Elm Masala in Havant

Just had my first take away. Absolutely superb wonderful tikka starters and madras and garlic nan. Quick delivery very friendly and so tasty. We'll done guys ill be back

We had a lovely meal at the Elm Masala. Attentive and friendly staff. All the meals ordered were excellent. Will definitely be returning soon.

More like a takeaway place with some seating, the tables and the menus could be less sticky. The curries were great, served quickly too but salad had hairs in it

Been coming to this restaurant, for sit in dinner and takeout for over 10 years. Have tried others on Hayling but ALWAYS go back. The food is GORGEOUS, the staff are friendly and very attentive. Wouldn’t go anywhere else now. We even travel from home (near Heathrow) to eat now too. Xxx

We had a takeaway which was delivered free. Great service, fair prices and superb food. If I had one criticism, the dhall was a little thin, but still tasted great. Definitely one to return to.

Best Curry on the south coast & Great value for money! We’ve been coming to the Elm Masala for years and only finally getting round to a review. Fantastic curry, better service and great value for money. Everyone must try.

I have been going to Elm masala for over 13 years and still find the service and foods exceptional. They are very friendly, professional and always make sure eveyrthing is OK and you are satisfied. The food is top quality and by far the best on Hayling. I would highly recommend to anyone.

I'm very keen on food and from my previous experience from other restaurants like Elm, they seem to miss a certain touch of flavour and spice. But that's my likes on my taste buds. If you what to know what I have experienced, ask me where I eat for this type of food🤤.

Decided to visit this evening whilst visiting Hayling Island. Choose it as it is part of the Meerkat list of restaurants and so pleased we did. A thoroughly enjoyable meal in a relaxed atmosphere with very friendly staff. The food was excellent with a wide range of dishes available. We also appreciated the mints and complimentary liqueurs at the end. Will definitely visit again next time we are on the Island.

Best curry house on the island by far

After a long absence we were warmly welcomed by all staff as well as the proprietor. We have recently enjoyed two super meals. Whilst the Balti might not be totally authentic/traditional it Is nonetheless delicious. My husband keeps waxing lyrical about his Bengali Chilli Chilli Chicken. Lovely egg rice and really good nan. Recommend.

Possibly the most impressive Indian takeaway I've found and I've been to several over the years. Great quality, generous portion sizes and friendly service. Freebies when you spend over £10 and collect with cash. You can order via the website and pay with cash or call to pay by card. Local delivery available. The best Indian on Hayling Island for sure. Look forward to eating in there at some point as have only been in to wait for a takeaway and it looks clean and tidy in the restaurant area. Wheelchair accessible. Tables adequately spaced and comfortable chairs.

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant. My husband had Chicken Biryani and I had Khochi massala. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant from start to finish. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and they do takeaway too.

Another lovely meal from Elm Masala. My son has a peanut allergy which we informed them of & they contacted us to go through the ingredients in the curry. Excellent customer service & again the food was delicious.

The sauces from here are generally very good and the chicken is above average for this genre of takeaway. The rice is not very good in my opinion. Small containers of poor quality rice are unnecessary as rice is crazy cheap to buy and make.

I'm giving a 5 service was great , food was pretty authentic, and price was reasonable.

Tastiest Indian around. Real flavours. I had the coriander chicken which I thoroughly recommend if you like tasty food but not spicy hot. Plenty of chicken and prompt takeaway service.

Had our first takeaway since lockdown on Tuesday, the curries were excellent and the delivery service really good, the meals arrived on time. I had the Bengal chili chilli chicken and it was delicious. Thanks to all the staff there.

Me and the misses ordered from here tonight on are way to hayling island beach and it was lovely food we will definitely be back and highly recommended

This has become one of our regular 'pay-day treats' .... we use the excellent take-away service as well from time to time, but eating in is especially relaxing and enjoyable. We live within walking distance so it's nice to wander round and eat/drink/chatter without worrying about driving home after. There is a car park round the back of this restaurant with a pathway through (St Marys Rd) if you need to drive. It's not a huge restaurant but we've never not been able to get a table even on weekends; the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Nice clean facilities.The menu is extensive and the staff very friendly and happy to advise on ingredients, spiciness etc. My favourite is anything with lamb in it and this is always tender and beautifully cooked ... hubby is a little more adventurous in his choices and tries something different every time we go ... he often goes for one of the chefs special choices and has yet to be anything other then completely happy with what he has. They finish off your meal with those lovely hot flannels for wiping hands and a complimentary little drink ... what's not to like?We won't be looking for another indian restaurant anytime soon so I guess that's recommendation enough ...

Second visit, first was superb ! Menu has variety with interesting combinations. My husband likes spicy food, on first visit he enjoyed a very spicy dish and yes for him it was ! I usually have the standard Chicken Tikka Mossala but on both occasions I tried different dishes, absolutely delicious!Also for us having just moved to Hayling Island after 29 years in USA this small restaurant is just a few minutes walk from our home. Very happy

The best chicken tikka masala I have ever had ...quick delivery, big tender chunks of chicken...and delivered to van at park dean...highly tecommend

These days, most Indian restaurants are good in terms of food quality, and they have to have something special to differentiate them from the rest. This one did not. There was nothing wrong with it, and clearly, for some people it has a lot going for it, since it was recommended to me as the best on Hayling Island, but for me, there was nothing stand out about it

Generous portions and nice touch with the free bhajis and extra papadoms We are visiting Hayling from Birmingham and Elm Masala is up there with best we've eaten !Nan is a very discerning customer and she's smiling

I was a 'Gandhi Tandoori goer' for 20 odd years, however Elm Masala has definitely become my defacto go-to place for a good quality, no repercussions, curry on Hayling. Great place to eat in, or take out.

Enjoyed a lovely vegetarian meal with excellent service and at a reasonable price. Would definitely go again. Pleasant vibe.

Always a good takeaway and friendly service

I was impressed with the flavours of the meal I ordered. Staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small but nicely decorated. What I felt let it down was that the room felt cold. Granted I went early but it should have been warmer.

I always use trip advisor to look for nice places to stay and eat. If this is the best on the island I hate to think what the worst is! Poor flavours, spice and quality in the jalfrezi and even worse in the seafood dish. My advice? Get a microwave meal!

My partner and I visited this restaurant this evening. It’s small with a few tables, nice ambience and the food was good. Pleasant staff as well. Would definitely go again.

Great delivery time.Biriani was lovely,Chicken Korma alot of sauce but not enough chicken,onion bhargi over cooked and no soft filling.

We were passing through and decided on a local curry instead of eating at our hotel. We had a korma and a Jeffrey and they were both good and reasonably priced. The young lady serving us was very pleasant and friendly. Recommended.

we have six Indian restaurants on Hayling and the Elm Masala is by far the best, the food is outstanding and if you want it hotter or milder they will adjust it to your requirements,

a medium sized restaurant , with a good variety of choices on the menu , we were not familar with some of the meals offered and the waiter was extremely helping us choose , who also offered the choice according to our preference of making the meal spicier or less spicier .

Una comida vegetariana para uno! Me sorprendió lo rápido este llevar llegamos. Me recibió en la puerta por un hombre de entrega muy contentos. Los platos eran muy caliente y fresco. Estoy muy fastidioso y normalmente no como tiendas, que es la razón por la que ellos rara vez. Sin embargo, estoy tomando la molestia de revisar esta porque superó mis expectativas. Era tan fresco y sabroso y de muy buena calidad. Había mucho espacio en la placa. El nan de ajo estaba muy bien ligera y sabrosa. Una deliciosa comida vegetariana para uno y no dejar tanto tiempo la próxima vez. Sin duda ellos destinados a complacer y contento que estaba.

The Elm Masala is one of two adjoining ‘Indian’ establishments on Elm Grove and one of five in the area, the others being the Jeera takeaway next door, the Bay of Bengal, the Moghul and the Gandhi.When the Elm Masala first opened some years ago it had tried to distinguish itself from the other subcontinental curry houses by off erring ‘Asian Fusion’ dishes which, whilst briefly very popular, could not compete with the demand for mainstream ‘Indian’ cuisine and so transformed itself, with a change of ownership, into a standard takeaway, but also converted into a restaurant, with table service.In order to standardise my reviews of Indian food and therefore be able to compare restaurants and takeaways, I have a personal set menu:Onion Bhaji with yoghurt mint sauceChicken Tikka Dhansak with pilau rice - chosen so that the quality of their dhal could be tested, as well as their tandoor cookingAloo gobi - chosen to test the quality of their vegetable cookingGarlic naan and onion saladReviewThe onion bhajis, three to a portion, were flat and not exceptional, the sauce standardThe Dhansak differed from the average, being mild to medium in strength, the dhal content in the sauce not especially evident and was quite herby, but satisfyingly tasty. The chicken was tender and delicious. The pilau rice was just right. The highlight was the wonderfully fresh taste of the cauliflower and potato dish, both vegetables cooked to perfection, although the sauce was not special.The naan was round, well cooked, soft and tasty. The onion salad was one of the best I’ve ever had!So, all in all, pretty good and to be recommended

The food was throne onto the plate it was only luke warm my wife could not eat hers so we did not pay for it and I ended up sitting on the loo for 2 days don't touch it with a barge pole

Booked on line before we stayed in near by langstone hotel. Was not dissopointed . First there is a large free car park just behind. Owner was so nice and friendly . Food was delicious. Money off the bill if you have a taste card. Bonus.

Fist time to visit this Indian restaurant and eat their food. Not our normal Indian on the Island. From now on it will be. Great food and friendly staff. Good to eat in or order a takeaway from. Highly recommended.

This was a buffet night and was packed. Even so we were well taken care of and room was made for us to enjoy the evening. Buffet had a good selection of dishes and apparently every week there are different options. Plenty of good food - help yourself. Serving dishes were kept full and food was fresh and hot. Service was satisfactory and would have been amazing had they not had soooo many people there. Reservation is better than adhoc drop in. absolutely a must and I will definitely be going back there. Fair price too - £9,95/head fill your boots.

Elm Masala was empty apart from our party of four, but it was a Wednesday evening! the service was attentive without being intrusive, the food came in a timely fashion and was really delicious. The wine (merlot) was very good but only two beers, Cobra or Kingfisher were on offer. There was little atmosphere but that is not surprising, a rainy Wednesday evening on Hayling Island doesn't exactly rock! However we had a very enjoyable meal and I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Really nice vegetarian meals, great online menu. Would be great if we could pay online. Would have got full stars if we could pay by card or Paypal on line and save having to call up to pay. Lovely food!

1st time of trying this place since we moved to the local area. It was very pleasant hot and plentiful. Staff excellent, most impressed.

While on holiday on Hayling Island we ordered an Indian takeaway from Elm Masala. While they do deliver for free we collected it ourselves and had a drink from the bar while we waited. It was really lovely. The quality of the food was indeed one of the best we have ever had and we have Indian food regularly. Excellent value for money! We will definately return.

Ordered a whole Tandoori chicken as takeaway and received 4 legs instead. I've never seen a chicken with 4 legs so I'm not quite sure how that constitutes a whole chicken. We also ordered a Biriyani dish, which looked and tasted like it was cooked a couple of days ago. It's a real shame, because the Elm Masala used to be the best Indian takeaway on Hayling Island.
