Enzo's Fish & Chips in North Ayrshire

I walked into the chip shop to be confronted with one of the assistants who took my order wearing a mask but it didn’t cover her nose. The delivery guy waiting inside for his delivery orders wasn’t wearing a mask at all!! The fryer’s mask wasn’t worn over his nose either but to cap it all off we watched him picking the cooked food up with his fingers. We had to tell him not to touch our food at all, and he replied “do you want me to put it back in the fryer”. No apology and no acknowledgement of what he did wrong especially in these COVID times. I wouldn’t like to get a delivery from them coz you don’t know how many people have been touching my food with there fingers. In summary, it’s not a very hygienic environment in this chip shop so we will go elsewhere in future

Great selction at a reasonable price. Friendly staff. Covid secure. Beautiful weather. I thoroughly would reccomend to any of my friends

Have been here a few times on a Sat. Good fish and chips for the money. Decent portion and quick service.

We have only ever picked up from the shop, rather than having the food delivered. Have found the order turnaround very quick: ten minutes tops. The fish tastes fresh and the chips are cooked consistently so we feel we can rely on Enzo's for a good value fish supper.

Ordered online, arrived at the collection time and there was loads of peo8ple waiting outside. There is no system in place so everyone seems to be left waiting for their order. Nobody communicates with you. When you go to the side gate to collect your food at your time slot, nobody is there. Is anyone even managing this farce of a "process "? It's not covid friendly having a group of people hanging around outside. There is no system. Restaurants that have had to close had real proper systems in place which but didn't put their customers at risk. Twenty minutes after our collection slot we got our food. Food was luke warm at best. We won't be back.

Enzos used to be good but the quality is not there now. The fish and chips are very poor,too much batter and a thin piece of fish with too much chips. To many other places serving better quality food.

I've used and enjoyed Enzos since the day they opened but our last order was disappointing it was almost cold on delivery but worse the chips in all 3 meals where just a mash and the batter on the food was doughy and rubbery Also if you go to the restaurant you have to stand outside in the rain and cold and wait for your meal and if you order by phone you have to pay by card at the time of order....only place I know that does this, bring back cash on delivery. Most of our meals went in the bin, but will give them an another chance in case it was one of those things.Tried to phone and tell them but phone just wrang until I got a message saying cant take your call

I'd heard good things about this place, so thought we'd try it out rather than our usual place. Placed the order on their website and went at the ready time to collect. Very poor management of queuing under the current circumstance. No signs to say what their system is. When I eventually got to the counter I said I was there to collect an online order and I was told it would be another 10 minutes, this was already 10 minutes after my collection time. So, 20 minutes after my collection time I left for home. 3 minutes later we opened the pizzas...stone cold! I reheated in the oven and they tasted OK, but to get takeaway pizza and it need to be completely reheated is unacceptable!

I really enjoy my carry outs from here, never been disappointed yet. So thanks guys for the expected great service

Been to Enzo’s twice this week for a cod supper. Best I’ve ever tasted. Freshly cooked when ordered. Well worth waiting 10 min for, can’t wait for next one

Ordered 2 fish suppers and 2 steak pie suppers for take away, 1 small single piece of fish in each fish supper and virtually all batter and no fish, steak pies with very little meat but lots and lots of gristle.£22.00 for 2 small fish suppers and two inedible steak pie suppers, the chips were edible.I will never be back here, there are other chippy's in Irvine, go anywhere but Enzo's.

So last night we tried enzo's (had changed to mamas as enzos has been poor but partner wanted pizza) so ordered myself the scampi... Well for 1 it was nothing like scampi... It was like fish paste or something rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried. Wasn't hot but yet chips were! Was horrid. Could only eat the chips... Same with kids fish i ordered a lifetime ago. Wasnt real fish. A fish n chip shop that dont do proper fish.... Hardly a fish n chip shop then.....

Ordered chips n curry and fritters, got delivered chips, with a note no curry or fritters, but gave u free ice cream which they forgot. Called arrogant fryer very cheeky, how can u not have fritters ffs its potato, and curry its powder. Avoid they should have cancelled the order.

On arrival wasn’t sure what to buy 1st the place looks very clean and Guy taking order was very polite. Ordered Haggis supper2 x pickled egg Chicken supperCost about £13 Pet hate having to buy carrier bag include this in costs and give carrier bag to customers if required.Was told the Haggis was fine this was freshly friedWas looking forward to the chicken supper as decided on this meal as the chicken already cooked did look nice but I also thought this was for customers in front of me, Unfortunately No I got the one already cooked and disappointed to find it very dry could only eat ½ and the chips also felt greasy and hard no taste My last previous visit was August 2019 may last visit February 2020 and I mean last will not be back Chip shop dinners NO more

Food delivery cold but the middle of the lasagne was frozen. No probs quick ping in microwave sorted. Phoned to let them know not looking for anything back. Girl that answered the phone so rude giggling when told them food was cold and they replied apparently. Would not eat here again due to uncaring attitude towards food safety what else do they lack on?????

Having worked in Chip shops for most of my young adult life, I have a fair amount of experience and understand how they run. I absolutely hate coming in here and having to witness the management style. If I was to enter and place an order of a fritter role, they will take my order and place me in a queues. If there are 10 people in front of me , ordering things that you need to wait for i.e. half pizzas , half chickens etc all taking 10 mins each, I will still be plonked at the back of this queues even though mines is ready. Then, due to the boxes they use, you see the staff struggle to actually hold them. Also they have to use metal plyers to grab food as opposed to having gloves and grabbing the food manually - each of these things contributing to the time taken to get your meal. I have actually also attended a trial shift here when I was a bit younger, under the current management, and can confirm the way he treats the staff behind closed doors and in front of the public is disgusting. Most of the people that work there are fresh out of if not currently still in school, and I wouldn't be happy with someone speaking to my child or relative of that age the way he does. Also, when I did work there I was 25, meaning he had to pay me minimum wage for my age group for my trial shift, which he stated quite clearly he was not happy about (even though he knew this at the time of trialing me?) Definite discrimination going on. I would certainly attend either Marcos or Mammas over this (though Marcos is under the same management and follows many of the same procedures). Plus the food is nothing to rave about either - nothing particularly terrible, just not as nice batter as other places close by. Also it is closed every week day until 4pm and there is no sitting area.

Stopped off at Enzo’s for a bag of chips and a few frittersThe service was fast however felt the salt and vinegar was slightly over the top.The place looks very clean and is always busy with delivery orders and walk-in orders.I’m not a big chip shop lover and only visit a few times per year but feel this chip shop is one of the best in Ayrshire. Order online can be a hit and miss depending on number of deliveries at one time, would recommend visiting shop at least then you can see if your food looks fresh

Treats staff with complete disrespect. Heard young members of staff being shouted and swore at. I was disgusted and won’t be returning.

Use to use this place all the time. A year ago i would have said it was the best chippy in irvine but over the last year it has steadily went down hill food is hit or miss depending on who is frying.

used to use this chippy regular on a Sunday but was disappointed recently the fish was soggy with grease and chips were also wont be back

Phoned for just a simple portion of chips to be delivered.... as we had dinner prepared. When they arrived I binned them straight away. Was not one chip that looked fresh. Everyone of them had black bits on them... others were really over fried. Thought I’d give it another try tonight ( minus the chips) 9.30 I rung for a pizza crunch only to be advised they had no batter left.Worst chip shop in the town. Phoned sister company and was delivered one within 20 mins! Ryan you are the worse fryer ever! Plus your customer service skills are very low. When I complained about my chips his reply was “Ok no bother”

Have had better..fish is thin and tasteless. Always busy though so serving a purpose for someone! Wouldn’t revisit.

I ordered a meal for two at approximately 6.30p.m. one evening this week. Our meal was eventually delivered at 8.15p.m. after two telephone calls to the shop to enquire as to the whereabouts of our order. One hour and 45 minutes for a "fast food" experience is unacceptable. Furthermore the chips which accompanied the haddock were a soft and under-cooked mess. The owner should consider dropping this inept delivery service as it is damaging the reputation of his business.

I have had take away food from Enzos a few times and brought it home, still piping hot and tasty.

This place can’t be beaten for freshly cooked suppers. You can even order online! It’s very clean with well organised staff.

OMG this is the best chippie ever . Clean and friendly and u can also get VANILLA JOES ice cream there which is to die for a bit pricey but WELL worth it ( they own vanilla joes which can be found the down from irvine train station )

Best around by far. Sometimes have a chicken supper. It’s half a chicken !! Excelent food and they now deliver to your door.

Enzo's offers consistent good food. Large serving sizes and a convenient location (except for the parking). The fish suppers are two large pieces but they do offer a smaller portion and they have a rewards coupon system for regulars.

Went hear other day kids wanted a Burger King so got them that first them me and husband wanted a supper from here wish hadn’t bothered went in ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips and tub curry stood in a que then noticed people comin and goin and we still waitin I jus thought it was cause they were busy gettin delivery orders out but still twenty mins later waitin so said to young man he couldn’t find my order so he asked what I ordered and he get it he said it must have got binned so another ten mins later got order asked if want salt n vinegar said yes and tomato on one at side young really inexperienced boy put honestly a squirt had to laugh and ask for bit more then was asked if need a bag be 5 p by this time had lost patience as I said to the “ young “ boy I had paid for bag jus give me as it is and left and to say it wasn’t nice after all that u hardly got anything for the money so no not an award chip shop sorry

Rubbish food 4 mins to cook a burger an have a cheack to smerk avout it beong cold. An. Still alive avoid like the plage never going back could d have easy have been one of the kids that ate it not amused been going here for years never going back defo wouldn't recommend to anyone over charged for everything expect great food

I visited in passing to pick up Saturday night dinner for the family. Id heard great reviews if this place, they couldn't be further from reality. Services was slow, food was terrible. Probably the worst fish and chip shop I've visited in a long time.

I recommend popping in for your food as the shop is great with good service and lovely hot food but do not do a delivery. 3 times now I have used the delivery service and on every occasion it took over an hour and a half when I selected the ASAP option. Numerous phone calls to the shop got me nowhere. Make sure you go and collect

We were visiting the area and called into Enzo's for Fish and Cips and a Black Pudding Supper and they were both truly awful. The Fish Batter was awful too thick and really a poor poor recipe . The awful batter surrounded small fish pieces. The Bkack Pudding was so dry we binned it. To top it all the prices were exrtortionate. Were only passing through but we know what a good chippy should be like. Sadly this Chippy is awful.

My last 2 delivery's from here have been disgusting and put straight in the bin, the chips, aren't half cooked, very hard and taste horrible and portions sizes are so small, I only had 12 chips in my supper, (I counted them). I even asked on my 2nd delivery if I could have crispy chips but they didn't listen, they were just the same as previous order. It's went downhill and not worth the money!

Fish supper fish was small poor amount of chips fish was very greasy batter on fish was not nice hamburger supper was greasy and two small burgers not be back again phoned it in and was not even ready when collecting over rated I think

Chips was very soggy! The grease dripping from the fritters! It used to be good not be getting my money again

We went to the chippy about 2000 hours after a shop due to the good reviews and statements of 'one of the best in the UK' tag it has. The shop looks great, clear video media for adverts of what is for sale, well presented and pleasant staff, however I waited about 10-15 mins the fish and chips to cook thinking how nice and fresh they would be but I think the fish had been sitting on the hot shelf, one piece on top of another, for a while - it was there when I walked in. The chips were good and a decent size portion, the fish on the other hand was quite thin, not very crisp batter and very greasy especially the one that had been under the other, the stained box gave testament to that. I have been to much better chippies so maybe I was there on a bad day. Very average.

Great fish & chips ( freshly made ) quick service , easy parking .sausage supper also great. & packaging is 👍

My wife and I get a meal from Enzo's about once a fortnight.They do a delivery service but I prefer to collect it myself as I feel it will be warmer and fresher even although it is in the opposite side of town from where I stay.We share a black pudding supper and single fish which is usually freshly made,crispy and piping hot. The batter is always crispy and the fish nice and flaky. the black pudding is hot and spicy.We used to use chippies in the town closer than Enzo's but feel they are not up to the same standard now.My only criticism is they do not have an organised system for queuing for orders when it is busy leading to some confusion for customers however I would highly recommended it to anyone visiting Irvine.

Went here today for fish supper was not nice at all..a ha e threw out better.chips where horrible and fish was tiny and very well done..

Use Enzos every few weeks, it never fails on quality.If you get delivered then like everywhere thr batter instead of crunchy goes soggy

Food great, service terrible. On occasion you can be standing waiting to be served for 15 minutes, to then be served and be told that they don't have what you want. It makes me want to use another chip shop.

From the reviews I was expecting the best fish and chips I had ever had but they are good but not great. The fish is very thin but the batter tasty and the chips okay. Mushy peas should be mushy.

We stopped here on way home from beach kids got small fish and chips and I had sausage supper. The kids said and I quote the best fish and chips they have ever eaten. They very rarely finish a meal always one part of it that isn't the way they like it so that is high praise indeed. Wasn't too greasy and portions just right size. Service was quick and reasonable price. We will be back.

It was really hot on Mothers Day and we headed out at 6pm to get something for our dinner and fancied some old-fashioned seafood from a local chippie. This was exactly what we wanted, didn't cost enormous amounts of money and we didn't have to wait very long as they had plenty of staff working :) win win.

great chippy, I had the fish in breadcrumbs which was cooked to perfection, cant fault the place staff are fast and deal with the crowds with ease.

Paid by card as I didn't have cash on me, just to be charged delivery at the door. I felt terrible as I literally had no hard cash on me. The delivery driver was easily annoyed. Shouldn't let people pay by card if you don't include the cost of delivery in it!! Ridiculous!

best chippy in Scotland we don't often go to the chippy but this is the best in Irvine for quality a wee bit dearer than the rest but well worth it five stars from me

Food amazing from here, staff are very quick at serving your order, always smiling, and prices are very good, for the amount you get, centrally located.

Fish is fresh and fantastic.Clean, efficient and a good range of fresh fish suppers as well as the normal hippie stuff.Not quite as good as the ones in pittenween and anstrudther but still very impressive. They also deliver.

If you like a choppy it's the place to go its at the top off my street so handy pizza in batter amazing oh you got ya try the fish

We visit Enzo's quite often and usually get the Enzo's box which has a selection of chip's and a choice of fish,black pudding,hamburger and sausage.The price is very good but I don't remember off hand what this price is for the box.Everything is freshly cooked to order,and the waiting time is minimal.Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Normally phone in my order for collection as this saves time. Food is always freshly prepared and not swimming in grease. Highly recommend the fish and chips

My son & daughter in law brought us our dinner home one night from here. We all really liked our meals

Initially this was a great chippy, however now that they have established a customer base I feel their quality has taken a hit. Fish is like a sheet of paper in the batter so I'd rather go to Alberto's in ardrossan for a Moby dick supper instead. I'm quite disappointed as I live very close to enzos.

Been going to Enzo and getting delivery since it opened, normally very good but this was truly awful. We had 3 meals the half pizza was fine but ruined by the chips and the two fish suppers where a disasterChips and fish where obviously reheated, chips where actually hard and fish was greasy and looked awful, tried to eat but gave up and through out.They really need to look to their quality process as the meals obviously looked wrong and should not have been served, please get the staff to consider what they are doing,Hopefully this is a one off, and will not be repeated but based on this experience it will be a long time before I call a meal from them again

They do delivery as well. There is always a queue which is a good sign of good food. well woth the wait for fresh cooked food we have tried in on more than one ocassion

Standard fish and chippy but with rude service and language from idiot. Assumed it was owner with huge chip (s) on his shoulder. I instructed them what was supposed to go on suppers. Was ignored and i refused to take what was given. Told a little salt on both with no vinegar. Instead they bathed the suppers in vinegar. SO then stuff got chucked back in fryer and scooped back into paper. This time covered in oil. Anyway dis heartened by service. Food was poor quality and in had paid extra for fish was not very good at all and chips weren't great either.

We use Enzo a lot, normally delivery and find the service and quality very good, great selection.It can be slow service if you go into the shop and they are busy.

We go in to Enzo's regularly after shopping its usually always busy sometimes with cues out the door if you are driving its a little awkward for parking as its on the main drag and not far from a busy round-a-bout but apart from that all the food is good and fresh if you are prepared to wait its a good meal but it is a little dearer than most chip shops and they charge you 50 pence extra if you want to pay by card.

One of our local chip shops and all I will say is, if you ever visit Irvine, you must try this shop if you like fish suppers. The best fish suppers ever, all fresh daily and cooked on order. Excellent value as it is large portions, reasonably priced.

Absolutely best fish and chips , not only in Irvine , but in the whole of North Ayrshire. We regularly travel a reasonable distance to purchase here.

I drive 3 miles to eat from here. Well worth it. Always fresh, hot and fairly fast with the cooking. Food is competitively priced.

Chippie is fresh and clean, staff are efficient and friendly, food is good.We had a fish supper and haggis supper. Fish supper comes with two fish, haggis supper comes with two decent sized haggis portions (very good for doing a 50/50 "share"!).Fish is good but I've certainly had better. The haggis was excellent. Chips were good, nothing special.All in all it's a good chippie.

The best Haddock and chips ive had...EVER. The que at the door spoke volumes but the efficient young staff served the hungry punters quickly. The curry sauce is fab and ended up drinking the last of the carton.

When it first opened it was the best about the town but now not to sure its a bit of a gamble on how good your food will be would rather not take the risk tbh....

Used to visit here regular as the fish and chips were amazing and great portions. went back recently and portions had shrank. Quality wasnt as high either. Staff still nice and friendly. there is a 50p charge appeared for using a debit card on every order ?? Our order was nearly £40 and I thinks its a bit of a rip off as we all Know that its only a very small % debit card companies charge per transaction and that is usually absorbed into the goods price, Not happy with this so will look elsewhere till hopefully they improve and get rid of the additional charge.

food has always been both delicious and piping hot when delivered but tonight i had to contact them as my daughter made a slight mistake with the order. when i called in to correct it i found i has wasted my time as, not only was the order ready but the staff had realised the mistake and already corrected it!!!well done :D

My wife and I thought we would try Enzo's as we don't normally have Chippys but heard the reviews and wanted to try it for ourselves.So glad we did! We ordered it online with no fuss.The selection of food and options were fantastic!They called us within 5 minutes to check that our order was correct and to tell us that it would be ready in 10 minutes as we decided not to use the delivery service. Went down and the que was out the door so I thought I would be there for a while. But it worked like clock work! The que was getting service as well as the delivery guys and they called my name within 5 minutes of being down there.Great service considering how busy they were!!And the food itself!! Needless to say we will be back! Recommend - scampi, haggis, fish and onion rings! And their homemade garlic mayo mmmmmm

Just received a delivery, to find everything toppled over, and a tub of curry sauce having ruined both meals. The food was cold and tasted stale. The mess extremely off putting. Waste of money and went straight in the bin. Won't be ordering from here again.

Every time we come back to Irvine, I love to have a Special Fish Supper at Enzo's. the food is good quality, tasty and the prices are reasonable. Living in Liverpool,I have never found a goog chippie so an Enzo's fish with their homemade tartar sauce always hits the spot!

The best fish and chips in Irvine if not in Ayrshire. very reasonably priced and excellent quality fish and chips as well as well as a great selection of other foods. Fish and chips they way it should be, keep it up.

Visited Enzos this evening and enjoyed delicious fish and chips with mushy peas and onion rings. Crispy batter on the fish,well cooked chips. Hot and tasty. Well worth a visit. We'll be back!

I've only ever been to Enzos once, but that was enough - everything was really greasy. I've heard the same verdict from friends and family too. Disappointing.

First visit to this spotless 'chippy'. Freshly made as you wait and served by a polite young man. Best fish supper in ages! Extensive mouthwatering menu, look forward to visiting next time we are in the area.

I went to Enzo's with a work colleague and got a haggis supper. The haggis was lovely, well cooked and the chips tasted fantastic. Much better than Black Mama's

I use this chippy at least once a week always happy with food and service on this occasion I had no cash on me and on producing my debit card they added 50p to my bill I asked why and was told it's our boss who told us there are no signs stating this charge I know in the grander scale of things this is not a lot but surely you should be aware of this I will now be going elsewhere in future as they are not the cheapest in town albeit one of the better ones ...

We ordered our suppers online, although you can't pay online, it was an excellent website for choice and ease! Within 5 minutes they phoned me to see when I wanted to pick up our order, to which I asked when will it be ready? The answer...5 minutes....that's fast service! The food was lovely and served in boxes (akin to pizza boxes) which we all thought was a great idea. I would definitely highly recommend this fish & chip shop (they also deliver as well) and when I am next staying in Irvine I will definitely be getting another haggis supper

Twice now I've had the same delivery driver charge me higher than the quoted £2. First time I phoned and when no reply emailed the establishment with no response. Tonight after another rip off I managed to speak to someone who said 'just tell us next time you're in and we'll deduct the overcharge from your bill'. Not the way to do business I'm afraid.
