Encore Brasserie in Derry

We went here for a meal before going to a concert. We thought the menu choice was quite poor. Also 2 courses for £18 but most main dishes had a supplementary. Starter was very very small. Food was average.

Just enjoyed a lovely meal before the Neil Delamare show. Very tasty food. Staff pleasant and helpful.

Dinner was listed as 2 courses for £18 but the only fish dish had a £2 supplement meaning the 2 courses were actually £20. I feel it is overpriced and not a great choice of dishes on the Menu. Very disappointed.

We visited for lunch and while the food was lovely we felt it was completely overpriced. We only ordered one course but even the 2/3 course offers have supplement payments for a few dishes. Not really any great savings. There are other places in town that are better value for a Saturday lunch.

While attending a show we had no time for a full meal. however the lovely staff at the Arbutus let us sit and share a dessert. They made us truly welcome even though we on spent a little. That is service.

Diving out of the house we had no dinner plans going to see a show at the forum and stumbled across Arbutus chanced our arm to see if we could get a table. We were seated immediately and order taken quickly, food was served fresh piping hot and in a speedy time. I was a bit panicky in case we were late for the show but we had time to spare I had the curry and my husband had the steak cooked to perfection. Will be sure we are prepared next time and leave enough time so we can take our time to enjoy the great food, first class service from very friendly staff.

After my daughter's graduation from Ulster University which was held in The Forum my family ate at Arbutus at the Forum. Everyone agreed the food was delicious, served promptly and was generously portioned. The staff were attentive and friendly and we benefited further from a 20% discount offered to graduates. I would recommend this restaurant highly to anyone attending events in the Former in the City. Thank you Arbutus

This restaurant has just recently opened up again for lunch. The servers were pleasant and the helpings were ample. I had the vegan cauliflower pakoras. A side order is £1 extra. To be honest I did not need the side as there was plenty in my main course. I was impressed with how well presented and tasty my food was. My Companion enjoyed her lunch as well. We will return.

Ate here last night Servers were all so friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Would really recommend this place for a night out or before a show, brilliant!

Visited Arbutus restaurant last night for a pe-show meal. My wife and I have attended before and have found the food of a good quality and filling. Last night I was underwhelmed with the service. A new manager took our food and drink order. I was unimpressed by his curt manner. I asked could the chicken fajitas be served without the chicken. I was abruptly told that they couldn't be served this way. I then ordered the vegetable curry. The abrupt manner and lack of customer care really threw me and made me question whether I would return. The food was good and all other staff were very accommodating but this lack of care by the manager dented my birthday celebrations.

Never disappointed coming to this restaurant, very pleasant setting, staff very attentive, good to see Patrice on the staff now very experienced guy, very pleasant and helpful, excellent service, good menu good value, and very nice, highly recommend a visit here

Service good and staff friendly. Very helpful with gluten free diet. The starter and dessert was 3 tasters each and we would have preferred a better choice . These tasters were good. The main course was ok but not special.

Night out with my partner going to Evita, called in for stakes before the show only one word describes the food here EXCELLENT. Looking forward to the next time

Have been here before on show nights,very disappointed on this occasion.The trio of starters were very good as usual cannot fault and ordered the sirloin steak as normally do,big mistake it came out undercooked and too much fat and grisly pointed this out to the waitress who said she would pass it on to the chef never heard any feedback.Wife had same again sirloin very small too much fat on it.Will try here again as we always came away happy and hope that it was a one off.

Starter platter available for non vegetarians. Vegetarians can have soup of plain salad. One vegetarian main option - falafels. Was ok , 3 falafels were a bit dry, a lot of salad. At £14 expensive

Visited this restaurant before the fabulous Nathan Carter show, service first class, staff extremely friendly and helpful, standard of food amazing also very reasonably priced,we will definitely return.

Derry city is full of really great restaurants, when you visit the city you are absolutely spoilt for choice. Arbutus is right inside the Millenium Forum and the setting, staff and food are all excellent. Definitely recommend!

Called in on a Thursday lunchtime. Empty apart from a couple with a baby.

My Daughter and l went to this restaurant before going to see flashdance.The welcome we had was great our drinks order was taken very quickly. The trio of starters were beautiful a small demitasse of soup, small fish cake made of salmon with tobacco leeks and a lovely ceaser salad.The main course we both chose was salmon with a sweet glaze on a bed of champ, the desserts were a trio of desserts creme brûlée,chocolate basket ,house cheesecake all of which were delicious.The waiter had a bit of banter with us and it really made the evening. Will definitely go back sooner rather than later.

My partner and i booked a table on the night of a concert Charlie Landsborough we were greeted by a friendly waiter who showed us to our table .gave us the menu and asked what drinks we would like .We looked at the menu and it took us a while to pick from the wide rand on it we decided to have the steak both of us the waiters were very attentive and friendly having a laugh and a joke with us that was a good start to the night after we had dinner we where asked about a sweet menu .the food and side salad left no room for dessert so we had to decline we will be back again as that started the night of in good form we also enjoyed the show and would tell anyone to go to arbutus and relax as the staff will do Joey

Delicious 3 course dinner! Starters consisted of 3 delicious mini starters fishcake, soup & ceaser salad, followed by a very tender melt in the mouth sirloin steak with chunky chips. Dessert was too good to miss, again 3 mini desserts, delicious!

Was in on the 9th of February, first time, from we entered the restaurant to we left I can say this has been the best service I’ve received in any restaurant I’ve visited, all the staff fro the manager to the waiting staff, especially Aaron who was 100%, food excellent, highly recommended this restaurant, thanks

A very well arranged visit for a group of 23 and excellent food well served by friendly waiters and waitresses.

Waited 20 minutes after being seated before getting a drink and we had to go ask for it. Waitress said she couldn't see us at our table from top of room - shouldn't she know what tables are occupied??? My husband enjoyed his salmon dish but definitely I wouldn't recommend the steak n Guinness pie - just gravy with a piece of pastry on top.

Although a little pricey, the food was really delicious and we were delighted to find that there was special 50% off promotion on the dy we visited !!! The beef and Guinness pie was amazing as was the vegetarian Felafel dish with a fabulous tahini sauce. Well worth a visit!

Ayer llamé mientras compras en Derry y se hizo muy bienvenidos cuando llegué el camarero. Pedí el cerdo desmenuzado y steakburger que era delicioso, mientras que mi esposa tenía el bistec con salsa de pimienta y tiras de patatas fritas con ajo. Teníamos dos vasos de vino y todo por menos de 20 libras. Un precio estupendo y la comida muy sabrosa. Sin duda volveré

I have been several times the chowder was delicious they now have an offer on 50per cent lunch menu 35 per cent off evening meals and sunday lunch special is excellent this is a quiet relaxing restaurant great staff and the food is so good and served beautiful aw its so good and now so reasonable go on try it its really worth it i am looking forward to going back its not often nowadays to sit and chat without loud loud music

just back from a very good show took my mother as birthday treat was let down by the encore brasserie booked for 6.30 was served at 7.15 when asked where food was told in of hand way by manager ( you have it in time for the show) my mother is 84 i didn't want her waiting long i cant understand, why they have a set menu when booked, was shown the large menu told we could eat off this menu ls that to get you to book, main was £14 starter was £4 desert £4 but you could get two courses for £18 or three for £22 WHAT!!!!THERE IS NO SAVING the choice is not good as an another review said they are more interested in severing drinks to others not eating when i was paying for meal same manager asked was everything ok i said no he said well i hope you enjoy the show NO INTREST IN HOW I FELT ABOUT THE FOOD people are coming from all parts to see shows get you act together I personly won't be back

My partner and I went here last night and can't praise it enough! The staff were so friendly, the wine most enjoyable and the food was absolutely delicious! I am quite fussy when it comes to food, but the caesar salad and tomato and basil soup to start were excellent and the steak for the main was just melt in the mouth, possibly the tastiest steak I've ever eaten! The mash that accompanied it was also delicious. I can't wait to go back and will certainly be telling all my friends about it <3

Aye here last night before Seeing the show Dirty Dancing. I have to say to food was just OK. Waiting staff were so pleasant and very helpful, went to pay the bill and we wanted to split it up and pay separately but was denied this by the manger (I think), Italian guy wearing black. His response " no guys we're too busy to do that!". Now I understand that it was busy but if he had of stoped serving alcohol to people who we're not customers of the restaurant he could have fulfilled our request. Don't think we will be back

This restaurant is under new management and is now called Arbutus at Encore. We had a pre theatre dinner here. We liked that on a Sat night there was a 2 course meal for £18 or 3 course for £22. The menu is limited however. The only starter is a tasting platter of 3 items, small cup of soup, one haddock fish cake and small caesar salad. I liked the idea of this but it was very small. Mains choices were mainly chicken. Steak is £3 extra. I had honey glazed trout but it was just a piece of salmon on mashed potato, the parmesan chips that came with it were undercooked and cold and inedible. My friend's carbonara was definitely not a carbonara , it was a pasta dish swimming in a mushroom soups sauce. She said it was very poor but like the garlic potatoes that came with it. We also had the special melon cokctails which supposedly contained vodka, chambord , rose wine and water melon. It was only £4 but had no taste of alcohol at all and was just water melon juice. This place has potential but they need a chef who can produce properly cooked tasty food

Serves good food at a reasonable price with panache and humour. Ok so it's probably not where I'd choose to go on a romantic night out but for a pre theatre meal it can't be beaten. Make a night of it and go !

Returned for a pre Panto tea. Restaurant was REALLY busy compared to last year's visit. Staff were friendly, menu choice provided something for all tastes. Prices are very fair. Food was excellent. Portions were huge and everything tasted great. One and only down side was the LONG wait between ordering and food coming to table. (Over an hour.) Made the meal a little rushed to make the Panto. Although we did order just after a large group.

Great improvement since being taken over by new management. My husband and Ihave eaten lunch here on three occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff verywelcoming and attentive, such an improvement.

Encore Restaurant is under new management and my wife and I went there for Sunday lunch today....3 courses for £14.95. I had prawn salad, the salmon and the trio of ice cream and my wife had the bruschetta, roast beef and the trio of ice cream...excellent food and big portions. Definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch....any day!!!

Had a nice pre show dinner here recently. The starter of pork belly was amazing and my main of fish was also good. We enjoyed it but it was expensive for an early bird/pre dinner menu, they have no menu deals like the other restaurants nearby and because of this I wouldn't return .

Very tasty meal here last night before a show. I had the goats cheese bruchetta for starters, the Chicken Chimmichuri with roasted vegetables for main, with a side of mash, and the sticky toffee pudding with rum and raisin ice cream for dessert. The highlight was the main - lovely tender chicken, perfectly seasoned.My wife had the Asian cod which looked fantastic and the little bit I managed to steal from her plate tasted very nice.There was a decent selection of beers, cocktails and wines on the drinks menu and both food and drink were reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful with menu choices.We'll definitely be back here again.

Every time we have visited the service has been very good, the waiter is excellent, very friendly, efficient and charming and the waitresses are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much bother. The food is consistently good, always tasty! Will continue to return and would definitely recommend.

My wife and I called here a couple of times recently. It's quieter and less busy than other nearby restaurants. I found the food very tasty and the portions good without being oversized. Lunch is £7 and there is a good choice on the menu. I would definitely recommend the honey roast salmon on a bed of noodles or the mushroom tagliatelle. I can't comment on the evening menu but hope to try it some time.

Visited with family prior to a show. Staff friendly. Food basic and tasteless- overpriced and bland. Goats cheese not good and menu should have stated "goats cheese on panini" not "goats cheese bruschetta"!! Also was hard to find the prawns in the prawn starter among the large and plentiful lettuce leaves! Food temperature cool- don't think we'd go again.

Really surprised by this all round great experience. Lovely meal, great atmosphere, staff were friendly and service wonderful. There was a good choice on the menu and prices were very fair. Food was great. Very good for families and easy if going to a show.

Went for lunch sat. What a let down. Soup was good but the ham and onion sandwich they served me had to be the worst I have ever encountered. Had to send out for the bread which was hard the pigeons wouldn't have eaten. Mentioned this but know all waiter disputed this. He offered to change it but had waited half an hour for soup and Sandwich just wanted to get out. Sandwich consisted of hard bread, cheap ham and little red onion. Derry full of good places for lunch,sadly this is not.

My hubby and I,had a pre show meal in encore tonight,we had excellent service and great banter with paddy and his colleague,my husband was given a free cocktail to try,again excellent,and food excellent also,highly recommend.

Food is ok, but your paying a arm and a leg, for food you can get at half the price elsewhere, if you have money to throw away this is the place for you.

We went for a pre-theatre dinner recently. Service was pretty erratic - staff looked stressed, repeatedly forgot to bring menus and poured as much wine over the table as in the glass. Lots of customers were obviously getting worried at the lack of urgency, wrong orders being brought etc, as they didn't want to miss the start of the show. Starters were OK. We had the sirloin for a main - inedible, with some acrid sauce poured all over the top (tasted like from a jar). No-one came to check the food was OK. When another waiter cleared our plates she realized we'd hardly touched the stakes and gave us 20% off the bill and a complimentary drink. Maybe they were just having a bad night (did have a good meal here 3 years ago), but wouldn't go back based on this visit.

I didn't expect this restaurant to be as nice as it is. We went here for lunch one day on a whim and I'm glad we did. They serve the usual derry menu (chicken escalopes, garlics and tobacco onions etc) but I found the food to be much nicer and more flavourful than most other restaurants in the town. Their garlics in particular are great. Brilliant food for a brilliant price.

I recently won a competition for a meal for two at Encore Brasserie and I was not disappointed. The management and staff were extremely attentive and friendly and as it was my 40th Birthday on the same day they certainly went the extra mile. I had the pork belly to start and Spanish chicken as my main. My brother had the goat cheese Bon bons for his starter and pork belly for his main. We were given a little sampler of onion soup before our starter which was really tasty. Can I have the recipe please? Lol All courses were absolutely delicious and the pork belly main was massive to say the least. We opted for the cheese board for dessert and again, the cheeses and crackers were gorgeous. I was also presented with a complimentary birthday desert with 'happy 40th' written in chocolate on the plate. I would certainly eat there again. Highly recommended.

Was in encore at weekend prior to mama mia, had only been there once before for lunch few years ago. We were greeted by the most friendly staff and from start to finish every one was so lovely and couldn't have done more for us. We had 2 courses and a glass of wine for £20 each, we didn't have starter but they brought us complimentary mini cup of soup which was lovely. The main course was lovely but the deserts were absolutely gorgeous. Apart from slight error with bill I could not fault anything and we will definitely be returning. Great value for money and the best customer service I have seen in this town in a long time, well done.

Visited Millennium Forum in Derry today with family to see the West End show -Mamma Mia. An excellent production!. What made it all so special was the excellent pre show lunch served inEncore Brasseire. I loved my grilled Irish salmon. The others enjoyed their carbonara. Our delicious desserts and coffee served during the break. Best of all it was really good value. Excellent service, A great day had by all.

A warm friendly welcome set the tone for the rest of the evening Efficient helpful pleasant staff who did all they could to make the experience a memorable one. The meal itself was excellent with the Mexican Chicken the winner last night. Next time I will try the Sirloin Steak and order a side of potatoes from my home town Comber

Such a beautiful meal, well presented with very welcoming staff. Meal was delicious and staff very helpful. Lovely clean restaurant where children are very welcome. More than enough to eat.

I would definitely recommend this place if looking for a pre show meal. The place is 100 precent the prefect place to eat. So relaxing and candle light dinner. The staff are so friendly and suggest and recommend items on the menu. The food was nice however I think the sauce was not to my taste bud likings. I would definelty go back . Six of us together. Easy to get a table together. We all chose toasted chicken sandwiches. Perhaps a mistake to all choose the same thing because the chicken content was VERY minimal - maybe what was available was limited and spread too thinly? Otherwise, the sandwiches were hot and fresh. Would be unlikely to go back.

Arrived on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Was seated immediately by a friendly waitress, maybe manageress and given menus. Special offer of main meal and a drink for £8 which turned out to be great value. There were three of us and all our meals were really good. Great service, great food, and great value. This is a lovely restaurant and will definitely be back.

Me and my friend won a competition for the cocktail masterclass. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and had a glass of prosecco. Shortly after we had canapes. The food was delicious. We learned how to make cocktails and they were fantastic. All the staff were super friendly and was a great atmosphere. It was a great experience and we will def be back again :)

Friendly staff who were attentive but not intrusive throughout our meal.The food was well presented and very tasty. The menu could be added to but all of the dishes seemed popular on the night we visited. This is a great way to start a night at the theatre.

Meal with another couple. Had the lamb shank. Amazing!A nice touch was a sample of a tomato and herb soup in a small glass for us all between starter and mains.Great service, value for the quality of the food. Decor and atmosphere were great. U get what u pay for when you compare it to the 30% off Derry restaurants.

My most recent visit was for a work lunch with colleagues, was impressed as always. Have eaten here about a dozen times with my husband, friends and work colleagues, we have always enjoyed the food and service is first class too. Have had several of the dishes and can't decide which is my favourite as they are all delicious! Food is very reasonably priced.

Just wanted to say my wife and I had a very nice meal at this restaurant. Very relaxed atmosphere and the young man who served us on the evening (Ryan) was fantastic. Very understanding and nothing was too much trouble for him. He is a huge bonus to this restaurant, having worked in retail for 35 years myself I have come to appreciate good service. I do hope his boss appreciates him and his abilities out front in the firing line. Many thanks to all involved and will definitely be back.Sean & Mary

Went here to have dinner and see a show. Food was nice.Staff seemed quite grumpy and unwelcoming when we first arrived but then warmed up and were very kind and couldnt do enough for us. Very handy to eat here when seeing a show but appart from that dont think i would go here as there are lots of nicer places in the town.

I'm writing on behalf of my parents who recently enjoyed a meal here. They said the service was amazing and food was of such a high quality. Their waiter Ryan gave them his full attention for start to finish, they were so impressed with his level of knowledge on both food and drinks. They had an all round amazing experience here and no doubt the whole family will be back very soon.

Decided to try the new brunch menu today while visiting the market in the Forum.Was very disappointed with the the food.Tea came from a flask. The restaurant was not busy and so there was no need to opt for this lazy option which was not hot.I ordered the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup.The pancakes were undercooked, doughy and heavy. The promised maple syrup was actually golden syrup!No excuse folks!I've eaten at encore on numerous occasions before and know that you can do much better.

We organised a private function with approx. 30 people for lunch. The function room at the back of the restaurant was perfect for this event. The overall experience was great. From the initial enquiry right through to the function itself we were so well looked after - nothing was a bother to the friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent and service from the waiting and bar staff was first class. I would have no hesitation in recommending Encore Brasserie and I will definitely be back soon.

Had lunch at the Encore today and it was very good. A great selection of dishes which are a bit different to other lunch options in town. The staff are very attentive and professional. Overall great value for money for good food and excellent staff. I would have no hesitation to recommend the encore. If I was to offer any suggestions it would be to make sure more people know where the restaurant is, signs outside the Forum with menu etc... I imagine visitors to the city, and maybe even locals, don't know about this place or where to find it which is a shame.

Booked Encore Brasserie to celebrate my cousins 50th birthday. It was a late booking as another restaurant let us down. Despite being a busy night for the restaurant, they promised to cater for our needs. What an understatement! The staff certainly gave us a 5 star experience. The food was amazing and the attention to detail from the staff was not something I expected from such a reasonably priced restaurant. There is a great friendly vibe and a fantastic buzz. I will certainly make this my first choice in future as will the rest of my party that evening. Thank you to all who made it a fabulous evening.

I went to the Encore last night. The 16th March. My friends were treating me to a meal and a show for my birthday. We were given the lunch menu as they had no evening menu. They had no steak, although it was on the menu. When we asked to have desert served at the interval of the show we were told that they wouldn't be open. The food was good but the whole experience was very half hearted. Disappointing

Always a lovely experience here when going to see shows . Great food , pleasant staff and a vibrant atmosphere. One of my favourite places in the city.

We went for a meal before a performance at the Millenium Forum. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone going to see a show here. The menu has a good variety and the portion sizes are bang on. I had the Goats Cheese Bon Bons to start which were lovely, Pork Belly main which was really good and came with some of the best Black Pudding I've ever tasted, then the Belgian Waffle with Honeycomb Ice Cream for dessert. This was one of the best desserts I've ever had, very sugary but if you like that then you're on to a winner with this.Staff were really friendly and helpful, the house wine which came as part of the meal was good and the value at £25 for three courses plus a glass of wine is excellent.

We visited the Encore before a performance in the Millennium Forum. we were made to feel very welcome and the food and service were excellent. just the right size of menu. My mother in law only wanted one course so it was suggested that we shared her dessert at the break -a good idea

I visited Encore this week food was delicious as I have coeliac disease staff were very accommodating in providing a gluetin free meal for me staff were pleasant and helpful atmosphere friendly and quiete ambience good prices reasonable I would definitely recommend it

Visited the encore brasserie last weekend. A menu with just enough dishes, superb food and first class service from a polite and attentive staf . A good atmosphere helped when the theatre crowd came in during the break. A return visit will be on the card .

We went on friday night the food was beautiful the service was excellent and there was a great atmosphere the staff were very attentive.

Went on Friday night for pre theatre meal absolutely beautiful dinner great staff very efficient lovely clean place couldn't say enough about it steak was delicious you can order dessert for interval time which we did at this time we came out went to restaurant and our drinks and dessert was sitting on our table how good was that no queues fantastic three course plus glass of wine 20£ great night will be back go try it m m m m m

Visited Encore for a birthday party and had a wonderful time. Food excellent and staff first class. Everyone in our party had a beautiful meal. Would highly recommend. Thanks to Charis for a brilliant night.

My wife and I were in town shopping and wanted to get something to eat.I didn't fancy just pub grub but likewise didn't want anything OTT. We have eaten in Encore before but were not even sure if it was open during the afternoon. It is tucked away inside the Millenium Forum theater complex so you can't see it from the street.When we called in it was open and there were just a few tables taken.Really friendly and efficient staff ensured we had a lovely meal at a very good price.I would suggest they get some signage at the main door of the theater letting people know when they are open and they will see their footfall rocket skywards.

Attended a show in Millenium on Saturday and had a meal beforehand in Encore. We booked the meal for 6pm but unfortunately due to bad weather we did not arrive at the restaurant until 6.30pm. However the staff were extremely accommodating by quick service. The meal itself was excellent both in terms of quality and service. We were able to go back into the restaurant during the interval and have a dessert and drinks which we pre-ordered and were waiting at our table. The meal was great as was the Homegrown concert and a good night was had by all.

Visited encore before a concert very busy gem of a restaurant, the service from the off was fantastic the manager knows his stuff, from there local beer and produce and some amazing recommendations and our waiter was just so attentive but in now was invasive, and the star of the show, the food, the trout ( or as I stupidly first thought the salmon, until I was extremely well informed about the fish farm and seasonality) well it was just perfect although when I saw the special my friend ordered I had to try this aswell, will definitely recommend and will certainly be back, well done!!

We attended encore resturaunt before a concert in the forum .We had the 3coursespecialfor an amazing 20 pounds . We got a lovely warm welcome from a lovely lady called Shelley . She took our order and arrived back with 2 wee complimentary cups of soup just to take the chill of us as it was a very cold night . No sooner were are cups lifted when our starter affordably ribs in a maple sauce it was so tasty the meat just fell of the nonsense followed this with spicy chicken supreme and pork belly with the most delicious champ .Try their malteaser cheesecake it's to die for .My partner had a chessboard which was beautifully presented but only complaint was there was only one chutney and im nitpicking when I say this but it might just make it perfect . It was a lovely intimate setting with fast service and the most friendliest staff I've ever met especially daddy who greeted you like an old friend . We were so impressed and it made the whole concert experience a fabulous night I would highly recommend .

Family and Friends are all talking about Encore and rightly so. Ive been in here a few times at lunch time and the quality of food and service was very good indeed. Im looking forward to getting back to see the new menus! I have seen some new advertising on boards outside the Millennium Forum and there is definitely a new lease of life given to this often over-looked restaurant... (Not just for pre-theatre meals!) I would highly recommend it for lunch and dinner.

Was here as part of a christening party recently and will be back. From the minute we entered until we left everything was superb. Would definately recommend.
