Eat 17 in Waltham Forest

We bumped into this better of a place by chance and honestly this is top 👌 !! We had breakfast and coffees and honestly we both agreed this os one of the best quality breakfasts and coffee we've had. Amazing value for money, super fresh, deliciously made food...the bacon is simply fantastic! Service was quick and very friendly, the place is beautiful and welcoming. Can't recommend hight enough, will be back next time back in London

This was my second visit in 5 months, sadly not as good as the first. The menu has altered drastically and lacks innovation and flair. The offerings were basic and uninteresting. What we had was OK. The draught beer is served in 2/3 of a pint which makes it expensive per pint.

Great fresg tasty food. No dogs allowed in restaurant, only the bar.

The only down side to this place is that it is card only. We should care for cash more as soon we will be ripped off it completely. Otherwise great food and service,thank you .

We ate here today as a family group. We had the sausage and egg in a bun and avocado and bacon on sourdough. Really tasty and freshly made. Tasty coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. A big thank you to our friendly and helpful waiter Michael. Will definitely be eating here again.

A good restaurant to please yourself on vacation with delicious seafood dishes and royal service. We celebrated my birthday here with a small company, and everyone is glad that they chose this particular restaurant.

Warm & Friendly Staff , Comfortable vibe Super food and very reasonable priced Had a great experience on our date night - its our 2nd visit the first was just drinks and the food looked mazing so we booked it was easy to do so online and we arrived early was met offered drinks a place to sit waited a few minutes and we were sat at our table, we were not left for more than a few minutes water and menus arrived with our drinks. food once we order as delivered in food time and was cooked very very well hot and fresh. very very nice dining to break my diet too.

This establishment only allows dogs outside and in one section only, at the front. However it was the hosts reaction to us arriving with our dogs that I take exception to! He looked liked like I had walked in with a bunch of zombies and barked at me ‘No dogs allowed!’ Management you need to train your staff on etiquette and manners. Poor!!

I genuinely cannot believe they served us raw chicken wings. They were chargrilled on the outside and completely raw halfway. Manager was arrogant and unapologetic. Thats a completely unacceptable and seriously dangerous! Will definitely not go back and play Russian Roulette again.

A place you must see; it's usually bustling, has excellent coffee, and its brunch is too amazing to miss. Nice staff, vegan/vegetarian friendly, and our veggie breakfast was the best 👍

Always busy and rightly so - food is amazing here! Can't recommend the chicken burger enough, I've had a fair few in my life and these guys do it better than anyone else by miles.

Gorgeous food and lovely wait staff. Visited with my dog, and the only dog friendly area is at high tables by takeaway counter meaning on a busy day, there is a lot of noise and distractions disrupting the atmosphere. I’m assuming based on food and service that the main part of the restaurant is lovely but if visiting with your pup, I’m not sure I would recommend.

Decent modern European/international fare. Nothing that will blow your socks off — but that is by no means necessarily a bad thing. Quite expensive for what it is. Decent veggie selection.

We came here for my partners' parents wedding anniversary and the service we received was exceptional. The food itself was as good as always but the staff went out of their way to make us feel special.

Such a lovely lunch here - waiting staff were warm and kind, as well as efficient. Food was excellent, felt home cooked and hearty portion sizes. The restaurant was very busy but still clean, even the loos. Thanks to all involved whether front of house or behind the scenes.

Excellent food. Chorizo, chickpea and spinach soup was fantastic. My main was a duck breast with red cabbage and lyonnaise potatoes- very good. My wife wanted a lighter main and ordered the grain salad- this came up very large - bigger than all of the other main courses we saw - and was full of carbs - so not a light salad! Only slight negative was that as we were the early evening (7:30) - we were served very quickly whilst the tea time crowd were leaving. This rather rushed our time to enjoy the retro music and soak up the local vibe.

We live in Walthamstow and go to Eat 17 from time to time and always really enjoy it. It's a nice, relaxed bistro-y vibe and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food is always great. They do classic which are well executed and them dishes which offer creativity and playfulness with flavours, but never in too whacky a way. Lovely coffee as well! I also think it's very reasonably priced.

Went there for a roast last night after a really bad experience in another pub an hour before. EAT17 accommodated us last min, the staff was so friendly and attentive and the roast was one of the best I've had. I've also been for brunch which was very good too. Definitely recommend!

Could not fault this restaurant which benefits from being in an attractive road (Orford Road) away from the main shopping eating areas in Walthamstow. The whole appearance of the restaurant is attractive, warm, welcoming and relaxing. Front of house and the waiting team were excellent – courteous, efficient and very professional …they really know what they are doing. We didn’t have a booking (on a Saturday early evening) but we were soon seated and menus delivered. The meal we had here was the best that we have had in recent times at similarly positioned/marketed restaurants. I like to think of myself as a good amateur restaurant critic and in so many places there is reason to be critical but not on our visit here. I could have happily eaten any dish on their quite extensive menu – it was quite a difficult decision to choose one dish over the others. I was particularly impressed that this restaurant hasn’t chosen to do the far too common ‘classics’. We shared a starter of Korean Sticky Pork Ribs which was done very well, was delicious and the portion size was plenty for 2 people. For mains my partner had the grilled duck breast and I had the chicken burger – I usually avoid burgers in restaurants because they can often be quantity over quality/flavour but I had a good feeling about what I would get here and I can happily say this burger was excellent. Their drinks menu also offers something more interesting than most other restaurants/pubs we have been to. We thought the whole meal represented good value for the service and the quality of the meals. Well done Eat 17 – thanks for a great dining experience. We highly recommend you to others.

Brilliant place, very helpful staff and great atmosphere 👍

We went here for a roast lunch but unfortunately it was a little disappointing. Yorkshire pudding was a dry crispy rock-hard stone and the only vegetable was cabbage? Come on. No carrots or sprouts or broccoli or cauliflower? Sad times. The chicken was decent though to be fair. Underneath the chicken were rock-hard roast potatoes. And that was it. Nothing else. If you’re going to charge £19 for this, at least make sure it’s of good quality or has variety? The worst part though was the apple crumble for dessert. It had the texture and taste of leftover apple sauce. It was a watery mess. This is 2 years in a row now so it’s not a one-off. Such a shame that the quality control is just not there. Maybe I’ll try a 3rd time and that will seal the deal?

Loved the vibe of this place, parmesan chips were delicious. However the chicken burger, I wish I had sent it back, it has an extremely strong seasoning in the coating of the chicken, which I can only feel tastes like curry powder, which was a bit of a hame as everything else was lovely

Our son lives around the corner from the restaurant and we have dined here multiple times when I have visited. The menu always offers plenty of choice with some interesting combinations. Last night we both enjoyed different dishes and all were excellent. I had the scallops with crispy belly pork followed by sea trout, both absolutely outstanding. The basque cheesecake following was fabulous. So much so I’m attempting to produce a replica on Saturday. We shall see!! Staff always efficient and pleasant.

Wanted to sit on a table in the backyard with my girlfriend but we were literally "ordered" to sit on a specific table instead by the rudest waiter I have ever seen. Then Initially lied about those tables being already reserved. When we confronted him why the table we originally wanted to sit doesn't have "reserved" sign like other tables, we were told: "I wanted you to sit here so we don't want to clean up a mess on a further distance table!". I have been told this waiter is a senior employee there. I was a waiter myself. I have never ever seen this level of arrogance in service industry. I see many other similar reviews. With it's service quality, I'm sure this place will eventually catch it's real reputation.

This is a terrific neighbourhood restaurant with good food and good service. Had the goats cheese pie and scallops to start and the flat iron steak for main.

After trying for steak and ale pie here it's clear that anything on this menu is going to be a safe bet. My companion's poached egg, bacon and avocado on toast was also a cut above the average.

Atmospheric restaurant situated in the village of Walthamstow with friendly service and good food. I selected the hake cooked with curried chick peas and spinach. It was baked to perfection with a subtle but not overpowering curry flavour. It was a generous portion and presented well. Worth a return visit!

The food is sensational. The duck ragu is an endless cloud of gnocchi and the most flavorful sauce.

Always, always get the delivery wrong on Deliveroo. And Deliveroo are useless and never organise for items to be sent if missing.

Seemingly going downhill with the service. Have visited here a few times, first time the food and service were both fab, second time the food was still lovely but service was very poor. This time we arrived to see if they had space for a walk-in for 4 (early morning so not very busy in the restaurant yet), there were 2 ladies on the bar and both didn’t even bother to acknowledge any of us. Then a waiter through in the restaurant section also saw us waiting and didn’t bother coming over. We stood there for another few minutes before we gave up. Food and atmosphere in the place has always been great but service seems to be going very downhill which is a shame

This place is so nice, we ventured out from our NW6 local area to see what Walthamstow had to offer. Located in the “village”, an enclave of lovely little restaurants and shops only 3 minutes walk from the tube and the hustle and bustle. Our waitress Lauren was fantastic, she’s so kind and really listens to the customer, something rare these days. The menus offer something for everyone and we had burrita, bread, sirloin and mushroom ravioli. Very well executed to preference. The interior is a modern take on an Italian osteria, low ceilings and cozy. Top scores from us globetrotters!

Truly delightful meal. We had the watermelon salad, which was a suprising delight. We had heard the chicken burger was good, but that under sells it. It is simply one of the best chicken burgers you will ever have. The only slight disappointment was the grapefruit margarita, which was far too sweet. Highly recommend thos place.

First time at the restaurant with a friend to celebrate her birthday. Was told by the waiter that the window we asked for is a table for 3 and it had to be reserved. Two women behind came in and the table was given to them 🤷🏽‍♂️. The ravioli was mediocre, no halal option. Overrated place.

Awesome bistro on a lovely pedestrianised street. I had sausages in a brioche bun, with breakfast sauce, which was utterly delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended.

Stopped for lunch after visiting God's own junkyard. We all ordered the sunday roast meat. Very disappointing. My family all agreed to rate it 3 out of 5. Meat was undercooked, hard to cut and chew. Not a good option. There are other restaurants and pubs nearby.

Great service but food was disappointingly lazy when we went. Risotto was not made with risotto rice, flavour lacking and presentation poor. Brownie was not as described and was quite dry (given plain brownie and vanilla ice cream, menu said raspberry and chocolate brownie and chocolate ice cream). Pre-made pastry case with the tart. Cheapest wine by glass not available and no alternative offered. All very expensive for what was. A real shame!

The waiter waited for us to order , we were three of us, I said I wanted to wait and order after because I hadn’t decided yet he emphasised “NO” that is not possible you have to order together, I don’t understand I’ve never been told this before at ANY restaurant?! Otherwise the food was okay , nothing special but the service for the price , nothing.

Delicious meal out for a weekend lunch at Eat 17, everything we ordered was delicious and the staff were friendly. The miso cod with the aubergine was so good, and the pea risotto was one of the best risottos I've had and was so silky. We will definitely return

Almost an exemplar neighbourhood bistro. Has a menu of imaginative dishes alongside excellent standards for steak, salads and the like. Extensive seating inside, as well as on the pavement and in a courtyard at the back. Wi-Fi doesn’t seem to work.

Lovely little place in the village, the food is nice, but nothing special however lovely vibes on a summer's day, with a nice garden and outside seating area! Staff are lovely and helpful and i'd return!

I booked table online. Upon arriving we waited for 5 minutes at the entrance but were repeatedly ignored by the Maitre d' and his staff. I was required to go inside to the till area in order to inform the staff of our arrival and to request we be shown our table. This type of incident can be forgiven if the restaurant was acutely busy but from my observations it was at best only 10% occupied at the time of our arrival. We ordered a watermelon salad, which at £10 consisted of 1/8 of a small watermelon, tiny splashes of feta and some baked peppers. It was as tasty as semi fresh chunks of watermelon and feta can be. The basque cheesecake itself was acceptable but sadly it was absolutely tiny and furthermore was covered in lashings of sickly sweet cherry compote. Due to the relative volumes, the cherry compote massively overpowered the cheesecake. This dessert clearly lacked refinement and/or any artisanal flair. It was an insult to the £7.50 requested. Upon asking for the bill it was delivered first with an incorrect amount. In order to correct said mistake, the staff required a further 10 minutes. I then requested further that the service charge be taken off the bill. To my puzzlement, the Maitre d just took the service charge off but didn't ask me for what reason I was unwilling to pay the service charge. It was again left to me to inform him of the litany of issues with the service during our visit. The ambiance was lovely however, the restaurant occupied a prime location on the main section of the Walthamstow village street. I found the outside tables a little too close together, conversations are not private here. The prices at this restaurant cannot be justified as they allude to a standard of refinement and service that is simply not present. I will not be returning any time soon.

The Sunday dinner is delicious I tried the chicken and it was really good my friend had the beef which was really soft. The service was quick and our server was great they even brought some breadsticks for my niece and the bread pudding is delicious

We're local and had given this place a wide berth after a couple of tasteless and disappointing meals/nights out a few years back. Thought we'd give it another chance and we were pleasantly surprised. Food quality great, service was good even though they were busy and good value for money. Tuna ceviche, watermelon salad, lam chops and chicken burger were our choices. Will definitely come again

Excellent service and delicious Sunday roasts

Love it at Eat 17, third time I have been there this year. Atmosphere is great, always busy, nice lighting, not to noisy. The service is always impeccable, carefully watching the tables but not being intrusive. Our table of 5 had the tuna ceviche and pea and mint soup which was all fresh and tasty. Mains we had burgers, veg curry, duck and lemon sole. All very generous portions, well cooked and clear plates. Good value for where it is, and one if not the best in Walthamstow village....I still need to try more but keep coming back to Eat 17!

Gorgeous al fresco brunch, great food great service!

Popped in here just thinking we'd grab a drink and ice cream... Ended up having a full roast as seeing them go by was torture and very glad we did. I had the chicken roast, which was succulent and bursting with flavour. The staff were delightful, attentive without being in our face and informative. Ended up popping to their ice cream stall and I'll be thinking about that cone for a while, super yummy! Lovely lunch, will definitely be back, thank you

Used to be a huge fan of the food but was there today and the food was dreadful! Hard cold eggs, flavourless dishes and some of the densest gross pancakes I’ve ever eaten. We even said it to the waitress and left most of the pancakes, she apologised and said she’d tell the manager. No offer to take the pancakes off the bill which was disappointing, we left the majority of it as it was like eating clay. Ridiculous as not cheap. Won’t be back again unfortunately unless they sack the chef.

Lovely atmosphere and staff is attentive and friendly. We had scallops, cabbage and a bowl with grains and tofu, which was absolutely delicious.

Sat outside, which was nice with the heater on. Drinks and service was good, but food was just a bit lacking. Had the chicken burger, and it was too rich for my taste.

Always good but be aware they have very strict rules about how long you can have a table in the evenings. Breakfast is also good - they close half an hour mid morning - I was told this was so that the chefs can have a break.

Expensive hipster establishment same stuff cheaper everywhere else

Booked for breakfast. Have not been to this restaurant for a few years and were really disappointed with the offering today. Strange tasting sausage, what was described as confit tomatoes but was just an oven baked tomatoes, beans were tasteless. There coffee machine had broke...
