A very good little cafe which I highly recommend. Good menu choice, very attentive staff, followed by excellent food delivered surprisingly fast. In laws had a sea food platter, which was excellent by all accounts. I had the calimari, fresh and tasty and my wife had a salad of some sorts serves on a flat bread. Again very tasty I was told. So overall a very good restaurant, and a big well done by all the staff, well deserved!

Popped in for morning coffee and cake whilst visiting the area. Had the best flat white I’d had in a long time and the freshest cakes. Very good value, particularly the cakes which were nice big slices. Lovely friendly staff all very efficient and helpful.

Four of us went for lunch. Three of us had excellent crab sandwiches on beautiful granary bread. The fourth member of our party had steak and chips. All the food was excellent and the staff are so friendly and efficient. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you.

I had a great vegan plate at breakfast. The sausages were flavorful and great texture. The toast was warm and soft with generous creamy butter. There were lots more on the plate including beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns. The chai latte was delightful.

We shared a lovely seafood platter. Really fresh & tasty. Thick slices of salmon, fresh prawns & crab with a lovely couscous salad. The service was amazing, so friendly & welcoming. Our dog Mable was completely spoilt with biscuits & fuss. Would recommend.

Outstanding breakfast and brilliant service! We ordered the full english and vegetarian breakfast, plus two kids breakfast (thankfully they can pick & mix! 😂). Huge portions, delicious high quality ingredients and fast & friendly service. Even the toilet was lovely 😂You will not be disappointed! I can’t wait to come back to try the cakes & scones.

One of the best places to eat, great coffee, wonderful staff

We took our friends here for an afternoon cup of tea and a cake, having found this café whilst visiting with relatives. On our first visit, we had sandwiches which were superb and extremely tasty, hence the reason we decided to take her friends here, because they were visiting us. Cannot recommend this café highly enough. The sandwiches are fresh with superb salads on the side, and the cakes are all made freshly and are extremely tasty. The service is always extremely friendly, and quick! This is a true gem in. Salubrious and one not to miss out on.

Had a delicious lunch here, we sat on an outside table (under cover, which was useful as it was raining!). Food was lovely, service was excellent. Will come again next time I'm in the area!

We ordered Hoisin beef on flat bread The flat bread must have been stale As it was cooked and not burnt but was rock hard and we couldn’t get a knife through it to cut it .it was so brittle it shot across the cafe We asked discreetly a member of staff to come over to our table and mentioned the problem ..to be asked -“would we like a steak knife to cut the bread!! “ We told her that was not acceptable -she took the food away to get another meal prepared The second meal came out ..with soft flat bread -that was not stale however we were given the cold meat contents to share between us on the next so call called fresh meal -which was cold A staff member asked us if the second meal was ok -we stated the above We went to pay and were given the two drinks that we ordered free ..however I would like to state that there was nothing wrong with the drinks ! We were told to pay full price for the both meals each No sorry or mention of the meal being cold and unsatisfactory I asked if the chef had been changed as we have been here many times before -she stated that he has not left . So very dissatisfied and disappointed that no acknowledgment was made and tht we were expected to pay for a substandard meal We would rather have have full price for the perfect dink and be told we would have a discount t on the meal -so basically they dismissed the problem 😡

Left my bag there. They kindly promptly posted it to me, and even checked up that I had received it. Great customer care. We had breakfast on two mornings and they were excellent. Friendly efficient staff. Wish I lived nearer !!!!! 😁

This place is just delightful. The breakfast was delicious and piping hot, service fast & friendly and the coffee was AMAZING. Would totally recommend if you’re looking for a cosy, stylish little spot for some breakfast.

A stunning café in the heart of Newlyn. We had lovely breakfast, that was cooked to perfection. The Staff were friendly and helpful. The café is dog friendly too, which is always a bonus for us. Highly recommended.

Delightful place. Found by accident, stopped for coffee and cake. Lemon Drizzle cake was lush, the lunches looked delicious.

Awesome food , great service and just perfect

Very friendly team. Both the coffee and in particular the big slice of carrot cake were delicious. My wife had the best scone she ever had with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Can highly recommend the Duke Street Cafe.

Such a friendly welcoming atmosphere for lunch out. Took our dogs and made welcome. We had the seafood platter with fries and every mouthful was perfection. Fabulous coffee too

Popped by here for a breakfast prior to our departure from Cornwall. Great last bite before going back up north, the vegetarian breakfast was well and complimented by great coffee. Will be popping in again if we are back in the area. Thanks to all.

Brilliant Cafe, lovely atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Great selection of food. Gets busy (another sign that it’s one of the best) but totally worth it!

My partner had the lightly dusted calamari and she said it was the best she ever had in England (shes Croatian but lived her 8 years). I had the steak topped chips and i absolutely inhaled it, incredible. We ordered the pistachio cake and brownie. Both delicious and the staff were really nice. Not too long to wait. Parking directly outside, meter charge.

Staff were friendly, it is always busy with locals and visitors. It is not a cheap greasy spoon establishment. Probably a little over priced but ok.

Stopped off here for a coffee which was spot on. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. I didn't eat but I'll bet the food is decent, the cakes looked lovely.

Mooch on the promenade with impromptu lunch thrown in. Ended up here, wife claimed “it’s good” she was correct again….. Seafood Stew with Cornish Helles, top choice. Hey you can’t have anything but fish in Newlyn. Great grub, no worries.

We called in here on the off chance for a late breakfast. We had a couple of sausage and bacon baps and they were SPOT ON! Great coffee too.

I went to Duke Street Cafe for a solo lunch before a movie at Newlyn Filmhouse. I had the caesar salad and some fries, everything was delicious. The music was great and so was the service. Thank you!

Popped in for lunch while staying in the area. Gluten free options are no problem, pretty much everything on the menu (apart from the breaded items) can be made to suit. I had the crab sandwich which came with a fabulous side salad including everything...

Visited for lunch while in the area and would definitely recommend. The crab open sandwich was delicious and well worth the drive from where we were staying.

Second time coming in and it is still fantastic! The doughnuts are just delightful , probably the best I’ve had… Orange polenta is so good and moist and lovely. All cooked and served by a fantastic friendly and very helpful team. We’re still eating whilst writing this 🤩👏🏼

❗👎 Expensive, overpriced and mediocre food. For £7 I expected a much nicer sandwich. The pot of tea cost us £7.50! Staff were friendly though, so an giving it 2 stars.

Lovely little place and very welcoming and friendly

Very sorry for the relatively low scores, I had been expecting better. Having made a detour to get to this café (my choice), we arrived before 3 pm and there was nothing to eat but cake, take it or leave it. We were hoping for a late lunch. Sadly, it was too late for warm food or even a sandwich. It felt as if we had intruded on their end of day tidying up routine. It was a huge contrast to the previous day where (on arriving much later in the day and much nearer to closing time) the staff at The Cabin on Perranuthnoe Beach pulled out the stops after what appeared to have been a very busy day. I have been here once before and quite enjoyed the experience, hence the stars. Not this time, the cake was okay and the coffee would have been excellent if it had been a bit warmer.

Called in for just a coffee.....but seeing other guests breakfasts decided to partake Had excellent poached eggs and local smoked salmon,toast and avocado..... delish!!!!

Whilst on holiday I wanted to visit Newlyn having seen it on the BBC 1 show Trawlermen. By chance on arrival this cafe was next to where we parked. We were greeted with such a warm welcome, had a nice table outside and lots of food choices. We both picked the crab salad. It was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. A reasonable price too. Highly recommend a visit.

Stopped here today for lunch. Excellent choice to choose from, we had the fish finger bap - which was delicious. Cornish coffee was superb and ‘hit the spot’. Staff were very attentive and polite. Very reasonable price, definitely a must visit if your in Newlyn.

Breakfast visit - my husband, 9 year old and I popped in for an impromptu breakfast. We didn't have a booking but managed to get seated. We sat inside, but outside around the flowers also looked lovely. Lots of options and kids breakie menu too....

Very hospitable and really tried hard to accommodate even the largest of groups. Cream tea was wonderful but a the food looked great.

What a find - we loved this place! Ended up here every day of our recent holiday as it was walking distance from our accommodation and once we’d been we didn’t want to go elsewhere; received a warm welcome for us and our little dog...

We visited today for a late lunch with our dog. The menu all sounded delicious and there was a good choice. Once ordered our food came in good time and even our dog got a treat ! Our lunch was very tasty and would recommend.

Very friendly, lots of variety, lovely atmosphere

Without doubt the best place in Newlyn. After very disappointing experiences in other Newlyn pubs and restaurants who made us feel quite unwelcome, Duke Street Cafe was our final attempt at getting a meal and drinks. We are so happy that we did. My wife, 3 children and dog were made extremely welcome by the absolutely wonderful staff here. Our experience got better and better as we we served with the best food we've had in the area. Such a relaxed atmosphere after a very poor start in Newlyn. We love Cornwall but noticed in a few establishments the growing trend of putting up posters saying 'Homes not Holidays' which when this is the first thing you see upon walking into a pub, makes holiday makers feel unwanted from the start. Somewhat hypercritical when they're taking your money. The Duke Street Cafe was perfect though and a real pleasure for us to have been there. Thankyou.

Called in for a coffee and cream tea, wow it certainly didn't disappoint, lovely fresh scones, slightly over sweet strawberry jam, and luxurious clotted cream. Tea for one at least 3 cups, coffee superb. Good value for money too. Highly recommended 👍😁

We again visited our favourite café in Newlyn on our return to Cornwall for three years and we were not disappointed, I had the Newlyn Crab on toasted sourdough bread surrounded with couscous, homemade Piccadilly and coleslaw, all of which had my taste buds tingling....

Freindly and good value cafe. Great range of food fir a light bite with excellent vegetarian options. Also doggy friendly. Nice decor and top rated loo.

A very stylish cafe in Newlyn with good food, good coffee and lovely staff. You’ll need to be prepared to queue to get in when it’s busy bit it’s worth it. Tables can be reserved. A real gem of a cafe.
