Best Spanish cuisine in South London, staff friendly, fun atmosphere and reasonably priced!

Never fails to deliver! Lovely restaurant with great food. Food is always delicious, our favourite dish is the aubergine with goats cheese! Can get very busy but the waitresses try their best, food comes out quick and great service. Cocktails are also great! Would highly recommend

Had a fabulous evening for my daughters birthday , staff were fantastic , amazing atmosphere and packed which I wouldn’t have expected for a Monday eve , food was delish and mocktails hit the spot ! Loved it , will definitely be returning.

Excellent food. Felt it was a little overpriced. Dishes arrived very quickly except the meat dishes, which came a few minutes after the veggies. Tapas sized portions, so you need to order 3 or 4 plates each to make a satisfying meal.

Great place to go grab a bite to eat. Lovely staff, not much else to say about this place. Not the most lively atmosphere ever but definitely decent food and a nice spot if you're nearby. I'd recommend it. Don't know of any other Spanish restaurants nearby either so if that's what you're after then this is the place for you!

I come to el Molino frequently and was really disappointed last night I have to say. A waitress took our drink orders and then took our food order and in a good time and we were looking forward to it as the food is always so nice. However as the food started to come out, we felt immediately rushed. As soon as we finished every dish, someone would come round and swiftly grab the plates off the table. I get that the kitchen try to clean as they go but I just felt so rushed whilst eating. It got to a point where a waitress came over whilst my boyfriend was still eating and a waitress grabbed the plates, and then took the napkin out of his hand 😂😂 I started laughing because I’ve never seen someone do this, what if he still wanted to use the napkin? 😂it was really bizarre. Then we ordered dessert, again feeling rushed and after finishing, a waitress came over and said hi, can I please ask u to move and sit down by the bar as there’s a woman on crutches here. I was quite confused as I booked my table a month in advance and we still were drinking our drinks and hadn’t paid yet, so wasn’t sure why we were being asked to move, the restaurant had obviously double booked maybe? But every other table was full so if just felt like we were being picked on tbh, especially as we had been so rushed all night. I obviously moved because I felt bad for a woman on crutches but surely the restaurant should have worked this out before? We were only on the table for an hour and a half so I don’t get why we had to move and give up our table. We then had to pay at the bar which I just didn’t really appreciate. Really disappointed and was going to come here in a few months for a special occasion but don’t think I will be

From the moment we walked in the reception was cold. Like we should not of been there. Food was below par, nothing special. Arrived quickly. Lacked authentic taste. Quick easy Spanish food. Better restaurants in the area.

Nice and friendly but rushed service, timing was terrible. Food arrived quickly, but we waited quite a while for the meat, the main part of the meal It was very expensive for what it is, we weren’t allowed a pint of the draught beer which is part of the rip off. We were forced to sit at a table we didn’t want, although there were empty tables available? Meal was “ok”, but the squid was awful. I won’t go back! 😡

Perhaps a tad pricey, but the food is good and service excellent. Very popular, so always busy and bustling. You have to book. Closing times vary, so check when you book.

This restaurant will transport you to Spain with their brilliant tapas ! The atmosphere and the choice of the cocktails are great such as the menu .The customer service is excellent! It was a fantastic experience that I haven't had for a long time for eating out and something that I will remember for some times ! Highly recommended it !

Was a very cozy dark restaurant with a good service. I’m not really to much into Spanish tapas food and personally I can’t see what the big deal is but obviously each to there own the food was just average by my standards would I go back I would but not in a rush plus for me the tables was to close together on top of one and other I’d give this one place 7/10

Came here for my dad’s birthday after driving past this restaurant for years and never visiting before. We were all very excited as the restaurant is always busy, so we took that as a sign that this was a good place to eat. On arrival, we found the ambience and decor was very warm and lovely. Sadly, the service and food did not match this. Our waitresses were somewhat blunt and unfriendly - no smiles, nothing in terms of attentiveness or asking how our food was, no thanks at all despite tipping etc. We found the food was very overpriced for what it was - we have dined in many other tapas bars in both London and across Spain, and this was definitely on the pricier side. For £9.95, we would expected more than 4 small prawns as gambas al ajillo, which were chewy and were not unshelled properly. Apart from the grilled chorizo & patatas bravas, the other dishes were pretty underwhelming for the price. In the end, we paid about £100 for a meal where we all left hungry and very disappointed. I feel sad to give a negative review for a local business, but unfortunately, this was our honest experience.

Local Spanish tapas restaurant with a lively atmosphere and vibe. They have very interesting specialty cocktails, some completely unique, some gives a twist to the classics. Food was the highlight. Rustic dishes, nothing flashy or over the top in presentation, but flavours were excellent. Garlic prawns were our favourite of the night. Meatballs were also delicious, tender and slightly pink in the middle, and perfectly seasoned. Padron Peppers were always good, and refreshingly light. The only slight disappointment was the octopus. Now, it was still very good and delicious, but it was just slightly overcooked.

My partner and I went here for the first time at the weekend for our 10 year anniversary. Service was good and the food seemed nice, but unfortunately less than 12 hours after leaving we both got food poisoning. So disappointing.

I've been to my fair share of tapas restaurants, but this one is one of the best. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, both traditional and more creative, and the quality is always top-notch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great tapas experience.

First time here & food is absolutely beautiful! Fresh, cooked well & lots of it Best calamari I have eaten & I've eaten alot. Staff are wonderful, attentive & friendly- couldn't do enough for us Walking around with jugs of cold water constantly topping up your glass Restaurant & toilets are spotless. I came to El Molino today with my two daughters. The Tapas is excellent 👌 we had seven different dishes, all were first class, best Tapas I've ever had!! Good value for money, no service charge so it's up to you how much to tip, I'd normally leave 10% but as everything was so nice I left 15% staff were friendly and efficient, a special thanks to Olivia who mainly looked after us. The decor is smart and clean, what's more to say. You should be very proud of what you offer. Congratulations 👏 🥳

It is the second time we go to this restaurant and I love it. The atmosphere is cozy, the music is traditional. The food is delicious and the staff is very nice, especially Bruno, he is very attentive and kind, especially with my daughter with whom he is very sweet. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

We enjoyed our lunchtime tapas. Will definitely return one evening. We usually go to Brindisa at London Bridge but thought we must try this restaurant so much nearer to home as the reviews have been good. Brindisa has the edge on El Molino, especially the sizzling garlic prawns. They are so fresh at Brindisa bought from the Wright’s brothers, as they have a better turn over. I think the prawns at El Molino were frozen. I have a history with this place as I visited it as a teenager in the 60’s with my parents when a Spaniard from Malaga first opened it. I believe it has changed hands a few times but now it is the best it has ever been. So, a nostalgic trip after so many years also having lived in Spain for 9 years it was good to have some tapas again.

Very nice place. Past this place for last 20 years, thought I should give it a go. WOW, have I missed out or what!, Glad we booked as the place was full on a Saturday night. Much bigger inside than I thought too. Food was very good, great Tapas, we ate around 9 dishes, only the chicken croquettes disappointed, I could not taste any chicken. All the rest were very tasty. I won’t wait another 20 years to go back!!

We have been to El Molino on numerous occasions in the past. This evening we booked for - and arrived promptly at - 7.30pm. On arrival, we were told we would need to wait for our table as the previous occupants were finishing their desserts. (We subsequently heard guests behind us in the queue being given an identical excuse for their wait.) We were told we could have a drink at the bar while waiting. There was no space at the bar and we were not offered, eg, a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. At 8pm (half an hour after our booking), we were shown to our table. We ordered a series of tapas. A few of our orders came. As did a number of dishes we had not ordered and had to turn away (as other customers were presumably waiting for them!). We requested some tap water, not least because the padron peppers were incredibly salty. “Of course.” No water came. Twenty minutes after most of our tapas arrived (and after we chased), our chicken skewers arrived: incredibly dry and salty. We were offered a dessert menu, which we accepted. Minutes passed with no service. We decided against ordering dessert and informed the waiter of our dissatisfaction with our dining experience. “So what do you want?” We don’t want to have to start bartering for a discount or free stuff; we wanted a better dining experience. It was my partner’s birthday. We don’t have the funds to go to a restaurant like El Molino all the time. We wanted to feel like our custom - and we - mattered to the restaurant. We will not be going there again.

Friend booked this golden gem, know the area well, but never noticed El Molino on driving past, there are outside tables at the front and back, very cute throughout, had a selection of dishes from the menu, the salad with avocado was gorgeous, the chorizo in red wine was sooo tasty, often the chorizo dishes can be a bit tough, this was melt in your mouth, chicken skewers a good size and very tender, we Sat opposite a friendly couple and it was one of those experiences where you couldn't help eye balling each other's dishes and the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen, we sat in a covered decking area ,in the back garden, have never tasted Tapas better then this.

Really lovely place with a great atmosphere, speedy service and some of the nicest tapas I've ever had outside of Spain. Well worth a visit.

We have just had a superb evening at El Molino. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient. I can't think of anywhere where I've eaten better tapas - we loved it. ( And the cocktails and wine were terrific too!) Wholly recommended!

Superb restaurant with charmingly simple but beautiful decor. Fantastic selection of classic Spanish dishes and a large assortment of drinks to choose from. We had the iberico ham which was excellent, the stew beef cheek with mash potato which was wonderful, so soft and tender and the potato was very creamy. The potato bravas was gorgeous, cooked to perfection, soft but kept its shape and it's slight firmness, and the sauce was perfectly balanced with its spices. The creme catalyuna was not what I was expected, it was an ice cream, it was still nice but the real thing would have been the icing on the cake. The price was excellent all things considered. Would certainly recommend this gem.

We were so glad that they could squeeze us in, it’s a busy restaurant, so you must book ahead! Service was excellent, and the food was even better. Save room for dessert. If you can, you should order the almond tart. Best dishes : Arroz con veduras, Beef meatball and Chorizo al vino. Toilets are tidy and the toilet paper choice is quality

We've lived locally a few years and only just discovered this fantastic tapas restaurant - lovely quality and freshness of ingredients, and all beautifully seasoned. I loved the chicken pintxos. Would pay _a lot_ more for this in town.

Probably the best tapas in the world can be had at L’Ortissa in Beniganim south of Valencia but if you can’t get there this place is pretty good. Three of us had excellent lunchtime tapas. Very tasty, good variety, freshly prepared, all the favourites, good Spanish wine by glass or bottle. Charming waitress. The best place I have ever eaten in Beckenham. We’ll be back.

Lovely dinner in a great restaurant with a great atmosphere! Wednesday night and it was packed so booking is probably a good idea if you want to go. Both food and drink were great with a versatile menu. Could happily go back again and nit have to order the same things on the menu.
