Great little bakery. They did give me a whole wheat croissant when i didnt ask for it though. Good spot.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming cafe and restaurant located in downtown, conveniently situated across from the theater. The staff at Ellie’s is what makes this place. Every single employee was super nice, friendly, and professional. Order the spicy Bloody Mary. You will not be disappointed.

I came on a Saturday, and it was quite busy. There was a sign posted that instructed people to order at the counter before sitting but was annoyed to see I was essentially the only one following the rules and people just strolled in and put their coats over chairs before getting in line. Also, the music sucked. Just kinda bland techno you could barely hear. All would be forgiven for a great croissant…but it ain’t here pal. I’ve lived in Paris and know a good croissant, and I seek them out. This one was flavorless, the layers not flakey but crumbly, and perhaps even over-baked. It was just a sad cold piece of bread. The customers are what you would expect. 95% of them were white women taking 8 pictures of their coffee for no one. The staff is very nice. The cortado was ok. I just left feeling like I had a meaningless experience.

Nice, spacious café in downtown Providence right across from PPAC with plenty of drinks, pastries, and other food options. The space is nice, but the layout is a bit clustered with a big pillar in the middle and it can get quite busy, making it feel hectic. They are known for their cakes and pastries, though, which I definitely agree are the highlight of their menu. They also offer baking classes, although they are quite pricey. Outside of the sweets, I’m a bit less impressed with their offerings. Food and coffee is good, but there are other options nearby that are cheaper and, in my opinion, better. I will say the presentation at Ellie’s is always great if you’re dining in, so if you’re into the aesthetic of your meal or coffee you’ll enjoy it.

Very happy to have finally tried Ellies. Very sad that I finally tried it on my last week living in providence. Don't sleep on this spot!

Amazing service! We ordered Christmas cookies and did pick them up before closing (totally our fault).They delivered the cookies to our house because “we didn’t want you to not have cookies on Christmas Eve”. Very much appreciate!

Limited menu, but the food was excellent. I split a breakfast sandwich with added avocado and pork belly sandwich. They were both very good.

Ellie's is a beautiful cafe with food to match. I regularly get to go pastries and they are always top notch and incredible. Not only is it beautiful is delicious. The staff knows me by name and is always lovely, kind and takes their time with each customer no matter the line. I love it here!

The best breakfast sandwich I ever had! Good cappuccino and good french croissant! Pastries look so good, but unfortunately we couldn't try it all 🤭. Workers here are really kind and friendly. Update: 4 months later still as good as I remember! Breakfast Sandwich with sausage is so good that it remains our first choice. I loved this time tumeric tonic as well!

Ellie's is a gem in Downtown Providence. Attentive and enthusiastic service, exemplary food and drink (particular props to the breakfast sandwich and the pork belly sandwich for lunchtime), comfortable and unstuffy atmosphere. I make a pilgrimage every time I visit Providence.

I hosted my daughter’s bridal shower yesterday. It was perfect! It was exactly what I envisioned. The ambiance was intimate and peaceful. The food was delicious and so flavorful. The cake and cookies were yummy. The service was right on point including the bartender. And I cannot forget the event coordinator, Stephanie. She didn’t miss one thing and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely evening filled with love.

If they have it, the turkey soup is insane i think about it often.

Not only was Stephanie from Ellie's a joy to work with, but her level of professionalism, kindness and the generosity of her staff surpassed our expectations!! What a wonderful experience!!! Their finishing touches made our event that much more special!

had a lovely afternoon matcha here. monkey bread was also delectable. and not too pricey given the feeling of casual luxury here, with beautiful yet homey interior and fancy cakes. the staff were absolutely lovely and even though it closes at 3pm, there was no rush to leave. highly recommend for a coffee, pastry or brunch

I would give 10 stars if I could. It was my son’s birthday and I called the same day asking for a cake to be delivered in his university dorm. Samara answered my call and despite they don’t have a delivery service, she was so nice that she went there herself and delivered the cake. And, according to my son, it was delicious! Samara went above and beyond to help me. It was such a special gesture!

Everything I hade here was phenomenal!! Especially their Harvest Vegetable soup. It was life changing. Can’t wait to go back!

Super cute and creative menu items that were really fun to explore when we stopped here on a whim one day. They were really accommodating to my friend’s dietary restrictions and allergies (and my food preferences). And the baristas were more than happy to chat with us and make us honest recommendations about what menu items were the best to try out. A little overpriced for the portions you get, but the experience was so nice that I feel like it balanced out

We placed a large catering order for our all hands retreat and Ellie's hit it out of the park! They made the ordering process super easy (and we had alot of changes) and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend!

This is a review of their private events - we had our wedding weekend Sunday brunch at Ellie's and it was the absolute best choice! The food was incredible, as usual, but Stephanie and the team did an incredible job orchestrating the event, making personalized adorable signs for us, helping us come up with the menu, and serving/clearly labelling foods for guests with dietary restrictions. Highly recommend them for any private events!

We had a brilliant pastie and tea here. What caught my eye was that the pasties in the window were modestly described as “Standard” pasties. Every other pastie in Tavistock is “superlative” or “artisan” or “the best”. It was delicious: freshly baked, generously filled and with lovely flaky pastry. Kudos too to the wonderful woman who served us. She was quick and efficient, cheerful and really helpful: she cut our pastie in two and put the halves in separate bags for us to share.

We were beyond thrilled with the food and service catered by Ellie’s for our bridal Hen Do. The food was abundant and delicious. Ellie’s accommodated our park shelter seamlessly. Their team exceeded expectations. Do not hesitant if you are considering Ellie’s for any occasion.

nice place, had a very good sandwich. Some of the fries were cold, but what weren't were wonderfully seasoned.

We had the seasonal brown butter iced latte and a heavenly almond croissant. Lovely seats outside! Will be back for sure!

Amazing bakery in a great part of Providence

The cakes here are fantastic !!!! as well as the service.....I am a repeat customer an enjoy coming here.

Decent coffee but the lattes or coffee does not stand out much, it’s just ok. Their breakfast sandwich was NOT worth the price, looks and taste like a McDonald’s McMuffin sandwich. Overall, while the atmosphere was good, the food does not live up to the price we paid for.

The food was amazing, I was in shock at the service, the staff were unbelievably rude. We spent over a $100 on food and we were not even done eating and drinking our lattes when some rude worker came up to us asking for us to leave our table when we were only there for around 25 minutes, in the middle of eating. Then the same thing occurred to a tables around us. The restaurant owner needs to rehire and reconsider their staffing and the type of people they are hiring to represent their restaurant. I will not be back and multiple other people said the same due to the rudeness of the staff. Very disappointed in the service. I wish I could give negative stars for service.

Wayyyyy over priced for the product that you’re getting

We ordered 15 cupcakes for a party, the cakes did look nice, but the taste was terrible, they were so dry and completely tasteless - the only way people described them was that they tasted like they’d been sitting in a cardboard box for atleast a week. Even the smarties on top were soft and stale tasting. We had children at the party, not even they could finish the cakes. We definitely won’t be back, and wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Such a shame for a local bakery.

My family and I really love this cafe. It's a beautiful place to go to, amongst the bustle of Providence. Their seating, atmosphere, service, and food are amazing. Croissants with butter and jam is the best thing they serve. Coffee is a bit on the sour side but still good. My one critique though, I think they changed the ingredients for their croissants. Last time I tasted it, it tasted like whole wheat, which doesn't taste as good. I'm curious to know if y'all changed the recipe, and if you could maybe change it back haha. Also, the quiche could use some work, the side salad is the best thing about the dish, but the quiche not so much. The piece was small and the flavor was bland. But other than that, amazing cafe to go to with friends and family. Better than seven stars 100 percent

Went to the Bakery in Oakhampton. What a disappointment- the display of pastries and cakes looked very tasty. However we where disappointed. We had sausage rolls, pasty’s and cookies. The pasty was burnt and black on the bottom, so where the cookies. The sausage rolls had no taste at all. Didn’t help that they are warmed in a microwave so the sausage rolls and pasty’s where soggy. Felt it was a waste of money and very poor food. Staff where very friendly but that was the only plus points of the bakery!!

On a beautiful sunny morning or a rainy day, this is a great place to relax with a coffee. Sit at the bar for personal service. A must do if you are staying in downtown PVD. Bon Appetit!

Macaroons were the best! Many unusual flavors. Light. Chewy. Got to have to complete your day. The apple berry tea was more apple and less berry.

Food and pastries were great but the iced chai was awful. How you got all this freshness but sell pre-made carton chai. For those wondering the chai is like Starbucks/Panera Bread not like Cafe La France/ Coffee Connection (who actually make there chais). With these prices atleast do better with the chais.

Best macarons & Almond Meringues in RI. It's a must try in Providence. Breads and cakes are delicious too!

The sandwiches are indeed overpriced. Milk options for coffee only include whole milk, almond, or oat, and there is an upcharge for almond or oat, so if you're looking for a reduced fat option, plan on paying extra.

They have plenty of tables and seats and a Restroom. I love it here but the chicken sandwich wasn’t my style. My boyfriend loved it so that’s my own fault but it was like very difficult to eat. Pretty tho.

tldr- amazing breakfast/lunch spot with equally beautiful ambiance and food! What a fantastic gem of a place. We wandered in on a snowy Sunday afternoon for some tea, and staying for a delicious brunch/lunch. We tried the famous roasted pork belly sandwich with pepper jelly, spicy mayo, broccoli rabe and crispy provolone cheese! We also tried a wonderful French toast special. Ellie’s is a Providence must. They have an incredible selection of pastries, teas, coffees and breakfast sandwiches. The space is well ventilated and feels like a spacious Parisienne bakery! The staff are warm and friendly, and they took my food allergies super seriously. Best for: - Day Dates - Friend Catch UPS - Pretending to “travel” to Paris during a pandemic

I highly recommend going to Ellie's if you are in need of a wedding cake. Stephanie was an absolute pleasure to work with, from the initial contact all the way up until the day of. She made the most *beautiful* cake for my event, and it was so delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

A really lovely place to grab breakfast! They were one of the few places open during Thanksgiving, and everything about the place was awesome - the food, the service, the ambience. We ordered their signature breakfast sandwich which was fabulous, and their monkey cake and earl grey tea were excellent too! We got our food super quickly, and the staff were exceptionally cheery and caring. Overall, a wonderful time.

Ellie’s in Providence was such a joy to work with. Stephanie handles all the wedding cakes and she was very responsive and informative. One of the most fun times while planning a wedding is the cake tasting and when my husband and I went in it was such a great experience! They had a table in their restaurant set up and had these beautiful mini cakes lined up in the flavors we picked. They offered us coffee and mimosas to compliment our tasting. Each and every cake was to die for, it made it hard to pick. They were actually all that good that we chose two different flavors! Besides the flavor the decorating was gorgeous, I brought inspiration pictures and they executed perfectly. The cake was a great centerpiece in our ballroom. My family and I will only be ordering our cakes from Ellie’s from now on- I suggest you do too!

It's styled as a French bistro with a wonderful outside seating area right across from Providence theatre. Hands down best brunch in town with delicious Mimosas and Blood Marys. The poutine with duck confit is delicious.

Visiting Providence my husband and I enjoyed a delicious and healthy lunch and I had a light breakfast of tea and excellent croissant. Chunky lentil soup with carrots, mushrooms, and bits of bacon. Kale salad with crispy chick peas and shaved carrots - we switched dressings to a perfect champagne vinaigrette. Chocolatey chocolate bouchon. Friendly staff- cute design, inside or outside.

The people here were SO NICE!! The coffee was great and the place was cute but I was most impressed by the service and friendliness of the people working there. Will come back here

A group of us came here for brunch to eat what appears to be the only salad in Providence. The kale Cesar was absolutely perfect, and the pastries and coffee were good. We did wait for an order that was forgotten, and when I ordered an egg on the side for my salad, it was $6.48, and was forgotten. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but ask how much add-ons are, and don't come here in a rush!

Went on the Rhode Island Red Food tour with Lanie and stopped here for a pastry! Not only was the food amazing, but Lanie was very informative!

Excellent coffee, lovely staff. The pork belly sandwich was rich in flavor, as was the poutine. We also got the ham sandwich (can't remember what it's called but it's one of the cold ones), and that one I didn't really get. Quality ingredients, but a little lacking in balance, with extreme tartness coming from the mustard and not anything else to combat it. I'm giving them a little pass because they were out of croissants, and I think the butteriness of a croissant could help. We also enjoyed everything else we got there immensely, so still 5 stars. 4.5 would be more accurate, but I'm rounding up instead of down.

Honestly unimpressed. Staff was super friendly but they gave the wrong coffee and instead of making a new one they just said that they made the right thing but could add more caramel flavor to it. The did offer macarons as a "sorry" but I could not drink my coffee and my sisters mocha, just had chocolate shavings so it was lumpy. Super nice people and atmosphere just don't know if I'd return... Especially not for coffee

MUST Visit when in Providence. I love the natural jam filling and cake texture—great balance of flavour, sugar and cake sponge.

Insanely overpriced mediocre restaurant that tries to present itself as a fine dining experience. Waited 30 minutes for a small fried chicken sandwich that cost me $18. The cake was $7 and not only was it a tiny piece, a large piece was broken off and it was basically only two bites. Coffee was below average at best. Staff was too busy to really be attentive. Plenty of other places around that are far cheaper and better.

Absolutely lovely place to have a breakfast, take a little break and enjoy your coffee. Staff is extremely nice and polite. Everything is delicious, non dairy options available, fresh hot pastries etc. We ordered lots of stuff, turned out one thing was out of stock and we were offered a free replacement. Extremely happy with the experience.

A walk around Tavistock seeing all the brands selling pasties for crazy prices then I spotted this independent bakery, decided to pop in and bought a large pastry. Very nice and a good price. Maybe a bit more seasoning required but maybe my personal taste. Will be returning.

Atmosphere was really good. The coffee tasted great. The monkey bread and cinnamon bun were delicious. Marty, the accordion player, was the gem though!

Had a microwave warmed pasty (I did agree to that, wish I hadn't as it went soggy as hell) and bought 2 pieces of choc chip shortbread to take home. I'm not sure what ingredients went into it but I would never have called it shortbread (sh*tbread more like). Cooking chocolate chips and not a whiff of butter or sugar, just bland and floury. Perhaps they were using a wartime recipe when rations still applied. Sorry Ellis, I will never be back - what a shame for an old fashioned bakery that has been there for years.

My daughter picked this restaurant to eat at after our outing in Providence yesterday. It's a lovely little place on a corner across from the PPAC. The service was great and the food was delicious! We all decided on breakfast sandwiches. Loved the tomato jam. Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! We'll definitely be back!

We absolutely adored Ellies! My husband and I ordered some desserts for Christmas and they were so beautifully prepared, we're in awe! While picking up our treats, we ended up snagging a breakfast sandwich and some coffees. I had probably the best latte I have had in some time and their breakfast sandwich had our mouths watering! Such fresh ingredients. We will definitely be back! The staff was friendly and upbeat and so helpful and welcoming. If you're in the area, or looking to get out of the house for a bit, check this place out, it's a gem!

My family and I ordered 2 ham and cheese croissants and a chicken sandwich. It cost $40 for unflavored chicken and a small snack!

I ordered a cake for the anniversary at this bakery and the result disappointed me greatly, I was greatly saddened. I was ashamed to show such a cake for an anniversary, the festive mood was spoiled. Cake very poor quality, poorly made; tasteless, not fresh, very dry, not fluffy, not soft. The decoration is very ugly and the cake itself is unholy, ugly, looks fried any way. The one who baked this cake has absolutely no experience and does not pay, does not try. I do not recommend ordering a cake for a celebration at this bakery, you will get a very poor product and pay dearly.

I needed a rush order for a friend, and Stephanie and the Ellie's crew went above and beyond to make it happen. Would recommend Ellie's to anyone looking for treats and great service!

Tasty coffee and pastries. We had an Americano and Cappuccino and both were to our liking, strength and warmth just great. Both chocolate and almost croasaaint were good, especially the almond one. There are few tables outside and usually a person playing on accordion. The staff is very friendly.

We waited a full hour for our togo drinks, an iced coffee and an iced latte... Nobody got time for that! And also they made our food order wrong. We got a breakfast sandwich but they put in a salad with no bread.
