Ema Balti Takeaway in Cardiff

Haven't been to this takeaway before but it was recommended to me and glad I went there I enjoyed it so much it was really tasty

I ordered directly through their website and received an email with confirmation. After over an hour I rang to ask where it was to be told they have not received the order and that I could not get either food or a refund for the money paid. Do not order from them it is a scam!

Set meal for one is £10, i've never managed to finish as portions are so generous! Can be a bit oily but spoon it off and job done.

its very simple, I put in an order, paid by card, they took the money and canceled the order and didnt notify me that they canceled. so Im about £15 down and left hungry. great stuff. Disgusting F***s! Recommend avoiding at all costs.

I used to be a frequent order from Ema Balti, they are notoriously late on deliveries but not usually by much so I’ve stuck with them. The food is usually OK for the price as long as you don’t mind going through a roll of kitchen towel to soak up the ghee. However, the last time I visited, they were so late and the service so poor that I will not use them again. Ordered on Just Eat at 7.15 and they told us it would be delivered in 25 minutes. Restaurant accepted the order and told us it would be 8.20. 8.35 the food had not arrived. We rang them to ask when it would be and the restaurant told us that the driver was out with our food but was delivering to other customers first and they were exceptionally busy. If this was the first time they were late, I could believe this but I believe it’s more likely a case that they either take too many orders than they could manage or try to cut costs by not taking on enough delivery staff. We were told 5-10 minutes. 8.50 and still no food. My sister called the restaurant and was told that the driver was lost (he had our number and they’ve delivered here before but we had heard nothing from the delivery driver). The restaurant were rude, refused to refund out delivery fee and refused to let us speak to the manager. By 9.15, 2 hours after we ordered and our money was taken, we still had no food. The restaurant then said they would cancel our order. Given that it’s unlikely any restaurant would be willing to right off £30 worth of food I don’t believe the food ever went out. We were still refused to speak to the manager and when we asked, someone came on the phone shouting “bottle of coke, bottle of coke” pretending they couldn’t understand/speak English. Word of warning about Just Eat, too... We rang them and they were useless, apparently, the T&Cs of Just Eat is that they take the order and money and pass it through to the restaurant so when things so badly, like this, they offer no help whatsoever. Will never use this place again, and I’ve told my friends in the area to avoid too. 1. If you can’t honor an order, don’t take it. 2. Don’t be rude to your paying customers, the people who keep you in business, when your food is 2 hours late. 3. Don’t lie to your customers. It’s not difficult, really.

2 hours after ordering still no food. Manager and staff are awful, cancelled the order due to me having the cheek to complain. They have never ever delivered an order on time. Trading standards will be informed.

It's a pretty ho-hum affair, with the curry more or less what you expect/require from a cheap takeaway, complete with lots of curry powder and not a great deal of taste. Slightly disturbing to see the server basically demanding more money from a customer, but then this place was always a bit like that. Bring back "Hong fu"!

Half the order missing and when it was re delivered tbe rest of the food had gone cold and the re delivered food was full of ice, man on the phone said he couldn't help as the boss wasn't there, food ended up in the bin what a waste of money WILL NOT ODRER FROM HERE AGAIN SHOCKING SERVICE

I called in here on a Sunday evening, I read the extensive menu and chose the set meal for one all for £8.95. A starter, a main, a rice, a bread, two poppadom's, a salad and a minty sauce. The food took less than 15 minutes, you can watch the chef cook it if you care. The main was a little oily, I just spooned it off the top. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the Balti starter was superb.

Found the set meal for one a bargain. Enough for 2 people which was great. Will definitely order again took about 45 minutes but worth it

Just got a takeaway from this place and its very nice food. Arrived 1h20 after placing the order, exactly on time (Saturday night). Food is nice and tasty, I got set meal for 1 and cant eat that all! My starter is big enough for a starter, I was expeting something smaller, well done. The only thing- my nan bread is little bit cold but never mind. Definitely would order again

Had a takeaway for two last night using the three course for £8.25 option. Arrived with four poppodoms which I didn't order and the bill was £17.95 so I assume I got charged for them. Service was prompt but food was poor. Both my wife's and my curry were incredibly greasy. I ordered a plain Madras with my biryani which had hardly any taste. Won't be ordering again. My favorite curry house in Cardiff doesn't deliver so my quest for a decent takeaway deliver continues

Nice menu good quality generous portions delivery service is good flavoursome high quality value for money

I Have been using this Take away for quite some time now, Never had any reason to complain, always enjoyed what ever I and my Family have ordered, would recommend Ema

We ordered whole tandoori chicken because we rang and asked if they had it,when it came it was actually chicken wings and legs in 2 boxes,one of the mint sauces was mouldy in the small plastic tubs,it stank,when i rang to complain the guy on the phone didnt care a krapp

This place gets better and better. You can watch them cooking in the kitchen, hygiene rating of 5. Quick delivery. Food is delicious.especially the duck tandoori. Definitely worth a go. Not a sit down restaurant but I feel it's one of the best Indian take always in cardiff.

I would disregard the first review which seems a tad 'suspicious' I would say!! Ema Balti won't win any awards for innovative Indian cuisine but it makes all the usual standard takeaway fare and it makes them well! If anything it would benefit from trying to be a bit different and offering a few tofu or veggie dishes beyond the expected run of the mill stuff. The food is perfectly tasty however and it offers excellent value for money. Given the latter and the fact that it scores a full 5 for food hygiene, it deserves more custom. Staff are nice too.
