The price for the 3 course meal gets you in the door but certainly wouldn't have me returning. For starter I got a spring roll- one tiny thing ungarnished on a large plate (it really was laughable). Main was unmemorable. Dessert was apple pie-basically a cheap christmas mincepie but with apple. We actually went to McDonnells straight after paying as we were starving!

I called here periodically over the last few years and always got a tasty meal but there must be new management. All the staff had changed. The meal was absolutely disgusting. I ordered chicken curry. Processed and tough chicken, greasy curry sauce and burned fried rice that was actually hard and dark burned at the bottom of the carton. I tried phoning them but no answer. This cost me £ 5.90. I will try and call them tomorrow to complain. This was the most disgusting cheap slop I have ever been given. I will never be back. Sorry but I don't see how anyone could serve up food like this too anyone. Stay well away.

I visited here with my parents and some other family members at lunch time on a Sunday. Place was very busy but we'd reserved a table so no issues getting seated. They had a 3 course lunch menu on offer and I have to say the choice was ridiculously good for starters and main courses. Probably not far off the selection on the full menu. I cannot complain about the food at all. We all had starters and main courses and they put on some sausages and chips for my toddler niece which was good of them. There was plenty of food as well and tasted great. Selection of desserts isn't great but it never is however the banana fritters were very good. Would definitely recommend and will be back. I think it was less than £7.00 per head for lunch which is great value.

Haven't been in a while now, due to having a few bad experiences in the past. We decided to head down to see how things had changed since the new management tool over and where pleasantly surprised. Upon entering we were given a warm and friendly welcome unlike previous visits where the staff just didn't seem to care. We were then shown to our table which was in a nice area of the restaurant. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful and also had a good knowledge of the menu to help us chose as my girlfriend isn't much into asian cuisine she asked about pretty much everything on the menu and this didn't fizz on the waitress, where some may have gotten impatient. The food arrived and it was cooked to perfection, the meats well done, the veg crispy and the beverages cold. In my opinion this is now one of the best restaurants in the area and we will definitely be back. A must visit if you like asian food.

Since Jan 2015 this pace has been under new management and they are really friendly. However, we have visited now on two occasions since new owners and I am sorry to say the food is not good. The duck has no meat and is all fat, and the chow mein contained pink pork with a lot of 'slop' and was not good at all. This is sad as this place used to be excellent. Very disappointing and won't be back.

Having been here before and enjoyed was very disappointed at recent visit. It was freezing, we all had to keep our coats on. Ordered 3 course lunch, was ok but clearly not "real" chicken. Did not opt for buffet and glad I did not. On passing it saw pink sausages and other food that did not look very appealing. Credit card machine was broken so only taking cash.Overall feel was not good. Hope they get back to the way it was before.

We would have visited here at least once a month for the buffet, but haven't been since Christmas. It used to be an all out buffet, however this is changed from half hot to half cold. Now, when I say half cold I mean a few bits of ham, chicken, some limp salad and some sushi. The cold sushi is right beside the hot food, so not being a fan of diarrhoea I left it. Choice of hot food is very limited now and the desserts are miserly. No longer value for money, I don't see myself rushing back here.

Try the baby spare ribs in capital sauce, awesome...The delivery man is a little nasty, as one time while I was in the resturant, one of the young staff members played an innocent prank on him by moving the bag of food while his back was turned... The delivery man spun round and hurled abuse at the poor guy calling him all the names of the day in front of the customers, clearly this guy has some daddy issues.

The food came in super quick time, so much so that I expected a few reheated dishes. What I actually got was the nicest take away I've ever had. Great value too. We eat here last year and were impressed. So much so that i booked a table for the buffet for my husband's 50th birthday. This time the buffet meal was a disaster. We lifted fritters that we thought were chicken balls, but staff had put the fritters in the wrong place. They ran out of a lot of the food and it was ages before it was replaced. Generally very disappointed overall and we couldn't wait to leave. Got a lame apology when leaving that they had staff off sick and had to get help in from elsewhere. Will not be returning there again.

so disappointing , the whole thing was aweful, from a rude Manager to being given another tables food to start with but we realised as one was put down that we hadn't ordered, from given dodgy drinks to the main orders starting to come which two of the group had all of theirs while we had our rice dish and nothing else . we finally got the manager to find out where the rest of our meal was and he then came back with the wrong order again. My two friends who already had theirs started to eat with out us only to find one of them was uneatable. when we all finally had enough and didn't want to stay any longer we fully paid, got no apology or acknowledgement from manager. will not be going their again, and will certainly let all my friends in the area to stay clear!!!!

Alarm bells were ringing as soon as we arrived and were seated by the manager. He was acting a bit odd and couldnt keep eye contact. Wish we had left then. The buffet was very very basic and was actually quite comical. We decided to just order of the main menu until we saw one of the staff come out and fill a plate from the buffet and bring it to a table as a main dish. There wasnt many dishes to choose from and we kept hearing other customers having to ask the staff to top up the dishes as there wasnt enough.when it came time for dessert we were stunned to find that what we thought were chicken balls beside what we guessed was salted chilli prawns, was actually pineapple fritter!! But there was only one, and it had seen better days and the peppers and onions from the dish beside had started to creep in. We could also have ice cream, which had been pre-scooped and was just sitting in balls in a freezer- not joking.I asked one of the waitresses if that was all the had for dessert and was told 'no we also have apple pie but we are too busy tonight and havent had time to refill the tray'.To our amazement she went into the kitchen and came out with a packet of Mr Kipling apple pies and placed them in a heated tray beside the pineapple fritter!!! Very dissapointing and the staff are a bit strange!

Went for Sunday lunch thinking it was an all you can eat buffet but turns out that's only night time. £6.40 for 3 courses which sounds like good value until you get your dessert. I ordered apple pie with ice cream and got one scoop of ice cream and a shop bought apple pie the size of a mince pie and my husband ordered the ice cream... He got one single scoop in a bowl which was the same scoop as I got with my apple pie... We expected about 3 scoops for a dessert entitled "ice cream." After discovering they don't do diluting juice we were charged £1.30 for a fairly small glass of poor tasting, flat, heavily diluted soft drink. We were served by 3 staff members, two of whom seemed friendly enough and the other who seemed to be the manager or owner who was very blunt and unfriendly. At the end of our meal when paying he had absolutely no manners and just told us the total for the meal - no please or thank you and didn't ask us if everything was ok. In fairness the starter and main courses were nice enough but by no means were there really generous portions. Very disappointed an we will certainly not be back. This was our first time dining at Dragon Inn Carrickfergus and by no means are we fussy customers - never having complained about a restaurant before but for the first time in our lives we are completely baffled by such poor standards.

Ever since I was a small child, I have been attending this restaurant for family birthdays and special occasions. I always remembered the service to be good and having not eaten here for about two years, I was keen to try it out again. Boy was I shocked! My happy, positive childhood memories of the place went straight down the drain. They do a good lunch deal (I can't remember exactly the price) and whilst the food is quite enjoyable, I have NEVER witnessed waitresses like this in my life! They stared at us the whole time and at one stage I put my fork down to take a drink and the girl was over asking was I finished. This is not acceptable service and it made me very uncomfortable knowing I was being watched through out the meal.

Called in today just before 3pm. They have a "special 3 course lunch" offer for £6.40 (from 12:30 to 3pm, every day). I was amazed by the menu for offer: something like 20 choices of starters, main courses numbered up to 58, plus 3 options for dessert. One or two items had a £1.50 extra charge (e.g. a prawn dish). Was the food good? For that price, yes. Someone with me thought that the sauce on their chicken in oyster sauce was "gloopy" (I'd agree). Their china cup looked "dingy". Beyond that, everything was good. The spare ribs and prawns in garlic sauce starters we had were fine. I had a main course of shredded chilli beef. We both had the apple pie dessert. It looked like the little individual ones like you get out of a packet; but we could not have eaten more. A generous blob of cream buried them.It was an amazing meal for that price.I love the interior decor. Very handsome wood panels, coloured glass window designs, real plants.Service was efficient. There's a huge car park outside, serving several businesses.I'd go again.I must add, the music in the restaurant was NOT the horrid, screeching Rianna / Katy Perry stuff that other places seem to like playing. Thank goodness! Something tuneful and suble played, and then stopped. The silence that followed was fine by me.

I had originally rated this restaurant as 'poor' but have grudgingly upped the score to 'average' due to the fact that if you can ignore the shocking service, the food lives up to an average rating.Have eaten in here twice for the 'all you can eat buffet' - the first time the food wasn't great, the service was non-existant for drinks, had to go and look for someone and ask to place an order (which they got wrong for both of us)Second time the food was of a better standard and the buffet table was replenished more frequently than it had been before, however some of the food was excessively salted - but the service remained consistently bad, staff seemed to struggle to understand what we were saying, got orders wrong, and then worst of all, a crowd of about 6 staff actually STOOD BY our table waiting for us to leave, lifting plates before we had finished with them.Last but not least, they could do with actually labelling the food on the buffet table so people know what they are eating.

This is an excellent restraunt with a real Chinese feel to it. I would strongly recommend the all-you-can-eat buffet for under a tenner per person! It includes a range of food they have on the normal menu and various flavours of ice-cream for dessert. The only thing I would do to improve the buffet is to label the food so vegetarians can eat with ease. If you are planning to go to this restraunt around the weekend I would advise booking a table as I have seen the restraunt packed numerous times before.

Had a great meal here last night in the "eat all you can" Dragon Inn, Carrickfergus. Food was hot, and plentiful, the only couple of criticisms I would have, are that none of the food is labelled so its a "take it and try it" to see what it is!. Labelling of the food would be helpful, given one of our party was a veggie, and ended up with some food which she couldn't eat - this would also help the restaurant save on their costs with wastage etc. The other thing which I noticed was that on occasion there were some dishes nearly empty, and the staff seemed slow to replenish these. However, we did not go hungry - I would recommend it to anyone, and at £60 for 4 of us, with drinks (alchoholic!), it was not expensive. By the way, I think they also do a "normal" menu for anyone not wanting the eat all you can.......

Lovely people and very quick and helpful service. Portion sizes were enormous. But sadly this was the worst Chinese takeaway we have ever had. The Crispy Golden Chicken was grey, resembling uncooked prawns. There were 2 pots of cold, glutinous gravy covering a couple of slices of meat - no idea what that was. Chicken satay tasted more like chicken curry. A complimentary bag of greasy prawn crackers sat on top.

Yau Keelocation-icon21 Kings RoadChinese

There was an event in the Whitehead Summer Festival where the Whitehead Suffragette Society had people in costumes playing the part of real-life campaigners from the early 20th century. When the guided walking tour was complete, some of the performers really needed food. Because it was Sunday evening both Jess’s Plaice and The Whistle Stop were closed. Salvation: the Yau kee, on King’s Road, was still open for business. Chicken and chips were the order of the day, and the hungry performers really enjoyed their supper from Yau Kee.
