Fabian's Kitchen in Powys

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague who stayed across the street in the Metropole Hotel. We had a fantastic meal, the staff were wonderful and the wine was really good quality. I’d happily eat here again and again. I’d be a regular if I was a local.

Decided to order a takeout on our way back to our accommodation as we wanted to relax. Found Fabian’s Kitchen on Google and decided to order the Bourbon BBQ burger and the kebab. As it was a busy Saturday, there was a small wait but nothing too horrific! Portion sizes are brilliant and the food was absolutely delicious. I’m just upset we don’t live closer as I’d definitely have a meal as a monthly treat! If we’re in the area again, we’ll definitely be back.

My family and I are on holiday near Llandrindod and decided to order our evening meal from Fabian’s Kitchen. We were absolutely delighted with the quality and portion size of food we ordered. The owners were very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended.

Excellent fresh curry. Super-friendly family-run business. They're not doing dine-in meals at the moment just take-aways, due to the challenges of getting good, hard-working waiting staff, but they very kindly let me dine in as it was just me. Speaks volumes for their customer service.

Had dinner here and we were very impressed. The owners were extremely welcoming and really went the extra mile when preparing a gluten free dish for my wife who is coeliac. If you have dietary restrictions you can safely eat here and not worry but if you have allergies give them notice and the choices will be less limited. Will most definitely eat here when we're next in the area.

I was just passing through Llandrindod and decided to give this restaurant a try. A family run establishment which does a range of curries, burgers, kebabs and pizzas I had the vegetable bhajis as a special starter which were lovely and to follow the Murgh (chicken) Makkani served with rice, poppadom and mango chutney and I thought was excellent value for a main dish. Staff are very helpful and friendly Thoroughly recommend

What a top meal - we each had a different type of burger - all were delicious and finished with gusto. The Biscoff cheesecake was also excellent. Top marks!

3rd review, I think, but has to be done. Fabians is consistently excellent. The restaurant itself is lovely. The food is ALWAYS great and the service is consistently superb! It's so nice to go to a restaurant where you are made to feel comfortable and welcome from the outset. I also appreciate that Fabian makes every single dish from scratch. So many restaurants use pre-made frozen veg etc, you wont find that in Fabians. Very tasty food in a great venue. Thanks again!

We have just visited Fabian’s and I have to say what a fantastic meal we had . I had pre warned them that one of my grandkids is lactose intolerant. They did an amazing job of catering to his needs and he was really good with the food they served him and all of enjoyed the food ,service and lovely atmosphere. Well done 👏👏 we will be back

Excellent food I can see why ghis place gets fantastic reviews. I had the blue cheese burger and it was delicious, I am extremely fussy with burgers but this was perfect coleslaw home made too. The menu is one I would like try everything on it. I saw the cheesecake going out , looked yummy but I was to full. The service was very attentive and the seating area very clean. I would highly recommend a visit if your in the area. Like I said its the highlight of the town.

We had curry, pizza and a child's meal plus deserts and we all enjoyed it, pizzas are made on naan bread with a really tasty tomato sauce and perfect amount of toppings - very delicious. All is freshly made, you won't be disappointed.

My two daughters (15 and 16) together with my wife and I took a chance on this excellent restaurant and returned every night of our stay. Great food, cooked well burgers, curry and pizza with some special deserts. Friendly staff We will be back. Loved it. (Good value too)

Not surprised this place is #1 in Llandod. Good mix of options on the menu. The hot fish curry was fantastic.

Our restaurant of choice in Llandrindod for 'old boys' annual reunion. For several years now, always a warm welcome, great food and service from Fabian, Nasra and team.

We had a lovely experience here. The food was really good and reasonably price. The service was very professional, friendly and we enjoy a laugh with the chef Fabian and his lovely wife as they are very amiable people. Big up to their daughter who was making the delicious pizzas. We like it so much we went back for take away two days later. Would definately go again. Thanks for a lovely time.

Once again another great meal at Fabians. We travel up here a few times a year to visit family and always book in here for a meal. The menu is very good and the quality of the food is really good. If you are in the town this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. See you on our next visit.

One of our party was vegan and from the very beginning Fabian made it clear that he wanted to look after her. He came to the table and chatted over the courses. The food was obviously freshly cooked, good portion size and really tasty. Onion bahjis for the vegan and crispy prawns for our starters, then fish curry, chicken murgkani and spinach and falafel burgers - all delicious

What a beautiful meal.. The staff were friendly, couldn't do enough for you. When we ordered the chicken curry, the chef bought us a sample of the sauce to make sure it was to our taste, never had that before, very impressed. Definitely recommend and would definitely go back. What a gem of a restaurant.

We cannot sing the praises of this gem of a restaurant highly enough. It is is truly a family affair: we were given a warm welcome by the owner's son, food was cooked by dad and served by mum. There were not a huge number of dishes on the menu, so the emphasis is clearly on quality rather than quantity (although portion sizes are very generous), with everything cooked fresh using high quality ingredients. The result is food that tastes superb, is nicely presented, but not pretentious. Between us, we had a fish curry (succulent chunks of Tilapia in a rich and sumptuous tomato and coconut sauce with delicately flavoured basmati rice, popadom and mango chutney), a potato, spinach and chickpea curry (aromatic and satisfying), also with rice, popadom and mango chutney. We a delicious garlic naan with it (useful to mop up the delicious sauce). We drank a very nice Chilean Sauvignon Blanc with it, which was quite reasonably priced for a restaurant wine. The puddings sounded and looked amazing, but we were too full, so came away with a takeaway chocolate, cherry and orange brownie to enjoy later! Everything was accompanied by a friendly smile. Worth going to Llandrindod Wells, just for this!

Ate here with 6 colleagues over 2 nights. Food was top quality, they catered for one of our vegan eaters with plenty of options. Great variety of options on the menu at excellent prices. Had the pepperoni nann bread pizza one night and the katsu chicken burger the other, amazing owners are great people as well, genuinely care about the business and custom.

Truly amazing experience. The service and food were 5*. Our son has severe allergies and the chef cooked food especially for him, he even came out to the table before and after the meal to explain how he had prepared the food and after to check everything was okay. The food was delicious and the service was the best we have experienced. We would be regulars if we lived locally. Thank you Fabians kitchen.

During our stay we visited here 2 nights ina row.Fabian runs this place along with his wife. Both were very friendly & helpful. The menu is simple, comfort & value for money. Food is tasty.Both Fabian & his wife were very accommodative & helpful in choosing the menu.

Took a big group here recently, ordered the food in advance and it was all spot-on in every way. Beautiful food ranging from Fish and Chips through steaks to tasty curry plates. Everyone loved it.

We had a lovely meal for 3. The curry was delicious and full of large pieces of chicken, all home cooked. The chicken Diane was a good portion, well presented and was delicious. All of this topped off with friendly, efficient & Covid Safe service. The House-Wine was nice and the draught lager was cold and delicious. Would definitely go again, when in the area.

I first dined here about 2 years ago and the food was fantastic, so I made a special effort to visit again. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the food was at best okay. I had thick-lipped mussels which were tough (overcooked?) my son and I both had piri-piri chicken and each had one piece of chicken that was fine and one that was tough and looked under cooked. So, a very underwhelming dining experience and one that I would not recommend.

Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch yesterday. Between us we had the lamb and the chicken, and both pudding choices. Excellent selection of vegetables and all perfectly cooked. No soggy overcooked broccoli here! We wholeheartedly recommend Fabian and look forward to another superb meal very soon.

Came again for the 3rd or 4th time, but this time with my family!! Surprised by how well the restaurant was managed during the pandemic, but everything was safe! Hand Sanitiser straight in front of the door, only 3-4 tables open a night, and everyone is spread apart! The food was splendid! I had the Creamy mushrooms with garlic bread as a starter, never fails to satisfy my tastebuds! Medium rare steak (cooked perfectly) with the perfect peppercorn sauce. And a lovely chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce which completed this wonderful experience on a complete high! Best place I’ve been! Great service. 100% recommend!

Cannot compliment this wonderful restaurant and the brilliant staff enough. I am such a terrible eater and so averse to trying new things but i went to a Moroccan themed evening and i had absolutely no reservatione about trying the new foods as every time i come to this restaurant i try something different from the menu and am never dissappointed! The Moroccan evening was sublime! Fabians understanding of food is second to none that ive experienced and as well as a huge variety of new tastes and flavours i also learned a lot about the food i was eating and the culture it was from. Cannot wait for the next one!

In the first monthly Sunday Supper Club, we feasted on five courses of fine distinctively different, South Indian cuisine, expertly prepared, explained and served. The dosas were to die for, with many delicacies I have never encountered before and all accompanied with poppadoms, delicious chutneys and mango lassi. We were served a good balance of mainly vegetarian dishes with superb fried fish and chicken curry, there really was something (many things) to delight everyone present. I can't wait till the next Sunday Supper.

Llandrindod Wells in Wales. We stayed at The Metropole Hotel the evening before visiting Abbey Cwn Hir. The whole trip was marvelous.The hotel was very busy (Christmas Fair this particular weekend) so we had a walk round to see what the local area had to offer. We were delighted to find 'Fabian's Kitchen' The Chef Patron was friendly, informative and offered a varied menu. The other customers foodk looked so good it was hard to chose. I went for the sea bass with spinach, it was delicious and generous, excellent value. Theservice was really friendly as were other customers. My partner had the chicken curry which again was generous and delicious. The desserts were delightful. I am so sad we were only visiting or this would definitely be an establishment we wouod visit at least once per week. Well done all for creating fabulous food in a friendly, intimate environment.

Tonight we took my step son to Fabians. Again they didn’t disappoint. My step son commented on how much he enjoined the food. In his words it was the ‘best steak’ he has had. This restaurant is by far the best. The food is cooked Fresh, how you like it. We have visited a few times and Fabian remembers exactly how both myself and husband enjoy our curry. They even cater for my pizza obsessed daughter! We travel over 45 minutes to eat here and I would rather do that than travel two minutes to our local. ICan’t Recommend Fabians kitchen enough for both the food, chef and the entire staff!!!

A large group of us ate here for two nights. I had steak on the first night which was cooked well and tasted great. The second night I had the chicken curry which was really good, and my husband said the fish curry. We would definitely recommend eating here. The food and service were excellent for good value too.

1st visit to Fabian's kitchen green lip mussels starter in ginger and coriander beautiful and the mozzarella starter with warm rolls lush. Mains my steak was excellent and sea bass was not just a small fillet but 2 thick moist very tasty with sauce potatoes veg will be going again. Service spot on friendly staff very nice red wine and reasonable prices

Food was bland and ingredients used within our meals were not of great quality. (Fish, Steak) Service was good, however check your bill as ours had a bottle of wine added onto it which we did not have!!! Would not recommend.

My first visit to Fabians although I knew Chef from his time at Jules restaurant. Cozy friendly atmosphere in the centre of town. The menu is not huge, but the food is delicious. I had the chicken curry and my friend the fish - both excellent and much nicer than in the nearby Indian restaurant. The winelist is very good - the Merlot is superb, and the desserts to die for. I had the special, warm figs with mascarpone..... Mmmmmm! This little restaurant deserves far more custom. Service is perfect, friendly.... I really cant think of a single negative!

We ate at the fabian whilst visiting Wales and can honestly say the food was delicious. The curry dishes were outstanding and cooked to perfection. The chef and his staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend The Fabian

On a somewhat unscheduled trip last weekend we pulled into this old Victorian spa town at sunset last Saturday. We had low/modest expectations of finding a decent meal in the town but were very pleasantly surprised with Fabians. The moment we opened the door we were greeted by the most wonderful fragrance - aromas we had not experienced since a week of culinary delights in southern India. I'm not sure what else was on the menu but the aroma of the three curries on the menu ensured we looked no further. Without hesitation this was the most delightful and traditional curry I've had in 30 years living in England. The restaurant is family owned and operated which always ensures good service, the place is spotlessly clean and good value and can be highly recommended. I hope we find ourselves in that part of the country again!

We tried several restaurants in and around Llandrindod while on holiday and this was the one we returned to a second time. The outside may not look imposing, but inside is well appointed, clean, tables well spaced, staff welcoming and efficient and good cooking at moderate prices. I had the Sea Bass on both occasions (yes it was that good), cooked to perfection, with just the right quantity of saute potatoes and veg. My husband had the fish curry, which was cooked to the heat he preferred. Indeed everything is cooked to order, which is why you may have to wait a little. It is worth it!. I had Eton mess, beautifully balanced. Despite a damson crumble, sourced from a local farmer being on offer, my husband found the pears and ice cream very acceptable. At about £40 for two people, two courses, you should go away happy and satisfied.

Fabian knows how to deliver exceptional dishes properly putting together and balancing out the right quantity of spices giving an epic Indian food experience.

I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Excellent food, helpful staff and great value.. what more could you want? I was part of a group of thirty, and everyone was praising this restaurant. We’ll certainly be back!

After a very enjoyable 5 hour round of golf at Llandrindod Wells, Fabians was recommended to us by the golf professional. It was a good recommendation. The food was lovely. Good choices. My brother had the fish curry, my sister in law had the sea bass, my husband had the gammon & I had the cod & chips. All happy with our choices.

If your thinking of visiting Fabian’s Kitchen, then do. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I had the sea bass served on saute potatoes and spinach, and was well cooked. Personally I would have preferred a few more vegetables, maybe should have oredered a side dish to go with it.

I came to Llandrindod Wells and Fabian's Kitchen was suggested as a great place to eat by the hotel owners. It was excellent. The service was friendly and the food (I had one of their special currys) was extremely tasty and well cooked. I would certainly eat there again.

This is the second time I have visited due to the exceptional food and service we had the first time. The food is cooked fresh and the menu is incredibly varied but small enough to make choosing achievable! Fabian cooks his food to order taking the time to understand what each dinner wants and delivering the requested food exactly as desired. I have very specific food requirements and was made to feel incredibly welcome which is unusual. I usually feel like a burden, no matter how good the food ends up being. My experience here is the complete opposite. Options for all dietary choices are available and are delivered in good time with the most delicious flavours.

Popped in when passing and they happily found us a table. As others have said the fish curry is great. Good value for money, friendly staff and incredibly tasty food. Would definately recommend.

Stylish surroundings and friendly staff greeted is here on the way back from the Royal Welsh Show. We are glad that we chose this restaurant. The menu was an interesting selection of cuisines and when it was served it was well cooked and presented.

Llandrindod is a very quiet town in the evening, however if you want a first class meal in exceptionally clean surroundings look no further than this place. Three nights and three different meals helped us enjoy our four day stay In Llandrindod. If we tour this way again we will definitely eat here. Well done.

We booked in advance for a Saturday at Fabians for a family birthday meal. It says a lot about the place that it was fully booked with smiling customers.

We visited early on a Wednesday evening, the welcome was great from both Fabian and his wife. The menu is a little limited, but it hopefully offers something for everyone. Food is prepared fresh and is well cooked. My steak was cooked to perfection and my wife's fish Curry was a delight.

Been several times, as a ‘retired’couple, then with friends and recently with family members, including their young children, including a new born. Attitude of owners and staff, excellent. Went to Fabians Kitchen this evening with my family. We had an extremely warm welcome from the whole family...and throughout the entire meal we were very well looked after. The food was fantastic, portions are huge, freshly cooked by Fabian who even tailored the fish curry to my taste! The atmosphere is relaxed, and the customer service was above and beyond, even when the restaurant was full. We will be back again very soon. One last point.... we hope Fabian had a good birthday!
