The service was really good so speedy and the food was so amazing the bruschetta is the best food I have eaten while dining out and I don’t even like tomatoes until I tried this dish from sharing starters and now I can’t stop thinking about it love it here

The service is absolutely outstanding, you can tell that this is a family run restaurant - the staff could not do enough for us, totally on top of everything. The food was great, we ordered a large array of dishes and everything was lovely, can’t fault it at all. The food was on the pricier side but I definitely would visit again and recommend. I think the only criticism that I would give is that it’s a very rustic vibe (which is nice!) but for the price the restaurant could do with a bit of updating inside.

Came here for a retirement celebration and what a fantastic day. Really friendly efficient staff. Food excellent. Mussels to start were delicious, make sure you keep some bread to dip in the sauce. I had the chicken in pepper and wine sauce for mains with potatoes and veg, it was so tasty, and plenty of it. Make sure you book a table, you don't to be disappointed.

Decided to visit here as it was just over the road from our hotel and appeared to have very good reviews. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The waiter that took our order was fine, very chatty and informative about the menu and was the complete opposite of the waitress that served us. We ordered a bottle of wine and was asked if we would like some water and whereas every other restaurant that I have visited would bring you over a bottle of carafe of water, the waitress literarily plonked two glasses of water onto the table!! The whole experience after that just felt very rushed. I ordered a Bruschetta as a starter and stated that we would share this, I was astounded to later find out that one slice of bread with tomatoes and cheese was £10.50!! Within minutes of the starter plates being cleared the mains was put in front of us. My wife had Risotto that she was more than happy with, however, I chose the meatballs from the waiter's specials recommendations and once again was disappointed. 3 meatballs with tagliatelle, £19.50 wow!! And it wasn’t even that tasty. As the plates were being cleared away, we were asked if we wanted a sweet or coffee and I had to ask the waitress to give us some time to let the mains go down. Probably five minutes later the waiter returned to ask us the same question, so we succumbed and ordered the Tiramisu, which I have to say was very nice. The waitress brought over the bill, we paid by card and the waitress never said a word. Suffice to say we didn’t leave a tip.

Edit: It’s been a year and I’m still fuming about how poor this place is. This is the second time I have been so I feel like this is a good reflection of the service here. The food: we were a table of 7 and honestly there were maybe 1-2 dishes which would justify the price. The portion sizes were minuscule and of middling quality; not bad and you wouldn’t complain if you bought them as part of a meal deal at a super market. How you can justify £23 for Polo Milanese which was an undercooked soggy chicken breast and a child’s handful of pasta covered in tomato sauce? £15 quid for 5 small ravioli stuffed with cold grainy cheese and covered in tomato sauce. If you are going to charge such exorbitant money for very average food, at least make sure there is volume there to compensate for the quality. It almost feels like the chef quit and they’ve been heating up Iceland frozen meals until they can fine someone else. The service: there was plenty off staff on the night we went and about 50% capacity of tables yet this was still made to look strained. Twice we had an order for food or drinks taken down by a boy without writing it down and then simply forgotten about. Only to be picked up by the next person to ask if we needed anything. For the price we paid for the meal we could have flown to Italy.

I've been waiting a while to visit this place after reading mostly positive reviews. I downloaded the menu from their site to get prepared for what I would order. When we booked we requested a quiet table as neither the wife or i are fond of loud folk and big crowds. The room itself is very loud and we struggled to hear ourselves think, we were surrounded by really loud folk talking about their holidays, nights out and all sorts of nonsense we didn't have any interest in. A young guy appeared and started talking to the folk about his holidays too, it turns out he worked there, mental. At this point our quiet night out was officially pumped and we decided to try to get someone's attention to order food, as we had been waiting a fair bit of time since receiving our drinks about 20 mins! The young guy appeared after a while and told us about specials, when he left we had to get a waitress back to go over them as we had forgot them all. We ordered two specials meatballs and canneloni. When the meatballs arrived I was disappointed to find hardly any spaghetti or meatballs about half an average portion with loads of tomato sauce. My wife's canneloni was the same about half a plate of food. The food itself was okay but nothing special so we thought maybe the desserts would be an improvement so we both ordered homemade tiramisu. We were informed that they dont make it till later in the week so we had to order something else, I got afogato which is just ice cream with some cold espresso over it, the wife got an apple pie slice. Again the desserts were just okay nothing special so we asked for the bill as we had to go to a football match and we had already been there too long, 1hr 45 mins roughly since parking outside. The bill was shocking £70 without a tip for two small courses each one beer and a fruit juice. All the prices were different from the menu on their website £14 for a beer and a fruit juice mocktail! On average you'd expect to pay half these prices in Glasgow at any good Italian like la Fiorentina or Piccolo mondo and you'd certainly not be hungry when you left. Still stunned and hungry I bought 2 pies at the stadium and a bovril and felt a bit better. Shame!

Decided to go here for a family dinner on a whim after reading good reviews. The first thing that hits you is the cheapness of the decor. As you walk down the entrance stairs, you're greeted by a banister adorned with plastic flowers and a tacky statue standing in the courtyard before entering a PVC door more suited to a conservatory than a supposed establishment of fine dining. The tablecloths in the main dining area were those thin papery red-and-white checkered picnic ones you can buy in bulk and just felt cheap. There's an attempt to add a feeling of history and sociability to the room by the inclusion of photographs of previous diners at the restaurant on the walls which is a very nice touch, but the fact that they're unframed and literally stapled to the walls again adds to the cheap, second-thought nature of the decor. Looking at the menu, we were surprised by the hike in price between items. the mostly reasonably priced being followed by ones that shot up massively, jumping from £15 - £20 right up to £50 + with no in-between. We decided to order the bruschetta as a starter and the penne salsicce as a main with side order of mozzarella and tomato salad. While the bruschetta was nice, flavourful and filling, the same could not be said for the pasta. The tomato sauce was bland and flavourless and the sausage was not the Italian kind frequently used in this dish, instead being more akin to the morning bangers you'd get in Sainbury's. The salad was similarly tasteless as well as soggy. Due to the disappointing and tasteless main, we opted not to have any dessert. We were shocked and frankly in stitches when a bill for just over £100 arrived at our table: there was no way that the quantity or the quality of the food we had just eaten was worth that amount of money. The only saving grace for Caprese - Don Constanzo is the friendly and helpful wait staff. They were attentive, friendly and pleasant throughout the entire meal. It's a shame that the meal didn't match the quality of their interactions with us. Tacky, cheap decor and tasteless overpriced food means that we won't be visiting here again.

The service throughout was faultless. Absolutely excellent. The quality of food was good and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The only fault, if you could call it one, is the specials aren’t on a board so you have your host telling you them verbally which means they are easily forgotten. Perhaps printing a menu or using a board would help with that as I noticed others within my area had an issue remembering as well. Another ‘negative’ was the price point. As I said, it was good food but you can get the same dishes to a similar quality for 1/3 of the price. All in all it was a good experience. Just be prepared to dip your hand into your pockets!

Before i start i need to say that the food was very very good and had it not have been the case I wouldnt have provided any stars. The garlic prawns, bruschetta, salcicce pasta and chicken and white wine were really all really nice and i would highly recommend. Other than this, I had a really unfortunate experience at Caprese Don Costanzo despite the very good food which was ruined by the service. I chose here for my girlfriends birthday due to the many good reviews and good reputation. I had hyped the restaurant up to her due to what I had heard so i felt a bit embarrassed afterwards. At the time of booking i informed it was for my gfs birthday and was advised to remind staff on my arrival. I did this and was advised by the older waitress that she hadn’t forgotten. We were then seated at the window (back right of the room) but It seemed like staff forgot about us continually and we had to repeatedly ask to order and have our plates taken away. We waited at least 20 minutes before even being given a menu which was really bizarre. It didn’t help that their didn’t seem to be one specific server who took charge of our table. There was plenty staff serving so im not sure why this was and it didn’t seem like any of the other tables had this same issue as we had. Despite reminding staff of my gfs birthday, the lights went out and a happy birthday was sung to a customer at another table. The lights then came back on and we were then asked for our desert order and i repeated to my girlfriend that she should choose and it was her birthday. Despite this, the waitress never clocked on and they served the sweet without any candle or happy birthday. Then we were asked it we wanted a limoncello with the bill and the bill came but no limoncello. I took the bill to the bar to pay and expressed my disappointment which i never like to do, and the older waitress overheard and apologised and said that she had forgot and that she had taken the cake to the wrong table. She then asked if we wanted it now and i said no thanks, that the moment had passed and we were ready to leave. Despite this she ran into the kitchen and put candles in a large baguette(?!) and brought them over to the table. It was nice that she tried to rectify the situation but it was awkward at this point and we just wanted to leave. I was also asked if we wanted a limoncello and advised that we had already been asked however it never arrived. Staff did apologise and give us a bottle of chardonnay on our way out which was nice of them but in all honesty the experience was a disappointment and it never really made up for it. The young male waiter who gave us it seemed to get the flack for it but in all honesty it wasn’t really him. All in all, we seemed to get it on a bad night. But the food was very good.

I never write reviews, probably something I should do more, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Don Costanzo. I really feel passionate about Italian food - I am a keen cook and I know what is good and what is bad. I have been to the majority of Italian restaurants in Glasgow and there are some really exceptional ones. I had heard from various people about Don Costanzo and that it was really good, so we decided to try it recently. Firstly, the food. I ordered arancini to start - this was one of the specials. Regrettably, they didn't have a specials board - the waitress ran through the options with us verbally. This was fine, as she was very informative, but one of the members of our party later commented that they couldn't remember all of the options by the time the waitress was finished speaking. Understandable - and most restaurants would combat this by having a specials board, or at least a print out of the specials at the table. The arancini arrived, and they were nice, good crunch to the outer layer, and the filling was adequate. They were accompanied by a pleasant "napoli sauce" as they called it. The arancini were the only thing to add an extra star to this review. Before I address the main course, I should advise that the pasta options on the menu contain non-traditional ingredients. The carbonara contains cream, and they state on the menu that the carbonara and amatriciana options contain bacon. The traditional meat to use in these dishes is guanciale, which for the price, should be expected. The minimum expectation is that pancetta would be used. I assumed though, that given the family atmosphere to this restaurant, perhaps they had stated that bacon was used so as not to confuse customers. I should also state that the price of these dishes is advertised on the website is £10.90 - this is not correct. If memory serves me right, they were around £13 a plate. For my main course, I ordered spaghetti amatriciana - this is one the staples of Italian cuisine and only the most careless or clueless of chefs would mess it up. As soon as it arrived, it was clear that it wasn't going to be good. It was indeed little clumps of bacon in the pasta. Poor quality of meat, tough and dry, with none of the slight crisp that you would get from guanciale or pancetta. The pasta was way overcooked, borderline mush, and the sauce was soaked in oil. The worst pasta dish I have ever had in Glasgow. Fa schifo! The table were all getting desserts, so I opted to get one. Instead of bringing out the menus as requested the waiter - a man with long hair ran through the options, and didn't bring us menus despite being asked to. We were going to share some desserts as we weren't interested in having a full one each, so we asked for 5 spoons. He failed to bring the 5 spoons, and when asked a 2nd time to bring a 5th spoons, he again failed to do so. I had tiramisu - again, the worst tiramisu I have ever had. The savoiardi (lady fingers/sponge in the tiramisu) was total mush. Who is making this food, a 6 year old? Terrible food, and terrible service - admittedly not from all of the waiting staff. Also, there is only one white wine and one red wine available by the glass. I would like to finish this review of Don Costanzo by pointing out that it advertises pictures of its' famous customers (majority of whom are Celtic/Rangers alumni) on it's website, instagram and on pictures which surround you in the restaurant as you eat - it feels like these pictures serve as a reminder that the elite of society eat at Don Costanzo, in an effort to assert itself as the major Italian restaurant in Glasgow. Quite bizarre. As stated at the start of this review, I am passionate about Italian food, and I can tell you what is good and bad. Oro, Celino's, Bar Vini, Joia - go to any of them for good Italian food! Do not waste your time or money at Don Costanzo. Easily the worst Italian restaurant that I have personally been to in Glasgow. Thanks for reading!

Followed Caprese on Instagram for a few years and food always looked fantastic and atmosphere looked homely. First warning should have been when we called to book a table the phone was answered by a disgruntled female who simple said “Hello?” So we just had to assume we had called the restaurant and not someones home telephone. Arrived on the day and were shown to our table by a lovely waitress (only reason 2 stars are being given) who told us the specials of the day and gave us our menus. We had a basket of 3 slices of bread practically thrown onto our table from whom I can only assume is the same female we spoke with on the phone. We did not order starters merely due to the cost and seeing what other tables got we thought the portion sizes were nowhere near the equivalent of the price. We ordered two mains, a side of chips, a half pint of beer and soft drink. The beef stroganoff was suppose to have fillet steak in it but there was no way on earth it was fillet steak. it was some kind of stewing steak at best with a small portion of rice and about 4 mushrooms, not what you expect for £29.50 a portion. My partners portion size was just enough to feed a child, again at £28 a bit ridiculous. The chips had a horrible taste of grease to them and we were unable to eat these. Would not say it was £60+ well spent.

Myself and my mum visited the restaurant before heading to a matinee performance at the Kings Theatre. The waitress who seated us was lovely but were disappointed by the service which followed. Before our visit I had checked out the Facebook page which advertised a 2 course lunch deal for £11, this was the option we were looking for however the woman who appeared to be the owner/manager told us they didn’t do this anymore when we asked to see the lunch menu- with no apology or offer to honour the deal as it was falsely advertised. She said she’d need to update the Facebook (the lunch menu is still advertised on Facebook now- August 2022). A few tables came in after us who appeared to be regulars and it was obvious they were treated a lot better than we had been, the service was much more attentive etc. As much as I understand small businesses appreciate repeat custom and loyalty, their custom appeared to be much more valued than ours. The meal we had was delicious and I couldn’t fault the food at all but the service was disappointing.

Was really excited to try this restaurant as it has such a good reputation and rating. I was surprised at the lack of vegetarian options, reading through the menu I found a couple of pastas I could have. The specials section was totally meat based which was disappointing. In the end I asked for meat free carbonara (something I have at another family run Italian restaurant and is always amazingly tasty) The waitress explained that it wouldn't be tasty as it had no bacon... I laughed thinking she was joking but infact she was correct and I was disappointed with the pasta. It was quite tasteless, not much garlic to speak of and had started scrambling... The meat eaters had hundreds to choose from and were much happier with their meals.

This restaurant has great character and staff are spot on. The food was great, no complaints from us (although maybe priced high in relation to what you get). Staff went the extra mile for us.

Il vero sapore di Italia. I’m so surprised by this little Italian venue. It’s charming, cosy and soooo blissful. Thank you team, Catarina such a great host. The chef Arturo soooo friendly and made my dish taste like at home in Italy. This Capri family will make you feel in the Mediterranean for sure. I’ve asked them to do our Calabrese way and they certainly delivered what I’ve asked for. DO NOT HAVE CARBONARA WITH CREAM. It’s a SIN for us. I’m passionate about this resto, thank you so much for having me, I do get why regulars become regulars. Here I am :-) a new bee. See you again soon!!! Lady BBellie the Captain!

Perfecto.

A small family style Italian restaurant - building has been here for many years - originally part of the old tram network, been a restaurant since 1994. Service was good, attentive without being intrusive. I had earth pizza which I thoroughly enjoyed. Mother-in law loves a lasagne - and is quite fussy - let's just say she cleared the plate - everyone was happy with food and enjoyed the evening. Would I go again - most definitely - I'd go later without the in-laws - have a bottle of wine & soak up the atmosphere, without having to give up the table, by 8 pm. All in all, a great evening - everyone left happy & in good spirits.

As someone who’s been to Italy on many occasions, it is a disgrace to call this place an Italian restaurant. Bolognese tasted like it was made with dolmio sauce and the pizza was overcooked with the worst base I’ve ever tried. Would never recommend going anywhere near this place.
