Dukes bistro in Tendring

We took our family to Dukes for an Easter celebration. The food was amazing, staff attentive and so pleasant! We will return to try more delicious dishes.

Lovely little bistro with great home made food. Good value and top quality.

Had an amazing meal with my other half, fresh food, Great selection. A wide variety of drinks including champagne. Can’t wait to go back. Server was attentive, smiley and polite

My partner and I went out for breakfast and was very impressed by the food and the price. I would say it was one of nicer places to go in Clacton and the surrounding areas. For breakfast that is . Quality of the ingredients nicely cooked and presented. I would recommend. I will go back again either for breakfast or to try the lunch menu.

Had a fantastic meal on Sat 3rd Feb. New decor is great and the place looks fresh and clean. Group of 4 and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Service only marked down by 1 star as think a front of house member of staff learning and he has quite a way to go yet. The young girl was doing her best and keeping things moving. No hassle to leave or keep buying drinks so relaxed and just a really enjoyable meal out. Congratulations to the new management and complements to the chef. Thank you.

This is a charmingly clean rustic restaurant run by friendly staff. The food is glorious & cooked to perfection. We can't wait to revisit.

Just had Mothers Day lunch here. We had the pork belly and it was absolutely amazing. The whole meal was gorgeous and the presentation was very good too. Will definitely book again.

It was our first visit. There were 6 adults & we booked for Sunday lunch. It was really nice. We had 3 courses & all of our meals were hot, well presented & very tasty. There is a good selection of roasts & very reasonably priced. Staff were all friendly & helpful. Would definitely recommend Dukes & we will be returning soon.

Went for a meal Saturday evening 20/11/21 with the wife and her parents, the food was fantastic and the service exceptional, we all agreed we will be returning, looking forward to trying the Sunday roast next time we are down. Highly recommended

First time dining at this cafe/bistro. Excellent selection of meals on the menu, but also cakes, sandwiches etc if you fancy something light for lunch. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely. Food was very good for the price. Definitely somewhere i will come back too, and take friends too.

I had liver, it is often overcooked when you eat out but it was cooked perfectly.

A group of 11 of us booked a table for Saturday lunch. We came down to do the Curve Watersports which is 2mins down the road and came across this place.Lovely little place. The Lady who served us was so lovely and accommodating! You can see that the kitchen is abit on the small side but that didn't let things down, the food was superb! From sandwiches to burgers, pasta to chicken. There is so much to choose from and everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend! 5* all round!

We were fitted in at short notice on a Saturday evening fortuneately as two local pubs wouldn't accomodate us for food. We were made to feel very welcombed and had a lovely 'home cooked' meal. However, it would be advisable to book.

This Bistro is good value and amazing food staff friendly and helpful really nice setting and atmosphere.Deep Fried beef was amazing Sirloin steak was mouthwatering Sticky Toffee pudding was lovely Gluten free options too which is good Family short Break and this Bistro made a great night out .

Four and a half stars - very good. We had a nice meal here at lunchtime. The staff were helpful and the food was good; I would say a good pub-grub style (meant in a complimentary way). We had a good sandwich and scampi. The staff were helpful and service friendly. Parking I imagine could be a bit tricky if it gets really busy as there are some spaces directly outside but not loads of parking. The staff were very good about cleaning and there was good distancing between the tables. Would definitely go back again.

Lovely staff. Social distancing and Covid rules well adhered to. The best coffee and teacakes in town. Also wonderful fresh prepared meals. A MUST VISIT!

Even in these difficult times you are made to feel extremely welcome. The staff all adhere to social distancing and all cleaning/sanitizing systems are in place. The coffee and meals are still first rate.Thank you all for trying to make life a bit more 'normal' and bearable.

We have supported Dukes for many years, and had asked them to make us two quiches for our daughters birthday- £27 later which I thought was quite steep, the whole things crumbled apart. They generally are very tasty, but having called back straight away, and be offered nothing off at first was disgusting. Eventually after much needless awkward discussion, they agreed to refund me, with no mention of returning them, by this point I was left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth- it shouldn’t have been this difficult for a local village bistro to come to this decision to offer me something off. Even worse, I then went in the week later for the refund, and the owner this time who didn’t know a thing about it refused as he said we didn’t bring them back. There was no mention of this on the phone call arranging the refund, and other than salads we had nothing else to offer our guests. Absolutely appalling customer service. Suffice to say, we will no longer be supporting them sadly.

Stopped by today with a little lunch with my wife. Pleasant surroundings, very generous portions and superb Scotch Eggs. Very well priced and you will not leave hungry. Will recommend and visit again.

Loved the food. Staff very friendly, professional and patient. Ate there a number of times during the week when I was staying nearby. Will definitely eat there again.

Food is absolutely phenomenal here! I had one of the specials which was Skate in a caper and Lemon butter, my wife who is veggie was also catered for! overall there was 8 of us that went and everyone one of use were blown away by the food!! People who served us were really friendly too so thank you!!!

Went for lunch on Sunday the starter was very nice but the main meals was very disappointing the belly of pork one meal was fall of fat other two was rock hard Potatoes needed a Sledgehammer to try. To brake into them told the man in charge he. Came with a small dish. Of Potatoes Swimming in oil the whole meal Should have gone in the Bin waste of 47 Pounds

An ideal place to relax with friends and enjoy a wonderful cappuccino and homemade cake. The meals are freshly prepared and mouthwatering. The staff are lovely. You are never rushed and can chill out and relax. An enjoyable experience.

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful our Christmas day dinner was. From start to finish you couldn't fault it. The service was excellent, with so much food we waddled out of the restaurant. Thank you for making our Christmas day special.

Family and friends visited this restaurant last night for our friends 60th birthday. What an amazing restaurant. Food, staff, ambience were all amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent value for money. Just wished it was nearer to where we lived!

Excellent family restaurant. If you are in the Clacton area you must really visit this restaurant. Excellent home-made food including cakes pasties sausage rolls and the most incredible Scotch eggs, looks like cannonballs taste fantastic.Although I enjoyed the lunch very much, the evening dinner at the restaurant is an absolute delight. The staff and owner is very friendly the choice excellent and the food very high-quality in a home-cooked style

Lovely welcoming staff , great vibe in here. Cakes are amazing. I have eaten a few times in here with my partner , we have had Welsh rabbit to steak and never had to complain about any of the food. Highly recommend and parking facilities at the back.

Visited here with some family. Whilst the food was nice and fairly good value for the location. The overall experience was let down by the serving staff who seemed not to be bothered with customer service. Maybe because they are so busy and popular they feel they don't need to look after the paying customer but could be so much better.

We had lunch the previous day here which was nice, and as there is a very amount of limited places to eat in the village we came back for breakfast the following day. We wish we hadn’t! The veggie breakfast was so watery and soggy, I just couldn’t eat it. My boyfriend also had a hair in his food. When asked how our meal was we said about the couple of unfortunate problems with the food. However, rather than saying sorry the lady just said “well none of our chefs have hair”. No apologies, no attempt to fix the problem or compensate us. The younger waitress was very friendly and nice but obviously didn’t have the authority to be able to do very much about it. I am never one to write bad reviews but we definitely wouldn’t go back or reccomend.

About 14 of us enjoyed a great lunch after a recent walk around Point Clear. We were greeted upon arrival and shown to two separate tables to avoid blocking the exit. This was explained and fine. We all enjoyed a great lunch, orders being taken efficiently and drinks arriving promptly. The main meals arrived together which was appreciated (we realised such a large group - without pre-orders might have been difficult for the staff). Dukes had changed to a new menu recently, still plenty of choices.We will definitely visit again.A bonus were the cakes etc we purchased on leaving for later enjoyment.

I use dukes for the fabulous bistro regularly being a local, it’s one of mine and hubbys favourite places to eat, the menu is very versatile and is absolutely exquisite you won’t be disappointed!The patisserie is equally fab! Be sure to try a high tea here more conventional then others as have the added savoury nibbles on top of sandwiches, cakes and scones :)
