A great little pub with craft beer on keg and cask. Friendly and helpful staff. You can bring your own food in or even have it delivered there. They don't serve their own food other than bar snacks usually. There's a weekly quiz on a Wednesday, pre booking essential and a cheese board is provided. Dogs welcome. A wonderful local to have in the area.

Nice relaxed bar. Great selection of beers and bar snacks, wine and spirits also available. Quiet in the afternoon and does get busy in the evenings. Great for a small group - especially if the weather is nice and you can sit outside on benches. Gender neutral toilets x 2. Free sanitary products available and the bar and toilets are always very clean. Inclusive, LGBTQ + friendly.

If you’re in North Shields the Enigma Tap is a ‘must visit’ destination. Offering a wide range of craft beers and real ales in cask, keg, bottle and can. Plus cider, wines and much more.

Didn't go in for food, so I'm not sure I'd they do food, don't think so. Nice place to relax and have a chat, unlike some pubs that don't know what background music is, it's not loud so you have to shout to hear what's being said,or going home with a headache, and it's not with the drinking.

Visited this bar on a Friday after work after googling somewhere good to go for a drink in North Shields, as I love a good pint but not familiar with the area! Loved the cosy atmosphere and had a good selection of beers. I only had time for one before heading for the metro so went for an Almasty Pilsner. Enjoyed my pint as a good way to relax after a busy week. Will defo be back soon. Would also like to see the pub cat as he wasn’t there when I visited!!

Enigma is our local, great drinks, friendly staff and clientele too. Made some lovely friends and jolly outdoor spaces for when the weather plays ball. Keep your eyes peeled for free cheese too 😀

Found this little micro pub by chance. Normally not a great fan of any solely real ale places but this one is the exception. Good friendly staff, nice surroundings and a bit of music in the background.

It's a nice place, it's just missing something.....beers nice and fresh, pricing just right.

Don't go there, you'll hate it. Leave it for me. A converted high-street shop shouldn't have atmosphere but somehow this does. Couple that with a fantastic selection of real ales and you have the perfect watering hole.

The Enigma is my regular. Great beers always on tap. Friendly staff and cosy modern interior. If you are lucky, you may get to meet Jett. He is the pub cat. 🐈

I adore this place. The set up, the way they treat their staff, the atmosphere, just everything makes this the best bar in North Shields.

Weve been in a few times before the lockdown and always enjoyed their beers and the friendly atmosphere of this small pub and brewery.It has always been quite busy on our weekend visits but weve always managed to find a table amongst the friendly crowd who gather there. Well worth a visit if you enjoy your local beers.

A nice clean, friendly and reasonable Micropub in the heart of North Shields town centre. The Ouseburn Porter and Alnwick whiskey are amazing in taste and exceptional value for money.

Good micro pub bringing a different offering into the Town Centre. Decent selection of craft beers, good atmosphere and music can be requested on the record player. Staff are friendly but service would be better if staff were checking if people sat would like another round. Definitely worth a visit and we will return.

Bit expensive even if wr can play dominoes. It has a good atmosphere even though it's a the small side when it gets full.

Nice little place in the Town centre. We had half an hour to kill waiting for the bus so popped in for a drink. I'm pleased we did. A real change from most of the other boozers nearby. Not a grey tracksuit or pair of Nike Air Max to be seen.

Really liked the atmosphere, the staff are friendly and helpful, family owned business, wonderful freshly baked or freshly made food, there is a bar too. Tea coffe and other beverages available. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five was the toilet is only accessible by going up one step. Level access entrance. Well worth visiting more than once. Use produce from local businesses too, supporting the community, so how about supporting this business!

Been visiting Enigma Tap since it opened and never disappointed with the range and quality of both cask and keg beers. Enigma also serve a few wines and spirits which is perfect if you're not with a beer lover. You can buy cans to takeaway and get growler refills. Staff are all friendly and very knowledgeable. If you're in the area and fancy a drink I would strongly recommend a visit.

This is a great little pub in the centre of North Shields. They provide a wide range of real ales on tap, and also a variety of spirits. I had one of the best sipping vodka’s I think I have ever tried – St Marys Vodka, a local brew. The staff were friendly and obliging. There is a rear area for outdoor drinking or smoking if that is your thing. The toilets are a little pokey, but were clean and well maintained. There are some comfy seats available as well as bench seats and standard bar seats.

I really like the enigma tap, always great beers on the bar and service comes with a smile. If you ask for recommendations, they'll happily provide them, and give you a sample if you're not sure.

Been 3 times in four weeks to this new micropub, not a restaurant!. No food apart from crisps and pork pies. Has four hand pumps and 5 craft pumps from small breweries. Beers very well kept and different from those sold nearby. 3 steps from door level to bar so not disabled friendly. Industrial style furniture (scaffolding tables etc) as per the style of most new micropubs. Also sells wines and gins.

Been here a couple of times and it's pretty decent. Great beers and friendly staff. It maybe quiet at times, but I think that is part of the charm, as sometimes you just want to enjoy a quiet pint without it being too rowdy.

From outside it looks like a breakfast café but it is a small and friendly bar serving good quality locally brewed beers.

As regular visitors we enjoy the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, wide range of cask ales, keg beers and spirits from local breweries. Its nice to drop in and sit and have a chat over a game of dominoes. It's dog friendly too, with treats provided! Well worth a visit.

An excellent bar with brilliant staff. With no television and no music, conversation is the only sound. A place for people to enjoy the company of other people without the distractions of life is something desperately needed in North Shields.

Just what North Shields needs a quintessentially British Family run Micro pub, close to restaurant's, taxi ranks and smack bang in a perfect place to continue on to a great night out. It's a Fifty seater seriously hipster pub. The quality and variety of the local drinks on tap and on the shelves is astonishing. The passion and knowledge the family have about the local products is nothing less than brilliant and I learned as I drank. The guy's and girls have opened a dream and the passion passes on to the customers. Being a local North Tyneside lad I wasn't sure if this would be a place I'd be comfortable with my trainers on and I was wrong it's for everyone it's a grown up place with British at the for front. Drinks are reasonably priced £4.00 a pint for there best lager and down from that and it makes it stand out as a contender for a cheap quality night out. They have Koke from jesmond and Vodka from Whitley there's Durham beers and up the road Tonics, there passionate and there knowledge goes in every single drop. I'd recommend this as a must see. Its new and yes it needs a couple things but its like a good Guinness it takes time to perfect. Nuts would bless some of those drinks and help keep the pallet wanting more. Wi-Fi might've helped and I know backround music needs a clear answer from the council but as a local British Family run Micro pub that's helping raise North Tyneside profile they must say yes in my eye's. More cushions my bum is bony. There's good coffee for a night cap after a meal. It closes at 22.00 three days a week and 23.00 on rhe other four which makes it a great time to get a taxi, usually 15 minutes during the week and more on a weekend ask staff for a good company theres a few near by. Great little place and a good addition to the North Shields. Have particularly enjoyed drinks such as Plymouth Plum Mild and Placebo Syndrome, I'm looking forward to sampling similar ones again soon. The place has friendly staff and is pleasantly unpretentious. Thumbs up!

Great addition to North Shields. Trendy and cozy little bar with a good range of Ales. It was quite busy when we called in on Saturday evening and they'd run out of my chosen beer, but my 2nd choice, from the Cullercoats Brewery l, was spot on. The 3 staff members did seem a bit stressed and I was charged £15.90 for the 1 pint and a glass of wine, however this was rectified when I pointed out the mistake.

Excellent bar. Friendly and with a great range of beers from the quirky to the immensely quaffable. What's not to like?
