This was a special occasion for us meeting up with family who we haven’t seen since before first lockdown. The Tea Barn made the whole afternoon relaxing and very enjoyable, from my first initial email enquiry, through to catering for different dietary needs and providing a delicious afternoon tea. The carrot cake gets a special mention! Lots of drinks to pick from with smoothies and iced coffees as well as the more traditional offerings. Thank you to all the lovely friendly staff.

A wonderful afternoon tea for a load of friends from 2 years to 85 years in a lovely garden with shade from trees and parasols and a delightful play area for young children. The food was superb and catered for all dietary needs with delicious, well filled sandwiches, oh my goodness wonderful sausage rolls, scones how they should be - large and soft and warm, and a selection of sinful homemade tiny cakes. Unlimited tea and super attentive service from Ben and his discreet and hardworking team. It made for wonderful event and all the children cried very loud because they didn’t want to leave.

Not immediately apparent what this place is like once you turn off the A272. It's approached via a somewhat rather unpromising farm road, then up a slight slope and into an ample car park. There's a farm shop at the top end with the Tea Barn at the bottom, both of which overlook a fruit growing site with seasonal PYO opportunities. There must be quite a loyal band of local supporters as it was rather busy when we visited during a weekday lunchtime. I imagine passing trade is negligible. The menu has a focussed and concise range of breakfast and lunch options, but we were there for cake! We certainly weren't disappointed. We shared a monster slice of home-made coffee and walnut which was absolutely perfect. We could easily have polished off a slice each had we not been preserving our appetite for a meal out later that evening. Coffee was fresh and hot; my latte was smooth-tasting and very ample. The ladies serving were friendly and efficient. As it was actually quite pleasant outside for a change, we sat on the patio. There is quite a sizeable garden beyond which is randomly strewn with large plastic toys to lure in the pre-school market.Well worth a visit.

I've visited The Tea Barn many times and have always been happy with my food and with the service. They have a lovely garden that overlooks the PYO fields and have little cars for children to play on and more recently a new little play area so they are very family friendly, dogs too are welcome in the garden. The food is delicious, especially the ploughman's and it's always are hard choice when it comes to their cake selection. It's always my first choice for lunch/cream tea/cake.

With no local knowledge and after the usual scout on TA we booked an afternoon tea for 3 at The Tea Barn.Service was excellent during a fairly busy period. Coffee and hot chocolate served nice and quickly and orders taken . On arrival of the food we were given a full description of what was on offer and everything eaten was delicious. The fruit scones had been made fresh just before our arrival and were lovely and warm. Although we had turned up starving we were unable to finish all the food even with a piping hot pot of tea to finish with so Ben very kindly boxed up our leftovers. Having seen some negative comments on previous reviews , and working in a similar environment, I do think reviewers should consider staff welfare as well as there own in these difficult times.

The tray was missing, a teaspoon, a tea strainer (as they serve loose tea) no napkin and no sugar. We had we go and ask for these items. They are giving out plastic cups but using a china tea pot, that makes no sense. Very disappointed and will not go again or recommend the place.

The last time we came here was just over a year ago. We came recently and it was very run down outside. It felt neglected as the wooden tables all needed sanding and revarnishing. The lawn needed a mow and the hedge overlooking the garden needed reshaping and cutting. The food was fine but they were using take away cups and paper Plates? However it would be better to have nice plastic covers on their wooden tables or varnished the tables so that they could then wipe them down. They could then put their China in the dish washer which like most coffee shops would make them safe. Government give guidelines quote ‘ Guidelines’ I feel using only paper cups and plates is not essential it’s lazy. Use the dishwasher and concentrate on cleaning the badly condition tables is more important!

This place is difficult to find and seems to be part of a fruit farm as well as country provision store. We dropped in whilst travelling and it was full. The cafe was warm, bright and comfortable with the Welsh rarebit being one of the best I had tasted although at just under £10 it was probably the most expensive also. My wife's dish was equally good and more than enough for one. According to the leaflet on the table most of the ingredients are sources locally and this shows. Certainly worth visiting if you are in the area.

Although the cheese scones are undeniably delicious the accompanying amount of butter, cheese and relish let the side down. Pathetic portionsWelsh rarebit again has no fault on the taste side but at nearly £10 for 2 slices of bread and a spattering of salad leave and coleslaw it was totally overpriced The service was also poor. I wish I had taken a picture of the cheese portions as I cannot do justice with words. We asked if we could have more butter and cheese but to no avail. Where do I start? Asked for a very simple order of two teas, slice of cake and a scone which took an age to be prepared. Can't say it was exactly good value at £9.40. To cap it all the amount of butter provided wasn't enough to cover one half of a scone let alone two. To cap it all a little more butter was asked for and we were told it would cost extra! That is just not on. By my reckoning we were given less than 7.5g of butter which at full retail costs about 5p. So the've lost a customer for an extra 5p. Margins cannot be that tight. Anyway one possible regular customer lost.

We visited towards the end of the day. I ordered a cup of coffee from a good range of coffees and an apple juice from a limited selection of drinks for children. After I'd ordered, as I had a toddler with me who needed his tea, I asked if his food could be warmed through. This was refused because "it came from outside". It was a commercial product, fully sealed but no problem, I was happy to buy something. I was tersely told the kitchen was closed but I could buy very expensive cake to give him. So, you'd sooner let a toddler who needed his food go without rather than give his food 30 seconds in the microwave. As I wasn't keen on giving a toddler a lot of sugar before his bedtime, I unhappily chose a packet of crisps. Meanwhile, watching me struggle with a wriggling toddler, I asked if there was a high chair as there were none available. "Through there," the disinterested girl replied. As it was obvious that I could not manage the toddler, bags and a pushchair, my disabled daughter struggled to get one.

I visited Durleighmarsh Tea Barn yesterday (27/10/16), with my family. We had bought pumpkins from the farm shop and thought that lunch in the tea barn would be a nice treat. When we entered, the tearoom was full, so my husband took our four children to sit in the garden. I stood at the counter to order behind two other people for nearly 15 minutes, and was totally ignored for another 5 once I got to the front! On ordering, I was told that there would be a wait for tea and scones as they were busy. A table became available inside, so we moved, as it was chilly in the garden and the children were cold. After approx 20 minutes wait, we got our drinks and thought that our food would follow. However the staff appeared completely overwhelmed, the kitchen seemed unable to cope and we were left waiting another 20 minutes for the children's cream teas. The staff apologised for the wait and said that our savoury tea was to follow. The children finished their scones and jam, which they said were nice, but after another 15 minute wait, I had to ask where the savoury tea was for my husband and I!!! The staff looked at each other and it was obvious they had forgotten it! Eventually the savoury tea arrived and we were compensated with a small pot of tea for the wait. Whilst the scones were tasty, they were not worth the painfully long wait and the stress of keeping four children entertained whilst we were all hungry. I appreciate at busy times there maybe a wait and have no problem with that, but the staff were flustered and disorganised, and appeared overwhelmed. To wait for the amount of time that we did, with tea, and food all delivered at different points was unacceptable. We all felt that it was a disappointing visit, especially as we had travelled a distance. Really we should have asked for a refund or in the very least have been offered one☹️

The cake/ pudding selection is delightful and extremely hard to resist.A lovely environment, with seating indoors & outside with views over the beautiful pyo farm.Recommended.

I recently ate lunch here with a friend. It is advisable to book on the weekend as the tea room gets extremely busy. The place is very cramped and some of the tables are low so tall people might have difficulty getting their legs under. I ate the Welsh Rarebit which was delicious if expensive at £9.95. My friend had a sandwich of some sort with, I think, avodaco and a cheese that was so strong it repeated for the rest of the day! She had a polenta cake for pudding and I had a flapjack which was very good. My pot of decaff tea was also good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I didn't use the loo. There is plenty of parking outside.I would recommend Durleighmarsh with the proviso that you ring and book at the weekend to avoid disappointment.

Visited today for a quick lunch and bitterly disappointed with overpriced sandwich. The Ham and chutney sandwich, should have read Chutney and ham sandwich! Enormous quantities of chutney on what was a perfectly decent ham! Very average bread too. Unfortunately insipid decaff coffee to boot. Could have been lovely, but £15 for two average sandwiches, weak coffee and a tea made the visit unenjoyable.

Such good food. Fresh, local, interesting, tasty and beautifully presented. My Welsh rarebit had edible flowers in the salad. And the polenta cake will make your day. Pine tables and deco do feel dated, but dont be distracted, the views out across the farm are lovely, and the fresh flowers on the table were very pretty. Nice garden area for kids.

Unfortunately the tea room was closed on the morning we visited. But I can highly recommend the fruit picking! All my kids really enjoyed it. My 2 year old is obsessed with blueberries, the delight on his little face when he saw he could pick his own is something i will alway remember!

We visited on a glorious July day in 2016, and we haven't had many of them this year. After an afternoon picking strawberries, beans, and other fruits and vegetables on the pick your own plot, (picking is free you just pay for what you have picked and intend to take home). We visited the farm shop. Brimming with homemade cakes, salads, seasonal vegetables. Homemade ice creams, sausages, free range chickens. Wines and spirits. It was a revelation. There was also a fresh fish stall in the car park selling fresh crabs, salmon, scollops, etc.We had a walk over to the tea shop. The tea shop has a garden with shades and a child's playhouse. The clotted cream tea with scones was probably the best cream tea I have eaten. The scones were not doughy, very light, and the clotted cream and home made jam was delicious. The shop has a range of teas as well as fresh coffee. All in all a pleasant way to spend an English summer day in the countryside.

Spent some time in the garden there this week drinking their excellent Sussex tea, in proper teapots and not expensive. Cheery, helpful staff, nice location, all good. Went back the next day for cream tea, the usual pot of tea, couple of scones, cream and jam. The thing is, the scones though pleasant were a bit on the small side, and the jam and cream portions equally meagre. My wife said it was barely enough for her and for me, a strapping bloke (!) I could heave eaten a couple of portions. At £5.95 each, seemed a bit pricey, or a bit stingey depending on ones perspective. Oh! And so impressed with the tea, we went in to the next door farm shop where they sell it and bought a packet for £2.75, but when we got home were rather dismayed to see it available at Sussex tea's own website for £1.36. More confirmation that this place is a bit profiteering.

I have visited here for a sandwich lunch as a destination dog walk from Hillbrow, Liss. On previous occasions we have always felt welcomed and there has always been seating outside the front of the cafe where dogs have apparently been welcomed as there is a dogs water bowl. Unfortunately today the cafe was very busy and seats were all taken out front and when we mention we would sit in the garden we were informed rather briskly that "she could not allow dogs out in the garden". As a mother and a dog owner I appreciate that dogs are not wanted on the grass but IMO for a well behave dog to remain by our feet at the table on the patio is no different in the front or the rear of the cafe! Or the ruling about dogs could have been conveyed in a more friendly manner. The sandwiches as usual was excellent but we felt the whole experience was marred by not being able to sit out with our dog. Perhaps more seats could be made available in the front on busy days?

The setting is lovely for this tea barn as is the coffee but the breakfast was terrible. They had to "find" the chef which I thought was kind of quirky but I wished they hadn't - My husband had the full breakfast as it sounded locally sourced and wonderful - when it came the fired eggs were burn to a cinder - I don't know how you could burn an egg to such a degree - the sausages were supposed to be award winning - yes they were ok but not overly impressed. I had bacon and eggs and again the eggs were burnt and crispy and I was embarrassed for them really to be serving then like that. The toast was lovely and the staff were also nice - my first and last visit I'm afraid - wanted to love it but won't be back

After a long hard week at work, we decided to have a 'treat tea'. OH MY! Did this make me forget all the stress of the past week! A beautiful setting, a beautiful building and a beautiful tea time treat. We opted for the Savoury Tea and the Cream Tea. We shared both, one savoury each and one cream each. DELIGHTFUL! The two cheeses that come with the savoury are just so tasty and there was plenty to go with the wonderful cheesy scones. Served with a homemade spicy chutney and Southdown butter it was a great start to the treat. As an idea it is inspired, not seen any other team rooms we have been to. The chutney went down a treat with the cheese, only sad thing is it is not for sale. This really is a case of 'if you could bottle that' - we would for sure have purchased a jar of this chutney. On to the equally brilliant cream and jam scone, lashings of cream and jam, again enough to have on both scones, no scrimping needed! The scones are so fresh that you know they have been cooked that day. I love a good cream tea, and here we have found a truly great one.The tea was 'real' and so wonderful to have real leaf tea, it sure is such a treat. The surroundings here are so 'just right'. Loved the daffodils and other flowers on each table and adored the bowl of flower heads on our table. There are some great pictures and photos on the walls and there are papers and magazines to browse as well. Every detail is so well chosen. To sit there and just be relaxed, well fed and watered was the best 'detox' anyone could wish for. Forget the Spa! Come here and your worries and stress will float away. All the way home we just kept saying what a treat it had been, and great value as well, and we could not decide if next time we would do the same and share two different teas or if we would just have one each - a great debate. We will be back and we will sample more delights. Well done everyone one involved, great concept, great location, great staff and easy parking with Farm Shop to visit as well.Winning combinations all round.!

Driving along the A272 on holiday, and needing some lunch I spotted the sign to the Tea Barn. The sign was well placed so gave me time to slow down and turn off - not so with many other eateries along this route unfortunately. It was a little gem. Off the main road so nice and quiet but very popular with the locals judging by the cars and the number of people in the restaurant. The menu offered some interesting options, not the normal run of the mill stuff. I shared a table with two lovely local ladies so got to see dishes other than my own. The food was fresh and well presented. I would definitely visit again.

This week I took my daughter to meet a friend and her twp girls at Durleighmarsh Farm. It is really easy to find, just off the A3 near Petersfield. It is quite a small PYO, compared to others, but is just perfect for what we are after. All the fruit is clearly signposted and easily accessible, even with a buggy and baby, and we had filled up on strawberries in no time. We then went for a sandwich lunch in the café and garden and it was great to just have something easy, reasonably priced and can watch the kids playing at the same time. All the staff were very kind.I would definitely recommend this for a summers morning out.

Went to Durleigh farm today with my daughter and grandchildren to pick strawberries. We all had fun then decided to have a coffee in the tea room. As we left my daughter realised she didn't have her sunglasses so we went back. Asked in the shop if anyone had handed them in and a customer said she saw them in the baby changing room so we went and looked but they were not there, alas some low life had taken them. I was so disappointed to think that this was a family orientated venue and someone could stoop so low as to take them. Shame on you hope you feel proud of yourself.

Not sure I can agree the food is reasonably priced - for a small quiche with salad garnish and an asparagus and ham macaroni bake one was playing £8 upwards per dish for light bites. What it does offer however is exceptionally well prepared food with great Ingredients. The venue is lovely looking over the fields and the farm shop has really good goodies and fresh veggies/deli items to tempt you with. Well worth a visit for a relaxed lunch with attentive staff.

The A272 is a long meandering road, and any regular user soon gets to know where the cafes are. When I first started driving it there was only one between Midhurst and Petersfield, at Aylings. In those days it was a bit of a dive in a ramshackle outbuilding, more transport cafe than garden centre, A few years ago it was upgraded and moved to a new wooden building. Nice food, but the cooking smells bring back memories of the old transport cafe days. Then Rotherhill Nurseries opened a coffee shop, also nice. We drivers had a choice! And now there is also the Durleighmarsh Tea Barn. We are spoilt for choice. My wife and I have stopped at all three for afternoon tea and cakes, but today we stopped at the Tea Barn for lunch. A new, tasteful building, in the style of a small barn, with the rather genteel serving ladies wearing matching pinnies. It's not a big menu but the surroundings are delightful and the beanburger baps that we chose were delicious. There is outdoor seating which looks out over the pick-your-own soft fruit fields to farmland beyond and a gentle wooded hill. The pinnies might mean that the clientele is predominately female. Definitely not a transport cafe. But if like me you don't mind being surrounded by women then I thoroughly recommend the Tea Barn for a light lunch or afternoon cake.
