The food quality in this cafe never fails to amaze us. Beautifully cooked breakfast, good quality produce, always a smile and the quickest best service I've ever come across. It's always like a family coming in here! Always a pleasure

We stumbled across Elmer’s whilst visiting some local charity shops on the same strip. We were greeted with a very warm welcome. We ordered our food at the counter and was told our food would be 10 minutes. We set down and within 3 minutes we had a delicious hot laté. A few minutes after we were served our delicious breakfast, served on a hot plate. The breakfast and service was 10/10 We will definitely be back here again and again. 5 stars

We walked 3 miles this morning to have breakfast here and wow was it worth it. Staff were friendly, the food was beautiful, hot, perfectly cooked, served with a smile. Great coffee too.

Great place for a good old fashioned breakfast. Standard catering sausages but everything else was very good. Staff were really attentive and made us feel very welcome

Travelled about 5 miles to get to this café and it was well worth it £5.95 for a large breakfast comes with a tea. Unbelievable Price,breakfast was boiling hot, not like most coffees. Definitely recommend it to my mates🎅

Just right for a breakfast. Lots of choice, good wholesome food and very reasonable prices. Hospitality and service was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Elmer's isn't fancy - it's an old fashioned cafe that serves simple food in good portion size. If you are looking for somewhere to fill up after a night out - look no further!!

Great value and delicious Sunday lunch .. a full plate of tasty food .. the lamb was very tender .. such good value at £8 .. the cafe was very busy but the lunch was worth the wait .. I will return !!

Fantastic little gem, great value for money and extremely nice staff and regular customers. Group of 8 of us turned up and they were all very accommodating. We had a great value double breakfast for £5.95 which came with toast and a drink...bargain. they also do what looked to be a lovely roast dinner for £8, well worth checking out. A1

Elmer’s has been a firm favourite of mine for years, I’ll always keep returning, it is definitely the nicest cooked breakfast in Cardiff but also the cheapest, it’s a traditional fry up, always piping hot and plenty of it. I’m yet to try anything else on the menu because every time I visit I’m so tempted to go with what I know I love, the breakfast! 10/10 from me! Definitely give this place a try if you’re looking for outstanding service and food!

A really friendly place to have great food

Brilliant old fashioned down to earth cafe. Unbelievable value breakfast with great quality ingredients. Friendly staff and owner really interested in our visit to Cardiff and offering advice on places for us to visit. We were even given an extra free sausage because I said how much I’d enjoyed them. If you want a warm welcome and a hearty full Welsh breakfast at a very low price in Cardiff, Elmer’s is the only place.

First time to visit Elmers and I doubt if its the last! Breakfast with our daughter and grandsons. No problem to oblige my grandson with his requests to adjust his breakfast. Served quickly and efficiently and hot. Conversation with the staff was friendly and they certainly made you feel welcome. Great breakfast at a very realistic price. We will be back!

Haven't been in a while, but, if I was to recommend a cafe to anyone in Cardiff this would be it, never disappoints.

We frequent a local restaurant for breakfast here at home and were delighted to discover Elmer's Take a Break Cafe in Cardiff. We loved it so much we went there four days in a row. The breakfasts are hearty, delicious and the people running Elmer's are awesome. If you're looking for ambiance, this isn't it. Go to Elmer's prepared for a wonderful meal served hot, quick and inexpensively. Great coffee too!

I use Elmers regularly when in the area. The food and service are excellent and the value for money is very hard to beat. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Stopped for breakfast after staying the night in Cardiff. Can't complain at the prices, maybe even cheaper than a Weatherspoon's. Quality was okay, bacon on the saltier side, meat content of the sausages questionable - but for the price to be expected. It got extremely busy shortly after we arrived, this seemed to overwhelm the staff.. one being particularly rude to another group in the restaurant. One of our group also had a hair in the coffee but they replaced with no fuss - accidents happen. Would return if I was in the area.

I love Elmer's, the staff are lovely, the food is good value and cheerful. The breakfast is the best, the Sunday lunch is pretty good too and you can't go wrong with the chicken curry (with half and half).

Honestly couldn't fault this place. The food and the staff are amazing possibly the best Cafe I have ever been too. Keep up the good work guys.

The value of Elmer’s is unmatched in the area, staff are all lovely and I have many fond memories of breakfasts here. The food is of genuinely good quality and they are not too shy with portions. It gets really busy at times, but this is only because it is such a good, unpretentious place.

"So shines a good deed in a weary world" What a fantastic place which is a blast from a beautiful past generation - there are not many places where you can have a full english and a cup of tea or milky coffee for £5! The family run business deserve a pat on the back for the fact they are there to feed and support their community by keeping food and drinks at at affordable price - super friendly and caring. You always see a lot of loyal regulars - the father, mother and son team are amazing. You could go to the juno lounge and pay £13 for a luke warm breakfast or go straight to Elmer's where the food is always hot right up until the last morsel going down your throat. They do a cracking roast diner which i haven't tried yet - but its definitely  try next! Keep up the good work and please don't change.

What a gorgeous little gem in the capitol of Wales! If you're looking for a good old full breakfast, then Elmers is the place to go! We were on a road trip across the country, and in need of some well-earned fuel before setting off back up north. Finding this delightful cafe just round the corner, we decided to follow our noses and were plentifully rewarded for doing so! The menu at Elmers covers the classic breakfast options, with sandwiches and full plates on offer, as well as several other meals that can cater for other appetites, including pies and roasts. Through the main cafe is an additional seating area, though we stayed in the main shop. Staff are friendly and courteous, working to making everything as delicious as possible. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, we shall certainly be sure to pop in when in Wales next time!

I don't usually leave reviews but this place needs one ... IV noticed that it's a 5+ trip advisor recommended..I have visited this cafe about three times each time I have visited the service is appalling!! IV been for cooked breakfast once it had all been fried twice,, but cooked dinners on a Sunday is atrocious twice IV been IV waited 20 mins for cupa tea then then a further 50 mins for an order that they had wrong they is no communication with the staff the right hand don't know what the left hands doing once bitten twice shy so to say I will not be returning and I really do think this cafe should have a review on the Rating and putting it on the Trip Advisor what a shambles of a cafe !! As I'd love to see what goes on in the kitchen 🙈🙈😡😡 it needs downgrading to a one star.

Cardiff's best breakfast place, I'm lucky to have such a great and affordable breakfast next to my student house. I used to pack one for lunch when I was writing my dissertation. The staff are very kind and the quality of the breakfast is very good.
