Donnelli's Pizzaria in Norwich

Me and my partner went here for some lunch. We both ordered a large pizza, one Roma and one Sorrento. I would go as far as saying it was some of the best pizza I have ever had! Highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again when we are next in Norwich

We had a birthday lunch here and as soon as we walked in the door it felt comfortable. The smell of the wood fired pizza oven was really lovely. I had the Parma pizza which was so fresh and tasty. I had the large pizza so Di not have any room left for ice cream or tiramisu. My son had the etna calazone which he really enjoyed. The staff were very pleasant and overall a really nice lunch and we will return

We visited donellis on a Monday to celebrate our dearest friends 21st birthday. Safe to say this was not a fail. We had a spiffing time dining on pizzas and enjoying the Italian vibes. Would highly recommend. This is a fine establishment for food and beverages. Jules and stanner made us feel extremely welcome 🇮🇹🍕🧄😋

Had a delicious meal of freshly baked on site pizzas. Lovely staff (Jules and dancing Stanner) who were all very friendly and accommodating; gave us extra garlic dip for free. Nice atmosphere even on a Monday night with most tables full.

Visited with my young family for a homework assignment, researching different foods. Staff were very welcoming and really friendly and they really helped us out. Chef knew what he was doing and the pizza and calzone were incredible. Decent value for money as well.

Although sheltered away in a not so special looking building, almost hidden away. I would say it's a hidden gem of a pizzeria and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. All ingredients are fresh and pizzas are made to order, and you can tell. Friendly staff and fair prices. If you like pizza, GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY, worth it!

Still the best pizza in Norwich. Generous sized pizzas cooked in a wood oven, with a great choice of toppings and very reasonably priced. They have a special offer on week days up until 5.00pm, which is excellent.

Called here for lunch and had a really lovely experience. Traditionally cooked pizza, using fresh ingredients, all made for really nice food and a lovely experience. The staff were really pleasant and the service was prompt and professional. We will definitely return here on our next trip to Norwich.

My boyfriend and I both had the weekday lunchtime deal (£9.99 for small pizza and soft drink, £12.99 for large option) and it was absolutely delicious! We could see it was freshly made, the staff were lovely and friendly, and it was a very enjoyable meal.

I loved the pizza and they have some very good lunch menu offerings with very affordable prices. I would say it is one of the best pizzas in Norwich, with very varied options. The only bad thing is that when we left, we had a bit of a wood smell on our clothes and hair. As a point for improvement, I would recommend that they try to minimize smoke emissions towards the table area. Everything else was excellent.

Cheerful little family pizza restaurant. The pizza oven is wood fired and makes for a great crust. The menu is a set of variations on a theme, but the differences are tasty. The staff are kind and attentive. The atmosphere can be lively but not over the top. Not fine dining but mighty fine!

Amazing pizza, great service. Good was fast, large range of choice of pizza and delicious gelato for dessert. Wine choice was basic but the white wine was very nice. Bookings needed for Friday night. Many people turned away.

Donelli’s Pizzeria does some of the best pizza I have had in Norwich. I have visited a couple of times over the past couple of years and each time the pizza is cooked wonderfully. The lunch time meal deal is very good and the option of having a smaller pizza or a larger one is good to have. The garlic and chilli oil that’s served with the pizza goes really well and i would highly recommend the doughballs with garlic butter😋.The staff are all friendly and efficient.

Wonderful atmosphere. Was seen to immediately even though the place was packed. Had options for Gluten-free which were provided easily. I had a very large pizza. Amazing service ❤️. Our favourite pizza place in the city.

Popped in her for some lunch, and the food was amazing had the week day deal large pizza and soft drink for £12.99. Super fast service, friendly staff, would recommend.

Lovely restaurant! One of the best Pizza places in Norwich!!

This is a great pizzeria with authentically-cooked pizza and a genuine dough base. I ordered the large Torino which consisted of a tomato base, anchovies, plenty of olives and a large dose of mozzarella. This, with a glass of red wine cost £13.99. I've eaten at other pizzerias, some independent and others chains, but this has been the best eating experience to date. The staff were busy, attentive and polite. Having read some of the previous of this pizzeria, it seems incomprehensible that a reviewer would complain of there being no barbecue sauce for the first-base topping! Would you go into a fish and chip shop and ask for sweet potato chips instead of potato chips and then complain because they didn't? There are some ignorant and rude people about.

Walked in to an empty pizzeria and told there were no tables as they were waiting on 30 guests to arrive. I asked what time are they coming and they said between 12-4 it’s 3.45 so I’m guessing they haven’t been turning everyone away since 12? I look forward to talking to management!

Excellent pizzeria on a wet day in Norwich. So simple, two fabulous calzones and drinks. Really good dough, with plenty of filling, cooked perfectly.

Pizza, service & atmosphere perfect! Can't fault any of these things, only criticism would be to add some sides or something to the menu.

The pizza and dough balls were exceptional. What ruined the experience for us was the can't be arsed, miserable attitude of the waitresses. I'd order again as a takeaway but certainly wouldn't eat in. Shame, a smile and helpful attitude would have pushed this review up to a four.

Big big fan of Donnelli's. Not been in many years since being diagnosed gluten intolerant, but was delighted to see they advertised gluten free bases both online and on the billboard outside the restaurant. Arrived for lunch today at midday as a group of 6 having pre booked, right at the start of lunch service. Ordered drinks. Then went to order my gluten free pizza to find out they didn't have any and we were meant to preorder to ensure they were in stock. It didn't say this anywhere beforehand. If gluten free is advertised, surely it needs to be stocked by default in today's market. The waitress looked shocked when we said we'd have to go somewhere else. And still charged us for the drinks we ordered and merely sipped on. Would have thought they would be free as an apology, as well as considering we weren't able to drink them. As I said, love the restaurant and the food was always great. Just don't advertise gluten free alternatives if you can't fulfill them. Went to Middletons next door and it was really great.

Nipped in for a takeaway pizza for my daughter. Ready really quickly, the most amazing pizza imaginable with the perfect amount of topping. Really reasonably priced and super friendly people. I’ve had a gluten free pizza here before as well and it was the best I’ve ever had. Will be back soon as the husband is jealous he’s not been yet!

Lovely and quaint pizzeria serving authentic wood fired pizza with friendly service. It was my first time trying out their pizza and I regretted ordering just a small one. I am definitely coming back with only large order from hereon and I am not sharing! 😝

Discovered on my last visit to Norwich, and returned because the pizzas are excellent and really good value. Also have good quality dairy free alternatives. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff.

Visited again after more than 5 years and just as good as it was then. Pear and Gorgonzola salad was fab and great pizzas too.

Our go to pizza place so we always like it there but today was particularly good, friendly waitress Eloise was communicative, polite and attentive, and the guy cooking pizzas (Stan) - definitely is really skilled and cares about what he does - really evenly cooked, perfectly cooked base and toppings just right! Yummy!

Loads of choice the pizza is godlike and takes about 5 minutes assuming they aren't busy but well worth the price and the wait

Came here with friends recently. We were seated quickly, and service was very friendly as ever. It took a while for the pizza to come, but once we got it, it tasted great! Overall, another very positive experience!

Absolutely incredible food, i'd go as far as to say best pizza i've ever had! Service was slow but fantastic it made me feel welcome, i did feel bad for the waitress as she was by herself so it being slow was inevitable and the place was super busy, but she did amazing! Shame you can't tip by card tho I'd recommend this place to anyone, I think it's become my new fav spot :) thankyou!

Absolutely stunning, authentic wood fired Pizza. This is a cracking little restaurant, and as a family of Pizza loving enthusiasts, we were all more than happy with our choices. The Dough Balls were ludicrously good... dripping in garlic butter, and it was great to have small Pizzas on offer too, which we all had. Keep up the great authentic work!

I took the 6 grandboys there after playing at Putt putt noodle I hadnt booked but they fitted us in My grandsons said it was the best pizza they’ve ever eaten!! And they eat a lot of pizza So we’ve booked in the 6 weeks hols for another visit

Very disappointing, they are rated so very highly so I thought I would try them and first time ordering from here, both the pizza and dough balls arrived stone cold. Won’t be going back!

Excellent real pizzas and service with a smile.

I am gluten free (coeliac) and my sister is vegan. We had a delicious meal here, the gluten free pizza is cooked in the same oven but on a metal tray and I had no reaction whatsoever so all good on that front, and my sister was able to have vegan mozzarella! Very reasonably priced and very tasty!

Went here for lunch with friends. Didn’t book but managed to get the last available table. Restaurant area was nice with fairly comfortable chairs. Waitress was excellent and tap water was available. The pizzas were Fantastic. Light fluffy base with just the right amount of topping and the best thing was they offered a choice of small or large. I went small which was a bit smaller than the size of a dinner plate and perfect for lunch. My pizza was actually delayed as the chef wasn’t happy with the first one he did. Wasn’t too much of an issue waiting but the chef is obviously passionate about his pizzas!! Great to have a fish option for topping as well - not many pizza places offer that. Only down side was the toilet really needs a proper clean, the actual toilet was fine but the walls and skirting boards need a proper scrub.

Hidden gem, really good homemade pizza and great staff

We were in a hurry so asked if we could have a pizza to take out, he said it would be no problem. Within five minutes, we had a piping hot pizza made and cooked in a traditional pizza oven right in front of us. It was delicious and we will definitely be going back. Highly recommend!

Bad service, didn’t offer more drinks, ask how food was, waitress apologised for “forgetting us”, pizza was over cooked so part burned. Wouldn’t return.

This was my second visit to this Pizzeria as my first visit was far more positive. Unfortunately, on this occasion, my experience wasn't so positive. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had booked a table (it was about 6pm) and there were only TWO other diners in the restaurant and I said no. The server then looked very doubtful as to whether or not they could accommodate, but we were then told it was fine.... Duh.... Only two other diners???. Now on to the pizza itself. The pizza was an odd/oval type shape (not round as a pizza should be) and it certainly wasn't even in cooking either. One side was more charred (how I like it) and the other was white. I'm from the Caserta province of Italy (next to Naples) and have eaten a zillion pizza but this by comparison was poor. Not sure if I'll return tbh.

Have been here more than once and the pizza is the best I’ve had from London to Norwich. Have been recently and ordered a calzone, the chef wasn’t happy with the way it turned out so decided to make another so it came out perfect, had to wait an extra 5 minutes but was worth it. Staff are great, service and food are spectacular! Solid 10/10. Highly recommend. Also do gluten free.

Really cheey staff, pizza has great crust and good sauce. Did have to break out the knife and fork as the base was pretty weak in centre. we visited on a week day for lunch and it was pretty quiet.

These guys know how to make cracking pizza - never mind the best pizza in Norwich, quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had whether in the UK, US or Italy. Great service too! Came back this week and they're shut at 8.45. Still great pizza but phone ahead to make sure they're open!

Closed at 8:40 on a Saturday night even though it says 10pm on the door and Google. Wish we could have tried it! Will update review if we catch them open. 2 stars because it smelled nice. Answer to question below: the door sign was switched to closed but as this seemed odd given the time, I asked inside and the servers inside confirmed they were closed.

We had a great evening at Donelli's. We had pizzas and and Tiramisu and both were fantastic. There were many choices of pizzas and the base was particularly good. Our waitress did a very good job with dealing with the flow of customers and was efficient and friendly.

Previously rated 5 stars..... Out of respect for the 50+ pizzas I have had from dennelis which have been delicious, I will give it a 3 star. The two most recent visits I have come out dissapointed. The staff were doing a good job but it's clear that they need another person to assist and tonight I just had one request that it was extra saucey as I am a believer that you should taste the sauce and it was so dry with enlarged dry crusts. Will have a break and review again in 6 months time. PS. The image attached is from a previous visit that was spot on.

Having been a chef most of my life and a trained pizziola is always tough for me to find a place that makes me smile and if day It's a 4/5 for Norwich. It wasn't amazing but it was ok. Service was efficient but not particularly warm. House red was good and served at the perfect temperature. The Pizza was good, great dough but, too much sauce for my liking which made the middle soggy but a very good balance of flavour. Rucola salad was just OK. Had the amaretto affogato for dessert and that was just OK too, no presentation or garnish, just a glass although. ice cream and amaretto never tastes bad. I was really excited to eat here and I understand booking for 1 is hard as restaurants have to maximise space but I was sat right at the back, in the corner, in an empty restaurant. The pictures online look warm, inviting and friendly but I didn't feel I got that

Just made our 3rd visit to this restaurant and its been excellent every time food is amazing good service and very good value.We will be returning again soon.
