Elephant Lounge in Cheshire West and Chester

Great place, lovely atmosphere but do think the increased coffee price is too high. Paid £3.50 for flat white which I thought was more than enough at the original price of £3.30!! Will limit my visits in future as too costly for what you get - shame as lots of other cafes don't charge as much .

The setting of this place is perfect. With a good selection of food and drinks, it makes itself the ideal choice for a business catchup meeting or casual brew.

Great place and good service food was delicious and fresh. Dog friendly in courtyard. Unfortunately what let my visit down was being a dog owner I sat outside when 4 people came outside to smoke right by where people were dining. My dog behaves better and we should be allowed inside not subjected to second hand smoke and vapes

It pains me to write this as I've previously really enjoyed this place. I've been going every month or so since it opened all those years ago and was once the proud author of a 5 star Google review for it. But things have changed and I can no longer stand by that review. I guess I've just had more 'misses' than 'hits' lately with Elephant. Tables take an age to clear and you are often left with the previous diner's leftovers sat in front of you for a long time (often, even if you ask a member of staff to clear it). Several times I've just cleared it myself and left it on the counter when it became apparent we were being ignored. The food is usually very good, but today we had a lemon drizzle cake that was exceptionally dry inside (i.e. no drizzle at all) and when my other half mentioned this to the staff, they couldn't have been less bothered. The guy just looked at him like he had three heads and didn't offer any sort of resolution. I kind of expect that in a big city chain coffee place, but not here. Also, £4.80 for a tiny smoothie (maybe 250-300ml) just seems quite stingy. I guess the feeling I am left with, is that when you are spending close to £30 in a café setting, you expect the basics to be done well and treated nicely if there is an issue, but that just doesn't seem to be the case here any more. I'm not sure I'll be returning again.

As a regular customer of the Parkgate Lounge I am disappointed to find that the place has been taken over by dog owners. I have complained twice in the past about dogs being in the front of the lounge when they used to be confined to the back and the yard. There are clear signs stating that dogs should be on the floor and not on the furniture but this is not enforced despite staff quite clearly seeing dogs own seats eating ice cream from the table for example. It's off-putting for non-dog owners to have to suffer barking dogs running freely brushing their wet fur against our clothing and the associated smell. It's a shame that it's been allowed to drop to this level. I would have sent an email but there is no facility anymore. Great cafe ruined. Such a shame...

Beautiful coffee, best I've ever tried! Decor is very trendy

I have been a regular customer at the elephant and have always enjoyed the food. I have to say though that recently the food has not been so good, little filling in the paninis and bagels, the food also tastless! Over the years I have introduced family and friends who are of the same opinion. I have also visited the latest Neston lounge with family and friends and this was no better. Sadly Our visit today will be the last also for family and friends ☹️

Stopped for coffee and cake. Wasn't much left as it was late afternoon and it's a popular place. What we had though was decent and the coffee was quite nice. Dog Friendly too, which is a bonus.

A lovely independent with great views over the Dee estuary. Dog friendly, wonderful coffee they grind themselves, nice sourdough bacon rolls.

A great cafe and lovely atmosphere. There's a large partially covered outdoor seating area at the rear. Excellent coffees and cakes. 1 star taken off due to very slow service of the coffees. Cakes arrived within a couple of minutes, coffees about 15 minutes later.

I had a wonderful experience at Elephant. The food was delicious, the coffee was truly enjoyable, and the overall atmosphere and staff were exceptional. A perfect blend of flavours and hospitality—I'll definitely be returning for more!

Great cafe with a great range of bagels when available, this time we went they only had 2 options so I went for a bagel and a panini, cheese and onion which I wouldn't recommend as it over load with the chutney. My partner had a ham with cheese which was really with the honey mustard.

Cosy coffee shop with relaxed atmosphere, great service and nice coffee. Very well known location on the Quay at Parkgate so it does get busy with walkers and dog owners.

What a find. Really vibey place. The fantastic coffee, jam slice and fast WiFi pale incomparison to the view though! A wonderful place to spend golden hour, I felt like I was on holiday.

Pop in almost every week busy today but found a table staff welcoming took our order, food / coffee arrived within five minutes lovely. Onion bhaji rolls a bit odd for breakfast but very tasty thanks

Not much food to choose from when I visited - granted it was a Sunday but I only had a choice of 2 cakes. Staff were young and not very friendly but atmosphere seemed nice.

This is a good place for coffee. Lucky enough to be able to sit outside overlooking the marshes and Dee Estuary. It is a very popular place. Excellent selection of drinks and food. It does get busy, but worth the wait.

I love this place! I can’t believe it has bad reviews, but I suppose some just love a good moan 💪🏻. Yes it can get busy but look at the bloody location! Absolutely dreamy! Best place to hang out in summer or winter. They’ve done a great job with the interior and the courtyard is a cosy place to escape the occasional gale force winds of Parkgate when you still need your coffee fix. Perfect coffee every time, great food, and always lovely staff. Looking forward to the shop opening ❤️‍🔥

I like it, nice venue, would benefit from serving some guest ales. I don't know if they do live music hut I could imagine folk/songwriters going down well in this atmosphere.

Only popped in for a brew, from what I experienced, it was busyish but speedy with our order. Tables seemed all clean but a little close to the neighbouring tables for my liking. I'm happy to recommend though. Maybe if I go back then the fifth star will be given.

Needed some refreshment mid afternoon after some coastal walking. Ordered at counter and tea and cakes brought to table. Pleasant staff, tables distanced and we had a view over the bay. Outer courtyard at rear if outside dining preferred. Very reasonable costs. Would visit again when back in area.

A lovely place to stop for a tea or coffee, with cakes and pastries. Dog friendly. Cyclist café at the rear next to the bakery. Good menu for food also, including home made pizzas.

Liked it, but it was very noisy with the music, and hard to hear sat next to someone. Food was nice, but most things were not available which was disappointing.

Good in every way ...except for the piped music. Can't please everyone I know but check out Jazz for coffee shops, I'm not a jazz fan but it's unobtrusive and doesn't distract from the visit.

My 20 year old daughter came home very distressed after visiting the elephant lounge .she was pestered by a mid to late 50s man name of gary old enough to be her dad. Unfortunately my daughter and her friends will not be going the the elephant anymore as I feel it is unsafe

Staff was amazing! I had an hour and half to kill and they looked after me. Only reason for not having 5* .... there was next to no chicken in my Chipotle chicken bagel. I didn't have the heart to complain as everything else was spot on. I will go again... even if just for the smiles 😃

It's a nice place. But the service is too slow. Was not even busy. Took at least 10 mins for a coffee to arrive after ordering. I'm not sure it's correct to charge £2.50 for a can of Fanta either. That makes beer look cheap

Popped in for a quiet coffee mid morning. Not possible as it was very full, and ruined by irresponsible dog owners. With the exception of guide dogs, no others should be allowed in any establishment that sells food.

Great coffee shop in Parkgate, looking out onto the marshes and across to North Wales. It's open from 9am to 11pm for breakfast, bagels, pizza, beer or coffee. I sat in there having a bagel, a few coffees and chatting to a friend for 5 hours and was never pressurised to vacate the table for someone else. It's got a chilled out atmosphere and the staff are friendly. There's indoor and outside seating and toilets.
