Ellies Cafe-Grill in Dungannon

Hands down the best food we have ever had. The flavour in absolutely everything was 👌 We had the sharing platter, duck spring rolls and the duck main. We aren't from the area but we'd happily take the trip back just to eat here again. Highly recommend

Went here on Saturday afternoon. It was very quiet and I don't know why. The food was lovely and reasonably priced. We had the steak sandwich, bbq burger and salt n chili chicken. Everything was well cooked and the onion rings were homemade!! Great views and lovely staff.

Went here last Tuesday evening with family for a coffee. We actually ended up here because Costa was closing. I got a large americano and my wife got a regular. Absolutely terrible sizes. Large was no more than 250ml, if even! So imagine how small the regular was. Them 2 coffee alone, £6. Not be back. Costa the next time.

Walked in and the view straight away from the wall of windows... its stunning! It is worth 5 stars on its own! Lovely food and great service, even my picky eaters ate it all. Good selection for a lunch menu, really enjoyed it

I have eaten at Ellies on a number of occasions and found it hit and miss but post covid I figured I would try it again and was pleasantly surprised. I had a table booked for a low key family meal. We arrived and were quickly seated at the large back windows as I had requested which offer a spectacular view across Dungannon and beyond. The sunny day made this view even more impressive and offered many talking points. We were seated and a drinks order taken straight away while menus were distributed. The menu is a single, unlaminated printed sheet, a remanent of covid times which I hope will disappear soon as the single page is less than pleasant to order from. The one gripe I continue to have with Ellies is the slow service for the initial ordering of starters and mains. The service the rest of the time seems to be fine but this initial delay to order is a consistent issue. Starters arrived quickly consisting of brie, soup, salted chilli chicken and garlic mushrooms. I first want to say that the portions for starters are very generous. The bries were large wedges, there was plenty of chicken and mushrooms too. A delight when you consider that usually starter sizes can be rather mean. The brie was golden and gooey. The soup was a subtle, creamy curried cauliflower which was a delightful change of pace from the bog standard soup choices offered elsewhere. For mains we had steaks, chicken stacks, burgers and baked salmon. All of which was fabulous. Portions were generous and served very well. The steak was cooked to perfection with a lovely sear. The champ was creamy and the baked salmon was a riot of colour. For dessert we indulged in cheesecakes, lemon meringue pie and brownies. The cheesecake was super rich and sweet. The brownies very sweet but still nice. The lemon meingue let the side down a little because, while it looked like a work of art it was cold. Lemon meringue should be served hot, and not just the meringue blow torched to mildly warm and browned. From base to tip it should be hot. The vanilla ice cream tasted vaguely smokey also and was not something we would go for again. Other than speeding up the initial ordering and tinkering with the desserts to serve hot where appropriate and change the vanilla ice cream brand, I was very impressed with this trip to Ellies and will certainly be back. For the generous portions and good quality the meal was also quite reasonably priced!

Visited on a Friday evening for a special occasion with our son. Tables well spaced and welcoming. Food was excellent and our son’s food was good too. No masks worn but staff did not get too close and we were happy to pass plates across. Reserved our table and were given one with a view. Have been many times and will return. Good for Sunday lunch too.

Had a lovely visit to Ellie’s Dungannon this evening. The friendly staff went above and beyond to please the children and the food was amazing. Thank You & Well done! Would recommend Ellie’s 100% and will definitely be back very soon.

Went in with a few friends one night and had a great time. Staff were all lovely. Food was a little expensive but definitely worth it. I loved the veggie stir fry, it’s worth a try!

Staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered 3 courses and cocktails. Food was nice. Not expensive but not cheap. Window seats would give you a lovely view. We were quite cold the whole evening was my main concern. Would likely return in summer!

Was in Dungannon and found this great place to have Lunch. Excellent food and very friendly staff. Have recommended it to other friends and family members. Will definitely be calling again when i am in the area.

Great spot to pop into for little lunch date with my mum. Fast service and lovely staff. Food was delicious, I will defiantly be visiting again.

We visited as a family for a birthday dinner. The staff are amazing and so attentive. I needed help with gluten free options and the waitress told me with ease which dishes suited and even checked with the kitchen and they changed the halloumi starter to be gluten free. This is so refreshing I felt like I had so many choices. The food came and it was fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed the meal in lovely surroundings. Highly recommend Ellies as a place to eat when in dungannon.

I take my lovely godmother here often as she just loves it. She enjoys looking out the panorama windows at the views over dungannon and even more importantly her inevitable sausage and chips. The staff always look after her so well and have her order down pat. It's a lovely open restaurant with great parking for the golden oldies. The menu has many other tasty options besides sausage and chips you may be pleased to hear and I cannot fault the service in any way. Many thanks to all for the enjoyment we have here.

As a frequent mid week customer called on the Sunday evening for food at Ellie's .Got a table with view and was given a menu quickly order was taken for two burgers one chicken the other meat both priced at £12.65.After a long wait our meals arrived the meat burger was good tasty , how ever the chicken was very tuff had great difficulty cutting it.Paid the bill which came to £26.80 when I came home looked at bill we were charged extra £1 for(on bill)griddled chicken Bacon and cheese and lettuce plus 50 pence for mayo which we did order.Felt we should have been charged what it said on menu Will not be returning mid week or Sunday in future

Ellies food was good and they have an excellent variety or vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Overall, everyone enjoyed the food and the staff were very friendly!

Hello, I am writing to say how disgusted I was at how I was treated today in your restaurant. Firstly you have on your menu gf chicken burger and chips, however you did not have a gf bap, then you did not have gf chips. There was no apology for this, I ended up with a plain chicken fillet ( no batter) a pile of leaves and onions with a tiny slice of tomato and a very small serving of coleslaw with possibly a few peppers and was charged the full price of chicken fillet burger and chips!!! When I queried the price the person in charge was extremely rude. Will not be back. Why advertise on your menu food you do not have? Why employ rude staff?

We called here on a Saturday evening at 5.30. We were greeted by a pleasant and efficient waitress. The food here is very good and very reasonably priced. The decor is comfortable and modern and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The menu is varied enough to suit all tastes. We will certainly go again soon.

This place is well worth the visit. From the minute you arrive the wonderful staff are very warm and welcoming. This continues on throughout the evening with their amazing mouth watering food. I will definitely be back. Well worth a visit.

Food very good but service so slow but staff friendly and helpful. Do not go there if you are only out for one hour lunch. Provide take-away service as well as sit in. Good for night time meals as in no rush. Price good. Wheelchair access.

Over priced, sub standard I'd not recommend. Nothing else to really say about this apart from avoid.

We called in here after a St Partick's day visit to the town with family and had a great lunch. The food was, as requested, brought out fast as we were on our way to the Airport, but the food quality was excellent and the taste great. We had a good mix from the menu and the service was very friendly. Very reasonable prices too. Will come back again. Final point, great view from this vantage point on the top of the town, which I am sure would be good at night.

We went tonight, a friend and myself. I rang ahead and booked. We had starters, mains and coffee. Our food was good. I checked the closing time on FB and it said 10! At 9.15 we were presented with our bill - even tough we hadn’t asked for it. At 9.40 we were told that they were closing and could we leave!

I’ve ate her so many times and it never fails to disappoint, the staff is so helpful and the food is always so good. The cocktails look amazing can’t wait to try 1! This pace is good for a quick lunch during the day or if you want to enjoy an evening meal.

Need a venue for a double 70th birthday and a Toth birthday on the one day. View is amazing but this restaurant is woeful.

Called in here by chance and what a gem. Beautiful food so well presented and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so welcoming. Our server (can't remember her name) had a fantastic memory didn't even have a book and the order was spot on. Definitely be back

Best breakfast I ever had. Definitely worth stopping at. You might have to wait a while as they are so busy. But worth the wait.

Our friends took us here after meeting up with the day as they regularly visit. The restaurant itself had a nice setting with lovely window seats out onto lovely views. We ordered starters & mains between us & the kids got three food very quickly which was good they all had empty plates and were satisfied. We had a mixture of dishes from the early bird menu and regular menu and all were happy with dishes. The only thing was nobody came to clear our plates so we were all sitting for a while before we went ahead ourselves and paid when we were leaving as there was nobody around our table for quite a while to ask for Bill. It was reasonably priced and enjoyable.

Setting is amazing. Service was terrible. Food was over priced, over cooked, low on quality and cold.

My friend and I visited last Thursday. We got a window seat as requested and received our drink order and menus quickly. We waited about 20 minutes for our food which was ok as we were busy chatting. My friend ordered off the Early Bird Menu and when it arrived there were chips instead of garlic fries but she didn't mind. (The vegetarian stir fry would feed two people!) We sat for a long time after eating and no one came to remove the plates or ask about desert menus.We also had to ask twice for some water. The restaurant was pleasantly busy.

Ate here as a party of 5 a few weeks ago. Seated at the window with a great view across dungannon. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. No complaints there. The menu was extensive but all pretty standard stuff. Our party had fish and chips and peppered beef I went for the duck confit. When it arrived the duck leg was covered in cabbage and was served with a weird mango sauce. I like a bit of cabbage but this was a touch excessive. Each individual part of the dish was nice but it didn't really combine to make a complete dish.

We ate at Ellie's twice during our stay in Dungannon. Great food, pleasant staff and a picture windows with a lovely view.

Have visited twice now in the last few weeks for breakfast. The first time service was amazing and quick. The food couldn't be faulted. My husband had a fry and I had pancakes bacon and syrup. The second time however wasn't just as good service was very slow and when my breakfast came I was disappointed to find my egg must of burst in the pan as there was no nice runny yolk. It was also on the cold side. In future I'll stick to ordering pancakes xx

I booked an 80th birthday dinner at this restaurant for my mother, we had a party of 11 adults and 5 children, I had brought along a birthday cake which I left into the restaurant before our party arrived which I appreciated.

Popped in for lunch, had the fish and chips and it was gorgeous not overpriced and the service was excellent

Having booked a table, we arrived and were seated immediately and shown the menus. There is quite a wide variety of starters and mains, all reasonable priced. Service was professional, polite and prompt. The food arrived quickly, was well presented hot and tasty.

With all the bad press about Dungannon's famous road system upgrade it was worth a visit to Ellies Grill in Thomas street, what a golden gem with at the door parking, friendly considerate happy staff with nothing any bother. Getting seated by the window was another bonus with a stunning view overlooking the surrounding countryside. The spacious table seating complimented the whole dinning experience with great service and fresh tasting food, as Arnie says " I'll be back".

We went in for coffee and a dessert twice - the coffee was good but the sweets are overpriced. One time we were charged 14GBP for 2 lattes and 2 sweets - we never did see and itemized bill so I think we good dinged...

My Wife and I were entertaining our friends from Lisburn for lunch we were all delighted with the tasty food which was very well presented and the staff were excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Restaurant to anyone !!!!! Derek

Found this place almost by accident. It was lovely setting and staff friendly and welcoming. Food was good, portion size perfect and kids menu good choice. Cost ok, mains £11+ so not the cheapest. Will definitely go back.

This is the best restaurant we found in Dungannon. Good food, good service and a 5/5 for food hygiene.

I have been here a few times now, and each time I have not been disappointed, the food is delicious and beautifully presented and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There is also a very pretty view of the countryside if you sit at a window.

Been in numerous times for breakfast and lunch - have yet to be disappointed with my sit ins.I have had a take out a few times, all of which have been chicken caesar salads. For some reason i was given different chicken each time in my salad take out from what is served when sitting in (perhaps this is their normal workings but i was disappointed).On the other hand, the chicken caesar salad when sitting in was fantastic - will struggle to find a nicer one in town. Other foods are also very good; omelettes, goujons, burgers, breakfasts.Service is adequate and polite. I'm not one who demands great service or cares much about it so i can't complain on that front. I hate those places that have too many staff on and your table is being hounded every 5mins with those asking "if everything satisfactory" - luckily Ellies gets the balance just right!Have been numerous times and will always frequent myself here.Good views from window seats also!

Had to get our own menus after a 5 minute wait in a not too busy restaurant, food arrived and was very tasty and well presented, we then sat for a good 10 minutes with the dirty plates in front of us, nobody came near us, we wanted dessert but gave up waiting. To add insult to injury a waitress came and sat down close to us with her dinner! Nice looking restaurant and good food but the service is practically non existent.

It's an expensive place, has a poor selection and I watched the chef lick his fingers as he prepared his food a blonde short guy, disgusting and I'd not risk coming here after such terrible behaviour. The owner should stick to his chip shops, staff have no customer service training and seemingly no concept of food hygiene , might sound harsh but a fellow reviewer also has commented and seen the same antics from this member of staff.

Food well presented and tasted nice. Staff however are quite removed from their jobs: need some more training in customer service.non welcoming, rushing all the time and we waiting a 20 mins before ourPlates were removed at lunch time.

This is a good little spot tucked away from the main town centre. Very clean and well run with good food and good staff.

I visited Ellies for a quick lunch with a work colleague. Friendly staff, beautiful decor and stunning views out of the massive windows that run the length of the restaurant.We were seated and served quickly.I had the chicken caesar salad which was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented.I will definitely be back to spend more time here and sample more of the menu.

Today my friend and I arrived to grab some food before a meeting. We picked a table and checked out the menu. When the waitress came to take our order I said I was gluten free and asked could I have bacon, chips and an egg- well I was shocked the abrupt answer of no you won't get an egg as it is after 11:30am. I asked if they ha any eggs? She said yes but they don't cook eggs after this time? She pointed me to the gluten free options of curry and stir fry. I asked could they ask the chef if I could get an egg as that's what I fancied - she said no they won't do one for you, we only have sausage and chips with beans on the menu - I choose the 'gluten free veg curry'.Let's just say my stomach is killing me 3 hours later. I'm not blaming the curry however I know my symptoms and body to know that I was intolerant to something in the curry-It was easy but the service was terrible - no such things these days as pleasing a customer-

Warm friendly restaurant. Hadn't planned or booked to go, driving past and just popped in on a Tuesday night.Friendly welcome, good table by the window with wonderful view. Brie to start and lasagne main course, couldn't complain. Reasonably priced, tasty food and decent service. Nice modern restaurant.

Oh my what a confusing lunch. My daughter wanted a toasted sandwich and they said no she could have a toasted panni instead. She then thought of a BLT but without cheese, but they had no bacon so she got a BLT with chicken and tomatoe instead of bacon, lettuce and cheese. To me that's a toasted sandwich, we did laugh. Service can be slow and food is very hit and miss at lunch and breakfast time.

I have been here many times-always to my delight. I have been here both night and day. I've recently asked who the Chef is. I want to give a shout out to Gary the head Chef & Jo. You do such a great job with your food presentation & it's always delicious. The pepper sauce is to die for & I know it's Gary's recipe. I can't wait to go back!!! I just love it & there is nowhere like it. Did I mention the good service from Marie-Therese-always excellent!

Been here 3 times in the last month! Food is always very tasty and service friendly and efficient! Love going to Ellie's , it's our favourite local restaurant at the moment, and they do a great special offer of a bottle of wine for £10!! The only thing they could do better is turn up the heating! Visited ellies last night for my birthday dinner, the service was ok but the food was terrible, it was bland and only lukewarm. Starters were lukewarm fried brie and thickly battered mushrooms (frozen fresh) For mains I got a piece of tasteless chicken with a lump of cheese just placed on it, not melted just sitting there. The chips were far from hand cooked, they were frozen supermarket chips just awfull. Will not be back ever

They have recently extended this and I can see why as the food quality is very good with excellent friendly service. There is a great view from the wall length windows and the overall ambience is pleasant.

Recently visited for lunch with my family and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Food was lovely, portion sizes where just right, view from our table was great and price we paid for what we got was excellent value. Only negative is that the bathroom was not very clean but otherwise a great experience and will return more frequently.

Went here for dinner with my partner. Service was great even though they were flat out. We waited for about 10-15 minutes on our food. We both ordered the fish and chips. I was expecting it to be served on a plate, however, it arrived in a mini fryer basket. For the life of me I don't know why. Had a bit of trouble cutting into the fish due to the limited room in the basket. For was nice though, but for fish and chips in a mini basket; it was a bit expensive.

Stumbled across this lovely wee restaurant today after an unexpected trip to the Minor Injuries Unit in Dungannon. Unfortunately the best tables overlooking that great view to the mountains were occupied but we had a lovely meal. My husband had the chicken curry which was beautifully presented and enough to feed two people! I had the chicken Caesar salad which was very tasty except for the croutons which were too big and tasted a bit odd! Treated ourselves to dessert which was divine, lemon and almond cake and chocolate fudge cake and couldn't fault either. ( we shared!) Next time I'm in Dungannon will return. Delighted to see the restaurant busy and wish them every success for the future.

I already have reviewed this restaurant and I have to say it did not disappoint staff really friendly and they made sure everything was OK throughout our meal. I had the beef stir fry which is the best I have tasted my wife had the chicken Maryland which was really nice. Each time I go back this place seems to get better. If in Dungannon I would definitely recommend.

Called in last Sunday for lunch. Carvery plated for you which is great - no queuing! I had asked for a window seat when booking and we got the best one!

Ellies is a new eatery combining Traditional Irish with modern cafe entrees. There is a stunning view from tables near the windows overlooking the Irish countryside. Great value for very well prepared food. Homemade dessert case also for a take away treat for later.

Had a lovely meal in here on a Friday evening. Prawn starters were delicious, Steaks were cooked perfectly and served with substantial salads and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. Sat at the window and had a great view over Dungannon and the Sperrin Mountains in the distance.Will return.

Came here for Sunday lunch. Nice food helpful staff and right in the centre of dungannon. Worth a visit.

Was ok. Asked for a rosè wine and got a West coast cooler rose. We both asked for our steak to be medium and they wer both cooked well done. Very disappointing

After having visited here previously & leaving a review on my disappointment on the service & food, I have to say after going again for an evening meal things have improved.Four of us went in early September for a friends birthday & we where in time to avail of the early bird menu.The choice was good & we all really enjoyed our food, I'm a vegetarian & my meal was delicious.The staff where friendly & attentive.I felt like I was in a different restaurant to my previous daytime visit.All in all a good experience on this occasion.

Went to Ellie's for lunch on a Thursday. When we went in we were seated straight away and a drinks order taken. While we were there it wasn't too busy. We arrived at 1.10 and after placing our order we waited 50 mins for our food. It still hadn't arrived so I went and asked the waiter. They explained that there was a bit of a mix up on their behalf and that our order had only been placed now, however it would be out straight away. The waiter was very apologetic and It was clear that it was just a mistake. We got our food at 2.05 nearly an hour after arriving. The food was nice and the waiter kept checking back to see if everything was okay.

Stopped here for lunch. The place was freezing cause the aircon was on. Took drinks order straight away which took a little while to come out and then we ordered food. Food was ready really quickly and was nice. Especially the chips. Staff were pleasent.

We called into Ellies for an evening meal and were greeted by a very friendly efficient waitress. The menu was varied and good value for money. The waitress showed us to a lovely table overlooking the town and quickly brought our drinks followed by our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you wish to have a really great dining experience.

Having been at the hospital near by for a scan, I had been fasting all day an needed a fed. Seeing this on the way it looked clean and tidy from the outside. i was the same inside. The food came quite quickly. Ordering a cup of tea with it good to see a mug arrived. With two large teapots. The food was reasonable and not over expensive.

Scones did not seem like they were baked on the premises - disappointing - perhaps lunch or evening meals are more appetising - but first impressions are usually lasting and I won't be rushing back..

A nice little spot with great views out over dungannon. An extensive menu with a great variety of choice to please everyone. The food is quite nice, but i do find that it varies quite often and there is no consistency. I always order a Caesar salad but each time it is always made differently sometimes with different ingredients which is slightly annoying. Service is improving as well which is good. I would recommend for lunch if looking for somewhere in dungannon.

This is now the third time I have eaten here. Twice with work colleagues for lunch and with my wife this evening. I have always found the staff to be very attentive and the food has always been of a high standard. Portion sizes are more than enough.

Called in here one afternoon round 4pm. We just had walked in through the door when a disinterested waitress looked up from the till and said lunch is over at 4 but you can get a coffee or a scone! We said no thanks and left. After reading reviews on this place I wouldn't be turning customers away.

I visited here yesterday with my brother for lunch, we where sitting at our un cleaned table for over 10 minutes waiting on service.I eventually had to call someone to ask if was table service or did we have to go order ourselves. Then after the waitress took our order I had to ask again for the table to be cleaned.I ordered a vegetarian toastie, & the filling was just falling out of the bread as they hadn't put cheese or a sauce of any kind to hold it together, my brother had the chicken toastie & his was the same.We then asked for 2 pots of different sauces to try & make the food edible ourselves.The service was terrible the food was poorly presented & all in all it didn't make for a good experience.With so much choice around the area at the minute they would really need to improve, & as its in a prime position in town with some improvement this would be a great place to dine.

Dropped in on Ellies Café-grill after a long day out not sure what to expect and found the meals to be of good quality and value. It was clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stopped here for a quick lunch when I was passing through Dungannon. Lovely place that is very clean and that has very attentive and mostly friendly staff. It was fairly busy but not hectic. I decided on the soup and sandwich combo which was lovely. Red pepper and courgette soup was really good, hot with loads of flavour. My only gripe was that the bowl was really small, that's the only reason I haven't given 5 stars. My sandwich was really good, fresh and a decent amount of filling but not everything on the sandwich menu was available which was a bit disappointing. I'd happily come back here for food and I'd recommend it to others. The desserts looked very good too.

I have eaten here both in the evening, at lunch time and for a light bite on half a dozen occasions. I and my friends have thoroughly enjoyed our food each time. As an accomodation provider, I have sent guests there and they all come back with the same opinion. Could not have been nicer.

No one had been there and we were going for Lunch with a few lads from work. I ordered a coffee assuming that [because of the menu] it was made from grounds. It was barely distinguishable as coffee; it was that weak. I ordered something simple a tune and sweetcorn sandwhich and I could have counted the sweetcorn on one hand. The tuna was fairly bland as well and the sandwhiches themselves looked like they had been hacked apart with a broken bottle. Staff were very friendly if a little on the slow side but interior is nice and fresh.

Visited here one Saturday for lunch. We were showed to our table, and then sat waiting to order for about 15 minutes. The waitresses just walked past us ignoring us, even though it was not busy. We ordered soup and a sandwich, and burger and chips. Then we waited 45 minutes for our food. A table of 6 came in and ordered after us, and were served their food before us. No waitress came near us, to apologise for the wait, or say how much longer it would be. I managed to call over a waitress and she was not friendly at all, didn't listen to what i called her over for, just said someone will be with u in a minute. A couple of minutes later our food arrived, and waitress said your food was so long as you ordered the burger. Don't understand that as the table that arrived after us git burgers?? Food was average. But service was unacceptable. Will not be back

Lovely place to have a nice peaceful meal. Service is a bit slow at times but staff are very friendly.

First time here decor very nice and we were given a seat by the window great view. I had a beef stir fry and I must give this 4 stars best I have ever tasted. Staff were very friendly and looked after us really well. We will definitely be back would recommend

Went in this morning for breakfast with my wife. The food and surroundings were very nice, and very good value for money. However, and its a big however, we are disabled. My wife would normally use he wheelchair when out. On this occasion she had to use her crutches as there was no space either side of the parking spot to position her chair. I'd point out to the owner that it isn't enough to paint a wheelchair on an existing space, you have to ensure the space can be properly used. Sort out the parking and we will visit regularly.

Went with some friends but we couldn't pay separately for our own which made things very awkward for us. 1 person had to pay by card for us all.... then we had to pay her and most of us had no change and had to owe her. Spoiled the whole experience. Food mediocre. My wrap had hardly and chicken in it and the taco sauce was not visible the portion was so mean. It was dry and small and very dissapointing.

I took a business colleague here for lunch a few months back and on his return visit two weeks ago he asked to go again so it must have been good.I've only ever been here for lunch during the week and it's always been nice without doing enough to make me come back outside of work hours - a very solid 4 stars though. Last time I has in I had a warm chicken caeser salad and I'd happily recommend it.The staff are friendly but on two occasions my bill has been wrong at the till. The first time I took that business colleague the bill was out by about 100% as I'd been charged for 4 meals instead of two. The lad on the till appeared to be very young though and learning, and the mistake was so obvious that there was no way it was deliberate. His attitude was a bit funny though as while he remained pleasant he couldn't sort it out despite several attempts and eventually he just walked off leaving the young girl beside him to fix it.

My sister and I decided to visit Ellies for coffee and scones this morning. We had never been before and were pleasantly suprised by the nice decor inside it. Nice and airy. We were shown to our table and given menu's. We had to wait quite a while for the waitress to came back to take the order. We thought that we had been forgotten about. When she came back we ordered two coffees and a fruit and cherry scone. I asked if they were freshly made today and she said they were after I asked her a second time.After quite a while again she returned with our order. As soon as I saw the scones I knew they had been taken out of the freezer. The top was a bit flaky as if it had freezer burn.The first bite confirmed this. They even still had a slight bit of heat in them. My sister agreed with me. They definitely had not been freshly baked that day but were stale and from the freezer. I don't like been lied to and would definitely not recommend their scones. The waitress when asked again if the scones were fresh said they were. I didn't like her attitude. We only had a few bites from the stale scones. Expensive at £ 8.40 for 2 scones and 2 coffees.

I took my great niece for break fast on Saint Patrick's day was not greeted had to find my way to own seat a group of staff standing talking to each other showing no interest in serving after ten minutes I approached the group of staff to and inquired as was any body serving to be told some body would be along in a few minutes at that moment I decided enough was enough and left restaurant looks lovely but service worst I have experience

On arrival we were seated, immediately asked if we wanted any drinks before even looking at the menu, ordered some drinks to stall for time to peruse the menu. Quite a varied selection and we decided on our food. Lovely light airy feel, unfortunately my sister and I felt like a cold air was blowing on us, on remarking to a waitress the answer was some pointing to the roof where I think she was making reference to a fan, a better idea would have been to ask us would we like to sit elsewhere. Ignoring these signs we ordered our food and eagerly awaited its arrival. The hand cut chips were dry and cold for the 3 meals, the chicken curry was lovely and warm but had a side of salad on the plate, and the rice had seen better days. We ate and then ordered tartlets for desserts, I presumed they would be individually made, alas they were slices of pie. On sight they didn't look appetising, they tasted slightly better than expected but had a soggy bottom. It was a sisters day out, and beyond the chattering at our table the dining experience was a disaster. Paid for the food and left a10p tip which was left from £40, to the waitress who mumbled about the ceiling fan. We will hardly be recommending Ellie's after today .

Went with friend and my baby son, got mouldy toast for baby... very disapointed as i use to go there often. Not going anymore

Went to Ellies after an appointment for a bite to eat, arrived at 1150am and unfortunately I was informed that the lunches menu didn't commence till 12noon and they couldn't accommodate us with 2 slices of roast meat. Surely if they had taken our order it would have been 12 noon by the time they got our order out.This is extremely poor service for the sake of approximately 10 minutes. Willl definitely not be returning to the restaurant. They do themselves more harm than good.
