still not been served so gave up and looked for somewhere else and found no 142 opposite the park gates and were rely pleased we did .friendly staff, tasty Latte and a wonderful garden to sit in the sun and enjoy the coffee.

Found this on the 1st day as our place didn’t do breakfast, food really good quality and choice. Only Criticism was due to Covid only disposable plates, cups cutlery etc not ideal but can’t be helped. Breakfast was lovely and fresh and we will be back there tomorrow before we leave.

We were with friends saying in a local hotel on a deal. We had been out all day and were looking for somewhere to eat. We stumbled on this restaurant and really enjoyed our visit.We sat outside, lovely summers evening, cocktail in hand, good tasty food, having just picked a selection of dishes for the four of us to share and we all really enjoyed it.Value for money, well we come from London, so not too bad for us, but the food was well presented, good portion sizes and very tasty!

My family and I came to Hemsby for 3 nights and ate here twice in that period. Upon arriving we were able to find our own table and given a menu then you go downstairs to order and payment was either with cash or PayPal which was fine. We had some lovely food when we were there. Not sure if it’s just because of the COVID regulations at the moment but all food is served in plastic/paper plates and same for cutlery. This wasn’t a big deal for us but could be quite tricky using a plastic knife to cut through sourdough. Also lovely to take the kids to the park over the road. Would certainly come again and recommend to anyone going to the area.

Came to this cafe completely by chance. Has plenty of outdoor seating out the back both under cover and the sun if wanted- non smoking tables. Ordered a BLT on toasted ciabatta and avocado on toast. With two drinks, the meal came to £20 for two which was fair considering the portions were large. Would recommend. Had a log book to add details for COVID 19 tracking near the till.

Decided to treat myself to lunch. Had a table outside. Really lovely area with lots of tables well spaced. Delicious lunch and very good value I thought. Plenty for vegetarians. Good friendly service thank you.

Lovely place, something different for Lowestoft however a few points I feel the manager needs to address:1) service needs some help. The waiter seemed incredibly nervous, and did not bring out the correct drinks, think he may need some customer service training2) the sharing platter was a bit disappointing considering it was £20. expected more. Even some fresh bread would of helped3) noticed a few tables were waiting for about 15-20 mins for a drink, waiting time far too longWould of stayed longer however felt that due to the slow wait and underwhelming food, we left.

Nice setting but a little slow just to get two coffees to our table (15 minutes). Breakfast arrived in a reasonable time but all breakfasts come with sourdough bread says the menu but what we were served was cheap white thin sliced bread from a supermarket. The bread wasn’t the issue, it’s not being made aware we would be getting something different to what we ordered. The price should also therefore reflect this.

Visited today for my daughter's birthday. Good social distancing measures in place but still felt friendly and relaxed. We ate our food in the rain in the car but you can't beat simple pleasures. Courgette and lemon cake was amazing and a generous portion. Panini was also delicious as was the really hot creamy hot chocolate. Standards as high as ever. Thank you.

The name might have changed but the amazing quality of the food and the genuine warm welcome hasn't. Open for takeaways at the moment. Had scones and banana bread that is worth travelling from North Essex for. This lovely little cafe never fails to disappoint.

Just received today from friends who placed an order as a treat a wonderful afternoon tea. It was delivered by Calum who presented it to us in a nice box along with a separate order of 2 cookies. Fabulous little place! Been several times for breakfast and cake and always have a great experience. Staff are friendly and service is good, the food is delicious and the cakes are amazing! We ordered a cake to be made and it was brilliant, I would highly recommend, we even bring our dog and sit outside sometimes and he is always greeted it’s a biscuit or two.

What a fabulous evening had by all, food amazing the service was excellent, and great choice of vegan desserts, could not fault anything, will definitely all be returning.

Very cosy cafe on a blustery wet day. Went for coffee and scone. Very tasty, proper coffee. They do a great range have been several times. There are seats upstairs and can’t wait for some good weather to sit in garden after dog walk round the park. Very friendly staff.

I visit oulton broad quite regularly and have always thought how quaint this cafe looks from the outside. We decided to pop in today for a hot drink and am glad I did. Lovely little cafe with a few vegan options for lunch and soya and oat milk. I didn’t see any vegan cakes so didn’t get a cake but this isn’t to say there weren’t any. I didn’t ask as an trying to avoid cake anyway. However would be lovely if they did vegan cake. They are open in the evenings, so will look forward to having food and wine one evening in this super little cafe.

Dropped in here before a business appointment. Very quirky and cosy. Lots to look at. We ordered a can of drink a black coffee jacket potato with cheese and onion and a cheese sandwich. It arrived about 20 minutes later. Nicely presented. The cheese was nice and tasty what there was of it the jacket itself was a little hard. Beautiful salad garnish. My partner enjoyed his sandwich and remarked how nice the coffee was. It came to a little over £15.

What a find! It’s rather unassuming exterior hides a lovely little independent cafe serving amazing food. Really good ingredients, prepared well and served by lovely staff all for very reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re nearby.
