Great spot for tapas. Love the vibe.

Came here with a friend and was excited for it, booked a table weeks in advance. Atmosphere was lovely and felt comfortable from the start. Although I think I'd ask to sit downstairs during cold months ro escape the draft when the door opens. The waitress who looked after us was sadly not in the best of spirits and a bit grumpy and short but the man, and I believe could have been the manager, was sooo lovely We had a bottle of the house white (and a glass each afterwards), which we had poured as soon as it was necessary, padron, croquetas de jamon, bravas, pil pil, chorizo in cider (OH MY GOD - THE BEST and we just ordered tortilla to have somethingto dip the sauce in) and chicken alajillo Everything was delicious. Both of us have lived in Madrid before and we had a fair share of good tapas but this is as good as it gets outside (one more restaurant in london on that level in Spanish cuisine) We paid £120 together and it was worth it. Only little criticism was the waitress who was not pleasant (although nice at the end, may have warmed up) and it would have been nice to have some water refilled but that is moaning on highest level Will be back and can highly recommend

We arrived without a booking for an impromptu late lunch. One minute we were the only ones in the restaurant the next moment it was packed! Great atmosphere, lovely food and excellent service. This will now be my go to for tapas in London

Something incredible and with quality products..... The paella.. I can say that I have eaten many...... It is incredible...... I recommend it 100%.....

Lovely food but service was a bit patchy at times. It took us asking three different people before we got the bill. In addition, we over-ordered thinking the serving size would be tapas style and I wish our waiter advised us of this instead of saying it was the right amount. Instead pick 2-3 dishes per person as opposed to us picking 4 dishes per person which was too much. I recommend getting the croquettes and octopus. Patatas bravas and Spanish tortilla can be skipped. We’ll come back again to try some different things.

Very sad experience My wife got Gastroenteritis after eating in here for lunch. Another table complaint the food was not clean as well. I think their kitchen should be care about that.

For lovers of Spanish food... The restaurant is good and varied... Paella dish takes a long time, more than half an hour... But the food is delicious... Fast service... The team is smiling and helpful... The atmosphere is noisy... Prices are high...

It does not represent Spanish gastronomy at all. The lamb shoulders are dwarf, and overpriced. Prawns al pil-pil are not prawns al pil-pil as such, but rather a low-quality "simulation". Orange juice is a glass of bottled juice for 4 pounds, and in terms of Spanish gastronomy, very poor. The bill for lamb, a skirt, shrimp pil-pil and drink, 55 pounds for 2 people.

I cannot imagine these is a nice tapas bar hide in Mayfair. The food is very nice and phenomenon is also very chill.

Walked past many times but not poped but it always looked popular. Early Saturday evening walked in and could only eat at bar as fully booked. Tapas was very good and the service 👌 can recommend Brocolini salad, Gambas pil-pil, Berenjena and Pinchos. Will return and definitely book to make sure we can get in...

Paella Marinera Spanish paella This paella is really delicious. The rice is delicious and the seafood tastes rich. Every bite is super satisfying! There was also a small crab in the mussel, which was so cute. Gambas al pil-pil The shrimp meat is fresh and tender, and the aroma of chili and garlic is overflowing. Every bite is spicy and memorable. Lubina a la plancha The skin is golden and crispy, the fish is tender and fresh, and the heat is so good that you can cut it open with a fork. Crispy fish, soft and glutinous fish, sour and sour with lemon juice The restaurant is dimly lit, not very suitable for a date.

Great Spanish tapas restaurant in Mayfair. Great food and very reasonable prices, highly recommend the tortilla and the croquetas! Service was ok a bit inattentive but they did look a bit busy and understaffed.

We dined at El Pirata on a busy Friday night based on the positive reviews we’d read. Unfortunately for us, the reality didn’t match the glowing reviews. The tapas was ok but nothing special: I’ve eaten much better and more interesting in Spain and London. For the money the portions were small. The ambience was ok, bustling and noisy but the lighting was poor. I object to having to use my phone torch to read a menu (and I wasn’t the only one using one). Service was efficient but lacked empathy with me as a customer. The total bill for 2 with 2 drinks and 6 tapas was £90. This is Mayfair so you expect the bill to be expensive. But this wasn’t great value for money for what turned out to be just an ordinary meal.

It’s been a few years since I last visited this establishment and I wasn’t disappointed. I still maintain this is the best Tapas restaurant in London, the fact it’s been open 30 years is proof of this. The food was perfect,the cocktails very good and the staff very informative and attentive. If anybody is in London and wants a Tapas, this is the place to go

I have booked El Pirata of Mayfair to visit in the 10th February just before the Cirque Du Soleil show in Royal Albert Hall. Our booking was for 5pm and we arrived slightly earlier but the team accommodated our arrival time and seated us straight away. We have chosen the ground floor table area. The Atmosphere of the restaurant is very urban, staff are very nice and polite. Our menu choice for the night was prawns croquettes, bread crostini’s, green Spanish peppers, ham cheese balls for starters. The mains we had a Seafood Paella Marinara to share for two with some pairing of white vine and raspberry gin and tonic to go with. Desert choices were traditional Almond came and Creme Brulee( but did not had that evening) so we took the double chocolate brownie with ice cream. Nevertheless everything was amazing and our evening went to success. El Pirata is one of those places that you want to go back again and enjoy amazing food again. So yes we will be back again soon :)

Visited here on a Friday evening - it was lively and busy. The restaurant has a beautiful interior and feels cosy and intimate without being cramped. The food was lovely and full of flavour and despite being tapas, the portions were plentiful. Service was quick and staff were always topping up waters and clearing plates. I definitely recommend!

Have been going to El Pirata for over 20yrs and it's not changed much, which is what makes it so special. Great tapas, excellent service and very cozy atmosphere.

What a pleasant evening! I met a dear friend to catch up and ended up just discussing how amazing our food was! El Pirata offers a terrific selection of food of the highest quality. The service was excellent as well. I will be back very soon!

Doesn't even come close to Spanish food.Already starting from the bread which in my opinion tasted like it was a day old could have been warmed or toasted so that it would have tasted better with the aioli sauce.Overall the quality of the food was quite low and didn't reflect the price of the bill.

Amazing gem down a side road best tapas ever … better than any I’ve eaten in Spain! We decided to pop in for a bite to eat before a function around the corner, found it on google maps and thought we would give it a go! They found a table for us no problem without a reservation. The food hands down was amazing, lots of choice superb quality, wine was lush, it’s not somewhere (as in area) I would normally go to in London, but it’s now on my saved list and I will make a visit here again especially!

We had a lovely meal here. It was packed which was great just after Christmas and we experienced a first class service from the friendly staff and the food was excellent. It was a very reasonable price considering the location and we will definitely be retuning.

Everything we ordered was delicious Specially the Gamba al pil-pil and paella . The patatas bravas were a disappointment.

Llegamos a este restaurante de forma improvisada y la verdad que desde el primer momento el trato por parte de los camareros fue excepcional. A pesar de estar lleno, nos sentaron en no más de 10 min. Los trabajadores hablan español o lo básico y eso se agradece. Los precios están en la media de la ciudad. Difícil aparcamiento en los alrededores. La comida está buena, mejor que muchos otros de Londres. El local es muy acogedor y super decorado.

A pesar de ser algo caro, acorde con Londres, todo lo que hemos pedido estaba buenísimo. Nos ha encantado!

This restaurant offers a rich variety of tapas sets, and the chicken wings and potatoes inside are delicious. We also ordered seafood paella, which was generously portioned and had a rich variety of ingredients.

We had just arrived after a long-haul flight and this restaurant was right next to our hotel which made it super convenient. The place was packed and the manager seemed not that happy to see us or try to arrange a table and used all his energy to coax us to leave. We did not mind waiting but he was not keen on that even. In any case, a female staff who was a cheerful and very friendly person assured us that if we waited for just another ten minutes then she could get a table for us. And yes exactly after ten minutes we were seated and ready to order much to the chagrin of the manager who needs to be trained in customer service. The portions are quite small and the food is average. Compared to the quantity being served the prices are steep. In any case, we were glad we managed to dine in a place not far away after a long journey but I would not go there again.

Great flavours at a price, but this is Mayfair. Albarino wine, prawn dumplings excellent. Charming staff who forgot one ordered item because they were so busy, hence 4 stars for service. But really friendly. Atmosphere fun and cosy but my ears were ringing when we left, hence 4 stars for that. Good toilets (you'd hope so, and a crucial indicator in a restaurant). Recommended if you have £50 to spend on a modestly-sized meal with half a bottle of their more-affordable wine. I will return.

A wonderful place to meet friends have a conversation and just hang out. You have to book a table to make sure you get a table but even if you drop in which quite a few did, you may still get a table after a short wait at the bar. When visited, tables both upstairs and downstairs were fully taken. It is very popular and you can see why. It is the "real deal" Food great Service prompt If you're there at a table a bit too long there's a little rush so others ger a seat unlime in Barcelona or Madrid whwre rhere is no eush towards the end of your meal. But understandable and it is not rude just speedy!

The best Spanish restaurant I’ve ever been. The seafood paella have lots of seafood and isn’t salty. The quality of 5J ham is the best. The Secreto Iberico is the must have dish, highly recommended. Prawn is also tasty.

Given the location this is a really great restaurant - cosy environment - great service - portion control is obvious ( well it was to me) - but a good place to catch up with friends.

مطعم اسباني في وسط لندن كنا اربع اشخاص جربنا اطباق صغيره متنوعه كانت كلها جميله الصراحه عجبنا كثير الروبيان بزيت الزيتون الباييلا كانت خرافيه الصراحه … لاتفوتكم جداً حلوه اللي جربناها كانت بايللا الاكل البحري بس في دجاج اللي ما يحب الاكل البحري البايللا يبغالها نص ساعه عشان تجهز بعد الطلب بس تقدرون تتسلون بالاطباق الصغيره اللي كلها لذيذه تجربه حلوه وراح اعيدها اكيد الوقت اللي رحناه كان جداً زحمة وكان في ازعاج في الدور السفلي للمطعم الاكل جداً يستاهل

Food was small, It's not as good as it looks, and the seafood was not fresh with the bad service, the bill was 130 pounds, very bad, really not recommended.

There really is an endless amount of restaurants in Mayfair and because of this wonderful dilemma, you might miss this Spanish restaurant. Don’t miss it. The service is excellent and the paella was a particular high point, we tried both. Our group of five was seated downstairs and had a little stone alcove. I swear you blink and you’re in Spain!

Little gem hidden behind park lane. Such a lovely place and the food was AMAZING. I left with a happy belly and I will definitely return. All dishes were freshly made , tortilla di patata was authentic and the eggs with chorizo is really yummy!

Upon entering we were already met with friendly, humorous and personable service. The place itself has so much character with a variety of art works ranging from the classics to modern. We sat downstairs in one of the booths and the privacy was perfect for our catch up. The food was delicious, loved every dish we ordered (seafood and vegetables) and the alcoholic drinks was a delectably fun time. Would definitely recommend. If I lived in London I would be a regular.

The place remains super popular and even at lunch was full and it is quite noisy. Tapas really enjoyable although don’t go if you are on a healthy eating plan - lots of rich oils involved in the cooking process! Lemon sorbet not worth the money. Service was a bit hit and miss with the staff not seemingly dedicated to tables/sections - we had 4 different people. We weren’t hurried away despite being there over 2 hours.

What an INCREDIBLE experience I just had in this place going with my family of 5 people to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The host was smiling when he saw us arriving and welcomed us straight away even if the restaurant was busy (yes, very busy on a Tuesday around 20:10). We thought it would be hard to talk because it was crowded and then for our great surprise he showed our table was in a place that remembered a little cave, that looked so private and cozy. Perfect. We ordered for 5 people (one of them a teenager of 13yo) the share plate with 10 options of tapas (£62) and as well the paella marinata (£45). All was SO delicious, in the perfect temperature. The paella was amazing and as my husband’s favorite dish, he was soooo happy. The waitresses that served us were outstanding in their job, so attentive, cared about us in another level and had so much patience. They keep coming and serving us tap water, never leaving our glasses empty for more than 5min. As well they were always asking if we would like more bread, which was awesome because we love bread as well and for the spicy sauces it was perfect. At the end, I had a discrete talk with the waitress to order a brownie and if they could do something for my husband, she said that they don’t write anything on the desert, but at the end they put a candle on it and sang happy birthday to him. We were not charged for the delicious brownie as well. I am so thankful for everything that this became one our favorite restaurants in London (if not our favorite). We are definitely coming back.

What a wonderful place to dine. It is a cozy restaurant with a super nice vibe. The staff is on top of things - extremely pleasant - attentive - and professional. The menu offers a large variety of food - from small to large - and also have a nice selection of wine - by the glass or bottle - and a nice selection of cocktails. Definitely a place to dine - for lunch or dinner - or just any good time.

Overrated. Being alone I was placed at the bar.. so dirty and filthy that my arm, glass and menu kept going suck on it.. After asking help from the barman i was told that : Nothing could have been done about it.. The Black rice (few days old) was quicly and badly warmed up in microwave.. the starter tasted like the frozen appetiser bought from Tesco.. The bill quite was consistent and included a cheap (overpriced) bottle of wine.. To avoid at any cost..as there is nothing Spanish in this eaterie.. (Its a privilege to call it a restaurant)

Not family friendly nor very hygienic restaurant: sent us downstairs because we have a 2-year old knowing that stairs are not convenient for us and we were the only table in the downstairs: dark, stuffy and next to toilet. The waitress hardly smiles. Throughout our meal experience we saw A LOT OF food flies and bugs on the wall or hovering over our food or on our food. It was quite unpleasant. The food is not bad but not good for its value.

Un restaurante de parada obligatoria para aquellos que quieran adentrarse en la gastronomía española. Con un local bastante acogedor y buen ambiente. Respecto al servicio brindado por los camareros y managers destacar que es exquisito, muy atentos y amables desde la entrada hasta la salida. La carta cuenta con una amplia selección de tapas españolas, tanto de carne como de pescado. Destacar de mi experiencia las gambas al pil pil, las patatas con pulpo y el secreto ibérico que estaba delicioso. Preparan unos cócteles buenísimos y con una presentación de diez. Muy recomendable para todos aquellos que quieran conocer España a través de sus platos y se encuentren en Londres.

Absolutely the most amazing Spanish cuisine in London. I love the place so much I have to say. The black rice is sooo good that I can eat a whole bowl by myself!!! We 2 people ordered 4 tapas and 1 rice, that’s very enough and the price is reasonable. I definitely will go back again with my friends.

Tasting menu is super good. 11 dishes so you can try everything and the portion is not small at all. Sangria is super yummy Service is amazing. Always fill up your water

My husband and I love Spanish food and been to Spain countless times. This restaurant serves authentic Spanish food. Great selection of Spanish wines in all different price ranges. The service overall was very good. Our waitress mostly neglected us but the gentleman who met us upon entry and showed us to our table came to the rescue every time we needed something 😀. We ordered a bottle of red wine and it was very good. For the food, we had chicken and ham croquettes, fried calamari, octopus, and black rice with calamari. Both croquettes were very good. Definitely recommend. The calamari was very good too, tender and light breaded. The other two dishes were just ok. Octopus was tender but served with fried potatoes, usually it is served with boiled slices potatoes. Fried potatoes combined with lots of oil pored into the dish made it too greasy for our taste. The black rice and calamari was tasty but almost all rice, 3 tiny pieces of calamari. We thought it was too expensive for a small bowl of rice.

The food was great, the service was good aswell, but we’ve been sitting downstairs and it was unbelievably loud! Like seriously: I’ve never been to a restaurant THAT LOUD. There was a big birthday party but the room itself was only 50% full so I can only imagine how loud it gets. If was hard to understand what my friend was saying and I got a headache. We needed to switch tables because it was literally unbearable. If you go there be prepared to go deaf.

The place was very crowded and we didn't have reservations and we're okay sitting at the bar. Halfway through our drinks they found us a table which was very nice of them. Then we ordered several of the shared plates and every single dish was incredible.
