As regular customers you really let us down and we will not be returning as a result. Your standards have clearly dropped. Chips were over cooked and made with bruised potatoes? No batter on fish and really greasy!

Over priced, small chips and sausage £6 better chip shops in the area, last time I had fish and chips cost £14 and was very small for the money you pay avoid!!

The fish & chips themselves were lovely but the portion was so small, I didn't realise until I unwrapped them at the beach just hoe small the fish was, fir £12 it was incredibly disappointing, do not recommend

This is a basic chippy.and there is nothing wrong in that. Cod and chips good. Grilled fish less liked. I think it is above average but not very good. So between a 3 and 4 rating. Having said that, if I lived in Eastbourne I would go back.

We searched online for a good Fish & Chip shop in Eastbourne and the Dolphin Fish bar came up as the best. We visited last night and can confirm that all the 5 star reviews are justified, we were greeted warmly, the lady serving us was friendly and the food was really good. We had the Haddock and chips, the batter was just as it should be and the chips were good as well. We’ll visit again on our next trip and would thoroughly recommend you do to.

I've been a repeat customer as the food is so nice but I probably won't be coming back due to the customer service. Woman who serves with dark frizzy hair (the owner?) has a bit of an off attitude and we've had several awkward encounters. Very rarely have issues with staff when shopping/ordering food. Eg I asked for bbq sauce on my ribs and she explains to me what the ribs are like (which I know already) and says "I told you this last week" when there is a pot of bbq sauce behind the till! Bit rude and then when I actually compliment how good the food is to try and make things easier she says "I dont know how you feel about things" - like how weird? It's like she doesn't want me a recurring customer to actually be in there, unwelcoming, so I won't be

Visited on a Friday at 2.30 and it was surprisingly busy to sit inside, an indication of how good the food must be. We were warmly greeted and our order taken promptly. We both had cod and chips. The fish was skinless in a crisp batter and excellent chips, not a huge portion, just the right amount for lunch, so we cleaned our plates. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Eastbourne.

Not impressed with the unfriendly attitude of staff. Visited on a Saturday, in the early evening. Was turned away to eat in, despite all the tables being empty and was told they were all booked. Didn't appear so. Their only custom was a queue of people who were waiting for takeaways, not to eat in. Along, a completely over the top policy of only allowing one customer in a shop at a time, due to COVID. Ridiculous. I won't be going back.

we went in for dinner and had fish and chips and burger and chips as we went to the seating area the waiter asked us to sanitise our hands which was good to see.as we sat down and given menus the waiter who was a young guy then got our drinks and took our order. the food arrived in about 10 minutes and was hot and fair portions for the price.the only let down was the burger patty which didn't taste very nice.

I came here on the weekend with my friend, after a long day on the beach. It’s slightly off the beaten track, but well worth the 10 minute walk from the beach. The food was served fresh and quickly, we both went for the traditional fish and chips with mushy peas. It all tasted fantastic. Our waiter Neil was really attentive and brought us extra tartar sauce when desired. Overall a great visit, and would go back to Eastbourne just for this!

After reading these reviews, our expectations were high and we were all quite hungry after a day out walking. We ordered a regular cod and chips, regular haddock and chips and battered sausage and chips. The cod was small and was very greasy to the extent that my daughter ate a third and then gave some to the dog and fed the rest to the seagulls. The haddock was only slightly bigger but very greasy too. The chips were quite dry. The battered sausage was absolutely fine. Overall not the best fish and chips we have had and a little disappointing, would expect better quality of fish especially as we were by the coast. We should have taken them back but we had already travelled back to the beach to tuck in.

Usually, we get takeaway from Dolphin and it's fine, but with an hour to spare, we decided to sit in for once. My large haddock tasted so fresh and was beautifully battered. The huss went down well too and the chips very decent freshly made. All washed down with great tea. A real simple treat.

This place is buzzing. Walked in late on a bank holiday Sunday afternoon. The seating area was packed. Ordered fish and chips for 8 people to take away. Service was quick and efficient. Food was piping hot, crispy batter, not greasy at all. My only complaint is that the fish was a bit bland. Huge portions. Nipped back over the road to eat them on the beach while watching the sun go down. Perfect!

We were looking for good fish and chips and weren't impressed by the look of the well known national chain. Dolphin was rated top so we found where it was, slightly off the main road, and were so pleased. The fish is freshly cooked, the batter light, service was brilliant - nothing was too much trouble. You can even have plain grilled fish, which also looked good. They also provided a brilliant service to a group of mothers with their young children. Would highly recommend.

Visited on my own while I was in the area for a family reunion. Walked in the door and was greeted with a huge smile, so that was a big draw for me. Also noticed was how clean the restaurant was. The staff really tried their hardest to serve everyone in a timely manner, I loved that too. When it was my turn to be served, the gent serving was warm, friendly and incredibly helpful. The portion sizes were very good value for money; I paid £1.70 or £2.00 for a regular chips and the portion size was rather large. Very enjoyable, I hope to return here.
