Elmwood Fairways in Fife

After playing a high quality maintained course we stopped in the clubhouse to warm up, quick service by the barmaid who has good banter Soon as we picked up the menu off the table we were greeted straight away to order (good touch) we only wanted to look but ended up ordering. Food served piping hot and the haggis is exactly up to Scottish standard ! Cullen skink, thick fishy and cleaned the plate with our bread Playing again with the intentions of eating straight afterwards !

Not been to Elmwood for a long time and it did not disappoint. Excellent High Tea, ample toast, good choice on menu usual fish, steak pie, macaroni, salad, burger... Good choice of cakes and scone and big pot of tea all for under £12 per person. Excellent value and look forward to returning.

Booked in as a couple for high tea and had a lovely meal. The service was good - fish / steak and ale pie, followed by scone, jam and cream and a cake. The food was really good with the exception of the cake - no choice and of the two put on our table for the two of us I would not have chosen either. Went halves with my husband but left most of both. Having said that what is one cake (or even two halves)? Everything else was well worth the visit and we will probably go again.

Very nice setting with view over golf course. Meals were very good and service very good. It was unfortunate the beers served smelled and tasted of sulphur which was brought to the attention of the barman. Viewed trophy cabinets. Parking.

We stopped by Elmwood Fairways at 2.30 on a Sunday afternoon for high tea only to find out that we were an hour early. We decided just to eat off the normal menu and were not disappointed. The menu is restricted with the 7 or 8 staple dishes you would expect to be served in a golf club but the food is well cooked with reasonable portion sizes. Service was warm and friendly and the Restaurant has a lovely view overlooking the golf course. Well worth a visit.

Could count the amount of chips I got on one hand. I was not allowed to make a complaint to the chef and service was poor.

had been gave a bag of chips, I have more toes than the amount of chips I was served. I have had more blood out of my bum than cheese on the chips.

As a member of EdenFields Golf Club I play at our home course Elmwood on a regular basis so get to sample the various menu choices. Good food, nice clubhouse and dining atmosphere with lovely views over the course, easy parking.

We sometimes have supper at Fairways after a game of golf and we have yet to be disappointed. Staff are always pleasant and the menu is appropriate considering the challenges they must have with unpredictable customers. I had a pleasant hamburger which was suitably garnished. Our meal lived up to expectations.

Was here last night with a group of 8 other ladies. It’s a nice setting looking out on the countryside. I had the prawn cocktail, fish and chips and sticky toffee pudding which was lovely. It does take a while for them to prepare the food but it’s getting cooked fresh so it’s to be expected. Only slight compliant was from the ladies that had the Salmon on the special menu. It was a very small portion and only came with a small amount of potatoes, no other vegetables. They said it was tasty but they could of ate double the portion.

Have been here before but went again - just to check - actually in my view it is the best food around this area - The service was better this time - we all had different things from the varied menu. My cullen skink was incredible with big chunks of fish as was the sandwich with decent tasty cheese/chutney and a side salad with a wonderful dressing which complimented the food. My partner and had a salad that was good enough for her to eat it all. Our family member had the steak pie with chips and she described this as rich and tasty and again she finished it all. Tea and coffee afterwards of very good quality. I would recommend people to visit this restaurant on the edge of Cupar it is excellent food and very good value for money. It is also worth mentioning that the staff are very pleasant and clearly know their trade.

Went for lunch although the dining area is a bit basic, the views are fabulous-service was a little slow but pleasant- food was excellent nice touch were the warmed plates which kept our food hot. Good quality fish cooked how I like it with a very tasty side salad. Decent prices for the food. Would recommend the food. Noticed when at bar how clean the kitchen looked. Always a good sign.

I've been here regularly over last ten years and it's consistently very good. Beautiful setting, very good value and staff always excellent.

We have been going here for years both to eat and to play golf. The food is always good and is well priced and has great views of the surrounding area. Staff are pleasant.

Mi pareja y yo fuimos para el almuerzo aquí con nuestro hijo. Hemos estado muchas veces antes a lo largo de los años y nunca he tenido una mala experiencia. La comida es excelente y el personal siempre es amable. Esta vez pedí el burrito y mi pareja tenía el cordero que estaba en el menú de especialidades. Ambos estaban deliciosos y mi hijo estaba muy contento con su comida para niños. Hasta pronto :).

Been here many times the food standard pub grub but of good quality and well presented and the staff are very good nice relaxed atmosphere with a good view over the golf course and hills beyond

Nice light dining area overlooking elmwood golf course. the food is well cooked and prepared and good value. the catering is by staff and students of Fife College and so has some unexpectedly original concepts. Regualr lunchtime visitor

Popped in with friend for bar lunch. Good value and pleasant service. Breakfast rolls also excellent value.

Do a standard pub meals menu fish and chips steak pie etc.All meals freshly made and we'll presented.Very tasty food and good kids menu.Staff friendly and restaurant very nice.Highly recommend.

We popped in for our dinner on a Saturday recently, we asked if we could sit in the smaller room next to the main restaurant area as the main area was far too warm, we were able to open the windows and fire doors which was a relief. I felt that we were 'out of sight out of mind', we waited 15 minutes before drinks order was taken, another long wait for food order too, our starters came and we were let down, the portions were extremely small. We waited one hour to get our main meal to the table, the quality of the main meal was ok. We then waited an eternity for table to be cleared and also to order more drinks, overall we were left disappointed with the quality of service, I'm certain the girl serving was on her own and it showed! The price was fair but unfortunately staffing level let the restaurant down badly.

Tried Elmwood Fairways for a change and because if was recommended and was pleasantly surprised.Nice surroundings, excellent food and very relaxing.Look forward to going again.

Back again and again excellent!! Had the fish and chips, very fresh and tasty. Great value for great quality food. Kids meals also very good. Service and staff great and friendly. Always a favourite.

Plenty of space for the kids to enjoy themselves. Good menu choices for all ages (3 - 93 in our group!) Helpful pleasant staff. Lovely outlook over the golf course.

Such a lovely place to dine. Lovely view, very friendly staff, and the food is top notch! Always very tasty and beautifully presented, very fresh and really well price! I don't have a clue about golf but still very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Had a meal after golf with friends, the staff were excellent. Had the haggis starter which was very good, although not so sure about the chutney that was served with it (similar to a pate chutney). Followed by the burger which was good, Friends had the steak pie and that looked excellent.The staff were really nice, although a small delay between courses. Would be more than happy to eat here after a round of golf again in future.

I was recommended this place by a colleague & it turned out to be very good. Didn't start well though, we sat down, then got asked to move table (it didn't say reserved), then same happened again... so bad start.But, good quality was great, good service to follow and a lovely venue rescued the review so I've scored it very good & I would return again & recommend it also!

We had a family meal here on Easter Sunday. Large party of nine for the staff to deal with. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of choice for the children and for adults. The food was very tasty. Think all the plates empty! Although slightly off the main road, it's worth the extra drive. Hidden gem!

Sampled my first high tea on a miserable Sunday afternoon. The food was lovely and the staff very attentive.

Visited as part of a 'staff night out'. Only about half a dozen of us but no-one left disappointed. Friendly, attentive staff, reasonably varied menu, well cooked and presented dishes. Good value for money. A little off the beaten track, but close enough to Cupar to make a taxi worth while - allowing everyone to have a drink. Not our first visit, definitely won't be our last!

3 of us went here & had lunch then 18holes of golf, food was excellent & well presented, staff were very friendly & helpful. Golf course in really great condition, not a well known course but was very impressed & will definitely be back

We were a group of 12 and staff coped well with our orders plus other customers. The menu is reasonably varied, with particularly good choice of starters. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the service went at our pace. There aren't many places in Cupar area- actually can't think of any - which can do larger groups and family friendly too. Also it is a lovely setting with large windows overlooking golf course.

Visited Fairways for a family celebration. There was 22 in our party, everyone enjoyed their meal. The only complaint any one had was the time we waited between each course. There was only two young guy's serving and they were both very good, remembered who was having what, not having to ask. Would go back again.

Visited elmwood last week in August 2014 as we had a self-catering bungalow @ craigrothie(athan cottage) we enjoyed all our meals @ elmwood service and staff excellent.will be returning the first week in August 2015 and will certainly leave another review.

Visited for family lunch, lovely view across golf course, staff were polite, menu ranges from soup, sandwiches, burgers, main courses and a good child's menu, food was average, sandwiches were poorly presented on plate and expensive for what you got, good deal would be soup and sandwich.

Finished playing. Golf. Went for. Meal. Large party in main lounge put to a side lounge Ordered. 2. Fish. Chips. 1 gammon steak. 1 steak ale pie The fish. Came out nearly black. Should have sent. Back but person inGroup would pay anything than complain. Sent e mail did not get satisfactory. Answer to this being. Severed up gammon. You could soled your boots the. Chips Dried out oven specials. All left staff asking if it okay if your leaving food is it okay

Went for high tea with my elderly parents and made very welcome. Menu had something for everyone and portions were large. Fresh cream cakes followed the warm scones which were a real surprise. Very good value and served in a bright room overlooking the golf course. Only tiny complaint which is a bit picky is that many of the posters advertising events etc were way out of date. We will definitely be back.

The food is very good and reasonably priced. I have dined here often and never had a 'bad' meal - staff are friendly and atmosphere is welcoming. I meet friends here and we always enjoy our get-togethers. Have also brought family here and they, too, have enjoyed their meal and when asked where they would like to go usually say 'Fairways'

Staff make the restaurant a friendly place to visit. Food is of a high standard and the service is quick and professional.

This restauarant is staffed by students and supervisors of Elmwood College in Cupar - it is to some extent a training restaurant - and offers an attractive menu and a good standard of catering at reasonable prices. It is very well situated in the clubhouse of Elmwood Golf Course, which is also managed by the College ; the dining areas are very bright and pleasant and the views over the golf course and beyond are excellent. Recommended.

Locally, it is one of the few places where food is served all day. Standard of food is always reliable and lovely setting overlooking golf course. Service is always excellent.

This is a great location and thoroughly recommend. Staff excellent and food well above average To be hypercritical salad garnish was rather overdone, lettuce a pile of cress one halved cherry tomato, no cucumber or peppers. Overall rate this very highly and will revisit.

We ate here last week and had forgotten how lovely it is to sit and admire the view whilst having a meal. The food is well prepared and enjoyable and the service is attentive and pleasant. The restaurant area was full with a private party but we had a very comfortable table in the bar area The breaded haddock was freshly prepared and moist and the club burger was very good but served on a morning roll rather than the floured bap I suspect they had run out, the burger was much smaller than in previous visits but still very enjoyable. A good selection of desserts are also on offer. As we had walked out we enjoyed a lunchtime drink also. Very good quality and value @ £43 for two main courses and desserts including four drinks tea and a coffee we shall certainly return again in the summer.

Husband is a member of the golf course but we sometimes drop into the restaurant for lunch. Windows look out on the greens so its quite relaxing. Food is fresh and good and has good veggie choice( not goats cheese )

the restaurant was quite busy but they seated us quickly without a booking,the service was very good and the food was good for what it was,it is not fancy but was nicely presented and could not fault it for the price,i did have an issue with paying 20% more than members,which i have not come across before.a pleasant meal was had

A nice course with well thought out landscaping and a driving range to boot. Well priced and good clubhouse serving lovely food. Nice walks available around the course which gives the local community access as well

I met up with 4 friends here after a number of years of us all going our own ways. The service was excellent along with the food and scenic views over the golf course. Some of us do not like all that comes with the various presentations but they were more than happy to leave them off the plate to allow us to enjoy the meal without having to pick things off. We have met up again here and plan to make this rendezvous a regular habit.

Returned here on 1st June for family lunch . Sun was shining, restaurant was very busy and staff very welcoming. There were 6 of us and we all chose something different although not deliberately i must add.As per previous visit the food and service was very good. Food didn't take long to arrive and everyone had clean plates. Some of us had starters, others sweets. Good varied selection on offer. Good atmosphere between the lounge and smaller restaurant and views are stunning. Golf course was very busy but car park still had a few spaces left.Staff are very friendly here and nothing seems to much trouble even though they were busy.Look forward to coming back as its always a treat to visit.

Pretty standard golf club menu, portions were not exactly large. We didn't see any presentation that resembled their website pictures. The food was acceptable & reasonably priced, but the "specials" for mains were all vegetarian. The waiter & waitress were very pleasant & did make us feel welcome, but the food on offer could have been more inviting.

Been here a few times now and have had some good meals, but be aware it is a seasonal restaurant, only open fully during the golf season, March onwards. The menu this time was varied if not a little limited however the Cullen Skink is very nice, I had the Haggis fritters with caramelized onions which came a little over fried (the haggis that is) 3 of the 4 of us had the sirloin steak which came smothered in a peppercorn sauce, I would have preferred to have the choice of whether to have the sauce or not. The drinks order and service to take the food orders was quick however the food took a little too long to arrive, as the previous reviewer stated at the end of the meal I had mixed feelings but it is entertaining watching the golfers finishing the last hole and the scenery is easy on the eye, I would advise you to give this place a go if you are not in a rush.

My wife and I had lunch here today but by the end had mixed feelings about the experience. Our initial expectations were quite high due to the good reviews on here.First impressions......were very good, tidy car park, nice clubhouse, and very bright and clean restaurant, which overlooks the golf course and hills beyond. The building is split into two rooms, one next to the bar catering for golfers, and another more for diners. Perhaps 10 tables in the restaurant.Meet and greet....initially not approached by waiting staff, so we went to the bar and asked for a table for two. The barmaid called over the waiter and asked if a table for two was available. We seemed to be lucky, and got the last one, even though there were many empty tables without reservation tags.....we were then shown to our table, menus given, and drinks order taken. Neither specials or soup of the day were explained.Menu....was very interesting, and varied, with typical and atypical pub grub. We chose the potato and leek soup and the cullen skink to start followed by a plate of cold cuts, and a chilli topped burger. Sandwiches were also available.Service.....on the slow side. The restaurant was busy at the start, but tables remained uncleared for too long. The drinks orders were dealt with quickly, but the food seemed to take a while to be processed.Food...was nice enough, everything was hot, and the soups were tasty. The burger for me was the highlight, but the chips were on the dry side. Portion size, was large.Value....very good, 4 drinks and 4 courses for £27.Overall....mixed feelings, I feel let down by the service, so I would not want to return, but my wife would.

Went for Sunday High Tea. Food and service was outstanding yet again. There was toast to start then a good choice of a main course followed by tea or coffee and not forgetting the delicious fresh scones and cream cakes - yummy

What a relaxing place to eat, wonderful views and the food, it really was difficulty to choose from the classics to the little more exotic, the blackened cajon chicken with spring onion mash and bbq sauce was delicious. The staff are very attentive and watch what is going on as my glass of wine was just about finished I did not have to ask for another the very friendly and attentive waitress was on the case. Well worth a visit

Visited here for my Birthday with family. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. A member of my family is extremely fussy and often moans where ever we go but all I heard from him was praises about how good the food was! We will definitely visit again

Uncrowded even when busy. Food well prepared and good portion size. Friendly, efficient staff. We were there as a group of 18 with very varied tastes but everyone enjoyed their meal.

Never knew about this place until in the passing. Stopped off for lunch and would definitely recommend. Food was very good, service was very smooth, friendly and quick. Only annoyance were 2 out of control children next to us.Views are great of the golf course and look forward to going back.

Consistently good, been there plenty for a number of years. Nice views, menu changes periodically with creative dishes that taste great. Good for kids, staff friendly. Excellent choice for relaxed, local middle of the road dining.

Always visit when in the area ,food excellent with many choices ,the staff are freindly ,you can sit back and enjoy the scenery a great place to eat

Food was fantastic a wee bit of a delay to begin with but when food arrived could not fault it.

Don't expect anything flash from this dinning experience and you wont be disappointed. The food was not bad and good value. We had a great view of the golf course with Cults as a back drop. Service was prompt and friendly.

Great outlook overlooking the fairways, open and roomy dining area. Wide range of food from snacks to full meals.

Give this restaurant a go I think you will be surprised by the quality and standard of the food and service. The veiw from the window is one of the best in Fife, if you are a Golfer you might be able to have a quick round and relax and discuss the one that got away. I have always enjoyed my visit to Elmwood Fairways. It can lack a little atmosphere when not very busy, but in the longer evenings of the summer its worth going to see the rabbits and relax over a meal and a few drinks
