Awful experience. Staff were so rude. Visit Sunday morning, and it wasn’t particularly busy. Surprised how rude the two ladies were. Food arrived before drinks and when I asked if drinks were on way. The lady was rude and didn’t even apologies. Food has gone down hill as well. American pancakes were small and very flat. Overall disappointing and won’t be returning. The lady who says take a seat (brown hair) is clearly in the wrong job as she couldn’t be any ruder. Sad to see this place go down hill recently.

The food was good but the brown haired waitress we had was incredibly rude and patronising to us.

A wonderful coffee shop. The food is delicious and the pancakes are freshly made which is hard to find sometimes, and the coffee is just as lovely as the food. They are dog friendly which is a great bonus as our dog goes everywhere with us.

We loved the food and all the photos of dogs on the wall. The table was way too small for 4 adults trying to have breakfast and I wish the tea for two was just one big teapot for space and convenience

What a lovely cafe! Visited here whilst on holiday in York for brunch. We both went for smoothies which were really tasty. Ordered the pistachio, raspberry and mascarpone french toast which was sensational and the bacon and maple pancakes which you can’t really go wrong with. Staff were friendly. Will be back!

Very dried out cakes, ginger, lemon & honey tea not made properly (big chunks of ginger do not work, it needs to be finely chopped or grated. Staff happy to chat amongst themselves and ignore customers. Will not be returning

We only went to this cafe because of great reviews. Ordered some sandwiches,the worst sandwiches I have ever had... sourdough was great,but thats the only thing that was great about it. Plain bread,no butter ,no sauces, 2 thin bits of bacon, half a seathrough tomatoe and one piece of lettuce!!! AWFUL. My bf had steak sandwich,that was slightly better,more filling. I mean how hard is it to make an amazing loaded sanwich with sauces and stuff??? Coffees werent bad,but not the best either. Would not recommend. There are millions of much better cafes and with much better food too.

Great breakfast when it finally arrived. Friend's drinks took twice as long as everyone elses to turn up. Then his breakfast order also came incorrect.

We have been before and left a good review but this time was really lacking! We come here as I have allergies so it is fab to find someone that caters.. The service was poor, the girl that served me seemed like everything I asked was being annoying.. the other staff were helpful and didn't roll thier eyes! my food was gorgeous and i thought that made the visit worth it, but within 10mins of leaving the cafe I was incredibly ill!! I had to seek help, and be taken back to my hotel later, where I was dosed up and put to bed! Something was clearly amiss!

Husband, toddler and I came for coffee, coffee was weak like that hadn't changed the beans after the last drink, service was horrendous ,the lady who served us with dark brown hair, clearly hated her job. Cannot emphasis how awful the coffee was. Would not recommend

An absolute gem. We visited the smaller cafe and had the best latte I’ve ever had, we loved them so much we had two! Also had two breakfast sandwiches on sourdough and took home 2 slices of bakewell. Staff were lovely too. Definitely a must!

Delicious food, friendly and efficient service.

Nice looking place, and the drinks were decent enough...but the English Breakfast was very lacklustre. Bacon "fried" in clumps, meaning some was less than well cooked, sausages were luke warm, as if they'd been sitting on the counter side for some time. Disappointed.

I have been to plenty of restaurants and cafes in York and I have never met such a rude member of staff, making us feel unwanted from the moment we stepped in. We only had drinks so I am not able to comment on the quality of the food, but even if it was amazing, I wouldn't return here.

Our visit was on a calm Tuesday AM. The food was piping hot, the drinks wonderfully created and the cookie (cheeky purchase) ticked all my boxes. Run by very down to earth guys and gals. Lovely atmosphere and a good price.

Saw this place on the way and wanted to stop by for some food. Was kinda expecting for the prices to be slightly expensive, however as long as the food was it it would’ve been okay. I ordered the pistachio pancakes, which unfortunately turn out to be quite rubbery, and came with half a pot of mascarpone, not sweetened or even fluffed. The pistachio sauce was also questionable. Aesthetically it was very pleasing however the taste was nowhere worth the price. My partner had the ham and cheese toastie, which once again looked great, but they’re wasn’t much cheese in it at all, and the crisps that came on the side were stale :( The water glasses also smelled weird. All of the staff seemed lovely and the place itself looks nice, it’s just unfortunate that the food was a let down.

Lovely cafe in York. We visited for lunch and it was quite busy but we managed to get a table upstairs. Staff very friendly and food was lovely. Very reasonably priced too. Will visit again in the future.

The best French toast in town, and having tried probably all of cafes in town I feel I can say pretty certainly (better than brew and brownie and partisan). Best lunch options in town: Generous portions, good price point, good veggie choices (and meaty choices), and great choices in general, loads of different drinks if you don't like coffee/tea!it's my fave place in York. All those boujie expensive cafes are over priced and some are REALLY slow. Here your food comes out really quick, usually 10 mins max! Staff are super lovely as well!

Never usually been able to get in here as there's always a big queue, after waiting 10 minutes for a table, we were slightly disappointed. Service was just overall slightly lacking, and on the slow side. Having said that, the food was good on the whole and reasonably priced. Not worth waiting outside for half an hour though.

Never had to queue outside a shop before for breakfast to wait to be seated. Was very nice and cosy inside, staff were very nice too. We had the breakfast which was very disappointing especially as it was nearly £12 not including tea!, everything was overcooked to the point where the bacon was so crispy is snapped when touched. The cup for the tea was not very clean and was changed 3 times before getting a clean one (maybe a new dishwasher is needed).

Best restaurant in York!! This place completely blew my taste buds. It was a spectacular Sunday breakfast at Drift-in. Avocado on toast was magnificently delicious. The bursting of poached egg yolk with fried mushrooms, oh my goodness what a combination of flavour!! I honestly haven't tasted such a delightful English breakfast ever! And the best part is their breads! Their supplier is a famous bakery in York and I was completely taken back by its texture and taste. The presentation was top notch, the food was visually stunning and colorful. The service was great as well. The mocha tea was not the best, but it was definitely well made. A huge shout-out to the business. They are doing a phenomenal job. Thank you for inspiring me to cook my own English breakfast at home🥞🍳

Had a really decent breakfast here with a good cup of coffee. Warm friendly staff and I like that the take Polaroid photos of all the dogs that visit and hang them on the wall!

A good breakfast, and knowledge about a gluten free diet.

Second time visiting as had been impressed before. However now feels like quality declining. Ordered a meal for myself and my toddler and wasn’t made aware of a wait time, we ended up waiting 40 minutes for a kid’s sandwich which was stale white bread and some tuna Mayo that was filled with raw onion, the whole sandwich just fell apart and went uneaten as was so dry. Think it was about £6 for this sandwich too. Floors also dirty. Staff friendly but for a place that looks quite child friendly this was a disappointment.

Very welcoming, dog friendly cafe. Great choice of drinks. We only stopped for drinks as we had just had breakfast at our hotel. Clean establishment with friendly and fast service. Will definitely be visiting again and would love to try the food.

An amazing find in York! We came in for brunch, and food was quick and delicious. There’s a fantastic range of vegan options for food and drink (and so many dog photos!) The perfect place to drift in for a morning coffee.

Such a great cafe, had the iced oat latte and the dark chocolate brownie (vegan I think?) and both were soooooo good. The service was quick and friendly and there’s nice lightning from all the windows. Prices are good compared to lots of other cafes I’ve been to (less than £7 total for my drink and brownie). Highly recommend!

We planned to come here for breakfast on our trip into York and Malton and wow it did not disappoint. I am breakfast obsessed and can be very critical, however I only have the very best to say about this place. I got the Turkish eggs and I 10/10 well done. Was probably one of the nicest breakfasts I've actually ever had, will definitely be trying to make this at home. Get there early or be prepared to wait however as it is very popular.

Inexplicably a popular place with less than average food. The bacon and brief eggs in our meals were overcooked, but the juices were fine.

We had breakfst here while visiting York and the food and drinks were great. The service was friendly. The place also looks very nice to sit in and the bathroom was great too.

2nd time here and disappointed with the food. Bacon was majority fat and there was a black hair inside my food which I believe was the cooks as they don't wear hair nets

Stopped in this spot, because another reviewer gave it the superlative of being the best breakfast in York. Immensely happy I decided to stop in as I too can agree this is the BEST breakfast option in York. Everything on the menu sounds more delicious than the next option. Finding a proper smoothie and juice jar in addition to a variety of lattes was a matcha made in heaven (see what I did there?). I thoroughly enjoyed the Pineapple, Caramel, Passion Fruit, and Coconut Cream French Toast special along with a side of halloumi and a Berry Blast smoothie. It was the thick style French Toast and passion fruit pulp that really sealed the deal. My friend adored the Marscapone Pancake and a lovely cappuccino. Would definitely return to this place just so a Polaroid of my dog can join the collection on the wall as you walk in. Plenty of gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options for those folks who need them. TEN STARS 🤩

Amazing restaurant. Every single item we ordered was so nice!

Our family (2 adults + 2 kids) went there for a brunch on Saturday. In the morning there was a line coming out , so we waited and came back closer to noon. Then we got table in about 5 mins. The place was stylish and had nice atmosphere. Local dog owners aeemed to like the place, so if you do not like the dogs, you should not go there. Bruch food was well made - we had salad, french toast and filled bagels and all tasted good. Service was also nice and one waitress looked exactly like Ellen Page's twin sister (when she was Ellen and not Elliot). I recommend this personal and nice place!

Decent food and friendly staff but very very slow. Food took more than 30 minutes to arrive for takeaway. Seemed understaffed in the kitchen and front of house wasn't too busy.

Came for lunch here on the first day of our holiday, and ended up coming back for breakfast on the remaining two days! The food is fantastic - great range, healthy, and good value. Staff are friendly, atmosphere is lovely. Vegan and allergy friendly too

Me and my partner came for a night away in York and decided to come here for breakfast, we arrived at 11:50am to be told we couldn’t order breakfast even though they sat till 12pm. We ordered what they stated as “pancakes” which came out as crepes. To make it worse they were flavourless and tasted under cooked. The atmosphere wasn’t enjoyable either. Our coffees came out to which we hoped would be enjoyable, but weren’t cleaned properly and had matcha still left in the cup from the last time it was used. Would not recommend this place, find somewhere decent in a beautiful city like York

Such a shame about the fat face cafe. This used to be quite nice to have a coffee and a bite to eat. Today's visit was disappointing with a frosty welcome telling me to wait to sit down. That was half the problem as the six empty tables were all waiting to be cleared whilst apparently being ignored by staff. The drinks were good and the table snack was OK but as far as the Fat face brand was concerned this fell short. We all have bad days and I think this visit fell right in the middle of theirs. Walking back from delivering drinks to a table without clearing the mess next to us is not how it should be done. Come on Drift in, it should be better.

Great dog friendly foodie place. No alcohol. Wraps, toasties, sandwiches on a BIG scale with some terrific drink, smoothie,shake. Lots of vegan, vegetarian and Gluten Free. Lots of doggie photos on walls from previous visitors.

Got a table OK, but once ordered , drinks OK took 10 minutes to be served food was 25 minutes, food was fine however overall I'm not rushing to return.

My partner and me were excited to see a pancake place. Once in we come to realize they’re actually crepes and not pancakes. We ordered any ways. In all honesty, it was one of the worse crepes I’ve ever had. It was very gummy and hard to cut though with my knife. I definitely got my monies with on bananas and had two full ones on the 1 crepe. The bacon was actually the star of the dish. The coffee was decent. Staff did their jobs but wasn’t really friendly or engaging.

Popped in for breakfast following a hen do weekend. Avocado on sourdough with feta was amazing, really hit the spot and still thinking about it hrs later and wishing I could have another serving!
