Elsies Vintage Tea Room and Pie Parlour in Powys

Our first time visiting today, and what a little gem of a tea room!!! Friendly staff and banter with other customers; and importantly gorgeous food and cakes !! We have already booked an afternoon tea for two for my husband's birthday later this month.

A group of us recently visited Elsie's team room....what a gem of a traditional tea room. We had fresh sandwiches, fresh homemade sausage rolls and not forgetting homemade cherry meringue pie with cream and a couple of us had homemade scones. Would definitely recommend if you are staying local to here.

My sister and I visited Elsie's on Thursday 1st February 2024, we had a lovely warm welcome from the lady who served us. The tea room is really lovely inside with lots of vintage items to look at and music to match. We had cream tea which was really nicely presented and fresh. The fresh pies and cakes in the display cabinet looked absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning to taste something different next time. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and service we received. Thank you ladies for a lovely relaxed experience 😊

Wonderful little tea room, ideal stop for our walking group. Lovely tea and coffee, with delicious cakes including Eccles cakes and a wonderful Portuguese egg custard! Delightful and friendly staff. I've driven past here so many times and never stopped before. Must again soon!

A delightful, unique and scrumptious experience! Loved the dainty decor of decorative plates, teacups and teapot chandeliers! My hearty lamb pie, mash and gravy was so yummy!

Absolute Hidden Gem anybody passing you need to stop but be aware you will want to have a slice of everything 😊 Bacon brie and cranberry panini was superb thick cut bacon creamy brie cheese and cranberry sauce Also home made slaw was beautiful I did see another customer get the welsh rarebit if we stayed there any longer I definitely would of got a second helping Also tried the scones white chocolate and raspberry so delicious we got them for take away to eat by the lake

What a fabulous place! Genuine, friendly service and very welcoming. The team looked after us very well from start to finish. Delicious homemade savouries and cakes. One of the best afternoon teas I’ve ever had. Make sure you book as it’s a fairly small space but really don’t miss it if you fancy a treat. They also do homemade pies. I was called by my first name, which made me feel very welcome. There was a choice of freshly baked scones and preserves. Lots to love… highly recommended and would definitely return!

Hidden gem! This place served the best cream tea I've ever had and I've spent years in Cornwall. Everything freshly made the same day. Even took a pie away with me to eat later in the day. Would recommend this place!

A lovely spot for a bite to eat. The ladies were so friendly and accommodating of our dog. We both had the Croque Monsieur which was delicious. Looking forward to visiting again

Super lovely afternoon tea, with the perfect savoury/sweet balance. Best sausage rolls I've had, really good amount of sandwiches and selection of delicious cake. I like my cake and can honesty not fault these! Would highly recommend. Other food being served also looked amazing (cake slices are HUGE) so I'll be heading back! Staff were super friendly, the tea room itself is cosy, beautifully decorated and really lovely atmosphere. 10/10!

Booked a 9-30 am slot today, Sat...for the Breakfast club....This has to be the best value breakfast, anywhere in Shropshire/Powys....£10 per head...Tea, Coffee, Pan a choc, fruit, Yoghurts, Toast, and blueberry muffins, and that's just for starters.. Followed by full English, which was my best ever.....Service was first class... Try this little gem, of a Cafe...You won't be dissapointed...

Had the most fabulous afternoon tea yesterday. Delicious, home baked food and such lovely people running it! My husband had booked it for my birthday and the owners popped banners up, popped a candle in a cake and sang happy birthday to me - so thoughtful and made me feel special. Will absolutely visit again as the food was so nice and so plentiful!!!

We paid a visit to this lovely place to meet friends before our onward visit to Shrewsbury. The food and service was excellent and such good value. We shall definitely return.

It's 2021, the fact that you offer no vegan options and seem proud of it by clearly saying "we do not offer vegan options" makes this a place where I and other vegans should stay well away from. It sounds like you have something against vegans and you do not want their custom, and you have no intention of changing with the times and changing your outdated ways. You could still offer a Vintage experience and offer modern food.

Tiny but perfectly formed. We had a wonderful time here. The service is excellent - the ladies make you feel so welcome. The food we ordered was delicious especially the scrumptious cakes. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. We would definitely recommend to everyone.

What a gem! We visited for a cream tea that we had been gifted and what a gift. Such a lovely, friendly greeting and an excellent experience. I would never have thought of putting lemon curd on a scone but such a fab match to the lemon and blueberry flavour 😁 We couldn't leave without buying a few extra treats too. We will certainly return. The spaniels were also made very welcome too which was an extra bonus.

Stumbled across this place and so glad we did. Delicious food and such lovely people too. Had the Homity pie and the roulade and it was delicious. Even the dogs were welcome. 10/10 would come again.

Just experienced an afternoon tea. An absolutely brilliant spread display, the food wasn't bad either, I would certainly recommend anyone else to try it, lovely ladies serving you as well, what more can you ask for.

My wife and I were visiting Melverley Church and I looked online for a nearby tearoom. What a find. This is a gem of a tearoom was. Tea served in vintage china in a beautifully decoted setting. The food was of the highest quality - all home made - and very reasonably priced. The owner and her assistant were friendly and charming. We felt welcome and valued customers.

I think I've had my best bacon sandwich here! So tasty! Really enjoyed our Cycling stop here

Welcoming friendly Excellent service and Fabulous scones with cream ,jam and a pot of tea one of Shropshire little gems

What an amazing place to find. Looking online before heading to the area I was intruiged by this little place so we decided to stop off on route. The food was amazing, sausages were fresh from the butcher next door, my partners tuna panini was top draw and she had a cherry cha cha cake for dessert which was "cherrytastic" (her word and she adores cherries). I wanted a scone with cream and jam (which is my go to with places like this) and they recommended the rasberry and white chocolate scone over the sultana and my word was it to die for. The interior design is quitky and very nice ambiance. The best thing about it though are the people working there who were not just nice and accommodating to us as customers but we all chatting like people you meet at a party or as friends, sharing stories, laughing and joking and were true reflections of their community which just makes you want to come back (we went through on Wednesday and are going in again in Friday when heading home it was that good).

Thankyou so much for a fabulous birthday afternoon tea party .We were warmly welcomed and cared for the whole time. Food was excellent quality, gorgeous raspberry and white chocolate scones so tasty I will be recommending you to everyone. See you soon Jan.

A lovely place to stop for a bite to eat and a proper cup of tea, served in China cups with love. All the lunches and snacks are fabulous with pies to die for...... then there's the cakes and deserts! Wow! Eat in or take away, you won't be disappointed. Sit and relax in a beautiful little room. Just the best pies and cakes. Dureing lockdown those friday boxes are the highlight of my week always leaving me with a huge smile. Victoria is a talanted woman with a real eye for detail. If you have not tried Elsies then you need to get it done.

Called in to Elsies Vintage Tea Room (Thursday) and had a lovely afternoon cream tea with homemade scones and Yorkshire tea. Really friendly atmosphere and very Covid safe. Will definitely return when out for a drive this way.

Ellie's Tea Room was a joy to visit! A quaint, little tea room that is off the beaten track. Only has 4 tables but it makes it more personal and special. The food and drink is amazing (seriously recommend their cheesy chicken and leek pie if it's on the menu!) We rang ahead, and were told it was first come first serve, but were told they would save a table for us and they did which was really above and beyond service!

Whether I’m just sneaking in for a quick cuppa or I’m needing full sustenance of some proper food; this place does not disappoint. Wonderful welcome ( nowadays the obligatory sanitizer gel and handing over your contact number included) and the coleslaw is gorgeous....... along with the pies, panini, puddings or cakes...... just lovely.

We went because of the TA reviews. How right they were. This is a "proper" tea room. The pies were delicious, and despite being full we just had to try a scone. Equally good, with Yorkshire tea to finish. We will return (soon).

A group of us called in at Elsie’s after a local walk. Had a warm welcome and a menu offering some fantastic home cooked favourites. Opted for the cream tea which was gorgeous, warm scones, choice of jam, butter and cream and a big pot of strong tea. Lots of great looking homemade cakes on offer too as well as hot food. Bought some pies to take away. Highly recommended, great food & a warm and friendly welcome. Will be back.

We’ve just stopped here on our way to Barmouth after seeing the reviews and it definitely didn’t disappoint! We were made to feel very welcome and the service was very warm and attentive. We have a young daughter which they were very accommodating for.We all had the lamb pie which was delicious. Mine came with a yorkie, mash & gravy. My Gran had sautéed potatoes and winter slaw. The lamb was very tender and the pastry was possibly the best I’ve had. Despite being very full we couldn’t pass up on the homemade sweets. I had a berry & white chocolate scone, my husband, apple & cinnamon and my Gran had a slice of lemon drizzle. For the purposes of writing this review I sampled them all and they were all worth the extra lbs. I would definitely recommend saving room. Will definitely be coming back next time we’re passing.

I visit every week and am never disappointed. Always something tasty to tempt you to have more than tea or coffee. This weeks must have was a Black Forrest Roularde...unbelievably good. Cant wait for next week!

We arrived here soaking wet and very cold a band of 4 cyclists. We were given the warmest of welcome. Pies to die for and wonderful Yorkshire puddings. Would very much recommend

What a beautiful little Tea Room! I came for lunch, had a delicious parsnip soup followed by the most outstanding cream tea I have ever eaten! I chose the blackberry scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream - absolute heaven!! And the tea room itself is so cosy and homely with all of the china wear and bunting! Even bought a beautiful bone china cup and saucer to take back home to Berlin :) Thanks ladies for the beautiful day and excellent service, I'll definitely be back again!

First visit to the tea room with my friend ,a warm welcome on a wet and windy day ,lunch was panini for me and soup for my friend both were delicious and followed it with home made lemon merangue pie which melted in your mouth ,we shall definatly be returning soon

Another lovely welcome from Vicky and a delicious lunch. We had each had one of Vicky’s beautiful ‘Shrewsbury lamb with rosemary’ pies, mash, Yorkshire & gravy. I was spoiled too with a jug of extra yummy gravy! Just wish I’d had room for some homemade bakewell or egg custard tart (my favourites) but that demands a return visit. Always an event worth the journey. Thank you once again

Visited Elsie’s tea room today and again was not disappointed

Met friends for afternoon tea at our favourite little tea parlour and it was fab as always! Bacon, Brie & Cranberry panini on seeded bread (healthy option!🤣) with a side of homemade coleslaw! Yum!! Hubby had Tuna panini and said it was very nice to! My friends opted for fresh homemade scones with jam & cream and pots of tea all round. Other guests were people staying in one of our holiday cottages! Atmosphere was lively! Always a laugh to be had here! Do come and pay Elsie’s a visit-you will not be disappointed!!!😋😋

Lovely food and amazing cakes!!!

I called into Elsie's for a lunchtime sandwich and pot of tea whilst en route to Lake Vrynwy. What a wonderful little tea room! I ordered a ham salad sandwich which was brought to my table promptly. Delicious proper ham and loads of salad with a lovely pot of tea to accompany it. A wonderful little old fashioned tea room with excellent service.

Called in see what the café had to offer,it is small but we had last seats,very welcoming we only had a coffee but very impressed, the menue looked excellent which was reasonable price, the homemade cakes look lovely cant wait to go back for a meal

We’ve been eating here since it first opened. It’s a must for us when we’re in Shropshire area. The raspberry and white choc scones are THE BEST! My children all look forward to going and the ladies always my us feel so welcome, food is scrumptious, price is good and services is excellent. My only criticism is that it’s 2 1/2 hours away from us :( and we only get to eat here 4/5 a year but other then that it’s prefect :)

Found this lovely little tea rooms via google and so glad we did! Delicious home made pie & mash & Yorkshire pud, Tuna melt panini, pot of tea, cafetière of coffee. Followed by lemon meringue pie and a white chocolate and raspberry scone with cream and raspberry jam. Very good value, lovely friendly staff and wonderful food. Wish it was closer to our home!!

We went for a motorcycle ride and decided to incorporate a lunch stop at Elsie's after doing a search of the area on Google Maps and seeing it on Facebook. It didn't disappoint. It is a small place with just a few tables but excellent quality food and cakes. We will definitely be calling in again when we are in the area.

Stopped her for a spot of lunch on Saturday. Toasties very tasty, Sausage and bacon sandwich enormous and the pie and mash was superb. All cakes homemade and very nice. If you are driving past well worth popping in for something to eat or drink. Staff are very friendly as well and free Wifi.

The staff were friendly and the food was really good. I can highly recommend the coffee and walnut cake. This is a small but very popular place with good reason.

Elsies Tea room is a little gem and so are the staff! A proper tea room. The scone cream tea and Bara Brith we had were fresh and delicious. Lovely interesting vintage porcelain on display. The savoury / lunch menu looked so inviting; pity we had already eaten. so i'll be back with friends and empty tummy next time to try the savoury pies. Thank you Elsies!
