Efes Restaurant in Dartford

As MiddleEasterner, I definitely suggest this high quality Turkish restaurant for Kebab lovers. The food was so delicious as you feel you are in Istanbul and the hospitality proves it. Don’t forget to order Ayran (yougurt drink) as drink and Keshkul as dessert. I will come back again !

High quality and friendly staff

The staff is attentive and friendly, the food and portions are small, the food is at an acceptable level, the ambience is nice and spacious, the prices are normal.

Overall experience was positive, would definitely try again. We did have minimal interaction with server as our salads did not come with dressing and were waiting for her to come back, when she did and we informed her our salads that were now half eaten did not have dressing, she came back and dropped off oil and vinegar....everyone in our party finished their meals, stay tuned for my follow up one day!

Food - Amazing & delicious . I’m a huge fan of falafels and they made them just right. Recommended us good drinks as well. Atmosphere- beautifully designed & very intimate for a lunch date with your bestie , first date or night out with your family .

AMAZING! I got tiramisu and I was expecting the regular mascarpone cream and was I surprised. It reminds me of a cheesecake but not that dense, the cocoa is strong but not overpowering, you get the coffee which isn’t bitter. I will definitely be back to try more.

Very pleasant, pretty, comfortable place with excellent, tasty food and good, unobtrusive service from a nice staff. I met a friend for lunch there that I hadn't seen in a long time and they let us stay there and talk for a good while. Sweet.

Such a cozy place with great Apps and meats. Love coming here with my fam and it’s a great dinner spot for a group of friends! Tried the Sea bass for the first time and was nothing special, wouldn’t get it again for the price.

We have only visited the New Brunswick location. Love the atmosphere and all of the wait staff. Our go to is the octopus salad, the liver and some Turkish coffee to top it all off, and they have a wonderful selection of desserts. Too bad I don’t have any food pics.

Authentic Mediterranean food in the heart of the college town of Rutgers and New Brunswick. You will not go wrong with any of the appetizers or main course.

Efes serves Mediterranean cuisine with a lovely ambiance. Our favorite dishes are the Iskender Kabob, the gyro dinner, lamb shish, lamb adana kebab, and the Chicken Adana. For appetizers, we usually get the Eggplant Salad, Shepherd Salad or the Sigara Boregi. For dessert, the baklava is quite good, as is the pistachio cheesecake. The tea and espresso are a good choice. Parking is challenging with meter parking on the street, but there are some reasonable lots nearby.

Out favorite middle eastern restaurant in New Brunswick

Very tasty food, but I’m disappointed with the price and portion sizes. I ordered a lamb kebab and I paid $15 for 4 pieces of meat. It’s good food but it’s pricey and not enough. Update: Efes’ replies to negative reviews seem to be AI generated. If this is true, it just goes to show how much they care about their customers.

Very authentic Turkish food with quick and courteous service.

Unbelievable. Asked for a combination kebab. Got told no. Waiter asked another member of staff. Who did not understand why manger said no. When them was talking I went to chef who know my order without talking. Because I order for take away once a week. Never will I return because we found a fabulous Turkish around corner. September 2023 5* Visited the place to eat Mediterranean food in New Brunswick. This place is good. I tried Lentils Soup and Veg platter hummus. The food is amazing. The ambiance is nice and well decorated. For a group, you will need order 3 dishes.

I was really looking forward to trying this place since it’s close to me and has good reviews. I was so disappointed after ordering the “gyro doner”. I ordered a large without rice and fries and just got it with salad. It came with a 2 pita breads and some red sauce and tzatziki/white sauce. When I got home and opened the bag I was immediately disappointed at the size but still hoped for a win in flavor. Well the disappointment did not end. The meat was very bland and the sauces couldn’t add flavor because they also had no flavor. Both sauces were watered down versions of what they should have been. The tzatziki which should have been the consistency of yogurt was instead the consistency of milk. The salad was very basic. If they added some feta, it could have added some flavor. I spent $20 and still had to take the meat out, add it to a pan, and season it for it to be palatable. This also allowed for some pieces to get a little crispy which made it better. The pita bread was also very dry and needed a decent tzatziki to eat it with. Sadly, this place is a no for me.

Another brilliant Evening hosted by the boys at Efes. Can't fault anything really. They have a few new items on the menu also which I tried. All were fresh and extremely tasty

Good Mediterranian food from soups to coffee and desert is a good choice

Booked Efes restaurant via email for 10 people back in March for last weekend. On the day of the booking, i called the restaurant to confirm, couldnt really hear him, but he said yes, booking was fine. 1 hour later, the restaurant phoned to tell me that the restaurant was closed and they were only doing takeaways and our booking was cancelled. Very disappointed, apparently all the management had been sacked, not sure how true that is. Anyway, managed to book another Turkish restaurant in Dartford at such short notice and had a fantastic night. Bit annoying that no one could be bothered to contact me to let me know.

Love it here. It never fails to impress. The decor is amazing. The staff are friendly. It's spacious to accommodate large groups. I love that you get given complimentary bread and dips for the table. The kebabs are to die for. Can't wait to go back.

Myself and partner visited the restaurant on Friday 10th 2023 the food we had was lovely but that's as far it goes the restaurant was cold and uncomfortable the waiters would hover around you whilst you were eating constantly clearing away empty plates leaning across at your table which was totally out of order and in the process of still eating your stater your main course would arrive we both felt rushed I definitely would not recommend this restaurant too anyone will not be visiting again.

During March it is expected to be cold out but you’d think it might at least be warm in a restaurant! All night we were sitting in a wind tunnel, ridiculously cold with a very cursory, “The heating’s on but… “ from the waiter. TBF, the cold room matched the somewhat cool reception - on arrival we were greeted rather casually and with scant regard for our booking but then it was far from full so a randomly offered table made no odds… until we found we were in the direct path of the freezing blast through the front door! That said, the food was really tasty and adequate but maybe the bread did much of the ‘filling’, rather than the main course. My mixed shish was quite minimal with a few cubes of beef, chicken and lamb and a medium portion of rice - the meat was fine but the rice was curiously salty. I wasn’t hungry when I left although a more hearty eater would likely be as it was hardly a full plate. The service wasn’t very professional - leaning in front to serve on every occasion, placing plates wherever there was space without much consideration for where, delivering items and making a rapid exit wasn’t very customer friendly; certainly not delivering a second drink was poor, despite being offered and charged for one (I did get a second drink after I chased it up and they did remove the over-charge but had we not checked it would have added a fiver). Very nice food that left me comfortably replete and not an unreasonable charge but the cold experience and general lack of polish or attentiveness will not encourage me to return. Not my choice of venue following my last visit, about 2018, where I struggled with awful acoustics from hard surface tables and flooring, the absence of curtains, carpet or soft furnishings to absorb noise or reflected sound, so despite only 1/4 full was dreadful. Tonight was no better, albeit for quite different reasons but I’ll not be rushing back… at least not until the summer. Possibly 2028?

Efes Dartford, New Year’s Eve..... Great food, Brilliant atmosphere with a wonderful belly dancer to entertain diners. A really happy vibe and of course wonderful staff ..... rushed off their feet but still managing to be friendly and efficient. They do you proud Kazim!!!

My husband and I came for a quick meal before going to the theatre… We didn’t know what to expect as we haven’t eaten here before.. Wow, just wow… how lovely to be treated so respectfully. The staff are ‘old school’… meaning that they know how to treat guests. They are so attentive, nothing, and I mean nothing was too much for them. It was a delightful experience.. The food is honestly wonderful too. We left the restaurant with very full stomachs.. We would like to particularly recommend one of the waitresses.. I believe her name is ‘Sonata’… I’m so sorry if I’ve spelt it wrong ( she is from Lithuania and is working part-time).. she is simply superb!!! Efes is very lucky to have her.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was marvellous, brought on by the fantastic flavours of the food, and to the attentiveness of the staff.

Second time we have been here. No complaints. Food is excellent and lots of it!! Service is good. Very attentive but not overbearing. 10/10. Would recommend

We visited and first sat at the bar where we enjoyed mojitos and my friend had an Efes beer, the mojitos were lovely. We was then given some bread and humus to emit whilst we waited for a table and enjoyed the belly dancer! The food was lovely, the best chicken shish I’ve ever had, my friend was equally as pleased with the lamb donor. The atmosphere was great, friendly and some families enjoying their evening in there too. We found the waiters friendly and helpful as well as the owner Jem who is lovely! Ignore the negative reviews, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Efes and will be back again as well as already recommending it to friends and family. Thank you! Food quality is excellent...for take out call ahead. **that was 2 years ago!!** This lil smidgen of BS was $11! I've had comparable Hummus from a can and the falafel was salty and over done. (I was trying to be loyal...shoulda tried the new spots up the block) 3-8-22: One friend said his friends enjoyed the place, another friend said their quality has declined over the decade. I was there when the joint opened, so I'll give them a second chance. (Love for the original owners!)

Favorite Go To spot for a kebab sit down. Hummus and babaguse is good here as well. Everything I've tried here has hit the spot. A New Brunswick food haven. I usually get the mixed grill to share, lentil soup, and now they have a connecting Cafe so they have much more dessert options as well. Service here is also usually quick and on top of things.

Delicious mediterranean food. Lovely team. The upstairs is a very comfortable space that is warm and cozy, but not cramped. Highly recommend.

Nice Turkish spot in New Brunswick NJ. The food was pretty good and hit the spot. The inside upstairs was pretty nice too I love all the lamps and lights going up the stairs. The only thing that was kinda disappointing was the waitress wasn’t really good. She had a little attitude and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there working. I still left a $20 tip which I’m sure in these places are nothing special. Parking next to the restaurant isn’t that bad but the streets over here are very small. Kind of like a smaller version of parking in Brooklyn. Whenever I’m in New Jersey I’ll check this place out again. Hopefully they have better waitresses working.

One of a few businesses near downtown New Brunswick,NJ that we’re offering indoor dining during the pandemic lockdown.) Good Mediterranean dishes.

Was here twice in the past couple weeks. The first time dine in and absolutely great. The second time was delivery and an absolute mess. I ordered around 1:10pm online through the website. At about 2:30 I called to check on my order since it had not arrived. It turns out because of some mix up the food never got sent for delivery. Guy on the phone says no problem it'll get it right out. When the food arrives it's cold. The fries under the meat were soggy and felt like sponges of oil the salmon felt like an ice pack. I understand mistakes happen but for the $58 dollars we paid for a garden salad, salmon and gyro you should remake it if its been sitting. We also pre added a tip of $7 for food that came an 1hr 40 late. Completely unacceptable. You've lost a customer.

I was there at this restaurant on Dec 18th to celebrate my wife's b-day with my friends. The main waitress/cashier Ms. Sarah and the owner of this place were very rude. I was unknowingly charged extra for sharing the platter (which was not at all specified in the menu as well as verbally at the time of placing the order). Additionally, despite confirming me at the time of making a reservation to allow a small cake cutting at the end of the dinner, they refused to do a small cake cutting at the end and told us to take away the cake. Very rude and very un-professional service by them. This just spoilt our mood and the celebration!!!

Our first impression was that of a warm welcome, friendly and efficient service. Appetisers were served immediately we sat down. Our choices from the large menu were soon served and cooked to perfection. This is definitely in our ‘go to again’ list.

Got the cheese sticks and the eggplant app (the cheese sticks were feta in filo dough) I got the chicken yoghurt and my girlfriend got the lamb. Both were delicious and tender with nice tomato and chili garnish. The staff was attentive and friendly. I'm a big fan. Definitely going back for more!

Too expensive. They forced 20% gratuity for a lousy service. Salad was supposed to be free ended up paying $35 for salads that was on a small corner of the plate. Baklava on menu was $5 ... They charged $6... soda came in a can , we had to ask for a glass of ice....we had to ask for, water, napkins, sauce... etc ... With $40 tip the guy did not even say thank you. Horrible experience. Never again. $68/person. $220 for me, my wife and 3 kids for a pizza store setup. It's even less than a dinner. So sorry I was there.

Great restaurant and great flavors very well prepared food. The server was a bit upset during the dinner hours and was rolling his eyes. But I believe it may have been a long day for him since the restaurant was really busy. I feel the decor, the food should be given more than 5 stars

After getting a major surgery I was looking for healthy, nourishing, tasty food that was kind to my stomach. Several of my doctors and nurses in the ICU recommended Efes. I am so glad they did- the food fit the bill perfectly and was so delicious that we ordered it several times during our short stay in NJ. Every dish we got was excellent and nutritious. Our favorites: lentil soup, cacik, gyro sandwich, falafel in hummus, shepherds salad, and of course the delicious baklava.

My firstctime at Efes. Ambiance was authentic and not theatrical. Food was utterly delicious and very fresh. The place is pristine.The service was impeccable. You feel like a dignified guest dining there. Given all these attributes this restaurant has, one would think it might be - and deservedly - pricier but it was very affordable. Will be going there again and again as I would like to try many more dishes from their menu. The bonus is they catering which I will certainly try for my next event.
