We are so fortunate to have the Dovecote and Roosters restaurants at Morley Hayes just a few minutes drive away from home. Delicious food, waiters are very attentive, (thanks Michelle) and super nice atmosphere. Can totally recommend it and will definitely be going back again. Thanks NPaget

The absolute WORST! My family and I will never go back to this establishment. The food and service were awful.

The Dovecote serves a good standard champagne breakfast but charges almost double as similar venues without being double the quality, such as Makeney Hall. The service is also pretty poor to be totally honest - we've been a few times and we've never really felt that they're generally that bothered about being polite.

Tasteless coffee after a long wait to be served. This has been a problem for months now. Go elsewhere.

Lovely afternoon tea served by Michelle, can’t fault the service or food, restaurant impeccably clean. Plenty to eat and was able to bring home what we did not eat, highly recommended and would hope to visit again soon.

My friend booked afternoon tea requesting a Savoury option.On arrival & confirming our choice it was pointed out that Savoury content was part of the Tea. .Sandwiches nice,Savoury game pie & 2 small sausage rolls (warm & greasy), selection of cream cakes +2 small scones (cold) with jam & cream. Tea was served in a Large China T.pot which was extremely heavy to deal with on small table ,but no hot water jug.Consequently tea was very strong &tasted stewed. The Venue & Staff very pleasant & when we were asked if everything was ok we did voice our suggestions ie a Savoury option /cheese & fruit!! I would suggest tea served in single smaller t.pots as you would normally get as this 2 single Afternoon teas not A.noon tea for 2,hence the price £27.00 each.

My father-in-law held his 90th birthday celebration here last night. There were 20 of us. As before, we preordered our meals. The food was absolutely delicious and some people had steak which we thought would be difficult to get right for so many people. But the three courses were all excellent and main courses hot. Presentation was excellent. A word about the staff - they were amazing. Plenty of staff around if you wanted drinks etc and the whole evening went very well, no hiccups. A great evening.

We ate yesterday evening in the new Dovecote Terrace. Beautiful food, served as if inside. This was our first meal out to celebrate my retirement and had carefully chosen Morley Hayes as social distancing taken seriously. We felt secure and safe eating there.During lock down we had also had a few taekways from Morley Hayes which were of a very high standard and throughly enjoyed but it was brilliant to be back out eating in a lovely restuarant.Will be back soon

Morley Hayes has been a favourite of ours for many years. So today was our first visit anywhere following their reopening. The new terrace is very appealing but we chose to eat indoors. The food and service was outstanding and perhaps more importantly we felt very safe during our visit. The staff wore face visors which is better than masks as faces can be seen. The tables were well spaced out and there was plenty of ventilation. We were made to feel very welcome. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend visiting however nervous you might feel about venturing out again as we did.

We have been today to the Dovecote Terrace and what a lovely setting - dining al fresco- with background music - so nice and felt so safe with staff using PPE, everyone socially distanced - well done all at Morley Hayes

We have just enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch in The Dovecote Restaurant. Five of us chose different main courses and all agreed the standard was superb. As ever the staff were professional and friendly and took great care of all the diners.We all felt very safe and comfortable with the safety measures that have been put in place.

We visited the Dovecote Restaurant for "Afternoon Tea" and a Three-course evening meal on two consecutive evenings.The Afternoon Tea was very good with a wide range of sandwiches, cakes and various teas. It was very well presented and the staff kept coming along to ask if we wanted some more sandwiches and cakes.Both of the Evening Meals were excellent with a wide range of choices, however, perhaps the waiter/waitress should have explained that with certain choices of meals then Vegetables are classed as being an addition. For the second night, we had got it sorted and everything was fine with a more balanced meal.The quality and presentation of the food were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they would go the extra mile to ensure their guests had enjoyed their Dotcote Restaurant experience.All being well we will be visiting this restaurant again in the near future.

Excellent excellent excellent!Everything from start to finish was perfect, from pre dinner cocktails to cheese board with port to finish.Hake was perfectly cooked, and my wife had pakora sea bass to start, well seasoned with perfect balance of spices.Wine, water, two cocktails and three courses each came in at a very respectable £140Along with the friendly staff we could not fault what was an fantastic evening, we’ll be back again soon hopefully!

Celebrated my birthday with family today at lunchtime (4 of us). Greeted by friendly staff, perused the menu in the bar area with a pre-lunch drink. The service was excellent, we chose a 3 course lunch which was delightful. An unhurried, leisurely lunch. We shall certainly be returning.

Friday lunch with family which we do from time to time. The Dovecote is a favourite and today's trip didn't let us down.The staff are friendly and welcoming; the menu tempting; the service great; most importantly, the food is just delicious!The menu changes regularly and offers a great choice.It really is a lovely treat to visit this restaurant.

I had the privilege of being treated for Sunday lunch and was delighted with the food and service. A warm greeting on arrival, drinks were served in the lounge while we looked at the menus. Once seated in the restaurant the views overlooking the gardens and spacious dining area were ideal. I enjoyed the smoked haddock starter which was flavoursome and perfectly prepared. The roast lamb for main served with perfectly flavoured seasonal vegetables and paired with a fine Bordeaux wine. Pudding choices were excellent but the coconut and lime cheesecake was the winning choice. We were served by some hard working, polite and attentive staff notably Niamh and Jess who were both accomplished in looking after their guests. Great food, exceptional service and remarkably good value. Thank you Simon and team. 10/10

Took my fiancée here on Valentine’s Day for a champagne breakfast. What a wonderful experience we had! All the staff were so welcoming and attentive. All the food was cooked to perfection. Definitely worth booking for a treat!

My husband and I visited The Dovecote on Christmas Day with our mums. Food and service was excellent as always. We all had a wonderful Christmas Day thanks to all at The Dovecote.

Visited fir Christmas Day 2019, with my family. We have been eating here, every Christmas for the past 15 years. The service and food never fails to deliver, from when we arrive to when we leave everyone is polite and welcoming. Simon and hazel on front of house are amazing, remembering everyone’s names. You get a present from Santa, never rushed with your food and can order extra.

We visited here for the first time on a Friday evening. We were greeted by a pleasant male server who took our jackets and took our drink orders. We had olives and cheese bites with a our wine which were complimentary with the fresh bread at our table - all these a nice touch which makes the experience much better. The food was excellent and we would recommend having the set menu as it is cheaper and you get the same quality!

Enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea at Morley Hayes in the Dovecote Restaurant. Lovely selection of teas and sandwiches all served by an unobtrusive young man who was pleasant, welcoming and provided excellent service. We were bought a further selection of sandwiches and tea followed by homemade scones, cream and jam and a selection of small pastries. No better way to spend an afternoon in a lovely setting

champagne breakfast to celebrate my partner's birthday. Lovely welcome where our coats were taken, and were shown to our seats.

I've reviewed this restaurant a number of times previously, in February 2019 and back in 2017. We keep retuning, because it, in my opinion, continues to be Derbyshire's top restaurant. It serves beautiful food in elegant, civilised and contemporary surroundings (I think the main restaurant used to be a barn, but I stand corrected if that is not the case), with efficient and unobtrusive service. It's a part of the Morley Hayes hotel and golf course complex, in the middle of the Derbyshire countryside about a 15 minute drive north of the City of Derby.

Attentive, friendly, welcoming. Perfect service, astounding food and well worth the visit. Delicious starters, white onion soup is a must if it's on the menu.

As we had eaten at the Dovecote for our Wedding Anniversary in August, i booked for my Husband’s 60th Birthday with family.

Popped in on our way home for some food, not much to say apart from meh! Not worth the money and certainly won’t return.

Had the tickets for a while. Champagne breakfast. Well worth the wait and should have come sooner. All cooked and served very well. Coffee was very good. All staff very friendly and helpful. Slight niggle the table wobbled. Did not spoil the meal. Will go again.

We wanted a special meal for our 20th wedding anniversary and reading other reviews, this was the place.

Visited on 1st December for Xmas lunch with a friend. Could have eaten everything that was on the menu but chose salmon, beef, then chocolate mousse. Food was excellent and couldn’t fault it at all. Also has a nice bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Service was good and we were not rushed at all. Not been for a while but will definitely be making a return visit after Xmas.
