First time visiting for Sunday lunch today and absolutely not disappointed Sunday roast was delicious service quick and polite atmosphere lovely will definitely return 😊

We had a wake for my mum here and it was lovely, the staff were great. We had a buffet which everyone enjoyed. We felt we were well looked after and would definately recommend them.

Brilliant great pub fab food excellent service

This is fast becoming our favourite place to eat. Not exactly our local - we travel about 20 mins to get there but it's so worth it. We have eaten there on several occasions, always at lunchtime. The food is always top quality and delicious. Staff friendly and welcoming and meals are reasonably priced. Favourites are bouillabaisse (fish stew) and the chicken and red salt loaded fries. The hot beef sandwich is not to be missed either! The pub itself is beautifully furnished, makes the experience complete. We will see you again soon!

Excellent every time we go ! Despite the cost of living going up this place keeps its prices low. You pay a lot more at other places for lower quality. Always a treat to eat here and never disappoints. Many places have hiked their prices and sacrificed quality. Not here, same prices and excellent food

Great food, warm welcome :) Very relaxed atmosphere, home from home. We have never been disappointed by anything on the menue and we've had many of the items. Good job we don't live next door, would highly recommend this place as its a gem. We went here last night 23.10.22, it's still as good as ever! 26.01.23 Just been for a meal and it was wonderful, still one of my favourite restaurants for sure! 12.11.23 Been for lunch today, so good, brilliant as ever. 🥰 25.02.24 Still an amazing place! Gorgeous food but always the same menu it never changes we stopped going for dinner as they kept putting the prices up nice selection of beers and snacks

Booked a table for 7 and literally couldn't fault it at all. Food was incredible and all 7 of us polished everything off! The portions are big and it's all delicious. Definitely recommend.

Last minute evening decision to go and definitely a good one. Although most tables were reserved the staff were quick to allocate a table for the two if us when we arrived. Service was quick and efficient with drinks and food. It took us longer to eat than it did to wait.... piping hot and tasty 😋. There was no pressure to go and the atmosphere allowed us to relax after a long day past. Highly recommend the D and P for food and a relaxing night.

I, along with my wife and her parents visited the Dog & Partridge at the weekend. It was our first visit (it is not exactly our local) but it was well worth the journey. The food and service were both excellent (I didnt catch any names of the waiting staff but they were all exceptional). We all ordered different meals and desserts and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for Mother's Day !!

We nipped in on a busy Friday teatime straight from work without booking. The team were really welcoming, happy to find us a table and the menu is fab! Thoroughly enjoyed both of our meals, great portion size, lovely wine 😁 and the price was very reasonable. 5***** HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Great service, great food, great atmosphere!

Food good, atmosphere great, service always to a high standard, only thing I'd moan about is if you visit regularly, the Menu is getting very tired, eaten off the specials the last twice to avoid this.

We live in the next village and our go to is the Dog and Partridge. Not only is the food and service incredible but they will always book us in last minute. Drinks in the outdoor area during the summer months are far too tempting. Keep up the fabulous job every single one of you do and good luck for 2024

Omg the ribs here are amazing. We have tried the fish stew, Sunday roast, hanging kebabs, ploughmans and have enjoyed all of them. The portion sizes are really good but we always end up with a take home box as too full x thank you

We were in the area and dropped in on the off chance of a free table. A busy and popular pub but loads of effort by staff to find us a table with wheelchair access. We had attentive service and the food was lovely. We all ordered steaks and they were cooked with care and consideration. We enjoyed a lovely meal in a relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely return to try out other options on the menu. All the food at surrounding tables looked amazing too! Highly recommend

We had a lovely Sunday lunch. The food was great, good service and atmosphere.

We had the burger and chicken skewer with fries and special chips. Perfectly cooked and tasted great. Excellent service. Great staff and owner. Chatted to owner and couple of the bar team. Visited on a Saturday night end of August, meant to leave this review then. Going back to eat again so it reminded me I hadn't.

Just celebrated my Mums 85th birthday at this fantastic pub. There were 13 of us ranging from 10 days old to 85 years. The service from the girls was absolutely wonderful. The choice on the menu was excellent, and the food was superb. You made our lunch very special for a very special lady. Thank you.

We have travelled from Cumbria and advised to go here . It was that good we returned a second time when travelling. The food and service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Called in on a Tuesday lunchtime. First time at this restaurant and found it very busy. Friendly staff. Drinks arrived at table quickly and likewise the food considering how busy the place was - there was a private 'do' in another room. Excellent food, with good sized portions. Judging by the food on other tables, it would appear this is the norm. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will visit again and highly recommend it.

Last minute plans, got us a table for 4 straight away on a busy Friday evening. Food was perfect all 4 of us had different mains. Large portions and great value for money. Definitely a new favourite. Perhaps wish dogs could go inside. (Only allowed outside) Understand not all dogs are as well behaved as ours though! We will be back soon!!!

Excellent food served hot and quickly, good water service no long waiting for drinks or food, good varied men7 and reasonably priced wines. Would definetley recommend and will be returning soon.

Really brilliant food. I had bouillabaisse, which I had last time I visited, and was delicious. My friends both had antipasto (on the menu as a starter but huge) and added chips so it was plenty big enough for a main. Warm chocolate fudge cake and brownie delicious. Good service. Will return when next in the area.

Visited Sunday, foods was great!! Lovely outdoor seating area. We all had different food and no one had any big complaints. I had the hanging kebab (just wished id of asked for home cut chips instead of fries) Service was a little slow we had table booked for 17:30pm, it was very busy, the staff were slow at taking our orders and didn't get our food till about 19:00pm when is had quietened down. would visit again but maybe not on a Sunday. our friends had been before and said it wasn't normal to take so long.

Went today for lunch, first time for a while, it was excellent. Our meals were hot, well cooked, the staff were lovely and pleasant, we could not have asked for more, loved it.

Absolutely amazing, I travel the country and eat in a lot of places and this wonderful pub is the best I’ve been to. The staff are genuinely friendly and the landlady is an absolute delight. Food is sublime and the Guinness is top notch. There is no rush and the atmosphere is perfectly relaxed, the service was prompt without being hurried and the food arrived promptly (after the usual small wait for freshly cooked food) the food and drinks are reasonably priced and the portions are generous. I can’t praise this place enough, I’ll definitely be back 👍🏼

It was Friday afternoon, we had just finished work, the sun was shining, and we couldn't be bothered cooking, so we decided to go for a walk to the Dog & Partridge. We had never been before, but had always said (when we passed in the car), that we'd have to try eating there someday. Well today's the day!!! What a lovely friendly pub, good beer, tasty home cooked food, and a nice relaxing atmosphere. 5 stars from us ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

We organised a buffet here to followr my dad's cremation on 25th April, we had no doubt that the food would be excellent as we have eaten here a number of times in the past but our only concern was ensuring that the three coeliacs (gluten free) in our party were catered for properly. As the majority of most buffets tend to contain gluten (bread/pastry/cakes) we didn't just want to have the option of crisps (some varieties of these also contain gluten) and salad as we have had when going to other peoples buffets. After a couple of conversations we were assured that the gluten free would mirror the standard buffet. Upon arrival the buffet started to be laid out and it was very well presented (e.g. mini cakes on small picnic tables), the gluten free was plated already which was very good as when there have been gluten free options elsewhere you find that people without the disease will eat from that selection. The buffet was very generous and everyone was complimentary of the quality, I particularly loved the pastel de nata and couldn't get enough of these (standard buffet). The only disappointment for my wife, who is coeliac, is that she couldn't finish her buffet due to a dental appointment a day earlier. I would definitely recomment the Dog & Partridge for a buffet and have no hesitation going back, all promises were fulfilled and expectations exceeded. A big thank you to the whole team.

Great local pub always welcoming fabulous staff

As usual we were greeted by cheerful, willing staff who are proud to work there. Seated quickly , drinks order taken and menus delivered by Rebecca whose cheery disposition makes every visit a joy. Our weekend visitors asked to go there for dinner as they had enjoyed previous visits so much. They live in the South so love and look forward to "Northern hospitality and good food" . Well done Helen, Stuart and the team they left praising you all again. The food was lovely , service the very best and the wine superb.

This pub is well appointed, inside and out and seems much larger today than I remember it from childhood - but that is many moons ago 😄. There's definitely more seating than there used to be, including some stylish outdoor options. The food was prepared with attention to detail and there are numerous appetising options to choose from, including some more common pub-grub choices but also some more gastro-pub style dishes. The atmosphere is lively without being intrusive - the place is obviously well liked by locals and regulars. Looking forward to visiting again to try some of the other dishes on offer.

We popped in for a couple of drinks at a place we were passing that looked like a pub after a trip out. But, I think this place is probably a pub/restaurant aimed at folk looking for a sit-down meal rather than the old school public bar. We were almost automatically (subtly) ushered to a table rather than the bar, but after a brief chat, we were allowed to nestle in the bar area. Nicely refreshed, we went on our way. To be fair though, the staff were friendly and the food did smell and looked nice

Great food, lovely place Steak pie was amazing

Went for Friday lunch, place was quite busy which is a good sign. Food was tasty and good quality and value for money. The only slight downside was the waiting time for the meals but that could have been because the food seems to be cooked from scratch and nothing is microwaved. Overall it is very good and if you go when it's busy try not to be starving but you need room to fit in the good sized portions.

All our food was excellent. I always have the fish mixed grill which is very good. It was British pie week and two of our past sampled then and pronounced then also very good.

Amazing food, had the beef Sunday roast and warm caramel apple pie which was a hit! Friendly & professional service. all in all would definitely come again. Apple crumble cheesecake is next on the list!
