Ely Kebab House in East Cambridgeshire

Found this gem with my partner at the end of summer and cannot get enough of delicious shish kebabs both chicken and lamb are so tender and full of flavour, fresh salad simply amazing.

Food is very delicious and the staff are extremely welcoming, i would recommend it to everyone that needs something quick and delicious :)

having been a resident of Ely for over 15 years and always gone to Ely Kebab House, I can't tell you how disappointed we were for the last visit. It has clearly changed ownership and whilst it was "ok" it wasn't a patch on the taste and quality of the food we have had from there previously.

I came here on a flying visit to Ely. The seating area for 14 customers is quite spacious and pleasant. The service was polite but sadly my lunch was less enjoyable. About half of the Lamb Shish was inedible. As they only had plastic forks and no knives, it was best to eat the salad with my bare hands. At least the garlic sauce was tasty. Lamb is probably not always easy to cook, though. I imagine they have far more customers for takeaways than eating in. Exploring Ely afterwards felt much better.

Well flavoured kebabs,cooked over hot charcoal, nice fresh salad,served with tasty homemade chilli and garlic sauce, and served with a smile. The only thing that could be improved upon would be the pitta bread which was box standard, maybe some Turkish pide bread or a homemade flat bread.

A bit expensive, at £8.50, compared to other competing take-aways which are £6 - £6-50, but well-filled with lamb. Friendly staff and the wrap was well packaged. I enjoyed it.

Absolutely disgraceful attitude from the staff,didn't wait to take full order. The staff continued, to talk to each other,in their language and sniggering. We were waiting for at least twenty plus minutes. Eye rolling from the staff ,to each other. Disgraceful visit ,all round. Will not go there again.

I am a resident of Ely and have lived here for 2 years now. This was the first time that we visited this place. My elderly parents and I (we are Asians) were treated condescendingly when we visited this place to get some takeaway. From the moment we entered, the staff behind the counter were passing snide remarks in their native language and had a conceited look on their face as though they were superior to us in some way. This kind of discrimination in a quaint town like Ely can only be seen at such places. Needless to say, we will never visit this place again.

Tasty food, great portions and the owner Carlos was very kind to me and my companion who has a disability.

I went in a Friday night just before closing £7-95 for a large kebab , wow overcharged or what yes it was ok but £7-95

Excellent meal in a place with a real buzz. This place was full while most of the other eating places we walked past were mostly empty. Food was delicious and plentiful, service was very good.

We have eaten here a few times. The menu has many choices for lunch. We had the chicken Kebabs with fries. The kiddos had chicken fingers and were spoiled with endless french fries. The staff was friendly and the place was well kept. I can say this is a definite place to stop for lunch,

The food is generously portioned, and there’s a presentable eating area. The staff are also friendly and talkative.

Decided to drop in for lunch. Had a great choice of kebabs, chicken and burger dishes. Eat in or take away. We decided to eat in ( only a limited number of seating) and glad we did. Our chicken shish was cooked perfectly and the accompanying salad, pitta bread and chips were lovely. Friendly staff and this lovely little kebab house was spotlessly clean. Our first visit but when we now visit Ely we will for sure head back for our lunch.

Not surprised by the excellent reviews for this restaurant. We had a lovely meal here and can well appreciate why it is so popular. Complimentary salad/bread/olives a lovely touch and much appreciated.

Last 3 visits doner meat been stone cold , other food generally nice , service is friendly , place looks clean , charcoal grill is nice

Have been coming here for a number of years and have never had a bad meal. Have generally tried most things off the menu - the House Special kebab is fab! Chips are also lovely

First time here . Was recommended by a friend . I had a donner meat was cold . And the chilli sauce was very poor. Should of ordered the chicken kebab as they used a charcoal grill .

My partner and I went here on a of chance unfortunately we were given dried chicken. In a wrap and donner in a ptta we were changed 15 pounds for these . But must say they gave us lots of fried dried chicken as well . Urm should have been happy really? Certainty won't be going there again

What a waste of time, ordered food at 19:30 it didn’t arrive until 22:10 nightmare.We rang the restaurant twice and they kept lying to us saying it was on its way. When the food did get here they arrived with only half of what we ordered !Why didn’t they tell us this on the phone ? We have waited nearly 3 hours only for the food to arrive freezing cold and have us one kebab to feed 3 people even though we ordered 3 ! Always have an issue with these very bad service.

Popped in here with friends part way through a few beers in Ely.

Been going here for years, run by the same gentleman and his family. Allways excellent food with a huge choice of kebabs, pizzas, burgers, and fried chicken. They are happy to listen to your requirements if any.

We used to love coming to Ely Kebab because their chicken had a special sauce and their garlic dip was nice and thick.

Very disappointed after being so hungry to order a Shish and Chicken kebab, the Chicken was good but the Lamb was awful. Even the dog struggled to chew it!!!

Este es su nivel para llevar en la mayoría de los sentidos - kebab puedes conseguir también hamburguesas, pizzas, pollo frito, pero nos quedamos tirados en el real parrilla en que sabemos kebabs puede probar increíble (ver mi crítica de Verdo, por ejemplo! ).

Hemos intentado comprar tres comidas para llevar de esta fábrica. Fuimos en cola detrás de otro y persona. Cuando fue nuestro turno, el hombre detrás del mostrador se veía detrás de nosotros a alguien a quien él claramente sabía, intercambiado saludos y procedió a servir a esa persona antes que nosotros. Él simplemente se encogió cuando le preguntamos por qué lo hizo. Fue muy grosero y decepcionante y nuestro futuro a medida se pierde.

Paramos para el almuerzo después de ver otros comentarios y tenía un maravilloso almuerzo. Habíamos planeado llevar, pero decidimos quedarnos a comer. Nos alegramos de que lo hicimos. Nos sirvieron en vajilla muy bonita y la presentación y preparación eran tan bonito como el de cualquier restaurante en el que he estado. Y nuestra experiencia de comedor sólo mejoró el kebabs de pollo eran geniales. La carne era excelente y experimentado justo. La ensalada y pita hizo toda la comida justo. Tuvimos el pequeño tamaño y era mucha comida. Comemos allí de nuevo la próxima vez que estemos en Ely.

Este lugar era genial antes de la renovación, es ahora aún mejor.

We had a lamb shish kebab. It was delicious! The meat was tender and good quality, chilli sauce was home made and just right, salad was finely chopped. Chips were proper 'kebab shop chips'. A real treat.

I was just passing through with my friend,I been hear before but recently I hasn't been .when I came to shop the staff are so welcoming,than I have noticed they have done so much work inside the kebab house .looks really better.than we ordered doner kebab they so testy and delicious.i recommended to everyone in this place .

I ordered a Donna kabab with garlic a chilli sauce the meat was very greasy and the pitta bread overcooked it was like trying to eat cardboard !!

Comimos aquí en el fin de semana. Yo estaba muy impresionado por la amabilidad del personal. La comida estaba riquísima y atractivamente servido y a un precio muy razonable. Cometimos el error de pedir un menú grande, que era demasiado grande, pero fueron lo suficientemente amables para paquete lo era para llevar a casa. Sin duda volveré

Comida fabulosa a un precio estupendo. Excelente servicio que atendía sus necesidades sin pensarlo. La comida estaba muy bien preparado y presentado, y nos quedamos completamente lleno. Nos encantó la disponibilidad de comida para llevar que era incapaz de terminar así! Muchas gracias, sin duda otra vez! :)

I've been here so many times and every time everything was alright... But last time was a disaster... I've went 15 min before closing, but they took our order and I've paid. My order was 2 burgers and a chicken wrap and before they send them out, they're saying that they don't have salads, just lettuce... Their answer "sorry, I put them in the bin" !! Really?? Why you took the order then or why you didn't said that from the beginning?? Anyway, I got some tomatoes in the end but just on one burger, but both should have tomatoes and lettuce... When I got home I realised that I don't have chips for the burger... Speechless... I won't go back again...

The smell hits you in Market street and you follow it to the kebab shop and its well worth it.I love the wraps.

Went here for convenience and the food tasted great however, I had a terrible night and was sick repeatedly afterwards. A couple of weeks later I walked by the back door and saw fresh meat sitting outside waiting to go in to the takeaway. I'm not going back. Rumbles along the street is much better.

Always enjoy our food from here. 5 star rating for cleanliness and food hygeine.Staff are friendly and willing to tailor your order to your requirements.Would happily recommend to anybody.

On several occasions I've visited this Establishment and I've never been disappointed. Firstly, the options available on the menu cover all dietary needs and all look very appetising. On this Occasion I decided to try the chicken wrap meal which includes: a chicken wrap, chips and a drink. The wrap was a work of art! The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection. When asked if I'd like anything in the wrap I asked for everything. The server put in the PERFECT amount of salad. This wrap was something Leonardo Da Vinci himself would envy. The chips which was involved in the deal were also beautifully cooked, not like the ones which are common place in inner city Kabab houses. The seating area was clean and swept with a good amount of natural lighting. The area was a very tranquil place which perfectly accompanied the wrap for a pleasant eating environment.All in all 10/10

this place is brilliant I come here every week cant recommend enough. 5 star hygiene rating which inspires confidence as well.

Have been purchasing kebabs from this establishment for the past 20 years. The staff are very friendly. As it does gets busy I prefer to order our choice of food via the telephone. Price and value wise we always buy chicken and Shish kebabs. The meat is very well marinated and very tasty. The salad is very fresh and plenty of it, a choice of sauces are available. The fries are good too. Soft drinks are available, as are pizzas and burgers although we have tried them.Just for the record the team has a full 5 stars for cleanliness from the local county council.RegardsAndrew

As far as simple kebab takeaways go, this on is up there with the best, I take a 12 mile round trip avoiding 3 places that are much closer because this place has better food. That says it all for me.

I've been coming to the Ely kebab house for several years now as a little treat. The menu has expanded a lot over time, the staff are very efficient and friendly, the food is a good quality, quantity and value! I would definitely recommend!

Since moving to the south I have struggled to find decent kebabs. I think the Ely Kebab House has the best and closest to what I've had int he north east. My only gripe would be that the serving size is quite lacking. We're not buying kebabs because we're watching our waist lines so feel free to give us a few extra empty calories!

Ordered a house kebab at £8.70 explained I wanted extra chilli & lemon, no garlic sauce and my husband would be collecting. Had to ask for a recipt and then hand write my order on it for husband to read out on collection. I got home and opened up a burnt big pile of disgusting mess smoothered in garlic sauce which I hate, no chilli or lemon. It was burnt black. Awful. Could not eat it. Very disappointed
