Dolphin Cafe in Aberdeenshire

A small unassuming cafe right in the harbour. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of the fish supper & this is quite possibly the best I've tasted. The chips were good but the haddock was to die for. I can't speak for the atmosphere as I like to be outside to eat but I see no reason why it wouldn't be similarly great. Totally recommended.

Can't much closer to where seafood is caught than a major fishing port on the North Sea.

Based on Google ratings, I visited the Dolphin Restaurant and tried the fish and chips. The fish was decent, but the chips tasted like they were fried in old or poor-quality oil.

Fresh from the sea fish so fresh you could taste it . Service a bit slow. But it's cooked fresh so to be expected . Very yummy

Fish was unseasoned and oil wasn't dripped properly. Tap water tasted like trash. on the positive side, fish was fresh.

A delightful cafe in the heart of the harbour. Great menu. Good prices. Great service from the staff. Always visit when we are in Peterhead.

Fish and chips are ok but I've had better in Scotland. Ambience is simple. The guests are fishermen, dock workers and a few lost tourists.

Loved the salmon!! We got calamari & fries to start, was good too. Partner enjoyed his dish too

We expected more, fish and chips were below standard. Since we had the dog with us, we were served outside, where the food was served in plastic bags and cardboard boxes. Eating out of a cardboard packaging, tastes good or eating out of a cardboard packaging 🤷‍♀️ The price-performance ratio is in favor of the café here.

A brilliant little cafe attached to the shortbread factory that also has a factory shop.. Take note that on Wednesday they aren't open to the public

Fabulous fish & chips, freshly cooked in a nice location in the harbour area.

We had fish & chips that were ok. Not much flavour. And the Mac& cheese tasted like nothing and looked terrible.

A unique dining experience, right on the quayside beside the fishing boats. Excellent fish or seafood and chips, although the the quantity of fish could be more generous. Good atmosphere, always pretty busy, great staff, and a massive shark's head coming out of the wall to get you! A great touch!

I came here with my wife for a sit down meal. We had scallops and chips with a side of mushy peas. The atmosphere was nice, with back ground music which was set at a good volume that we could still talk over. The cafe was clean and the staff welcoming. The service was a little slow, but effective. The food was cooked to order and the scallops were divine. They are very easy to overcook and spoil but these were perfect. They were very tasty and delicately cooked. They have lots of seating and toilets. Great place to have quality fish and chips, cooked to order. We would definitely come here again. The prices are about average for the area.

My order was double fillet haddock. Fish was very fresh and tasty,chips also very good. Waiting for meal 15min.

Fish really fresh, very good. Dogs not allowed inside but benches outside. Our girl also got a free sausage .... bonus

Brilliant Café, first time we'd been, was invited by friends, everything was fresh, the meal was 5*, just like the Café and the staff, will definitely be going back......soon 😁🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

It's mostly fried food it's pricey for what it is but nice to get home made chips

Visit this fishing port and enjoy an authentic fish and chips lunch. The waiters are friendly and the portions are moderate. You can feel the cuisine of local fishery workers.

We visited on a wet cold Monday and were a bit disappointed with our fish dinners. Situated on the docks at Peterhead we expected the Fish to be amazing but I'm afraid it wasn't, I would say for the money it was a bit on the small side, overcooked and the chips were mostly little bits and pieces.The café itself is very nice but the service was very "can't really be bothered" Overall I'd say it was a let down.

Yet another delightful meal at the dolphin. Brilliant staff, always chatty and professional. Great with kids too. The food is quick to come out and is very well presented on the plate. Never feel rushed to leave, Great relaxed atmosphere.

Not as good as I was expecting. Not the best food or service

Very little ambience here and reminds me of a fast food motorway side diner. Still the Jumbo Battered Scampi with side salad and chips was outstanding for one reason - the scampi was langoustine! They were fresh, succulent and tasty. I will order these every time I visit from now on.

Delicious food and very pleasant staff. Definitely great value for money. I can't rate these people high enough. Went there on a trip to Scotland from Devon I was stupid enough to leave my glasses behind. After a phone call the manageress said she would post them back to me and would not let me pay her the postage. I'd say that's going over and above.

Stumbled across this place by accident. Nice place right on the harbour nice food friendly staff, it seems to do sit in and takeaway. We would most certainly revisit if in Peterhead again. August 2023

We were actually really surprised. We found this great restaurant in the middle of the industrial harbor. The food was really very good. Friendly staff and the prices are very moderate. It is disabled friendly (the entrance is a bit tight) and has a disabled toilet. We ate very good fish there in a sufficient portion. All in all, it was a visit we won't soon forget.

My wife and I both had double fillet haddock and chips Faultless in our opinion. Visited Wednesday afternoon so very quiet. Would definitely Visit again. Gavin & June.

Very costly for 2 suppers £19.20p. Had to wait ages for it. Chips were quite crispy. Macaroni pie supper is only £4.50 at Clerkhill Chipper in Dolphin over £7.00 .

Little fish and chips, a bit understaffed in my opinion. Fried scallops were amazing and also the fish was really good with a nice crisp batter, the potatoes need a bit of improvement.

Not easy to reach on foot. The food is okay, but you should choose large portions, otherwise you won't get full.

Ordered for delivery double fillet haddock and salmon suppers, fish was perfect fresh and crispy light batter however the rest was barely edible, chips were greasy stale cold scraps and curry sauce was lumpy and overly sweet, soggy canned peas

I was in Peterhead with my friends when we passed the Dolphin Cafe and we thought let's try it. It wasn't a pleasant day and the cafe was a welcome escape from the weather. The Dolphin doubles as a take away as well as sit in. We were very happy to sit in. We all had lemon sole and chips and it was so nice and a good helping. The girl that served us was very pleasant and we were delighted with our choice.

Good fish & chips. The batter was a bit soggy but the Haddock was really fresh. I will be back and hopefully the batter will improve. The Cullen skink soup was beautiful thick and creamy.

Lovely fish and chips in a clean environment, service was ok but could be doing with more employees in the restaurant area as the girls were run off their feet at the shop counter, nice views of the harbour, all in all well worth a visit.

I have been using The Dolphin Cafe for a long time and never had any issues. Take away ,delivery or sit in always been at the highest standards. Food is excellent and in my opinion the best in Peterhead. Highly recommend.

My most favourite place to go for supper. Fish is always fresh and beautifully cooked. In fact, best in Peterhead! Highly recommend to try it if you haven't yet 👍

Best breakfast in town but just missing the tattie scone

Had the double fillet haddock; fish tasted fresh and the batter was crisp and fluffy. Chips were alright, but nothing special. Staff was very friendly however and the portion sizes were generous considering the price (~£10). All in all a solid choice for good value fish and chips meal.

Great place to dine in Peterhead. Down at harbour. No way a tea hut for harbour workers. Place you can take family.

4 out of 5, not bad, good for an everyday fish supper. Price, good, a decent portion of chips and a decent sized fish. Wouldn't bother with the jumbo though as its not much more and the standard is a good feed. Batter is OK, not much seasoning, slightly soggy. Was quite an oily fish, bit more than I like but it was saved by the quality of the haddock which was very good with a nice flavour and good flake. Chips are OK, middle of the road, decent amount and no complaints there. They get a few bonus points for having a few different types of fish available which is unusual up this way.

Food was good, staff are lovely. Great place for a bit of lunch!
