Great place for a coffee and cake, lunch with a glass of wine or any excuse i can find to pop in here. Food is beautifully prepared and presented and tastes very good too. Staff are helpful and friendly and it is always a gentle and relaxed atmosphere. Tables outside on a sunny day and whilst no sea view it’s good to sit and chat whilst having lunch plus there are blankets available if a bit chilly. Tucked away behind the high street but very popular and quite small so book if you are a small party.

I believe that this place has recently changed hands but it certainly didn’t feel like the new owners were still bedding in. Everything seemed calm and well managed. Great coffee & good brunch. Traditional for partner, which he really enjoyed & avocado & poached eggs on toast for me. My eggs were perfectly poached but would have expected a bit more prep to the avocado, rather than simply sliced onto the toast. All good quality & fresh. Nice service. Would recommend.

Having tried to book a table unsuccessfully on several occasions at last we managed to get in. Having done so we now know why this place is so popular; the food is top quality, well-cooked and totally amazing whilst the service is attentive and the coffee excellent. We hope to be sampling lunch soon (but probably not on a day we have ahd breakfast!)

Absolutely love this place! We had been celebrating my dads 80th birthday the day before and I didn’t feel like cooking breakfast for 14 so we came here, we were lucky to have good weather and have a table outside.Amazing breakfast - highly recommended two courses - full English followed by pancakes with fruit (add the fruit to your mushrooms and tomatoes and you’ve almost got your 5 a day!) Called in on spec whilst in area on business. Emma's Kitchen beckoned me in as we passed. So glad I listened to my instincts. Lovely feel to the place, approachable and helpful staff and the food was delicious, fresh and imaginative. With no fuss at all they came up with 3 vegan options for me. I chose the vegan tasting plate which was gorgeous. Homemade seeded humus, anti pasti on a bed of leaves, carrot salad with nigella seeds, warm bread, olives and peppadew peppers. Don't walk past!!!

A brisk walk along the beach with friends on a bright Sunday morning to work up an appetite and then lunch. Small but a light and welcoming room and smiling staff was a good start. Then was small, conisting of soup and pate as starters and roust beef, pork or chicken as mains. Crab cakes for a lighter alternative. Between us we had all three meats and beautifully cooked vegetables. Outstanding roast potatoes and cauliflower in a cream sauce were highlights but the meats were all praised. Pretty impressive too was a rice pudding.

What can I say? tried to eat here fancying an all day breakfast. Upon arrival no other customers in there, There was a lady sitting at a table doing book work so obviously the owner, This lady never even looked up let alone offer any greeting to us. Another young girl came from the kitchen and when we asked about breakfast replied only up until 11.30, This was approx. 1pm so we perused the menu nothing we fancied so up and left. Said to my husband they had sausage and mash on the menu so obviously has sausages cooked so how long would it have taken them to cook some bacon mushrooms and egg and the rest of what one has with a cooked breakfast. Surprised because as said no other customers in there at all. And given the amount of eating places in Frinton surely showing a customer that you are willing to go the extra mile for them is great customer service and keeps a customer coming back to you instead of the other eating places in Frinton. With the amount of eating places within Frinton can a place on a back street afford to be so independent, Will not go back there as really felt like not welcome by the lack of greeting upon arrival which is very off putting, How long to look up and something does it take?

We booked Emma’s Kitchen for a surprise 60th Birthday treat for my mum based on the trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. The food and service we received was first class. We originally pre-ordered 4 cream teas but called on the morning of our booking to add 4 more and this was accommodated without any issues. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant which could easily have been located in Covent Garden. As I’ve already said the food was excellent, in addition to the cream teas we had the kedgeree, the terrine and the burger. I have to give a special mention to the lemon drizzle cake which was the best I’ve ever eaten. Thank you so much for making to afternoon so special!

Have been for an extremely good breakfast here before. Lately everybody has been raving about the Kedgeree which is served all day. £8 of pure pleasure and definitely worth the description as Emma's signature dish. With a nice large glass of white it was a perfect lunch sitting in the sun - when it's warmer you can sit outside. My only problem will be picking something else from her menu the next time I go - which will be soon - as it sounds and will doubtless be delicious. Go it's quaint, genteel and these people love to cook for and serve you.

We booked Sunday lunch for my fathers birthday. The menu is on a board on the wall, no starters just a main and dessert which in fairness was fine for a usual sunday lunch but maybe if we had realised this we wouldn't have booked for a special occassion. The food was amazing, just like your grandma used to make, delicious meat and a good selection of vegetables. However...... when we got there at 1pm we were told that there was a private party at 2.30 so by the time we had ordered and everyone had arrived we had about an hour to eat 2 courses which did feel rushed. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food as is was gorgeous but maybe just check they don't have any private parties on the day you are going.

Had pre theatre dinner with friends. Had heard about it from others and was really looking forward to it. Sadly 2 out of 3 mains were seriously substandard, and one was completely inedible. We complained as the lamb rump was fatty, gristly and tough, others had also complained, and we were not charged for these 2 dishes. We were told 'when I cut it I knew it wasn't good enough' - which made me wonder why they served it! There was an apology but no offer of any other gesture eg waiving drinks charge, or starter cost - despite this meaning one of our party had basically not had a meal as she had not had a starter, and as it was pre theatre, we did not have time for dessert. Wild mushroom bruschetta starter was very nice, though. Felt it was all a bit overpriced and table was sticky, which did not impress. Would not go back, nor recommend it.

I had the best crab crakes of my life, the place was so warm and cosy, and it's the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch or a slice of GORGEOUS chocolate tart. My grandmother took me here, and she is not an easy woman to please, but we both had a lovely time. The waitress serving us was so lovely as well, especially when my gran had issues with the step outside. Probably (definitely) needs a ramp for those who find steps difficult, but I would climb a 1,0000 steps if it meant i could have those crab cakes again.

I have visited Emma's Kitchen twice and both times the food was exceptional. I had my engagement meal here in December and we were made to feel very special. The atmosphere is very homely and chilled. I would definitely recommend a visit and will be visiting reguarly

Emma's Kitchen is slightly off the beaten track but well worth a detour for home cooking and a lovely atmosphere. The cafe is small but scrupulously clean. Smiley service and a certain degree of flexibility (i.e. serving breakfast well after the advertised finish time because someone requested it) added to the warm welcome. My only criticism would be that there were not many vegetarian items on the menu, and that the service isn't fast. Personally I would say it was worth a short wait for perfect pastry on the quiche of the day, fresh, flavoursome salad, and the most delicious brownie for pudding...I actually can't remember when I last ate such a soft, tasty, chocolate brownie. Will certainly be going back.

Well one place we won't be returning to. Popped in for lunch on a Saturday to be told sorry only breakfast menu on Saturdays. Opted for the special bubble and squeak with crispy bacon and poached egg. £6.50 the bubble and squeak was very soggy and tiny on top 2 crispy rashers of streaky bacon and a poached egg. No bread to accompany presented it in a large bowl . It looked lost. Left feeling hungry . Kitchen looked very clean and very nice coffee. Only 4 smaller tables and 1 larger .

We visited here for lunch, as it was one of the few places open on a Monday! We were not disappointed, I had the pulled pork which was delicious and plentiful. Others had crab cakes and kedgeree both dishes were declared to be very good.Very pleasant surroundings and friendly staff/owners.My only gripe was that we ordered a side order of sauté potatoes, we received 4 slices in a small ramakin, delicious but at £2.95 a bit over the top.Would we visit again - yes definitely

I had visitors from Croatia with me and we were looking for somewhere to have afternoon coffee. We were welcomed on arrival and when my friends noticed they served wine they no longer wanted coffee. So three bottles of wine later and a pot of tea and a delicious scone for me, we left having been looked after by the most delightful waitress. We were completely un-rushed in their beautifully relaxed surroundings as the winter sun shone through the windows. It was nice to see into the immaculate kitchen too. My guests were thoroughly impressed. Thank you for a delightful afternoon.

We stumbled upon Emma ' s kitchen by accident and it was superb. I love that there are only a few covers. We live in Colchester and I can see stealing away to spend time here. The food was some of the best I have had in a while. The venison sausages were well - made and seasoned and the jus was zestful but not overpowering. My 4 year old even agreed. The staff were sweet and helpful, even cuddling my two month old so I could eat.

I am so reluctant to give this review, as the food here is superb and now everyone will find out and I won't be able to get a table again! Great service, warm and friendly atmosphere. Small venue, so if you wanted a large table (10 or more) you would have to book the whole restaurant. Perfect for small parties, couples and families. If I was to have one grip, it would be that they needed another starter choice, as I am unable to eat fish/seafood and I don't eat rabbit, apart from that no complaint at all!

Don't tell any one but this is the best restaurant in town. Foods superb. Ambience is understated chic, (& rarely disturbed by noisy trippers). Please keep it that way Emma. It's like fine dining at home without the effort of cooking.

We ate here twice in August: once for lunch with friends and once for dinner as a couple. Both times the food and service were excellent, but the best thing was the ambience - difficult to describe but relaxing and comfortable. We will definitely be back.

I recently visited this establishment twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. The produce and food is fantastic; that's all. Both times the service was slow. I have worked is hospitality and understand the requirements of customer service to all customer types. Myself and my sister were left unimpressed with poor staff attitudes toward young children in their restaurant. The place is too small for them really. In addition their menu although suits my children who eat a wide variety of things. Won't suit most fussy eaters. I would only take children age 10 or over. Not that I will be returning. The breakfast menu is good and the porridge is lovely. The lunch menu as mentioned, needs more verity. I feel that there is better on offer along the avenue in Frinton; that are welcoming, offer variation of food and are cheaper for the same quality. Overall I left very disappointed by my experience here. I only gave them a second chance out of convenience and wish I had not bothered!

We found Emma's kitchen on Tripadvisor and based on the previous reviews, it was well worth a visit. We were not disappointed and can say our lunch was a lovely relaxing experience. We shared our starters and mains, which were mixed olives with lovely warm walnut bread with olive oil & balsamic to dip the bread in plus the mixed seafood platter which was all lovely with a nice glass of chilled white wine! We then had the fishcakes and savoury tart which we shared that also came with a nice side salad dressed with pesto and coleslaw - we thoroughly enjoyed our mains! We then had to have a dessert! Tarte au citron and a mixed berry cheesecake which were both delicious and we finished off with coffees. The service was really good!! Emma's kitchen is a really friendly place and we even had chats with people on other tables. If you're in Frinton, then Emma's kitchen is well worth a visit!

Came across this special little cafe by chance when visiting Frinton one lunchtime last week. My friend and I both had the pulled pork which was so tasty - we would have loved to indulge in something sweet too but the portions were so substantial we had to just imagine what delights we were missing. Would hope to return someday and can highly recommend all aspects - ambience, decor and quality of the food.

Got a bit busy and the it took a little longer than expected - but it was easy to see that they were busy and handled it well.Lovely place and I hope to see it success continue.

If their business had been that good they would not have packed up and gone just like that. They would have had to have been given notice and used the notice period to find somewhere else. There are plenty of places around Manningtree to rent I am sure. But the trouble was they did not listen to customers and take on board what their customers wanted such as hot plates for hot food. And you do not say to a customer when they ask can the plates be hot? you are the only ones who ask for hot plates. We gave up going there having given many chances to up their game to no avail. And I am sure we are not the only ones. Every time we passed by the place was nearly always empty. To survive you need to be full constantly. There are so many other places in Manningtree that to stay in business you need to keep on top of your game and these did not. Even the toilet and hand basin was dirty poor standards all round.

As always we had a fantastic meal, I come here 1/2 times a week with my one year old and this week we brought my partner along and he loved it. I’ve had breakfast in every cafe in clacton and this is my fav. Great quality food. The only place I actually have meat. Staff are always attentive and a great vibe. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a good old English breakfast. The kids meals are fantastic and also free which is such a wonderful thing to do.
