Although it is called a tearoom , and you can get scones and cakes, it does much more having an extensive menu of hot food.

Two lovely cakes to split between us, a choice of 4 green teas on the menu, and great service. The classic tea room! What a shame it closes at 4pm, just the time one would normally want tea and cakes.

Mill Race Teashop

02/07/2018: The staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. The cakes and scones are delicious and the sandwiches were huge. Everything was great and reasonably priced. It’s a nice setting in the mill. Go if you can.

28/05/2018: Second visit and loved it. We had our 4 month old son with us and we're made to feel extremely welcome as soon as we walked in. For starters I had the pork fritters. These were crispy, well seasoned, and worked wonderfully with the pickles and pea. My wife had the pea Panacotta. She said it was amazing and something she had never had before. For mains I had the lamb rump and my wife had the fregola. Both came with a smoked aubergine puree. I quite liked it and felt it complimented the lamb. My wife felt it slightly overpowered hers. For desert we had the strawberry cheesecake and the lemon meringue. The strawberry desert came with a black pepper ice cream which was mindbogglingly delicious. Black pepper and strawberry clearly a marriage made in heaven. The lemon desert came with a lime and clove sorbet. Although a nice desert, there was maybe a bit too much liquid on the plate after it turned into a bit of a puddle albeit a very refreshing puddle. The sorbet would be amazing as a palette cleanser. I still loved it as I'm a sucker for lemon and lime. A fantastic selection of wines are also on the menu. I'm so glad we booked because we were both introduced to some flavor combinations we have never tried before. Thanks again for making us feel welcome. Hopefully see you next year!
25/06/2018: Monday evening, I expected the restaurant to be quiet but there were 16 covers. The rooms are small and intimate, the tables far enough apart for some privacy. We ordered from the small but well ranging menu, and our starters arrived promptly. Both were delicious, the home cured trout with horseradish just superb. Our mains were some time in coming but were well worth the wait. For details, see the menu and my photos! The lamb rump just melted in the mouth. Because portion sizes are correct, we decided to order desserts which again were superb.
