Elizabeth Botham & Sons in Scarborough

The cakes aren't that great and the lady who served me was really rude - I asked what a cake was and she answered very abruptly (no it wasn't busy - there were 3 servers and only two people on the queue behind me), so much so I didn't feel I could ask about the other and, as there's no signs, I ended up with something I didn't want (treacle slice - wasn't nice). My mum had a cream meringue which looked great but didn't taste that great (she gave it a 3.5/5). The pizza slices weren't great either.

Really disappointed with the service we received whilst visiting. The person serving us was interested in having a chat with her colleagues than speaking to me. In fact, she didn’t actually say anything to me until I asked her a question. Otherwise she just chatted to her colleagues, even when I was paying. Really shocked as it’s the type of service you’d generally receive at a larger supermarket rather than a small independent bakery.

Been here many times. Always good for coffee and lunches although no longer has that old world appeal. Staff are always pleasant

Glad we enquired about seating, we could see the stairs but had a pram - in face the cafe goes way back on the ground floor beyond the shop. Delightful cozy, warm and helpful spot. Really pleased we didn’t go into C@@ta and managed to get delicious snacks for the kids which aren’t too many calories! Lovely local business

A secret afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. The staff went the extra mile by putting nice birthday decorations and a handmade card on the table.The tea itself was lovely. The arrangements were made over the phone and everything went so well.Lovely friendly Yorkshire folk

I have no complaints about the sponge cake and hot chocolate I ordered, but oh God...the Americanization of this country is appalling. Patrons were greeted as "you guys", asked multiple times if everything was OK, and the credit card machine now asks for a tip. The Skinner Street tea room itself is pleasant enough but I have no desire to visit again.

Delicious! Great food and service as ever. Beautifully decorated with a vintage but contemporary feel. Menu choice spot on. Afternoon tea was a delight. A trip down memory lane for us all and did not disappoint.

Went here for a quick snack and drinks but the way the elder member of staff was with customers and then saying things under her breath about my order of a cheese toastie, honestly just so rude she was happy to take my money though , wont be going there again.

All I can say is that you haven't lived if you've never had one of Botham's scones with lashings of jam and butter! A cup of tea or coffee complete the experience which you will want to repeat!

We didn’t eat in the cafe but the takeaway cakes were superb, especially the vanilla slices. The prices are also very reasonable and there are several outlets dotted around town, so finding one isn’t difficult.
