This is by far my favourite place in Glastonbury. Some days I crave their food so much, I drive over 25 mins into Glastonbury purely to sample the buffet. All pure, vegan, organic and healthy! Some yummy paleo and grain free options too, Perfect!! Immediate food that's great quality. I've always experienced the staff as super friendly and I've been upteen times. I was prompted to write this review after reading some negative reviews. Personally, I'm so delighted that this cafe exists and would 100% recommend it!I haven't been during covid so can't comment on their policy.

Glastonbury is a bit short of take away coffee at present. This might explain £3 a coffee. The oat milk flavoured coffees were pretty unpleasant and went unfinished

I went on a journey of sorts to the Tor and traveled back down in the pouring rain. Everywhere else seemed to be closed, and so I swung by here for a cup of coffee while I waited for my bus back to Bristol. Firstly, I should say I love Glastonbury and feel a strong connection here. I should also say that I enjoy the fact that Excalibur Cafe describes it's concept as "local, organic, wildcrafted...bursting with flavour and energy, food for the health conscious, for the curious, for the adventurous at heart". Go online and read their menu, it's absolutely fantastic, I won't fault them for that - especially as I didn't purchase any food. Being a devoted Vegan and plant based chef myself I'm really interested in the food concept in and of itself. My issue is I didn't know anything about the menu. Because when you walk in nobody greets you. And there are no menus on the tables. And the space is so large and dimly lit it feels slightly inhospitable. I ordered an oat cappucino from a young guy at the bar (who was really easy going and courteous - but impersonal). I was absolutely astonished that the small coffee was on it's way to costing £5.00 a cup - at £3.75! Shocking. I don't know how they can justify charging that much, when with all due respect to its organic credentials, it doesn't even taste particularly special and the oat milk tastes slightly acidic. After generating an appetite on my rain-drenched pilgrimage I was really looking forward to a piece of cake, but taking a look at the variety at the counter I was totally thwarted by the prices again and I was intimidated into forgoing the pleasure - much less had to reluctantly decide not to. A small, average sized slice of cake - cake of limited variety, and below average aesthetic - costs between £5.00-£6.00. Seriously, what on Earth is going on here guys? Where do you think we are exactly? I've been to cheaper plant-based cafes in Covent Garden! You're in Glastonbury. Is everyone here loaded or something? Who on Earth can afford to frequent this place? I'd like to know because the prices here are absolutely crazy. I'd say the owners seriously need to reconsider this before they begin to lose business - which in an economy like ours today, and with so many other cafes in town, they surely will. By the looks of the other reviews on here I'm not the first person to be stunned by the way in which this place is alienating people. The other strange thing was a guy, who I think was the owner, seemed really surprised that I was sitting by the window. Before I sat down a lady was sitting not far from me singing to herself, and when she left I sat where she had been because it was closer to the radiator. I was soaking wet from the rain and hoped I could dry off. The radiator wasn't even on so I just sat there shivering over my cup of £3.75 shade grown Peruvian Mayni coffee. Then the said guy appeared from around the corner and said something along the lines of "Oh, you're sitting there! My friend was here a minute ago, and now you're there!" He then proceeded to ignore me and talk to his friend, another employee, about the cafe logo and how it's the sword in the stone fused with the Tor itself. He, an employee who I think I heard referred to as "the chef", and another guy on a laptop all just crowded the small area I was sitting in and were talking really loudly about the window - after making a strange fuss about me sitting by the radiator. Not a bad fuss, not a good fuss - just an ambiguous one. I couldn't get out of the corner. Behind me I noticed a woman floating around by the counter bare footed asking the guy at the bar if the almond milk had sugar in it because she was obviously, understandably anxious about the smallest trace of refined sugar entering her system. Pure gold. You couldn't write these things - they just happen! There was also a funny book sitting on the shelf next to me with ridiculous typos in its title which I found quietly amusing. For me, the bottom line is: this is a huge space, most of it is empty. It's not very welcoming. It is dimly lit and freezing cold on a wet Winter late afternoon/early evening. The staff are cool, but too cool to care apparently. No menus readily available, nor offered by staff. A cup of coffee is on its way to costing £5.00, while a small slice of cake is between £5.00-£6.00. I do understand that this doubtlessly reflects the rarity and quality of the ingredients, but it's a shame the owners are unable to balance this with making such produce financially viable/accessible to ordinary customers. We are living in difficult times. As much as I love it I, and many others, can't afford this kind of exotic, rare and mysterious specialty stuff. Pricing people out like this sends out really bad signals and comes across as being very exclusive. And it doesn't feel very "Glastonbury" to estrange people in this way. I'm sure the owners aren't aware that that's what they're doing - but hopefully this customer feedback might help them to become aware. I'd say keep your concept awesome - as your menu is really interesting! But do some work on your accounts and your suppliers and see if you can lower your prices, because you're driving a lot of people away with prices as they currently are. Listen to your customer feedback. Your prices are ludicrous! :-( I certainly will be back to beautiful and blessed Glastonbury, but sadly I won't return to Excalibur.

We were walking in the high street looking for a cafe. Most of them were very busy, but this one was almost empty. Thst should have been a warning!! Two hot drinks came to £8.25!! They were not even very tasty, made with almond milk which left a dry taste in our mouths. Next time we visit, we will wait elsewhere for a better, cheaper proper drink.

Went with my partner and ordered Excalibur burger and shepherds pie. The shepherds pie was good once my partner had added salt and pepper. Burger tasty but lukewarm. Service was slow and they had substited one item without telling us and forgot another. Ok, but will be going back to Rainbows End or 100 Monkeys next time - both of which are better.

Wow...I have never experienced such rudeness from waiting staff in my life.. the waiter was asked to put salad in box to takeaway as the initial order was taken incorrectly and we received too much. Not a problem as I would take it home. Leaving the cafe I approached the counter to ask for my salad. The waiter basically accused us of being liars and was extremely defensive and hostile. My friend was arguing the toss, but I told her to leave it as you will never get any reasonable argument with a person like that. I have read your previous reviews and it appears that this has been an issue with your staff before. It is a shame as I am local to Glastonbury and will not recommend that people visit this establishment. The food is extremely expensive and with this treatment to customers I am surprised you have any! It just gives veganism and Glastonbury a bad reputation! Arrogance.....

I was out for a pleasant afternoon with my friend. We had finished our shopping and picked This place as it had a nice feel to it. Food was ok, we had Chefs Special, Greek Salad. Service was a bit haphazard at the till. We ended up with an extra salad, that we were charged for. My friend asked the waiter to put it into a box for her to take home. He said he would have eaten it if she wasn’t going to have it. We both laughed. Got to the front desk, asked for the salad. The waiter flatly denied hearing us ask for it to be saved???? My friend was about to leave as she couldn’t be bothered to argue. I stood up for her and argued with this very smug guy, and said “hang on, both of us both asked for the salad to be saved and boxed up to take away”. I have never seen such a quick change in attitude. This guy basically said we didn’t say anything of the sort!!!!???? Hang on, 2 of us did! So, food and ambiance up to the point this unpleasant man ruined our afternoon...7. After that, minus 1. Common guys, you left us both feeling pretty rubbish over a salad. You might want to review your staff training programme for staff. Sorry to leave such a bad review. Alison

We first visited Excalibur quite soon after it had opened, and though the food was very high quality we found the place a little shiny and bright for our usual tastes, but after years of enjoying eating and drinking in dark corners of old pubs and cafes on ancient chairs and tables in and around Glastonbury we found last night's experience in Excalibur was actually very refreshing and unusually metropolitan for the town. I had a pizza and my wife an Excaliburger; they were served with charm and were seriously good, and complemented by an excellent Merlot too. Thanks, Excalibur, you'll see us again soon.

My son and I visited this cafe for a drink while in Glastonbury. I hesitated when I saw the price of £3.75 for a tall coffee, £3.75 for a breakfast tea but hoped the taste would merit the over inflated price. Any coffee that hits the £3 + threshold I usually swerve. Unfortunately both drinks were unpleasant and my son could hardly drink his and left it. A waste of money. The cafe itself is lovely inside and has good facilities, but the drinks were overpriced and not worth it. I will not be returning and will go to the other reasonably priced cafes in town that also offer vegan options.

Plant based food could be great, especially if it’s carefully spiced and herbed. This was not the case. A rather bland chickpea burger , lacking texture and with floppy salad and reheated potato wedges. It was not properly hot either, which considering they are into “wild preparation” is a particular worry since it sounds like they make it in a field.

Okay, I know, "vegan" is a dirty word to a lot of people. It used to be for me, as well. We met some vegan people who cooked for us, though, and showed us that vegan cooking could be delicious and easy. So when they said "hey, let's go to England", we weren't worried. And this restaurant had AMAZING food. In addition to an "all you care to eat" buffet (which my partner enjoyed), they had a range of hearty and homey dishes and desserts. We have visited this restaurant three or four times now and always loved the unusual burger which was very dark, earthy tasting and not squishy which is my wife’s pet hate with Vegan burgers. The food isn’t cheap but worth it when the food is good. When we called in last the burgers we like have gone from the menu, replaced by blander, squishy bean ones. The potato wedges are not crispy on the outside and seem reheated. If they are not reheated then we are not sure why they are like this. Tea is lovely but the teapots are so shallow that the tea leaves barely touches the water. The first Lady I spoke to when ordering looked like I’d massacred every animal on earth! Glad to say she walked round later and seemed happier (we all have bad days).

I can truly say it was the worst cup of coffee I have ever had. The coffee beans were a terrible blend and extremely bitter. The milk tasted odd, too, until my daughter informed me that they used almond milk being a plant-based restaurant. Well...I had no idea! Also, I had arrived late and my 3 companions had paid. I gave the waiter £10.00 and told him to take for my coffee, as the others had already paid and I got back £6.50 change. £3.50 for a very small, bitter, and tongue-curdling latte! Unfortunately the burger mixture was very sticky and full of sesame seeds and a very odd texture. It was flavourless and difficult to eat/enjoy. Not something I would serve up if I'd cooked it! My hot dog had been moulded by hand (I could see the finger prints in it) so it looked disturbingly like a piece of poo - totally unappetising. Went here last night and over all it seemed like a great place, however ordered the dragons breath pizza with chillis assuming it was a spicy meal, the food was great but was ruined by the fact it was drizzled In some sort of sugary maple syrup stuff. We where going to get a dessert but the pizza itself was so sweet we couldn’t quite stomach any dessert. Weird combination

Only popped in for coffee and cake which was very good. The food on the hot buffet looked appetising and seemed to be very popular and you could eat as much as you like. We will definitely be going back next time we are in Glastonbury.

A more than worthy edition to the Glasto high street and it brings good quality, wholesome and healthy vegan food where before it was surprisingly lacking considering Glastonbury’s open minded attitudes.

I am a recent aspiring vegan and regular visitor to Glastonbury. I had travelled with my partner who is long term vegan, we came here for lunch, the staff were friendly however the food was not up to scratch.

Avoid the Pendragon burger at all costs. It was awful! A small and a regular burger plus two cans of drink cost £33. The burger itself resembled reconstituted fig with a hint of liquorice. Ok I am a foodie and it was probably fennel but then it didn’t taste like it. It was inedible, a total waste of money and an overall horrible experience.

I really loved visiting this place! I had the ‘I am’ chakra tea and it was AMAZING! It came in these lovely cast iron tea pots and matching cups. We sat there for over an hour. The staff were lovely. They left us be, but were helpful and friendly. Will definitly be back.

Although my initial reaction to the price of their VG/GF Camelot breakfast was too high, their produce is not mass-produced.

A really lovely vibe with exceptional staff. Loved the coffee and green juice. The staff make this place. Well worth a visit if you are vegetarian or vegan.

Loved the look of the place and was very interested to try the vegan burger. The staff were friendly enough on arrival but there was a bit of a pretentious vibe from some others. Ordered two burgers, one with wedges, the other with potato salad. We both ended up with potato salad but we didnt make a fuss as we were hungry and just wanted to eat. The burger was so dry it was actually an effort to eat it. It was bitter tasting as the edges were burnt. If these burgers had been hanging about for a while, or reheated it wouldn't surprise me. The potato salad was almost as bland, with no sign of any seasoning. The 'sourdough' bun had somehow morphed into a plain, dry bun on its journey from the kitchen. These two burgers and a couple of cans of drink set us back £35 which for the quality of the cooking is robbery. Style over substance here, based on this visit. I really wanted to enjoy this place but the food was terrible at the prices they are charging.

Dropped into this cafe without realising it was vegan. However, the quality of the food was very good and a great alternative experience on the foodie front

Our inn Keeper Valerye recommended this place and it did not disappont. The food was totally on point! Excellent home made veggie burger, and pizza. Green juice was just the way you want it to be, the vortex enhanced water was soooo wonderful. It was one of the busiest days of the year (solstice) and we still got good service, they handled the volume pretty well, mom had to wait a bit for her food, ours came out first, but othter than that no complaints. It was clean and the atmosphere was sunny and nice.

We visited here for lunch on the way back from a family getaway. The buffet looked inviting therefore most of us ordered this. The price of it was overpriced for vegan food, since it is literally half that price for buffets in other veggie/vegan restaurants at home. The Whole Earth cans are also £3 EACH. Same restaurant at home is again half the price. My brother in law paid £7 for what was essentially a hot chocolate? The most annoying part was how long the staff took to serve my mother. Surely counter staff should monitor who has been stood there waiting the longest and serve accordingly however the rude server was happy to serve her friends and people jumping the queue without any apology or recognition of my Mum just standing there. This is BASIC customer service and the whole place was just pretentious and rude. Not enough money in the world would convince me to go back here not because of quality of the food but just the way they treat people.

I have used this eating place a few times never been disappointed, staff are very friendly and helpful , the food is a fair price for a real tasty freshly cooked meal , the surroundings are comfortable and light and airy.

Thought we would try this cafe on our recent visit to Glastonbury. Firstly it took ages to get anyone to take my order despite staff talking amongst themselves, ignoring people waiting to be served at the til and attending to other jobs. We got there at 11.35 and was told breakfast menu finished at 11.30 and that we couldn’t order off the lunch menu until 12!?! So they have half an hour where you can’t order any food?! When the food arrived it it was nice enough but not amazing. It also cost £40 for two drinks and two lunches.

Vegan Burgers, vegan pizza, healthy teas and concoctions. Fancy vegan coffees are lovely but this time I found the buffet, wow, loads of healthy vegan choices all for a very reasonable price

I don't usually leave reviews for cafes but the experience I had the other day was so severe I felt I had to warn future clientele. The food was half decent, but the people serving behind the bad are the most disgusting group of people I have ever come across in the hospitality field, they were chit chatting and almost ignored us until we requested some service. I have eaten In restaurants all over the world and I have never seen anything so absurd in my life.

Extremely disappointed with whole experience of this place, asked whether we wanted small or regular sized juices we opted for regular (of which still seemed small) and proceeded to be charged £15, even the serving member of staffed seemed embarrassed to ask for the payment!! Not usually one to complain about prices but this was completely over the top. Vegan buffet on offer really looked no different to a ‘build your own’ salad bar in the local supermarket and prices for that were again way over the top from memory at £11 or £12 a plate! To top it off you could over hear staff discussing the previous evenings social antics of which weren’t particularly pleasant. Wouldn’t return here.

Best vegetarian cafe in town. Dairy free and gluten options, this is a busy place. They have menu options, and at least on a Bank Holiday Monday there's a hot buffet. Also a yummy selection of dessert options. Best free WiFi around. Staff is friendly. Stop in for a bite or a coffee. Easy, relaxed environment. Good value pricing. Highly recommended.

Right off the bat, the service was not very friendly and gave the impression that placing our order was a burden and seemed very unenthused. The place looked very nice and had a pretty good atmosphere. The food took a little while to come. The vegan margherita pizza was delicious with yummy cashew cheese. The Pendragon burger had great potato wedges and a nice side salad, but the burger itself tasted weird, not great. Aspects of the burger were good, but the patty was not tasty. A lot of their dessert menu was not actually available, and they charge £1 for ketchup. At least they have a big tea selection.

After spending about an hour wandering around and finding the shops I wanted to visit were the opposite side of the village to the car park, i was ready for the coffee break! Nice setting and if you had children (we didn't) it was adjacent to a children's play area

We popped into this pub after The Frost Fayre. My word it has gone downhill since we were there last, a few years ago. The place was grubby, dirty and had an overwhelming sense that the management had given up on it. The Landlady was ensconced in her own snug with a few friends, not welcoming or at all cheerful. The bar staff seemed rather put out by us disturbing them when we asked to buy a drink. I hear the brewery are looking to close it down. That would be a blessing. Give it a refurb and a manager who wants to make it a success.

Called in recently about 2pm for a quick light lunch. Service was quick. The offer for soup, a hot roll and a drink was excellent. The Chicken broth was hot and very tasty. Being a Waitrose card customer, we were entitled to 20% off the cake of the day which was fresh and delicious.
