Found this delightful cafe on Sunday and got lucky with the last table, we were originally looking for a full English breakfast however were informed that they were doing roast instead, we were glad they were! As we enjoyed our roast beef and roast pork which came with a wide selection of vegetables cooked to perfection... Just how we like them soft and not hard. The roast potatoes were perfectly cooked too, too many times you eat out and they are not crispy. I don't usually like marrow having tried it numerous times in the past, but the way they cooked this, I couldn't get enough of it! Only wish we lived closer, can see why it's so popular with locals! Lovely and friendly owner too.

Really, this is just an ordinary local cafe where (we had Sunday Lunch) locals seem to come regularly. Food was just about acceptable - there was plenty of it but the vegetables were overcooked (except the cauliflower cheese that was remarkably nice) and the pork was not freshly-roasted but very very thin sliced pre-cooked stuff. The only saving grace was the price which was on the low side. I suppose one gets what one pays for, but we would not return.

Adding yet again another review to highlight the delicious Sunday roast dinners served at Edwards restaurant . I have not cooked a Sunday roast at home for several years now preferring Kevin's cooking and Karen's cheerful banter whilst serving us. Also food is served fairly quickly which we like and the cost is very reasonable. One has a choice of a small or normal size plate with a good portion of a meat, chicken, lamb, or beef . There is an abundance of different vegetables to help yourself to.

Having got over Christmas and New Year, we decided it was time for a Sunday roast. As Edwards does the best roast dinner this side Neptune, it wasn't difficult to decide where to go. Yet another excellently cooked and presented roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings (apart from stuffing - don't like it - sorry Kevin, not your fault). The boss had roast pork, which she enjoyed so much, she couldn't manage a dessert (first time for everything!) All accompanied by Karen's witticisms. Brilliant.

Decided to have an early turkey roast to get into the Christmas spirit and this place did not disappoint. You’d be crackers not to try the roasts in the next decade, if you’ve not been in before. There was no room at this inn during the lunchtime service. Plenty of fresh cooked veg and lovely gravy to cover the pigs in their blankets.Xmas pudding to follow and then a small enhanced coffee with a mince pie.Fantastic. Sensible price for an excellent meal.

After a trip to the great Halesworth metropolis, the wife brought back (amongst other goodies) a Rocky Road slice and an Eccles cake. Given the choice, the boss chose the choccy one (imagine my surprise). However, (much to my delight) she couldn't eat it all!!! (surfeit of richness - bring it on!!). Consequently I had to eat both the Eccles cake and half the Rocky. Oh joy. Thanks Kevin - you're a star.

I had found Edwards on tripadvisor when we moved to the area as it has brilliant reviews for gluten free food and my husband is gluten intolerant. We finally got around to visiting last month and had a brilliant experience. The owners are friendly and warm, they really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was incredibly high quality and catering for my husband’s dietary needs wasn’t an issue at all. We absolutely loved our meal here and we will always chose to eat at Edwards when we fancy a day off from cooking ourselves! Highly recommend giving them a visit.

Unable to book for Sunday 4th August as Edwards was closed (Karen's birthday), we had to wait another week for our favourite roast. Well worth the wait. Tender beef and succulent chicken with plentiful tasty veg (don't forget the cauliflower cheese). Carry on like this and we’ll soon be regulars! Maybe not. I think that Edwards is a daily destination for some local folk, due to a combination of: good, tasty, plentiful food; great prices; a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. This time, I had roast beef whilst my wife had chicken. Both “Normal” size, which is extra large by most people’s standards. As last time, all was perfectly cooked and accompanied by carrots, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, green beans, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, a huge Yorkshire and a large personal jug of gravy! Oh and huge portions of beef and chicken. I had peach crumble and custard for pud. My wife had lemon meringue pie with cream. One pot of tea. Total? Just under £27. The food here is great, but the banter better still. Make sure you book well in advance. They only serve roast dinners on a Sunday and most tables are booked by the same regulars every week. I just wish we lived in Halesworth permanently as we’d definitely put ourselves down for a weekly booking. Give it a try. You’ll need a long Sunday afternoon walk afterwards to walk your excellent lunch off!

We’d read about Edwards on TripAdvisor and booked for Sunday lunch. Now be warned. If you don’t book, you won’t eat! On the menu is....well Sunday lunch, a roast dinner with chicken, beef or lamb....nothing else. But my, do they do it well! With your choice of meat, you get: carrots, green beans, cabbage, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and a jug of gravy (with free refills). That’s 7 veg, plus the pud and gravy! Now NORMALLY, you get a choice of a upgrading in a carvery to extra large. Here, you get a choice of NORMAL or SMALL. To explain, small is really large, and normal is really another word for HUGE! But ALL the bills are small. Small is £6.95 and normal is £8.75. I hope that’s clear! Whatever, we had 2 HUGE roast dinners with drinks for under £20. Is that normal for Suffolk? Who knows? All we know is that it’s a quirky tardis of a place. The frontage is about 8ft wide but when you’re inside, it goes back a long way. There are maybe 12 tables for 4. And they’re booked solid every Sunday. So....book well ahead to avoid disappointment. This place is ultra popular with local people. And justifiably so. Good, plentiful, tasty, well-cooked food. Good honest food with no frills. We both had the lamb which was superb. Loads of tender slices of meat. Don’t think normal. Don’t think big. Think HUGE....and then some! Now this is no posh restaurant with crisp linen tablecloths and poncy waiters. It’s sort of a cafe...PLUS. You can have a glass or a bottle of wine, or a beer. So...a small place with big portions of normal food?!?! Try it. Amazing sums it up. And great fun if you get chatting to Karen. You will definitely not be disappointed.....unless you forget to book well ahead that is.

Excellently prepared utilising Kevin's skills and presented accompanied by Karen's acerbic wit. Altogether an exhilarating experience best repeated. I didn't have room for dessert (although the leftovers were taken home for the dogs - they love it too), but she-who-must be-obeyed had a takeaway rhubarb crumble and custard; too weighty to eat in one sitting, she ate it in two - half an hour apart. Dunk the whole lot in the supplied gravy (beef and chicken flavour depending) and enjoy! All served to the accompaniment of Karen's wit (free entertainment). We were eyeing up the dessert menu, finding it hard to choose from all the options so the wonderful Karen offered us a half-portion of two puddings so we could sample both the Victoria Plum Sponge (with home-grown fruit) and the greengage crumble. It was absolute heaven. On balance I'd say the crumble won as I loved the sharp tang of the greengages but Kevin the chef really knows how to bake the perfect sponge. Run by a local family for over ten years this unpretentious little cafe takes some beating for wholesome local food .There are nice little attentioin to detail , like real teapots , and dont be afraid to ask for substitutions as the owners love you to eat what you like and give them back an empty plate .Leave some room for the desserts or maybe go for a walk around this delightful little town and pop back fro an delicious soft serve ice cream .

An absolutely delicious meal served by friendly, efficient staff in a homely atmosphere. The place was really busy, yet we were not hurried. Fresh vegetables, the steak and kidney pie was tender and the Cherry Pie just topped it of nicely along with a glass of Adnams cider.

Went to Edwards for Lunch on Thursday with my four year old granddaughter as this is a very child friendly restaurant. I ordered a cheese and salad sandwich . Oh my! what a feast was set before me. The bread was lovely and fresh and was filled with lovely cheese and loads of salad To my surprise this came with chips too. I was too full to eat a dessert which was a homemade Bakewell tart which I took away with me to eat later., The Bakewell tart was absolutely delicious and I am ashamed to say that I ate it all and did not share any with my granddaughter who said I was a naughty nanny for not sharing but I cannot resist Edwards food.

For all the haute cuisine restaurants in the world, sometimes I just want something that reminds me of growing up. Edwards ticks all the boxes. The menu is simple, but full of all your family favourites. Everything is freshly cooked and they use good local ingredients too. We opted for both the veggy and the beef Lasagnes. The meat version was superb, not sloppy and the quality of mince excellent. The veggy wasn't far behind and both came with a large helping of salad and chips. It's great value for money and the staff are lovely. Will defo return with my folks this time so we can compare home cooking !

A new venture for Edwards with a guest chef. Three really interesting mains to share, fish chowder, Thai prawn curry and a fish pie. The chowder was served in a crusty cob, really unusual but ever so tasty. A good curry and an excellent fish pie. The service as usual was entertaining and excellent (thank you Karen!). All of this lead to a wonderful meal in excellent company. We would thoroughly recommend it as an evening to anyone.

Lovely home cooked Sunday Lunch. The choice was chicken beef and lamb. Vegetables were served in dishes on the table all fresh and perfectly cooked. We had green beans, spring greens, carrots and cauliflower cheese. The roasties mash and Yorkshire served on your plate. Small or normal portions available followed by lovely home made desserts again small or normal portions. It was amazing value for money with great friendly service.

If you have a gluten allergy and are in the area, this is a must. Not only do they provide a great range of gluten-free options, they could not have been more helpful and friendly. Arrived late on Sunday and they went out of their way to help.

We moved into a nearby village 2 years ago and discovered that Edwards was open for Sunday lunch, this has become so popular now it's important to book early. There is a choice of regular or large meals depending on your appetite, all freshly prepared and cooked to a very high standard. A particular highlight is the selection of desserts on offer. If I am i town on any other day then I will choose the beautifully prepared English breakfast with a choice of fried, scrambled or poached eggs. The poached eggs are done perfectly, and it all comes with a large pot of tea. Thoroughly enjoyable. There's always a warm welcome, with plenty of cheerful banter and excellent service from Karen and her staff.

We had a wonderful home cooked Sunday lunch at this friendly family run restaurant. The home cooked food and 'proper' gravy was delicious and the portions extremely generous and extremely good value for money. Its a great little family run eating place which is very very popular so although booking is advised its worth asking just in case! We also experienced their Italian hot chocolate!! Deeeeelicious!!! Thoroughly recommended.

We stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant when we were exploring the town on a Sunday. So popular that booking is essential for an assured table on a Sunday, we were extremely lucky it turns out to get a little table for two as a walk in on our first visit. The offer here is Roast Beef,Chicken and whatever other meat happens to be available the vegetables are perfectly presented in individual dishes and the gravy yum!The ladies who work in here are good fun, anecdotes shared about the regulars and advice on parking issues all offered freely. We were so impressed we both agreed that Edwards would feature as a regular trip out in our MG this summer, in fact just booked the last two seats for lunch today. Can't wait!

On learning that five bean chilli was on the menu, my wife wanted a takeaway. King prawn tikka masala was also available, so that was for me. Karen made sure the meals were ready to collect on time. Both meals were excellently cooked, and went down a treat. The eccles cakes were an impulse purchase and they were great too!
