Amazing food and Saeed always makes us feel so welcome. Would highly recommend visiting.

Went for sunday dinner for two and found a good mix of flavours very tasty. It was cooked really well, and not overdone just turned up after 2 and was seated thank you

I have been here several times now half the times have been lovely food and service but a few times now had issues with the food. I never complain or leave reviews and just put the past ones down to a busy day and left it at that. But today has really annoyed me. We waited over an hour and half for the food to come out, it had died down and 3 tables had come in after us and ordered and finished their food before ours came we hsd to ask if they remembered our table, so I think they may have missed our ticket but never admitted it, no one checked on the table we had to ask if they were still making our food, we were told 5 more minutes then 20 minutes later we had to ask again. Not the end of the world... but the meal came out the 2 junior Sunday roast was a shock we had to share our meals with them it was literally - 2 roast potatoes and a 1x1inch piece of beef with peas and 1 baby carrot. Again not the end of the world would have just ordered an adult meal for them in future, just a shock for nearly £13 quid so expected it to be more. The worst part however what mainly led to this review as well as the above was the response i had when i asked for a different gravy and also that no one came to us at any point before, during, or after the meal? i.e would you like a drink, your foods running behind, is everything with the meal ok, can I clear your plates, do you want the bill all the norms and several times staff were stood chatting by the serving areas. I never like to shout server's over as I feel it's abit rude shouting excuse me across tables. The gravy had an extremely strong taste of burned pan to it and smelt like charcoal, these things happen so we politely asked if we could get a gravy from another pan. The one brought back out was the same gravy? I said im so sorry its still really strongly got a burn taste which had already been tipped on 2 meals that got left and wasted and others on the table didnt eat their meal because of the gravy as they had tipped it on the whole meal... to which the manager sniffed it and said no its fine. There were 5 different people and none of us could stomach it, I said no please ask them to taste it its really strong he said well I have severed over 200 people today and no complaints. I'm sorry but surely 1 pan doesn't serve 200 people and the smell was really strong so I have no understanding how he could say no its fine? He did after the 3rd attempt offer the veggy gravy and this was absolutely fine didn't have any burn taste or smell to it. The point is 2 of us couldn't eat the meal as the gravy had been poored on the entire plate and 2 of us had fortunately only poored it on the Yorkshire pudding and had the 3rd gravy which was fine, and there is nothing worse than someone being defensive and in denial when you cpuld smell the burned smell to it easily let alone the strong taste of it. We never complain ever, why on earth would we make that up and have to argue with the manager that it smelt fine. There was no service what so ever I had to wave down the servers for service 3 times which I feel is rude and there were many around available would have been nice to have some service. We were left sat as tables came and left before any service, most of the food was left because of the gravy and a manager that was defensive and argued that the gravy was fine is just ridiculous and it ruined our meals, stuff happens easy mistake but don't stand and argue that others haven't complained because a lot of people don't like to also 200 people didn't share the same pan of gravy..

Went for dinner yesterday. I'm absolutely disappointed in the food. The lemon chicken was absolutely dry. I couldn't even chew it! No flavour too...just like a cardboard. The starter we have ordered chorizo sausages...the presentation looked awful. The total bill came to over 100 quid. Waste of money. Wouldn't back.

The food and service have been fantastic whenever I've been here.

Ego is on our doorstep and its the first time we've visited, food was lovely with reasonable portion sizes. The staff are friendly.

My Pizza was tasty. My friends spaghetti carbonnara was tastless with only a little runny sauce in the bowl. I note previous similar comments. You are not learning from these reviews. I don't think I have ever paid £3 for a tea bag before! Don't think I will bother again.

The food side was rammed, which speaks for itself and may contradict what i say next... We found the atmosphere quite stiff. Our order was checked and our drinks order taken, but everything seemed rushed, apart from getting our drinks, which were left on the side for a good while and we had to ask again for them. There were no check backs, just whipped our empty glasses away and said "anymore?". We didnt feel very looked after during our visit. This wont stop us from visiting again, just maybe at a less busy time so the staff can slow down a bit and take time with their customers.

We had the fixed price menu (before 5.30pm) and it offered good value for money. We would definitely go back.

First time here, didn't book, but they found us a table, nice surroundings and food, would like to see a few more vegetarian dishes. As sweetcorn and courgette fritters are not too appealing for a main course, so ended up with pizza and salad, could do with a penne pasta arrabatta or feta cheese and beetroot tart with dauphinoise potatoes that would be nice!!

Had an excellent meal here last night,the only reason I knocked a star off was that my raspberry and frangipan tart was such a minuscule portion .I felt it was a lot of money for such a small portion.

Avoid this place at all costs! Ordered Mixed Paella and it came in a small tapas sized bowl. Felt very ripped off and left hungry . How can this place charge higher than London prices for a large wine. £12.95 !! Every meal on our table or 6 was poor in size for the money.

Lovely place, great atmosphere and the food was very tasty. We went Thursday which was half price Kebab night. I had Mexican lamb skewer. Sure it was a foot long or thereabouts, plenty of lamb, onions, peppers. Will definitely go again.

Our first visit to here, we were greeted politely by Amy who showed us to a table and served us for the duration of our meal, she was friendly and professional, the food was excellent as was the drinks. We will certainly be returning.

Cocktails were outstanding, probably best ones I've had in a long while. Food was not as good as expected, nonetheless, if your taste buds aren't too demanding, then this is a lovely place to go for a lunch/dinner. Place looks nice inside and outside, overall a pleasant experience. Definitely coming back in future for drinks, but probably won't go if I'm very hungry. 3.5/5

I often eat at ego and normally the food and service is extremely good. However, today's food was not so good. In fact really poor. I had the chicken supreme and my friend had the sea bass. Sadly both our meals were overcooked and dry. The manager had a 'couldn't care a less attitude'. ( I haven't seen him before at lunch time when I normally eat there) Nothing was done to make it right when I explained to our server that we were not very happy with the food. Although, I did get, "I'm sorry" and I don't think that was good enough. All in all, not a good experience today.

Had a really nice meal. Not a long wait, a live saxophonist was playing too.

Server Ross was a delight and made sure we were all seen to attentively. Food was OK but overpriced for sure.

Lovely food with a great selection on the menu. Reasonably priced for the quality and portion. It did take around 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive but our waiter did apologise and it was busy with it being the festive season. Also, our daughter did ask for diet coke and was given full fat. We didn't raise the issue as it had already taken a while to recieve our drinks. Staff were friendly enough and the food didn't take too long to arrive and when it did it was hot and fresh. The only issue we had really was being seated near the toilet entrance which was quite busy and all we could smell was the disinfectant from the toilets. Better to smell that than something worse, however, it was a little off putting. There really should be another door before the entrance to the toilets, there is potential to do that too so not sure why there isn't. We didn't like being seated opposite the kitchen entrance either, it spoiled the atmosphere for us personally. Overall, we would definitely visit again, this wasn't our first time but we would request not to be seated in that area again.

Had the Prefix Menu. The attention was poor and we were situated near the bar where there was a lot of industrial language. Not as good as previous occasions.

Lovely place to eat, great food, good service and good prices. Will definitely be visiting again when I next visit relatives in the area. Would recommend this pub/restaurant, well worth a visit.

Came to Ego's to celebrate my birthday with my family last Friday. Sayed that served us at lunchtime was fantastic. Nothing was to much trouble, even though he was very busy. The food was lovely and we all enjoyed our meals and especially the dessert. Great GF menu too. Fantastic service from Sayed from start to finish.Would highly recommend Ego at Ashfield.

We were a large party for a birthday celebration, it was Spanish night. The food was lovely and the staff was very attentive. lt was a lovely touch having live music playing. The only issue was a long wait for desserts and the overall bill amount, but we expect a large bill and don't mind on a special occasion when the food is good.

Wasn’t the best experience to be fair. I had a Chorizo starter, the chorizo was so soft it just broke apart when I tried to pick it up with the fork. My Piti Piti hanging kebab was hardly warm on arrival. I’m not one for complaining so just cracked on, but I did hear some women complain her food was cold. Really poor for a usually good restaurant, hope this was a one off.

Met up with 2of my oldest friends and had a thoroughly lovely time. Food was great and so was the service!!

Meal for 21, always a daunting challenge I would imagine for any restaurant. Arrangements made ahead of our arrival for meals and this was a super easy process. From our teams arriving the service was outstanding, tentative staff, excellent customer service and food was outstanding. Service was fast, food was excellent and everyone was served quickly and all the team enjoyed the evening. Great restaurant, great location, plenty of parking and a great atmosphere. If your passing through or working / staying in the local area then Ego is well worth a visit and we highly recommend visiting.

Met up with friends at lunch time who we hadn't seen for a while. We all enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks, all reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant and efficient.

Great food as always, we had 4 starters and 4 mains all lovely. Drink service was appalling had to wait 25 minutes for our second drink, we had all finished our meals by then and we had to ask the waitress on 3 separate occasions to chase them up.

Definitely not the best place to eat in Sutton, very average food. I’ve ordered a paella and it was not great at all. The place was very noisy due to people drinking at the bar.

Once the food was served,it was good. However, the service was a lot to be desired. The table was booked for 1:00. We were seated at 12:50 and menus were given. The order was taken within a few minutes and we were served our drinks. We then had to wait at least 40 minutes for the food to be served - I could have understood if it had been busy but there were only 5 other tables being served lunch. All in all, food good - service not so good.

Visited on a Saturday evening with family, we had a lovely evening. The restaurant is spotless, the team clearly work hard to make it that way. The staff were courteous and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was fabulous, taste and presentation were wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Went to The Old Ashfield for a birthday celebration meal with family. The staff were friendly, professional and incredibly attentive. The food was delicious and, despite there being 11 of us, was piping hot and served in good time. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

Came on Saturday night with my family , never been before. Will 100% return again, staff are very friendly and are very hardworking. You can tell that the business, management and staff takes pride in what they do . Very clean , steak was beautiful and very well presented.

We have been here many times in the past and had a great family lunch here on 4th November. Service and food were excellent.Good choice on the menu and we thoroughly enjoyed our food.

Brought us the wrong steaks, we couldn’t swap because the steak I should have had was covered in garlic butter & I can’t eat garlic. We told the hostess and she said sorry and walked away, no offer to rectify. To top it all when our bill came we had over £20 worth of drinks on it from another table. Usually a good night but this was well below par.

We were a party of 4 and one of the starters came out wrong. 3 people sat there eating and then finished there starters and then the 4th arrived. Main courses came out and the steaks were not trimmed of Grissel and the steaks were tough. Overall the dinner was poor.

Went for an early evening meal with 3 friends, the food was not up to its usual standard , green beans not cooked , and dauphioisse potatoes undercooked and bland ,when presenting a 20% voucher , and questioning the discount , most of the meals were exempt for one reason or another, very confusing and deceptive. As we had cocktails and several bottles of wine , our bill was substantial and a discretionary gesture would have saved the evening from being a disappointment.

came i tonight as a first time customer only to purchase a couple of beers took me 25 minutes to be served 2 members of staff on the bar both serving the same customer i asked if this is the norm the barman who was serving had an accent said why you in a hurry i said no but only 2 bar staff in a restaurant pub bit problematic he said no problem i decide how fast i serve

After a previous poor visit a few years ago I was pleased to see a massive improvement. Food and service were spot on. It was great to see.

We arrived as a group of varying ages for my daughters 18th birthday and it was wonderful from start to finish!! The cocktails and food were amazing and the staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble!! Will definitely recommend and return!!
