Enjoyed a wonderful 90th birthday celebration. Stunning location, extremely pleasant team, efficient and organised and the food was amazing. Superb menu and really excellent quality meal.

Oh my goodness, this was such a lovely experience and we are so glad we got booked in for lunch. The staff, the location and the food was superb, faultless!! What a great time we had. We've been raving about the quality of the food and overall visit since. Highly recommended a visit.

Popped in for a light lunch after walking up Scolty. Lunch was absolutely lovely, served by a brilliant member of staff. Friendly , professional and welcoming. Was given a lovely seat by the window. Would definitely recommend.!!!

Idyllic table overlooking the River Dee, which was bathed in sunshine. Stunning setting. Our server was extremely attentive and very friendly. She would brighten up anyone’s day. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the produce. It was busy but not noisy so there was a lovely atmosphere. We did not feel rushed to leave after our lunch. We would definitely return.

A cosy, special place to visit. Not only is the food delicious and the service and atmosphere inviting, the surrounding area and falls and stream are so beautiful. Just sitting having a coffee and looking outside on a grey wet day seeing the beauty, feeding the body, mind and soul. A huge favourite for us and so pleased we have discovered this little piece of heaven.

Located on a pretty waterfall, the restaurant is magnificent. The menu is composed of typically Scottish dishes, fresh and refined. The service and prices are proportional to this quality, even if I find the 10 pound glass of wine a little expensive...

Good quality food, great surroundings and service.

Stopped in for tea n coffee (coffee machine was broken 😔) and ice cream floats for the kids, we sat out on the balcony which is beautiful.

We had absolutely stunning food here whilst visiting Scotland, such a high quality and perfectly balanced flavours. The staff also went above and beyond to help us get sorted with a taxi when everywhere was booked up, we were so grateful and couldn't tip much as they only take cash tips and we were all on card - so go, have a great meal, and tip extra on our behalf!

We booked for Sunday Roast, and I have to say the food was superb, and the setting of the restaurant stunning. The Roast Sirloin of beef was tender and cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables delicious. We also had dessert crème brûlée and treacle tart. The whole dining experience was excellent. Attentive and welcoming staff. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful scenery during lovely weather. Coffee, cakes and scone were delish, and not so expensive too for two people. Didn’t know it existed but will definitely come back.

Sunday Roast Beef lunch. Some of the best roast beef we have had in all our years, pink and tender with first class accompanying vegetables. Perfect service from friendly staff. Great value too

Really friendly and helpful staff. They accomodated us well even on a busy sunday, since there was a slight issue with the reservation. Food was great. I got the chicken and the Jus was absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend it.

We dined there twice whilst holidaying in area. Was best food in a restaurant I have had for a very long time. Lovely mix of good ingredients and excellent recipes. The place is not pretentious but very good and the service always comes with a big smile.

A bad experience that just keeps getting worse. We made the mistake of making dinner reservations to dine here several weeks before our trip to Scotland in May. The day of our reservation the restaurant emailed us to say there was only one other couple (with a child) coming in that day and would we move our reservation to the same time they were coming. Shortly after, they emailed again to say they were now without power and were canceling our reservation in a very curt manner. We were out touring all day and got both emails when back at the hotel. We now had to scramble to find a place to have dinner. The point of the reservation is to avoid that, so we were understandably annoyed. The next day while chatting with a couple at a castle, they said they had lunch at the Falls of Feugh the day before. We told them how our reservation was canceled for that very night because they were without power. This couple said they had power when they were there and also that they tried to make a reservation for dinner that night, and were told the restaurant was closed for a private event, a wake. They tried to make reservations for dinner a couple of other nights and were told there were wakes every night. When we arrived home I wrote my honest experience on another review site. A couple of days later I received a long, ranting, YELLING email from the restaurant about how angry they were for me to question their professionalism and complain about them canceling my reservation. If I had printed this thing out it would have been a couple of pages long. Long, ranting, unprofessional, rude and dishonest email. They said the reason they had emailed to get me to come in early was FOR MY BENEFIT, as it would be more atmospheric to dine with other diners and because that couple had a young child they couldn’t move their booking. Nothing says romantic dinner like a screaming toddler. I believe they wanted to change my reservation so that they could close early to not staff the restaurant all night for 2 tables, and that is understandable. Why tell such an outrageous lie about it. But it doesn’t matter, because the point of my review is that they canceled my reservation and left us scrambling and if we had it to do all over again we would have booked someplace else and given this place a pass. I decided to take the high road and not respond to their email. Today, I get another random email from them, this one from another person forwarding me an email from someone else. It has been over 2 weeks since the reservation they refused to honor and they are still harassing me. They wouldn’t fill my belly, but they sure are filling my inbox. From looking at other reviews on several sites, it seems a lot of people complain that their reservations were not honored and they were not notified until the last minute, if at all. In the first rude email the snarky woman who wrote it asked what they could have done better. I’m sure the restaurant will be reading my review here and will send me lots of emails complaining about it. So here is my advice on what they can do better. Behave as thought other people’s time matters. Look at your reservations a week ahead of time to see if you mistakenly booked someone when you have a private event booked or if you have no other diners coming in that night and would like to close or reschedule. Not letting people know until the last minute is disrespectful of their time. And when you get a negative review, take it in and try to learn from it. Don’t lash out. Think of what you can do better and then try to be better. Don’t harass reviewers because they write an honest review. Demanding my time and attention when you wouldn’t even bother to honor my reservation is beyond unprofessional.

Food was of great quality, very tasty, but the service was very disappointing today. The waitresses were not very knowledgeable, but they must have just started: hopefully they'll learn the job quickly! To finish the meal, two of us asked for ice-creams and one for a cappuccino. After asking again after 5-10 minutes, we had finished the ice-creams when the cappuccino eventually arrived! One of the ice-creams was served in a plastic tub, it didn't look very professional... Nor did the billing stage, as the very late cappuccino, which we were told wouldn't be charged, appeared on the bill so we had to discuss it again with the waiter! Not sure we'll be back...

Lovely food. Locally sourced, well presented and served by friendly and efficient staff.

Wonderful food. Delicious vegetarian choice. Really great selection of vegetables served with meals. Lovely service staff and beautiful location. Oh and desserts are just wonderful . Much more thought and attention paid to them compared to most restaurants. Can't recommend highly enough.

We stopped by for tea and coffee, and had some carrot cake and victoria sponge. If the weather allows, there are some tables to sit outside.

The restaurant was busy and coped well with a large family party. A good, expensive menu in a beautiful location.

The chef has some very strange ideas, some work others didn't. It was an extremely expensive mediocre wine list, Jay Rayner would not approve! The chef obviously doesn't run a tight and happy team- the waiting staff were very indifferent. The menu was unpriced, so we had to ask how much everything was, although it was on the dessert menu, but that was separate from the main menu. It's obviously changed hands since we were last there, two years ago. Wouldn't rush back.

Great location with a riverside terrace near the Falls. Good choice of courses and a specials menu. Food was all delicious and well presented - 4 of us had different meals and everyone was happy witb their selection. Friendly staff and good value for money. Will definitely return.

We loved this restaurant. So nice, we came twice during our holidays. Once with our daughter hubby and young children, and once in our own as a couple. Very friendly staff and lovely food. Desserts are a little on the small size, but we’re delicious. We felt the starters menu had little choice. My main course chicken was absolutely delicious, as was my hubby’s Angus beef liver. Can’t wait to return

Visited recently on a Saturday night with friends and had a wonderful time. Even though there were big parties in the other dining areas, we were happy to be seated in the entrance room with more space around us but still river views. Staff were helpful and attentive and menu was delightful with 5 choices per course plus additional offerings available on the night. Food was cooked to perfection - I had Salmon & Prawns followed by Braised Beef and then Creme Brûlée. Wine list had plenty to offer too! Top marks all round.

A few weeks ago I booked, well in advance, a Saturday night table for my wife and I to celebrate our wedding anniversary and, as we've visited the restaurant many times before over the years, we were looking forward to our meal. John Chomba is an excellent chef and the food is always imaginative. [A previous review of mine rated it 5*]However, when we arrived at 7pm, we were told that two large groups were already in the two dining rooms and that our table was in the large entrance room where two tables were laid. A lady asked if we'd received a phone call about the situation and I said we hadn't, so she said she could put us in one of the main rooms, but that it was noisy. So we felt that we had to accept the table in the brightly lit area near the kitchen and tried to make the best of it, but we were shocked when we received the menu which consisted of a few printed and laminated sheets which wouldn't have been out of place in a seaside cafe! We were told that the "specials" were a melon starter and Southern style chicken and chips....far from special. The menu was so far removed from John's wonderful food and I wondered if he was actually behind the scenes and had the two large groups received the same menu. A lady said that he was on his own in the kitchen and that she'd come down from Braemar to help out. The food we ordered was OK, and prompt, but not particularly good, and I was puzzled that my fish and chips were on a cold plate with a salad. We didn't bother with wine as it didn't seem to fit the occasion and opened one at home instead! Given John's previous response to a similar review to this one, we did try to be kind and make allowances, but I do wish we'd had a phone call in advance of the evening and we would probably have celebrated elsewhere then returned to the Falls of Feugh on some other occasion. Sadly, it was a very disappointing experience and most unusual given the other glowing reviews and fantastic food photos,so we're very sad to just tell this as we found it and feel for John at this difficult time. The very young staff deserve credit for their positivity and friendliness, with the wee lassie who completed our bill at the till beseeching us to return when things were back to normal, so the one star is really for them!

Fantastic food, fantastic location and just want was needed to break up our daily tour. The falls didn't fail to amaze either. It is a little on the pricey side but we thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't busy when we where there ad the puddigs where to die for.

This restaurant is in a very picturesque location next to the Falls of Feugh. We went for Sunday lunch with friends and we’re not disappointed. We are so glad to see this restaurant reopen after lockdown. The food is delicious and the staff very efficient and friendly. We had the Sunday roast which was sirloin of beef with the usual trimmings. We can definitely recommend a visit.

We dropped in by unbooked ,they were able and happy to accommodate us . Lovely selection of food ,we opted for coffee and a sandwich cant fault it at all . And a beautiful setting too

Went for Sunday lunch. Waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was superb. The skirlie was just like my granny made. This was our first visit but we will most definitely be back. Added bonus very dog friendly inside and out. Already recommended to friends. A hidden gem.
