Ebi's Lanark in South Lanarkshire

Great food and service. Three of us had something different and each dish was lovely. Our dishes were salmon, penne con carne and pizza. Also my daughter greatly appreciated the milkshake.

We attended the restaurant today for our Xmas lunch 4 adults We had booked this in advance so you knew we had booked the table the meal we received was below standard for any establishment of any sort. Cheap ingredients and lack of knowledge on how too “prepare “ basic ingredients such as roast “tatties” clearly overcooked and dried out As for the chicken not turkey with all the trimming well we got cold over cooked chicken having worked in the catering and hospitality industry for many years i know a standard of “cleanliness is a must” In any establishment and having poor preparation of food is so frowned upon within the trade. I told the waiter about the cold food he took it back into the kitchen and put in straight into the “chef” microwave as you can now imagine the chicken was not only super hot it was like a brick! So after pointing this out too the waiter again . I never eat it at all “waiter comments I guess you didn’t enjoy this” I many add there was no mash tattie either and I. Requested both any now too the sweet “chocolate orange fudge cake” Well orange sponge more like And no ice cream again said to waiter nothing done about this we paid and left but I can assure you I will never be back in this establishment ever again “shocking” Is the only way I can describe how this has went. I wouldn’t recommend this place too the “street rats”that are probably around the back of the shop. Please please avoid!!!! And this experience cost us £102 of our hard earned pounds

Always does a good pizza. The blonde girl that works in there is always helpful and on the ball. Give her a wage rise 👍

An interesting experience - on arrival the waitress managed to smash a glass then we ordered a two course meal with a tea and a soft drink (I asked for diet irn bru but apparently the order hadn’t arrived). The soup eventually brought over (20 minutes after the order was placed) and while not a large portion it was excellent (half way through the soup our bread rolls appeared). There was then another crash but we couldn’t see what had been broken this time. We had ordered two haddock and chips with mushy pease and upgraded one of these to breadcrumbs. When this arrived it was two unbreadcrumbed fish - I brought to the servers attention and she went spoke to a manager who instructed her to tell me that breadcrumbs weren’t on the menu - I told her that it actually was and that I expected the breadcrumbs, my fish was taken away. We had to asked for our mushy peas The main course was good although by the time my replacement fish appeared the chips were cold Another customer tripped over the wet floor sign that had been left lying against the wall When I went to pay the server asked for almost £45, which I questioned - she recalculated the price it was about £10 less Incidentally the diet irn bru that hadn’t apparently hadn’t been delivered - the fridge in the payment area was full of the stuff Could have been so much better - probably we won’t be back

Ordered chips, cheese, donner meat and sauce. waited over an hour and they only gave me chips and cheese. Phoned them and said I didn't get the right order, they said they would send some donner meat out, I asked then if they could just remake the full order as the chips they gave me are cold, the woman on the phone huffed and it sounded like it was an inconvenience to them, she said fine. Waited for them to bring it and the donner meat was dry and tough like it was old stuff that had lay for ages, did not eat it, it went in the bin. Would not recommend

Waited 2 hrs for food, phoned 4 times, they did it was chaos , tipped delivery driver, not his fault , don’t bother

Went back after saying I wouldn’t 😂 Food still not nice think that’s all I need to say about the food or it would just be a rant .Girl server is very nice but never asks how meal or food is as I think she knows 😂Think it is a wee gold mine going to waste as it’s lovely and and comforting inside just lacks the good food experience (shame)😩

Four middle-aged friends stopped off here for lunch after a great walk up to the Corra Linn Waterfall, and it was quite a good experience. The café looked very inviting when we walked in and we were really hopeful of a great meal in nice surroundings. We sat down and the waitress was soon at the table with menus, and not long after arrived back to take our orders. Now I said lunch, but all four of us decided on the full breakfast as it looked to be a good choice in terms of price and selection of items. The meal was soon brought to the table and was really well presented, but was let down by the fact that everyone's beans we're not hot at all, and for this I've knocked a point of the overall score. Luckily the beans were on the plates in individual dishes, so were taken back to the kitchen to be reheated. Everything else on the plate was good quality, warm and tasty, and the beans were soon brought back to add to the good fayre. I would use this café again and would recommend it as, apart from the cold beans, the food was first class, the prices very reasonable, service extremely efficient and just a nice place to relax and eat a meal.

Been going to Ebi' s , Lanark, several times a year for along time. Normally happy with quality of food. But today, ordered ' special fish' which is fish fried in breadcrumbs rather than battered. Long time to be served, fish when it arrived, was dry and tasteless. Convinced it wasn't fried, but rather baked in an oven. And I know what frozen breadcrumb fish tastes like. That's what this was. Very disappointing that a traditional fish and chip shop would serve frozen fish. Puts me off ever going back. Plus factors, nice coffee and pleasant service.

Wandered into Ebi's early evening. The food was reasonably priced and was very good As mentioned before the decor adds to the ambience. Staff were very attentive and friendly, so yeas, if ever back in Lanark again I'd definitely return

Staff have poor attitude. Poor service. Continue to overcharge you despite prices been clearly displayed. Delivery service is not recommended . Orders usually involve a long wait, and 9/10 times is usually wrong food delivered.

Do not use this shop for delivery !!! Waited three hours for delivery despite being told it would only be 45 mins ! After two hours I phoned again and was told that it had just left the shop to travel two miles to me ? After three hours and 145 attempted phone calls I drove to the shop and the staff asked me to pay full price for an unheated bag containing the cold original order. I was then approached by the manager who was very arrogant and told me that my postcode didn’t exist !! This was despite them delivering two orders in the past week !!!! He also admitted that he switches the phone off to stop people phoning in !!!! Do yourselves a favour and go to Valerios instead, a proper chop shop where the customer actually matters !!!!!!

The restaurant has had a big refurbishment, both in furnishing and menu. Big changes all round. Seems to have a regular client group, so that can only be a good sign. Typical Lanark re car parking, it is limited

What a wonderful experience my friends and I had at the beautifully refurbished ebis restaurant in lanark today.We had the three course menu and it was superb. Our whole experience was from start to finish just a joy. Staff in the restaurant were so lovely, professional and went out of their way to ensure our every need was met. They had a great understanding of the menu including the very good selection of teas available, which you can buy a bag to take home. The food was well presented and very tasty with good portion size. Gone are the tired decor and shabby furniture and now a cosy and modern place to eat. Highly recommended for an all round enjoyable dinning experience. Definitely our new favourite go to for good value and an excellent service.

Waited 80minutes for a 45 minute delivery. They called to say they were busy with no apology and unable to give a discount

Ordered a small sausage supper as large portions are usually massive in other chip shops. I was wrong, it was more like a kids supper. Don’t want to know how small the kids portions actually are. Went to eat my sausage and it was the worst thing I had ever tried. Felt and tasted raw. Really didn’t enjoy it at all and wasn’t work the money :(

Great service and value for money. The soup of the day (minestrone) was delicious followed by special fish and chips ( perfectly cooked ) They're licensed too.

Have had a couple of meals from here when in Lanark. I don't know why but the chips tasted nicer tham in the Carluke branch and the batter was definitely crisper.

On a day trip to lanark we decided to get something to eat went in to a Chinese but they were closing was a bit disappointed but saw a chippy across the street so decided to get a carry out but as we crossed the road we saw it had a seating area so went there . There was about 8/9 tables plenty of room between them and it felt cosy . Great selection of food on the menu and great table service when our food arrived we were surprised by the portion size and all at a very reasonable price thanks to the Chinese for closing or we wouldn't have found our new no1 chippy

Had a great carry out, the fish was excellent along with the fabulous chips. Definitely will visit next time we are in Lanark.

Frequently visit this restaurant which also has a take away. Good for an everyday type of meal when it suits rather than cooking at home. Extensive menu all very reasonably priced. The jacket potatoes with prawns are a great choice! Service is pleasant and friendly. Interior is basic but for the money we can't fault it.

I ate here once. Veg Pakora starter with real pizza and chips for the main. Nice food, nice service. I will eat here again next year

Charged £1.90 for bottle of coke, never arrived. Fish batter not crispy but soggy. Battered Mushrooms cold and horrible. Chips full of black bits. Everything lukewarm or cold.

Went here tonight for a fish and when I went into the shop they asked me what I would like I asked for a single special fish I was then asked if I would like (large) meaning 2 fish I said no just 1 fish then got served 1/2 a fish soaked in vinegar, bit of a rip off and will not be back!!!!!!

Took my half brother who is from abroad to Ebis and he tried the pizza crunch supper for the first time. He absolutely loved it and has tried making it at home. Very friendly staff and attentive. Made us both feel really welcomed and went out their way to cook our food from a separate fryer and not the shared one with meat. Thank you.

Good standard for a takeaway meal. Prices are reasonable and staff are helpful and efficient - although they could try and smile a wee bit more 😊😊😊

Went for lunch and was the worst I have ever had, won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend. I did complain and got the breakfast for free as it was cold and the tea never arrived till 15 mins after the food.Staff were working hard and were pleasant but the owner was more interested in flaffing over a table where his relatives were sitting while the orders piled up on the counter. Young female staff member apologised while the owner just muttered something at me then walked away. Won’t be back.

I visited this Fish and Chip Shop in Carluke , after leaving my belongings in my local Bed and Breakfast - and went to get a takeaway after a long 10 hour day in an Operating Theatre doing anaesthetics - in Wishaw General Hospital - I was VERY impressed with the delicious Fish and Chips and above all , you get for just £ 6.15 TWO huge pieces of fish and loads of lovely chips , despite the fact I was starving , I barely finished my meal , and never felt hungry the whole night -

All I can say is DISGUSTING!!! The food is vile, majority of staff look like a smile would crack their faces. And to top the lot they refuse to deliver to somewhere 10 mins away. AVOID!!!!

Ordered a cheese tomato pizza, great pizza sauce and very cheesy. The pizza base was fresh and excellent a bit closer to deep pan than thin and crispy. Will defo be back and would recommend the pizzas to anyone and next time I will be ordering with some toppings

Tried this chippy while passing through lanark and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Again passing we were going to have food there but the sitting in area was just closing so we had a takeaway which was freshly made . Staff were pleasant and prices not bad. Well done e is, we will be back.

Visit Ebis often fresh cooked food and reasonably priced with a good menu to suit everyone. The staff in the cafe are lovely and helpful. It's clean easy access on the High street.

Myself and my hubby went in for lunch, we sat in and it was very pleasant. My hubby had chipsteak and chips and i had a fish tea, was very nice. The young waitresses were very nice and very pleasant. Was very enjoyable.

My family ate lunch here during our recent visit to Lanark. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were generous and the Wi-Fi was strong. A lovely experience overall.

Had special fish one night. Greasiest food ever. It really looks super clean and efficient but food not very good and rather expensive for what you get.

Sometimes when we go the food, cleanliness and service is amazing. But other times it is shocking. Disappointing.

this evening I had food in this cafe as always appears busy.Ww used to eat there often. tonight we sat and looked above us. and couldn't believe the amount of cobwebs and dirt above our heads. and on window ledges next to where we were eating. I went to toilet this also needs a good clean. environmental health need to pop in to the cafe area. and Ebis need to employ a cleaner. Won't be back I'm afraid.

Our family has been a regular customer of Ebi's for years, unfortunately this is no longer the case. We try to avoid it as much as possible nowadays and since there is another fish n chip shop local we rarely head back which is a shame. Ebi's had a change in management a while back and since then standards have slipped. We've had issues of long waits for food, substandard meals, upset stomachs and shocking service from staff this year to name a few. One of my personal pet hates is dirty glasses and cutlery, this happens all to often nowadays which really let's the place down. The worst however is the staff giving you glasses for drinks and holding your glass by the rim which is one of the biggest and basic "No No's" in the cafe/restaurant trade. As a customer you no longer receive straws or ice in drinks unless you specifically ask for it which should be a given in my book and the cafe just seems rather dirty nowadays. On our last visit the cafe was rather busy and I looked inside to see if there was a free table for our family of 4, there wasn't, but a friendly member of staff retrieved us from turning away saying we will fit you in, just a second. He then looked at all the tables where 4 could be seated, bypassed and few where 2 people (sitting at a 4 person table) could be moved to a 2 person table and proceeded (to our dismay and horror) to remove an elderly lady from a 2 person table who had a walking frame to a restricted access table behind a pillar where she couldn't sit or manoeuvre easily. The lady in question then left abruptly and totally dismayed leaving us feeling extremely embarrassed about the whole affair. It was essentially a nice thing the staff was trying to achieve and could have asked a non elderly couple to move to a smaller table rather than a disabled elderly lady. It doesn't take much brains to run that place but evidently the management really couldn't give a fox what goes on there anymore.

Went for dinner with family, out of 5 meals 4 meals were disgusting...lamb kebab meat cold, beans cold and swimming in juice, chicken kebab tasteless and not nice, baked potatoes dried up as must have been lying for ages, bright green in colour (waitress agreed). A total disgrace to put this down to people and charge good money. The only positive was one of the meals.. a fish tea was ok. Have went here for years when in lanark and always soaked up the atmosphere of the old chippy cafe feel but now downhill and dirty...surprised no one has mentioned the dirty toilets!!! Come on clean up and decorate a little...a dirty bar of soap with mould on it lying in the sink....2017...a liquid soaps under one pound. No toilet roll and had to bring son back out to ask. Usually easy to please but definitely wont ever be back...2 people in our group had upset stomachs that night.....only interested in taking your money!!! It was that bad this is first negative review I have written. Another thing that annoyed me was an elderly couple sat down at a table and were quickly told they had stopped serving food, the couple looked on at the time n said we've still 10 minutes, the waitress said oh they were stopping early tonight as been busy....a few minutes pass n another 2 customers come in and the waitress agreed to serve them!...shame but probably man and his family will spend more.....shocking vulgar place!!!!

Staff always take time to welcome you . Good friendly atmosphere and food reasonably priced . Good selection and ideal for younger children .

Went in to Ebi's for lunch today with my daughter in law and granddaughter we ordered lunch twenty minutes later I went into adjoining cup shop to ask where our meals were I made them aware that two people had walked out I returned to restaurant there was only one waitress to cover around ten tables the tables were filthy too One lady got a soft drink in a large glass she asked for a smaller one and was told they don't have any the tea I had was cold as it was served 10 minutes before meal lasagne was all dry too Poor service won't be back young girl tried her best poor management this place will never last

We have been here a few times and thoroughly enjoyed everything that we ordered. It is also good that one can get Seniors meals at very reasonable prices

My mum and I are regular visitors to this chippy and have had no issues.... until today. There was one server on who had clearly no idea how to do her job. The fact she was walking around as slow as ever whilst the full place was busy is a joke. People were sitting more than 20 minutes without a menu never mind even being asked for a food order. The other server who remained behind the bar stood polishing cutlery when she could have been out serving, taking orders, but would rather stand and pretend to work. Not good enough! This must be improved before we will return. Shocking experience from an amazing place.... get the finger out!

Had Fish & Chips at Ebi's Always fresh and made to order. 1st class Chippie ! Well worth a visit the staff are very friendly and the food is amazing

I waited 10 minutes for service. I left after this because there did'nt seem to be any chance of getting served. I have been going in regularly for a few weeks now and the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Good Chippie food with variety of modern fast foods. Sevice great if Claire is working fast and efficient.

Called to place an order and the attitude of the staff was atrocious, clearly there was a bad line on the phone the girl on the phone was rude rather than saying pardon she just moaned and then hung up the phone twice with no warning to then grump when we called back with better signal saying she couldn't hear a thing! Tried the then call back and cancel and it was user busy for 7 minutes straight.

this a fish shop restaurant but has an extensive menu. high chairs. wine. table service. the service is good but not to fast as the food comes fresh. the only thing that takes it down is its toilets. they are run down and not clean/ smelling. the restaurant could do with a freshen up as well. but it is always busy.

The prices of the food was very reasonable. I found the quality and the quantity of the food very good as well. I had the soup of the day (Chicken Broth) and a club sandwich, which was very filling.While the decor wasn't particularly exciting (and the toilets need a complete revamp) I found it a rather good place to come for lunch on the way to New Lanark.

Well, the previous visit I was disappointed, but popped in for a take away with my son, and was delighted. The chips were much better, better cooked, and tastier. The sausages were not greasy. Much improved, and we'll done Ebis

I got 2 fish with my fish supper but the soggy batter simply cloaked the painfully thin fish inside. I found this chippie overpriced and very much an average takeaway. Next time I'm hungry I won't be coming here

Food standards are slipping somewhat, and the prices are creeping up quite a lot. Forgot our juice on the family meal. We never complained, so can't really comment on how they would have sorted it out. On a plus point, the mixed kebab was delicious, but very expensive

Visited Ebi's while in Lanark with family. Was a fairly busy night but the service was efficient if not overly friendly. We were a group of 4 adults and ordered a fish supper each. The portion sizes were huge: 2 fish and a large quantity of chips. The fish was cooked in a rather soggy batter and while it was edible, it was not particularly great. The chips were average. I would rather pay the same and receive a higher quality fish supper with only one piece of fish. I would do my best not to eat again from here as there are better take away meals available in Lanark.

Fish was soggy and tasted like it was cooked 2 hours ago. Bit pricey for a chippy. Pizzas are lacking in cheese. And the wait is way too long!

Ordered and paid for a take-away meal online at 6.50 pm, was told it would be delivered by 7.30pm. Still waiting for delivery at 8pm so calls the shop only to be told they were very busy. Still no food by 8.30. Call the shop and ask to speak to person in charge and explain to him that I had made an order almost 2hours ago, his reply was ' yes, what's wrong with that ?' I was livid and told him to cancel the order and reimburse my money to me, he stated I could get it back online, when I tried to do this it states that money will be returned only within 45 minutes of ordering so had to phone back to shop again when I was told that I would have to call back in the morning and speak to Mr Ebi himself. Never again will I or family members use this place, It's obvious they think more of their 'sitting-in' customers than they do of their 'calling- in customers'.So be warned, don't phone Ebis if you want your meal on the same day you ordered it. And we live just 10 minutes away from Lanark.

The food and the service was excellent. The locality is easy to find and parking was just out the front.

We arrived later in the day and wanted a casual place to grab a bite. We had a pizza and "red Kola". the pizza was good - but note to self - don't order red kola. :)Our server was not too interested - but the gal behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. It was a nice place to relax and get something to eat. Being Vegetarians it was hard to find too much on the menu.

The food is edible , soft drinks tend to be flat .I find the staff extremely disrespectful especially to the elderly and less able .Perhaps some in house training required ? I personally witnessed a member of staff being rude to a mother holding a young baby .If looking for a decent chip shop with professional staff try Valerios

Ebi's is a great place to go for a spot of lunch in their cafe or for a takeaway next door. The staff are friendly and the service is as good as the food. It's a busy place which says a lot for the food they serve and they make the best pizza in Lanark.

Firstly I live in Lanark and I can honestly say ebi's is by far the best chip shop takeaway ! I have sat in during my lunch real from work with friends & we hve had large takeaways to our work & always very good ! However my special fish supper my husband brought me in during the week was one of the best and tasty to date !! I know £6 might seem a lot of money but you only get what u pay for my fish was like a whale , but I will say as a frequent customer if you hve a problem the owner is only to please to rectify it and free of charge which happened to us once before so I hve no complaints everywhere can hve an off day ! Over all the best in Lanark !!

Food is simply tasteless, no matter how much money you spend you want to enjoy what you've bought. Pizza was wafer thin and hardly any cheese on it.

I visited Ebi's a few times now. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always great and good value too. I had a bbq chicken kebab-it was fantastic very tasty.Liked the chips too.

Party of the Ebis fish shop this little restaurent is a welcoming rest place which not only serves God food but also a friendly atmosphere with staff who provide s good standard of service.The menu is what you would expect and you can dodo order anything from the shop menu such as kebabs and pizzasAll of the food is freshly prepared , hot and tasty. Prices are very reasonable ... Special Fish is really Sorcual and the Chilly Haggus is nice and warm tasting .. If in Lanark give it a try

Firstly the prices are extortionate! So I expected good food for the prices. However the fish supper was appalling. The batter on the fish was so soggy! Not crispy in the slightest! The mushy peas have a vinegary taste to them as though they've been made with vinegar and I could've counted my chips on one hand! The scampi was ok. The whole 7.5 peices. Overall it was too greasy. Too soggy and well overpriced and overrated. Will not be back!

We were going to get a take away from here but decided to sit in when we realised they had tables. Kids were keen to try a donner kebab after listening to one being described at a party the night before! It was actually really tasty, nicely presented with two kinds of salad. Chips were nice too and a very pleasant and attentive waitress. Good value.

go regularly for sausage supper after work, really good, always fresh made chips and not greasy, good portion sizes, very good value and service, definately reccomend, has a bit to sit in and eat during the day too but usually i just get take away or delivery , only thing about delivery was they asked me to order via just eat and i was a bit inconvinienced to be honest, not sure if this is their policy? what if you dont have internet avail.

This chip shop is the best in Lanark. Food is always hot and I have never had a bad meal. Haggis is to die for if you like it. The sausage suppers great too. Been in the resuraunt and the food was great too

Never disappointed with the quality of all food prepared. Fast and efficient service and great range of take-away food on their menu.Very good value for money.

Love ebis as a take away ... pizzas made to your specification and really tasty... all chip shop food is equally as nice... lovely staff nothing is a problem

Chips are great in here however the fish can be a hit or a miss! Overall food very nice both to sit in or take out.
