Went with a group of friends on Saturday for the first time. The food was amazing as was the service, atmosphere & value for money. Have to mention our waitress Lilly Worthington! Wow what an absolute delight she is, she made our visit even more special.

Ephesus restaurant, was wonderful, friendly atmosphere family run, great experience, great food. We had starter and main. No rush felt very comfortable.

The food is freshly prepared, tasty and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. We walked in, as staying close by. Would recommend this resturant. As a lover of Turkish food, this was top class.

This place is very very good !! The decor is beautiful. Food is absolutely delicious and good value. The staff are all friendly and helpful, and provide excellent service...all with a smile and plenty of chat😀 A special mention to to Lily who not only served us well ...but also entertained us with her quirky sense of humour. My partner and I chose Ephesus for our Valentine's meal as it's our favourite restaurant! We have been once before in it's current location for partner's birthday in December and our first meal together at Ephesus was in it's prior location. The food is outstanding, every time. The staff remember us, make us feel so welcome and are incredibly attentive (in the best way). It's also very aesthetically pleasing, beautiful light fittings!

Hadn't booked but were made very welcome. All the staff are very friendly and helpful Service was very quick Food was amazing, we had 3 courses and they were all delicious It was my partner's birthday and the waiting staff sang happy birthday to him, he was a little embarrassed but did enjoy it 🙂 Would recommend this restaurant whole heartedly Maybe unlikely that we return as we are in the area on holiday, but if we lived locally it would definitely be a favourite for us!

Always have the best experience here. Friendly, attentive staff who can’t do enough for you. The food is fresh and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend the hot meze and mixed soflaki. The Greek salad is 👌🏻 love the decor and there a great ambience

We had an excellent meal here tonight. The food was really genuine Greek and very tasty. We hadn’t booked but got in fine. The service was good and the food was very authentic. Highly recommended.

Went as a large group on New Year’s Eve. Absolutely fantastic, we were looked after superbly, excellent food and fantastic value. Thoroughly recommend for a great night out.

First visit to the new premises, very impressed. The new building is well spaced out and elegant in design. Food and service better than ever, the excellent bottle of Yakut was a added bonus. In fact it was so good we had two! Everything was laid back and easy going, table ours for the evening so no rush. I wish Ephesus every success in its new venture, its obviously been a huge and much needed investment in the town of Torquay

Visited Ephesus following reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren’t disappointed. The food was excellent, as well as being really good value. The one minor criticism was how quick it all came out - we were still eating our starter when the waitress asked if we were ready for our mains! Would definitely recommend - food very tasty.

Visited this restaurant on two occasions for a meal. Service was very good, friendly, helpful staff, good size portions, arrived hot, very tasty. Would recommend a visit.

Very good selection and we had the meze starters, hot and cold. We preferred the cold but tried both with bread. The salmon dish was very good and my lamb dish was very filling. Great friendly and helpful service. A good selection for everyone.

Really nice restaurant. Food fresh and served in really good time, a really good recommendation from the young girl whom served us. Pity they did not have a tv on for the semi final. The cold efes would of continued.

We had Traditional stifado and souvlaki with Mythos. Just like being in Greece!! Turkish starters . all excellent. friendly service and covid friendly restaurant.

Excellent Turkish and Greek cuisine, washed down with some fine beer. Han highly recommend the kleftiko...not exactly Greek-style, but very spicy and tasty nonetheless

Great restaurant to try. We were on holiday and decided to try Ephesus one evening. Had to book ahead as is usual at the moment. We were a party of four and were shown to a nice table screened off from the others. Friendly staff and good menu. We all enjoyed our food which included chicken dishes and cheesecake.

This is a Turkish / Greek restaurant which my wife & I enjoyed visiting on a recent trip to Torquay. It was busy throughout the evening but service was prompt and attentive nonetheless. Whilst it was clear that covid rules were being observed, it is one of the few places we have been since May which felt like pre-pandemic times with a great atmosphere. The food was very good and there are plenty of vegetarian options too.

We enjoyed our meals although they are quite basic with no frills. Chicken dishes were served with plain boiled rice and a salad garnish. Desserts were over priced. Good service in clean environment. Screens between tables.

The staff were all very friendly and attentive!! Food was excellent and portions were great. Would highly recommend a visit!

Normally try to eat here when we stay in Torquay. Lovely Turkish/ Greek food & we have never been disappointed over many visits since it’s opening. Friendly attentive staff & competitive pricing is also a draw to this restaurant. Excellent!

What a lovely night. Really lively atmosphere. Very good service and some amazing food. The lamb souvlaki was so tender and the veggie moussaka was so tasty. Would definitely return

I've been to a lot of restaurants where it's obvious that their main priority is making money, and that giving a great dining experience is somewhere else down the list. This is one of those.Drinks - £5.50 for a pint of lager, £2 for a pint of soda water - an extra 50p if you want a single slice of lime in that. Seriously, if you're gonna charge 2 quid for 10p worth of soda, at least put the effort into making it taste great with a decent amount of lime eh?Starter - 10 piece sharing meze for 2. £15. So £1.50 per piece. The 2 little fried cheese things were great, but the other 3 things were poor. If you're gonna make a meatball, dont give me something pound coin sized for 1.50, make it golf ball sized. The rolled up pastry thing was meant to have some filling in there somewhere I think ...The "salad" was a few bits of lettuce. There was some houmos that tasted of nothing.Main course, I had the £19 mixed meat souvlaki. This was 2x chicken wings, 2x 2inch squares of lamb, a reasonable sized lump of chicken and a 5inch long sheek kebab type thing. All if it tasted pretty good, but was really pretty dry. You get no kind of sauce whatsoever to help you out. You do get some "salad" which is some lettuce, 1 slice of cucmber and 1 slice of tomato.My wife had the mixed seafood dish which was a number of bits of seafood in a 5inch round bowl (2inch deep) all of it in the same sauce with some cheese on top.None of it was terrible.But this is meant to be greek/turkish right? How is it not possible to get a pita bread in a greek restaurantWhere was the olive oil?The lemon?Where was the tahini in the houmos?When you make a salad - would it kill you to put a couple of olives on ?Nothing in our £55 meal (1 beer, 1 soda, 1 shared starter, 2 mains) felt like we'd been to a greek restaurant because all the corners had been cut, and consequently everything that makes a great greek meal - wasn't there.I appreciate this is a seaside resort, you expect to pay a little more, margins might be a little tighter, but when it's at the expense of making a decent meal - then you've entirely missed the point.Go to the nearest kebab shop, you'll save a lot of money and get something a lot more tasty.

I thought that the food was good and service excellent. A good Turkish meal not a great one I would suggest, have had a better one but all in all decent.

Good tasty food, friendly staff lively atmosphere, I wish we had an Eshesus near us! The waiter advised us not to have the Meze starter for 2, one portion would be plenty to share, he was right. How refreshing to get such advice.

The food here is absolutely amazing and the restaurant itself has a relaxed atmosphere due to the friendly staff. A great independent restaurant to go to for a meal in Torquay - highly recommend a visit.

Tried this place on a whim - very efficient and friendly staff (great chat!), extensive menu and nice surroundings. We came at 9pm on a Monday and was still pretty busy (staff said the queue can be 'round the block' midweek). We had the cold meze, veg moussaka and veg souvlaki between two and it was A LOT of food. Would recommend, but arrive hungry!

Fantastic Greek and Turkish cuisine. We had a really good night at Ephesus last week, the Restaurant was busy but the staff were attentive, quick and friendly.The food was fantastic too, we’re a big fan of Greek, Turkish and Lebanese food and this was one of the best we’ve ever been to. If we’re ever back in Torquay we will definitely be visiting again.The Baklava was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, amazing.Cannot recommend it enough.

Lovely restaurant set back from the busier harbour area. Nicely laid out with adequate space and room between each table. We had the Chicken and Mixed Souflaki and both were really well cooked and tasty and the homemade bread was delicious. Good value for money too.

Delicious Greek food with a wide choice on the menu. Only small downside was a mistake with our desserts but other than that I would definitely recommend.

Food was lovely, had preordered. One of the dishes didn’t arrive and it took a while to get a member of staff to actually come to table. Sadly the service let them down. Left disappointed ☹️

The poor service spoilt the evening meal. The starters ok. The main meal good. We didn't stay for desert. The toilets had no toilet paper in and no soap ! This restaurant could not cope with the amount of covers they had. I don't know if they were short of staff as the restaurant was very busy. The main meals were the only highlight.

Lovely restaurant, we had the Mezze to start followed by the Ephesus Chicken and Adana Loftas Koftidas, beautiful tasty food and generous portions. Service was excellent and was made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend if you are visiting Torquay. This place is very popular and i would advise you book. Could not find anything to fault here at all.

Fantastic meal was lucky walked in and managed to get a table. Both had squid to start one had mixed kebab and other one of the Greek dishes. Had a Greek salad with main. Has an afters between us. Ordered a bottle of wine and beer reasonably price. Service great

Started with cold meze - didn’t come with very much bread, the hummus was bland and didn’t taste homemade, there was a tasty aubergine dish but the rest of the meze was very disappointing...My main dish was a stuffed aubergine that was also very bland - it was stuffed mainly with capsicums and large chunks of onion that were al dante as the dish hadn’t been cooked long enough in the oven. Conversely my wife’s seafood dish was very good so maybe only veggies should avoid this place??

Amazing food and service as usual. We couldn't wait to get back in after lockdown and was not disappointed. Best place for dinner in Torquay :)

We had already heard great things about this place, but we could not believe how great the food and the staff were. Such a friendly atmosphere from this family run restaurant, all the food is freshly made, even down to the yogurt! This is soul food that makes you feel great, will definitely be regulars here!

This restaurant is only a 10 minute walk from my place, been past it hundreds of times in the 3 years we’ve lived here, but never tried it until recently.It was during the ‘Dine Out To Help Out’ so things were a little different.Upon arrival we were quickly placed at our table, and drinks were ordered.My wife had the Meze platter for starters, and I had Mitit Kofte, both were delicious!For my main I had lamb Souflaki, and the wife had Kleftikos.It was all delicious, and so filling neither of us had pudding!Highly recommended!

Enjoyed a lovely meal here with family last weekend. Service was quick and very friendly. Food was hot and very delicious. Portions sizes were good and reasonably priced. Lovely ambiance, well worth a visit.

The Ambiente of the restaurant is nice and the waiters are quick to get your order in. The food was nothing special and the portions were too small. The main was a portion of a starter and was way too expensive for that little amount of food. I would not recommend coming here if you are hungry

We called in last night without making a booking, and were able to get a table as there was only two of us. We had never been there before so wasn’t sure what to order, our very pleasant waitress helped us choose our dishes which were all lovely, very well presented and enjoyable. I pre booked a table on Friday evening 23rd October for 2. The location and setting for the restaurant is very good. The service was excellent as we timely served throughout our time there by friendly staff. This was especially good as the restaurant was very busy. There was a wide variety of starters and mains to choose from with the presentation and quality of the food being excellent. There was also a good variety of drinks to complement the food servings too. This was also the case for desserts. We really enjoyed our evening dining here and we would definitely return and recommend too.

we were here a year ago (maybe two?!) and i have to say the food was just as good as last time. Friendly staff, fresh food served in decent sixed portions and the place had a great atmosphere even with all the covid measurements in place.between us we had the dolmades and meatball starters, both were very tasty and we had the moussaka and chicken souvlaki mains. meat was fresh and tasty and everything was good value.Cant wait until next year and we visit again!

Such a wonderful find. Managed to get a table the same day and was not disappointed. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling too hungry so didn’t have a starter despite there being so much choice. So opted for just some bread. I had the lamb souvlaki for the main which was so tender and delicious and perfect for not being overly filling. I had the chocolatini cocktail for dessert as the options didn’t really grab me and didn’t want anything filing again. This was so sweet! Definitely would recommend here. It was wonderful and tasted so good!

Booked this restaurant for our last night in Torquay and we were really looking forward to it as we love Greek food and we should have been on holiday in Crete. Our starters were fine the Tzatziki and Hummus and the Greek wine was also very nice. It was when the main courses arrive that we were disappointed, my husband ordered the stifado which he said was very bland and tasted more like a beef stew. I ordered the chicken souvlaki and although the chicken was tasty I am used to having onions and peppers served with it but it was simply chicken and rice.The decor of the restaurant is lovely but the gentleman who is front of house was not very friendly and didn't make any effort to ask how our meal was, he spent most of his time just wandering up and down thinking himself very important apart from when he was talking to one table who were obviously friends of his.

Great night here. Despite Covid restrictions (and the restaurant has great systems in place which feel very safe) you still get the impression of bustle and atmosphere. Service was friendly and good. The food was fantastic - the greek / turkish style was really authentic. Can wholeheartedly recommend the Turkish wine. The Feta and Spinach parcel starters were excellent, and the main courses even better. Really good menu with so much choice

My wife had the beef stifado which she really enjoyed. The kleftico was delicious, with the lamb falling off the bone. My only gripe, was too much gravy. I know. too much? It was really tasty, but I was convinced I was going to drip it all over my shirt;-) All in all, a lovely meal. Good service and tasty food.

As good as any Greek food we’ve had (even in Greece itself). The lamb shank just melted and the moussaka was really tasty. The staff were just lovely people and made our visit a pleasure. Definitely worth a visit, highly recommended.

Nothing to do with the food, however this restaurant does have the most amazing hanging pendant lamps! Fresh tasting and well presented dishes throughout. Friendly vibe and good service!

Had two visits during our stay, both nights the food was excellent. Very friendly staff. A must visit, especially for us having had our Cyprus holiday cancelled.

We visited on a Friday night, very busy even at 6 pm, tables were quite close together but there were some screens in between tables. Ordered stuffed aubergine and iskinder chicken, both were ok, not much flavour, service felt very rushed

2 of us ate hear and both of us were impressed with both the service and quality of the food. We had the cold meze starter for one and a Greek salad to start. The meze was enough for 2 and all elements of it were lovely. The tzatziki was the best we have had outside of Greece. For mains we had the steffados and kleftico. Both dishes were served with rice and were delicious. A bottle of the house red accompanied the dishes splendidly. A coffee and liquor finished the night off. We went on the first night of the 10 o clock curfew service was efficient but was still relaxed. At around £72 for 2 it was money well spent.

The staff are lovely, the decor lovely...had heard fab things about the place so was very excited to be going there for my birthday. Had calamari starter which was nice and baklava for dessert which was lovely... i was happy with them. The main course was disappointing however...i chose moussaka which i usually love...sadly it was very bland with very little flavour in fact the rice with a hint of nutmeg had more flavour. There was very little minced lamb or eggplant and at one end was a rather large thick piece of potato which was still partly raw in the centre due to its thickness and as it was at the end i ate last i didnt bother sending it back as the moussaka was mostly eaten by then...i am sure this cant be a usual thing as others have commented on how good the moussaka is...sadly it was a deal breaker for me and i wont be going back.....my partner enjoyed his meal however and price wise my partner thought it was very reasonable....it just spoilt my birthday meal that moussaka

This is a lovely restaurant with great authentic food- so tasty. The humous and Baklava in particular were wonderful! Staff, ambience & decor were all great too, can’t wait to go back!

Went on our first night in Torquay and booked again for our last night! Fabulous Greek/Turkish food, better than I've had in Greece or Turkey! All made in house. First night we had a cold meze, hot meze, Greek salad and warm bread. Then Salmon in Tomato sauce and Mixed Sovlaki so tender! Homemade Baklava to die for! Love and care goes into the food and you can taste that too! Lovely staff, Covid rules followed, book in advance. Waitress wouldn't tell me any info on the Dolmades recipe, top secret, need to know only basis, gutted, lols

Came in with wife and daughter didnt book was told had to vacate by 8pm no problem with that until my main turned up chicken was dry and so salty the kofte was beef asked for more bread with my starter which was £13:50 find it shocking £2,95 for extra bread more frustrating was that i had to quench my thirst with flat effes dont get me started on the manager he marches up and down with his hands behind his back without wearing a mask hes thinks hes mustard which my dinner might of needed regards carl m from knutsford

Last family meal before leaving Torquay. Great service. Excellent food. Don’t usually leave reviews but totally impressed and would recommend. Felt very covid safe.

We only booked the night before and got a table no problem despite it being busy on the night! We were greeted and served all night by Gunduz Zamarano who made our experience with his great service and sense of humour. We had a laugh all night and great food! Highly recommend the patlican esmee dip with bread on the cold starter menu.A lot of choice for veggies as well as meat eaters!

The last time I went with a group and it was very good. I visited now with relatives and will upgrade my opinion to sensational!The Hummus remains the best ever and I would recommend the Greek Beef Stifado. The Lamb Moussaka also got top marks.Prices are relatively reasonable, portions good and the wine list extensive and not overpriced.Friendly service and a highly recommended restaurant.

We visited this restaurant on a Monday when most of the independent restaurants are not open. It was busy and clearly does good business. I think it may be better for meat eaters - I felt the 2 vegetarian dishes we had were fairly over-reliant on cheese and that was the main strong flavour. Perfectly acceptable food but for me it didn't stand out. It was about £14 for a small dish of vegetarian moussaka. The place seemed clean enough and the staff were fine. We try and support independent businesses and so it was ok for a Monday night when most others were closed

We booked in here at 9.15pm on a Saturday night whilst staying in Torquay we booked late as we prefer to eat later without the rush with a time limit on the table. The place was buzzing the staff very efficient and Friendly they came and took a drinks order and said there would be a delay in taking the food order which was fine by us. Bottle of wine arrived within a few minutes and order taken. We opted for the hot mixed mezze for two when ordering we also asked for a pause between starter being cleared and mains served. As there’s nothing worse than having starters cleared and mains served straight away in my mind.The starter was lovely and the waitress when clearing our plates confirmed that we still wanted a pause and then came back over to see how we were doing. Main courses were 2 x mixed slouvaki with rice and salad came hot and fresh. Very pleasant evening in all

Very, very rushed service; obvious that the food was already plated up and queued to come out. My wife’s chicken was well over cooked and dry, my meat ball in bread had obviously been standing a while. We complained about the chicken and they did send out a really fresh dish that had obviously been cooked to order. Shame that it is not all cooked to order. People will be pleased to wait a short time if the food is freshly cooked. It was all very, very rushed.

Returned here as the food has always been good and to be fair from that perspective there was no issue, however the dining experience wasn’t good at all, the place was busy but there seemed a concerted effort to turn over the tables as quickly as possible, that led to rather conveyor belt type service with a few mistakes and a lack of customer focus. It’s a pity really as the food is good but the policy of pack them in and pack them out is unlikely to pay long term particularly as it’s not cheap and service can be bettered elsewhere.

My husband and I stayed in Torquay for the bank holiday weekend in August 2020 and were dining out for my birthday.We found the staff to be very welcoming and the service to be excellent. The restaurant was very clean and adhered to all government regulations for Covid-19.My husband had a special chicken dish which he thoroughly enjoyed and I had a vegetarian moussaka which was amazing. We would certainly recommend this place to anyone and would also return on our next visit to Torquay.

Had a meal for me my husband and my mother in law meal was nice, but when we got the bill we thought it was expensive, it’s a good job my husband checked the bill they had charged us for bottles of wine we had not had be careful

2nd visit to this restaurant as a birthday treat. Great service, wide meal and delicious food. One of my favourite places in Torbay. Also love the decoration in this restaurant. Good social distancing.

Having read several reviews and planned a 3 day stay in Torquay was looking forward to visiting Ephesus. Sadly,extremely disappointed. Arrived 7.20 for a 7.30 booking. Promptly taken to our table. Waiter immediately provided menus. 5 mins later ordered drinks. So far so good.waiter returned with drinks and took food orders.Specifically explained to the waiter my wife didnt want a starter. So i ordered the platter for one and actually pointed to the menu and price. It was listed at £8.50 for a single portion and £14.50 for 2 persons. The starter came and was enormous. At this point i probably should have enquired if they had made a mistake. We both tucked into the many samples of all the hot starters. Majority of which were delicious. I told my wife take your time and make sure you leave enough room for your main course. We had barely caught our breath when a waitress asked if we had finished, she cleared the table and within 20 seconds our main courses were plonked in front of us. That was quick i remarked, "They have been ready for ages" came the reply. My wife had opted for the beef stifado which was heavily overspiced with pieces of grainy beef. Poor!! I swapped my lamb souflaki, which was faultless with succulent pieces of beautifully marinated lamb fillet. Unfortunately this was the only real highlight of the entire evening. My wife was struggling with her lager so i ordered a second large glass of house red, which was quite pleasant. No sooner had I received this, then the original waiter appeared enquiring had we paid the bill which I received with the wine. I promptly paid the bill, which for the first time ever did not include a tip!! Obviously keen to free up the table. We took our time over our drinks Platter for 2(which should have been 1) £14.50Beef stifado. £13.95Lamb souflaki. £16.25Pint Carlsberg. £4.502 lge glass house red. £13.00 Total. £62.50Overall food quality. 3*Value for money. 2*Service. 1*Very disappointed. We tried this popular Greek restaurant on the last night of our holiday. It is very popular so I recommend booking in advance.The food is excellent. We were spoilt for choice on the extensive menu. We had the beef stifado and the chicken and lamb souvlaki and greek bread. All of it was delicious. As ws the draft Efes beer.Staff were pleasant and the service was quick.The price was a bit expensive for the portion size (hence the 4 out of 5, and not 5 out of 5) but not for the taste!

We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation while visiting Torquay on holiday. I'm so glad we got in. The food was excellent! Best hummus I've had. Friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend.

We had a lot of fish in Devon and wanted a change and I am very glad we came here. The staff were wonderful and accommodating and the food. WAS. GREAT.I am originally from Egypt and thus am very picky when it comes to middle-eastern / mediterranean food. This food was truly delicious and was fresh also. We ordered their grills (Chicken and Lamb) and some salad also.Overall it was truly delicious food and would highly suggest for people to go, but to book in advance.
