(Ambos actos me sorprendieron gratamente.)

We were staying in Dukes at Queens and decided to eat here rather than going out to look for somewhere. Glad we did, we both had steak sandwich which came with choice of side, pepper sauce, and side salad and was cheap at £12.95. The steak was cooked exactly as we ordered, chips were triple cooked and the service was excellent. Before 7 there are drinks promotions, Gins are 2 for 1, Bottle of wine for £11, Cocktails £4. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Stayed here on New year's Eve. We stayed in room 205/university suite. This room was brilliant, a huge bed, a massive TV and all the amenities that a hotel should have. The bathroom was so clean and modern. You can order breakfast to your room which we did for a small fee (£3.50) I believe and it was well worth it. the breakfast was superb in terms of quality. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the front of house team were fantastic. My only reason for not marking this as a 5* is due to the fact the noise outside. Granted, it was new year's eve, however me and my partner did not get to sleep until after 3:30am due to the noise outside. This can only be expected as most of the streets around the hotel are student accommodation however it slightly took the shine off an otherwise brilliant stay. I would definitely return to this hotel however maybe ask for a different room which was not on the intersection of the busy botanic avenue road. Thanks Dukes for a great stay!!

I ordered the roast beef and yorkshire pudding eventually the dinner arrived two scrawny pieces of dried up roast beef sandwiched with stuffing in middle,no yorkshire pudding. I asked the waitress what I had been served she said no yorkshire pudding left so gave me stuffing! I could not attempt to eat it as hate stuffing I was asked if I wanted something else but was nothing there I liked then another waitress said sorry we have been busy today that was last of food. I think they should tell people first also the price was £9 99 for a few potatoes and a bit of veg. Really bad service and food a rip off will not be back.

However service was very slow and the waitress seamed a bit over stretched although she was friendly. However the manager was not friendly and when went indoors to have dessert when it got cooler my son was dismissed when he asked for dessert with an answer "the chef's away". Which means in Belfast speak. The chef has gone home. He seamed to be having a bad day. This was my first dinner in Belfast. It's close to where I am staying, so convenience was a factor. The location is in a nice, quiet part of town near Queens University. The ambience is nice and relaxed. It's a pretty quiet place, especially for a Saturday night. The eclectic decor is nice, but I imagine it gets quite dark inside after dark. There were several local customers both eating dinner and grabbing drinks at the bar, which is always a good sign. There was live music after 9:30pm. The food was delicious. I had the goat cheese salad, the lamb main dish, and the lemon tart for dessert. The service was okay. The younger waitress (not local) was very friendly and helpful. The older waitress (local) was less helpful and looked unhappy the whole time, which affected the ambience. I expect a more warm, inviting presence from the locals. That wasn't evident. I probably won't come back during my visit, but it was nice to have a yummy meal so close by.

Bought a Groupon deal for this establishment and used it yesterday. The offer was for 2 sirloin steaks with all the trimmings and a bottle of house wine. Restaurant is fairly nice, located in the leafy suburbs of Botantic. They've invested enough money in the furnishings and decor, etc. The meal arrived and all was fine. That is, everything bar the steaks. Lot of fat, pretty darn tough meat, not very good quality, and they must have been hammered senseless as they were the thinnest steaks we had ever clapped eyes on! My Better Half had asked for 'medium rare', and it was 'medium-well done' at best. My 'medium' request turned out the same; medium-well done or well done. Shocking. We both agreed that we have never eaten (or seen!) a worse quality steak whilst dining out.Other things to note were the defacing of a poster in the (otherwise clean and neat) toilets. Surely some member of staff ought to have seen this in the past and have acted upon it?! I couldn't believe it had remained in place, and so looked to see if there was a rota on any door or wall to see if the toilets were cleaned or inspected regularly. I understand this is a fairly decent hotel, so was hugely surprised. As well as that there are glaring errors on the menu, such as an appostophe on the word "coffees" for some reason, plus the "trio of ice-cream" features only TWO ice-creams. Incredible how this could go unnoticed by staff/management. Regardless, I regret to say we will be back. It was unfortunately memorable for all the wrong reasons. . .

Went for lunch for my daughter's graduation was given menu which had a very limited choice-mainly steak/turkey and ham but all we wanted was some burgers and chips.Asked the waitress if there was any other options as we didnt want large dinner meals as it was lunch time. She said no other menu was available. We then waited a long time for the set menu which was 4 turkey and hams and 2 soups. The turkey&ham was served with cranberry sauce on top, which would have been better as a optional side bowl. As we were finishing our meal the waitress came out with two burgers to two customers sitting behind us. As we went to pay I queried the waitress about the burgers, to which she replied "that's the boss's son", and if we had of asked we could have gotten the same. But when I said earlier to her we only wanted burgers, she said it was set menu and nothing else was available. When I asked her about this, she insinuated I was lying and did not say this even though everyone else at the table heard me ask. This is one of most disappointing meals I have ever experienced, and has put a damper on our celebration of my daughter's graduation. It was over priced for processed turkey!

My wife had booked this hotel restaurant as a Grabone deal treat for my 44th birthday. The first waiter was rather plesant and took our orders for drinks and food. The starter I had was soup which was very nice but my main course was a different story altogether. At the time when I placed my order for both my starter and main, I asked the waiter I would like my sirloin steak to be well done. 15 - 20 minutes later when we got our mains, I noticed as I was cutting into the steak a pinkiness which put me off eating it. I called for service and a different waiter came towards me and I said to him that my steak was not properly cooked as I had wanted it. I then told him that parts of it had pink bits in it. His response to me was that he did'nt see any pink bits in it and then took the plate and said that he will see the chef and then said "If you like your steak to be well done, you have to say really well done" and the informed me that I would have to wait another 10 minutes before I got my main meal back. For a waiter to come of with coments like that, I thought was very unprofessional and rude to question a customer. When I finally got my main meal back, my wife had noticed that waiter having a secret coversation with the barman about my complaint. I for one will never be back at this hotel/restauant for a meal ever again, if that's the way they treat their customers. My advice is, stay away!

Visited this restaurant for a simple business lunch and could have done so much better elsewhere in Botanic Avenue. The décor is appalling. Service was lackadaisical. I ordered a turkey club sandwich with sides. The toasted bread was hard. The turkey comprised a slice of 'catering pack/carvery' bird. consisting (to my surprise and disappointment) of at least 50% tasteless stuffing. The chips were just okay. But it wasn't inexpensive. To be honest I won't be back unless someone else makes the choice and foots the bill. The entire atmosphere that day breathed 'we couldn't really care less' and the meal was reminiscent of The Grosvenor on The Hotel. My companion ordered something entirely different and but it was equally disappointing fare. Sorry - we work in the area and were trying to support local businesses but this was just shoddy, half-hearted and a rip-off for the money.

We booked Claudines for our Christmas staff night out. The menu sounded great but we did't have high hope - usually around this time of the year the standards drop and we have had pretty poor Christmas meals in the past at different venues. However we were proved wrong and the food was really good. I had the butternut squash warm salad, followed by the rib-eye and finsihing with creme brulee all very tasty well cooked and presented. The added bonus was the entertainment which meant we didn't have to leave our table except to shake a few moves on the dance area - everyone had a good time and we all agreed we will book again for our next staff outing!

We have eaten here dozens of times and it is always excellent. However I dont know what has happened.. maybe a new chef but the food has gone downhill.Starters of thai green prawn risotto arrived with no hint of green, no hint of Thai flavour, totally devoid of seasoning and some lemon rind on top (presumably instead of lemon grass). Maybe if it had been a prawn risotto it would have just been an unseasoned risotto. But this dish was not as advertised. The pot stickers which we have had 5 or 6 times as they are always excellent arrived overcooked, chewy and tasteless.Mains arrived without the sides which arrived 10 mins later. The Tandoori chicken looked to be that flavour but had no spicey flavour at all and had no seasoning. The salad had all the salt that should have been in the other dishes and was inedible. The rice was dry, bland without flavour and not sticky as advertised. The tomato raita was missing but there was a pot of yoghurt instead. No nan bread was suppled. And it wasnt half a roast chicken but a number of dry, old, re-heated chicken legs. Only the Fishcake was acceptably seasoned but arrived without the sides which we had to ask for and the waiter was unaware that asparagus and peas were part of the deal.Overall a let down considering previous visits. That what you get is not what is advertised is one thing. But the complete lack of seasoning in every dish and flavourless food is inexcusable. We needed to get out of there pronto to get to the QFT so trying other dishes on the menu was a non starter and maybe we would have had to go through the entire menu to get something satisfactory.

My girlfriend and I recently visited Dukes midweek for dinner. We had not booked, arrived around 7pm and were seated straight away. We chose the 2 courses and a bottle of wine menu for £29.99.Service was attentive and very polite. The deal menu had a reasonable selection and you could pick from Starter/Main or Main/Dessert. I chose Pork parcels for starter which was well presented, a good size (4 parcels) and on a bed of chili/spicy salad. My main was seafood tagiatelle, which came promptly after starter, and had a generous number of chunks of salmon, white fish, spinach and peas, and a flavoursome creamy tomato sauce. This was great food, great service and excellent value. The only thing Im marking the place down for was seating us under a speaker that was a tad loud for converational level, although I didnt ask to be reseated or for it to be turned down, and Im sure we would have been accommodated.

We were staying at the Duke's Hotel in June. We had been on a trip in the day and got absolutely and utterly soaked. After getting warm and dry we were going to go out for dinner but could not face the rain so decided to eat in. Thank goodness for the rain. It was a beautiful restaurant, a very nice setting with helpful and friendly staff and wonderful food. Great menu choices cooked to perfection. We had a good deal at £30 for a 2 course meal for 2 of us including a bottle of wine. Fantastic. Well worth it.

Having been in the OLD dukes hotel, I was aware of the great outside area on a sunny day, but was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the 3 tapas & house wine for £19.95. Especially the tandoori chicken thighs. After this experience, we'll definitely return to sample dinner.

Stahed at Dukes this Saturday. Staff were friendly and very helpful, Food was superb (Tapas on Saturday night was yummy). Room was modern, stylish, clean and comfortable with a fabulous bathroom. Only (minor) issue is on-street parking. We will be back. Highly Recommended!

Close to the city centre, this small boutique hotel is made up to very hi standards, the rooms (ours was "deluxe" room 203) are very big, very clean, with a huge comfy bed and a massive flat tv screen. The girls working at reception are lively, smiley and helpful. I recommend this place to anybody who wants to visit Belfast and the new titanic exhibition.

The service was not quiet as friendly, and the breakfast buffet was lacking. However, the food itself was some of the best I have had in Ireland!

Sorry to bang on but Chicken liver parfait, Salt and chill squid, chicken and chorizo pasta and a chicken supreme and a bottle of wine for £29.95, all perfectly cooked, seasoned, very good size portions, nice wine and prompt service. They now also do tapas dishes; 3 tapas and a bottle of wine for £19 (so add a couple of extra dishes and you have a tapas meal for 2 with wine for £25 - 26. And this isnt a time limited early bird offer. Get down there for a great VFM meal.

I went up Dukes with family and friends and initially the staff were very accommodating. They quickly opened up another part of the restaurant as they were very busy. However once put in what appeared the back of the restaurant we were apparently forgotten about. We had to ask for menus more than once, had to go find a waitress do our order could be taken and the proceeded to wait over 40minutes for our food. Once it arrived my father's meal was cold and was sent back for an apparent microwave. Very disappointed and would avoid in the future

I have never reviewed anywhere more than once but Dukes deseve another 5 stars. It has now been re-launched as an up market cocktail bar and the food, if anything is even better. Both the presentation and the food were verging on Michelin standard - unbelievably good and unapproachable VFM. For 29.95 for 2 people including a bottle of quite good house wine, you are getting a two course meal for £7.50 each!!!!!!!!!.We were invited to the official launch party the following day which we went to and had free drinks/canapes all night. There was so much delicious food that we actually stopped taking the food off the plates as they came around. A memorable night. Why go anywhere else?

We thought we would try the two starters, two mains and a botttle of house of wine for £29.95 deal as it seemed almost too good to be true. This was to ring the changes as our normal pre-QFT early evening meal would be at the excellent Molly's Yard. Overall Dukes is an excellent choice at this price as if you take off 15 quid for the wine, you're getting 2 courses for 2 people for 15 quid - bargain. And for the money, the starters of an oriental duck salad and smoked eel were first class and good enough for any Belfast top notch Restaurant. Simiarly, the Pork Belly and beer battered fish and chips were just great. The wine was mid range acceptably pleasant Pinot Grigio. Service was prompt and courteous and overall a great meal at a bargain price. The only minor criticism was slightly bright lighting at our table but if that was the only thing to fault, then why go anywhere else for a house 2 course meal for 2 with house wine for under 30 quid?

Just had lunch at Dukes new brasserie and it was absolutely excellent. To be fair, we were attracted by the blackboard outside offering 'Lunch Menu from £3.50' , but there was little available at that price. However, what we did have was excellent and well worth the couple of extra pounds. My husband had one of the daily specials - a generous portion of freshly made lasagne with chunky home-made chips and a nicely dressed green salad. My seafood chowder was outstanding - lots of prawns and generous chunks of lovely salmon and obviously freshly made - with 2 slices of lightly toasted wheaten bread on the side (mmmm - melty butter!). With a couple of soft drinks, the bill still only came to £13.95 - great value for lovely food.By the way - lovely surroundings in this newly re-launched eaterie. Comfy tub chairs and lots of lovely wood finishes. If you get a window seat it's a great place for people watching too :-)

Had dinner in the recently refurbished Dukes Hotel on University Avenue with 3 friends. I am in Belfast quite a bit on business so have my pick of where to eat - I will definitely be hitting Duke's again. Faultless menu - plenty of selection. I went with pizza as they have have a proper oven - it was superb. Service was great - really friendly staff. Nice warm atmosphere too - busy with locals and residents. I'd thoroughly recommend it!

buffet lunch for a fiver - really this is aimed at students, they are trying to cater for every market. avoid at lunchtime.grand place for a coffee or a glass of wine though, and students dont seem to come in the evenings. nice decor. one or two of the staff are very grumpy indeed - others are nice.

went here as a mini celebration upon being offered a new job.meal deal £30 for two starters, two mains, and a bottle of wine. great value but if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.salt chilli morsels of fish were basically greasy fish goujons with no salt or chilli, fair portion though.'woodfired' salmon and baby boiled potatoes were served piping hot from the microwave and the hollandaise sauce was almost solid apart from the layer of grease floating on top of it.my partners miniscule wild mushroom pasta caused great interest as the sauce was actually a can of heinz chicken soup. as she is a vegetarian and i am allergic to chicken and came out in a huge rash after tasting it, it would have been nice if it was mentioned.the evening was ended with a watery mocha which wasnt what you;d expect from a recently refurbished and elegant hotel.the only possible saving grace were the staff who were attentive and friendly throughout.i just hope dukes havent wasted even more money on yet another revamp, but unless they put the same effort into their food as they did the wallpaper then people simply wont come back.

Apparently, Duke's doesn't rate that high as a hotel. Don't know; I've never stayed there, but I've tried their restaurant a couple of times, and that was a pretty good experience. The food was filling and tasty, and the athmosphere was pleasant.

Lento y no especialmente simpático.

I booked a table online for the following evening however they cancelled my booking and were unable to provide me with a table when it was required. It also took the. 4 hours to inform me of this. This was going to be our first time in Salt but we wont be booking again.
