My partner and I had lunch at The Market House today and the entire experience was wonderful. The food was generous and delicious , the service was excellent and the ambience was just right.

Not local, but our local ! Matt and Team are always welcoming. Great service . Fab menu. And top bands. Simply the best Great for a quick drink, dinner or a weekend evening to watch a band . Perfect on your own, couples or a group .

If ever you are in Maidstone High St and are wondering where to eat, find Market House and order the Firecracker Chicken. I’ve lived and worked in Asia, and travelled all over the world and this dish is one of the best I have had.

Had an excellent family lunch here earlier this week. Couldn't fault any aspect of it! Booking very smooth, staff friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. Great atmosphere, looked very family-, child- and dog-friendly. Excellent food (Burger, Ham and Eggs and the Swordfish Fillet) served up quick and hot. Generous portions but still had room for dessert. Good local beers, including a low-alcohol option (Noughty Bear, recommended). We stayed all afternoon but never felt we were taking up space or outstaying our welcome. Very reasonably priced too. We would definitely pay a visit again and thoroughly recommend it

We were very disappointed considering it's no 5 on trip advisor. Most of their menu was out of stock and the waiter came back from the kitchen twice to tell us we had to reorder. We where looking forward to the swordfish steak which they didn't have. My chicken was tough and so spicy I had to scrape the sauce off and ask for milk in order to eat it. Luckily it was a small portion. The fish was cooked well but very bland. The waiter was very nice and very apologetic but we had to share him with the bar which made it hard for him to be of good service. Won't be going back.

Had a fabulous lunch at the Market House. Sarah attended to us and her recommendations were spot on. Her service was great. Can definitely recommend it.

Great lunch here. My duck and noodles with Asian slaw was just fabulously tasty, I could have eaten this meal again! Husband had the steak and he said it was a great. We will be going back for more delicious food when we make another stay in Maidstone.

Excellent rump steak and fries (me) and Firecracker Chicken (wife). Owned by local brewery, so also enjoyed local ale and cider. Great food and service!

It’s a large town centre pub but with a cosy restaurant at one side. The menu is quite succinct but everything tempted including pork belly which was of the menu. A steak was a good chunky cut with perfect chips and a generous green salad....

Visiting my daughter and son-in-law in Maidstone they took us to The Market Place what a gem of a place. My wife and I shared the mixed tapas dishes-Absolutely delicious but looking at the dishes that was coming out of the kitchen all of the food looked amazing. I’ve just popped in to the market house for a quite lunch. The serves is amazing, attentive and friendly. At the point I need something not before or after they appeared. I had a falafel wrap. It was scrumptious! My partner and I went to Kent for a long weekend, stayed in Maidstone, and found this place on our first night. We had drinks in the evening, and then went back the next day for a meal and drinks, again! Everyone was so friendly, all made an effort to interact with us, give us tips about the area, and generally make us feel welcomed. We had a really nice time joking around and listening to their advice for both menu items, and the surrounding interest points. We will be back when we go for another holiday in Kent! Thanks guys :)

Love coming to this pub,popped in with my sister for some lunch that's a little different from the usual scampi and chips and never disappointed. The staff are always friendly and very helpful making for a very chilled and laid back atmosphere. We went for the tapas option today and choose 5 different plates and very happy with our selection and served by the lovely Lilu who looked after all wants and needs .Totally recommend this place .

Amazing staff who care about giving you a nice time. They put as much care into your enjoyment as they do the atmosphere. Child friendly and always have an enjoyable atmosphere where you feel like you are having a drink in your home rather than trying to fit into the group they cater to. They have a quality selection of spirits and drinks and can help you find a drink to suit your tastes. My go to choice when I am wanting a drink while on the high street.

From the moment we set foot in the Market House we were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The staff who attended to us all evening were superb ... friendly chatty attentive (but not too over the top) and made us feel so at home that we stayed longer. The food was so fresh tasty and delivered quickly to our table. We are not locals so took a chance on this but we can’t recommend it highly enough and if ever in area again will definitely use again.

This was my elderly mum’s first time mooching around the shops since March lockdown, she was still a bit wary. We arrived at The Market House, we were greeted with a warm welcome, completed the track & trace and applied the antibac. We were then taken upstairs, as they were so busy downstairs. It was ideal. No need to worry about social distancing, we had the place to ourselves. The staff were so attentive, we thought we’d be forgotten as we were tucked away, but quite the opposite. The staff popped up to check on us throughout, replenishing drinks. We had the delicious Salmon wrap. A hearty amount of salmon, would highly recommend. The service and food were excellent. The COVID procedures in place made us feel safe. We had an enjoyable lunch. Thank you

I have to say that the staff and the atmosphere we're extremely friendly, cosy, warm and inviting, the menus was small but given the current situation understandable, food was excellent. As we had 2 disabled people 1 who was in a wheelchair, they were very accommodating, thank you so much for a wonderful meal.

Went for lunch here today and the member of staff that greeted us was friendly, warm and very efficient while sticking rigidly to the new Covid rules. Popped in for a quick drink and a snack. I’ve always liked this place anyway but they have been so good with their Covid procedures. Since the recent changes they have got even better. We decided to pop in for a bite to eat, as I could see a couple of free tables on the upper terrace. We waited at the entrance and were shown to our chosen table.As we walked through and upstairs, we were told about the one way system and could see how they had partitioned off the inside of the pub in keeping with the decor.We took our seats and Claire dealt with our orders, drinks with 2 Cuban Burgers and a Sweet Sticky Chilli Chicken open sandwhich and a Warm Triple Chocloate Brownie for our son, as there's no way he can leave here without a pudding. Our son is 21 and has austism and Claire was absolutely brilliant with him. She's more a host than a waitress and she remembered that he liked ketchup from our previous visits and brought it to the table without us asking.The food looked great and was delicious and it was great to see the place doing so well in such trying times.

Popped in for a drink and something to eat after a walk in the evening. This place is so following the Covid rules it is great to see. Had to wait to be seated, details taken, table and chairs then wiped down before we got seated. Table service is always a favourite of my and the manager knew all the drinks of by heart. Just wanted a snack and told the chef was feeling a bit faint but still made me something to eat. While there for a few drinks I noticed that they did not stop cleaning at all. Even the bannisters to the toilet got wiped over. All the staff should be proud of themselves for abiding by the rules unlike other places in Maidstone. Keep up the good work!

I have visited Market House 4 tines recently. Once in the evening with my partner, on my own to read and enjoy a glass of wine, with a friend for lunch and then yesterday with my daughter for lunch. Each time we have always been served by Claire. Not only is she really friendly and professional, she also knows how to read people. She knows when you want to chat, need more time or when you want to be left alone. Most importantly however, my daughter is Coeliac and Claire went ‘above and beyond’ to ensure everything my daughter ate was gluten free and delicious. Thanks and a big thumbs up to the whole team.

Popped in for a bit of lunch after shopping trip to town absolutely fantastic food we had the tapas 5 for 25 pound. Omg the flavours were amazing and portion size just right. Staff were all lovely and chatty social distancing in place felt very safe and was nice to feel almost normal again. Can't wait for our next visit which will be very soon. This was honestly the best service I have ever had! The manager was fantastic and after saving me, my partner and 2 children from the rain, she found us a table and nothing was too much trouble! They made us feel so welcome (especially the children, having a little chat with them about their day and having ‘socially distanced’ high fives that the kids thought was hilarious) and the food was amazing. I can’t eat dairy and always feel like a bit of a pain when we go out to eat as a family but the options were great and the chef even made a couple of things especially so I didn’t miss out! We were all tired from a busy day and this experience made our day! The children are still talking about how nice the ladies were at breakfast! Thank you!

Have visited here several times over the past year and each time it has been excellent. Food is always freshly cooked and delicious with a range of interesting dishes on the menu including several gluten free options. Service is polite and attentive and the Market House offers excellent value for money. Would thoroughly recommend.

The Market House is my local pub that I use all the time. Yet again this weekend I took my partner in for the first and was warmly greeted as always. They have done a brilliant job in line with Government guidelines. The food was just perfect and came to the table after a short time. All the staff are so friendly and my partner commented that it was a lovely place to come for a drink and eat.

Food and service was amazing was lovely to cool off with nice staff that took care of us would definitely recommend.xxx

Met with an old friend for a spot of lunch and wasn't disappointed! We sat on the roof terrace and was served in a timely manner at the table. Food was excellent - we had the 5 for £24 small plates offer which then reduced by 50% because of the eat out to help out scheme!

Credit where credit is due this amazing pub has come up trumps after COVID-19. It’s always been my favourite for many reasons. I’ve visited a few places since the ease of lockdown and Market House wins on ALL levels. It’s clean, amazingly organised and such a civilised environment to be in. The staff have always been fantastic but they have done themselves proud by going the extra mile here. There is a booking system in place, staff meet you at the entrance, take you to your table, take your orders and deliver with a smile and care. No waiting at the bar, plenty of space, they have even made the screens to divide the tables match the decor! The fact you don’t have to even write your details down is just another touch which makes things not only safe but you get the feeling of ‘safe’ If anyone is fearful of staring to go out again to enjoy some time with friends or socialise then I can honestly say this truly is the place to go. Oh my gosh! I am 10 years old and my name is Phoebe, and earlier today I went to The Market House for lunch. I love it there because it is family friendly and the staff are very pleasant. I was served by a lovely lady called Sophie and another lady who's name I will endeavour to find out when I next go there. Now, being 10 I am usually very shy at pubs but when I am at The Market House all of that goes away! They were very nice to me (they do high quality stickers there!) I had the 8oz steak which was amazing and done perfectly! I love going to this pub and go there a lot and they never fail to put a smile on my face. I highly recommend the amazing Market House!!!

My wife and I ate here for the first time last night and thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Our waitress Claire was wonderful, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. All the food was delicious, well presented and hot. The restaurant was very cosy and warm and an oasis go calm away from a very busy bar area. All the staff we came in contact with and the manager Lou were all cheerful and chatty. We will be back.

Very good warm and personal reception. The bar area is fairly noisy. We were seated in the quieter restaurant area. We both had the 8oz steak. It was cooked perfectly. Afterwards my wife ordered a cappuccino but was served a latte. The ambience was good. Some board games were available if you wanted to play. A good place to pass time, not rushed.

Have visited The Market House on numerous occasions and very time have had excellent food , received good service and the entertainment is brilliant especially Vic Payne and his band The Do Theys.

What a fab place. Having been to the Market House now on many occasions I have always found the atmosphere, food and service fab. I must mention the barman Vic. He could not have been more attentive, professional and welcoming. He is definitely a big asset to the pub. I could not recommend this town pub more.

This is an excellent pub for all age groups. Went with my daughter for dinner and had excellent food and service. The barman Vic was also really nice, helpful and accommodating making sure that we were comfortable and he is very efficient. It is an all round lovely pub.

This pub was voted Shepherd Neame last year and it is easy to see why. It has really welcoming staff, very good food at decent prices and of course excellent beers. I especially like the ambiance and décor and it is well used by a discerning crowd that covers all ages.It is good to see that during the day it is not unusual to have a couple of young mums and infants quietly sat in the back within the food area. It shows that it is a safe quality environment were all are welcome. The pub also has the Hazlitt Theatre crowd in before and after performances adding to the atmosphere along with a lively younger crowd there for the live music.I like Shepherd Neame beers but find they need a good knowledge of how to maintain a good cellar to get the best out of them. The Market House is up there at the top of keeping a good cellar and it is good to see that draft Bishops Fingers makes an appearance from time-to-time.So very well manged, great beers and very good food, plus a central town location – my go to pub in Maidstone.

Just a shame we were too hungover to enjoy it more, but they made a rough morning far better with a fun and lively team, and some of the best food in Maidstone!

So its christmas day & myself & a couple of friends decide to pop out for a quick beer at the 'Market House'. No sooner had we arrived, we were greeted by a very cheery manager(lou) & her staff & a plate full of festive nibbles. Within 20 mins there was an announcement of a pub quiz starting! Really! On xmas day I hear you cry, well it was a stroke of genius on Lou's part as it kept us & a pub full of customers there drinking & enjoying an excellent Christmas lunchtime beer.
