Went for breakfast and my what a breakfast it was food was delicious and great value great service did not wait long highly recommend a visit

Went here for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was fabulous. The pictures of food on the website are really good but the plat of food that lands in front of you is so much better. I had the full English and it was amazing. Really tasty and well cooked. It arrived hot and I really enjoyed it. I took my youngest with me and orders a few bits off menu which was no trouble at all. We really enjoyed the chilled atmosphere and had a lovely leisurely breakfast together. I felt it was reasonably priced especially considering the quality of the food and cooking. Can't wait to go back for dinner and have one of the tasty looking lobsters. Ps the sausage were some of the best I've tasted on a cooked breakfast.

Went here for a Sunday lunch, I don't ever enjoy a Sunday lunch out. I prefer my own. I ordered the Lamb Shank, and my partner ordered the Trio of Meats.. nice veg perfectly cooked.. Really good food, first time I've enjoyed a Sunday lunch out in a very long time. The Lamb was lovely and just fell off the Bone, the Beef nice good bit of slow cooked beef and just broke away with the fork 😋 the belly Pork with Crackling so yummy and then the Chicken which was also lush. The only issue was the veg, potatoes and Yorkshire were Luke Warm but the Meat was Nice and Hot just a shame the rest wasnt the same, also unfortunately the Yorkshire puddings were over cooked but nice big Yorkshire puds if you like them well done.. The place itself is a cute little bistro type restaurant, nice and clean... The staff are friendly but not very interactive with customers, which lets any business down... I'm not sure what's up with people who work in customer services these days, but what happened to Service with a Smile 😃 ... We will still give it another go, but next time for the seafood, they had some lovely Live Fresh Lobsters 🦞 in a tank waiting to be picked to be cooked 😋

Came here for lunch and had the tapas. Went for three items and they had a deal with a bottle of wine included. I left absolutely stuffed and the quality of food was amazing. Lovely place with great service. Can’t wait to go back.

I had the pleasure of eating here with my friend for my birthday meal - the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent, Hayley was really welcoming and offered great advice about the specials board and main menu, we even got to have a chat with the chef and discuss the new menu - which we will definitely be back to try!

Had a lovely lunch with family. When I booked I was told about which seafood wasn't available that day - I appreciated this being made clear in advance and there were still lots of options to choose from. The food was excellent, service a bit slow but very friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Great little eatery with it's own trawler supplying fresh seafood, it got full pretty quick so recommend pre booking as a couple were turned away whilst we were there... Need to try it in the summer and eat outside on their quayside tables

Fantastic food and a great vibe

My husband and I came here on the 7th December. We were greeted by the nicest waitress. She took our order fast and the food came out quick. We got prawns in garlic and lemon, beef brisket, coleslaw, chips and onion rings. It was the tastiest food we’ve had in a long time. I would highly recommend it to everyone. We can’t wait to go back.

Great seafood... Seabass and langostines were delicious

Didn't find the exterior very inviting, but pleasantly surprised with the interior rather quirky. Went for Sunday lunch first time. Good selection on menu. Plenty of meat and good variation of veg arrived at the table. It was hot and tasty. Seasoned well, possibly to much black pepper for some. Would ask them to hold back on it next time. Again good selection of deserts. Fair size portions. Yummy! I would definitely go back. Would also recommend booking first, quite a few people had to be turned away. Popular place.

Highly recommend this place for a date night. We ordered the Angler Board for 2, 2 fries and the battered onion rings. (Generous fries portions!) Everything was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere gave cosy, intimate vibes. The place is tastefully decorated with a seaside theme. We’ll definitely be back to try your other menu options!🤤

We had a delicious lunch, the beef brisket was really tasty and tender and the kofta was very flavoursome. We'd definitely be back as there was a good choice of dishes which we'd love to try.

Great food but sadly it was one of those days ...the staff had lost our reservation so we had to wait for a table then they lost the order so waited a while for our food. Once we had our food it was superb, beef, lamb and a trio of meats were served in true Sunday roast style. The staff were great and a free round of drinks made amends for the wait. Very good value overall.

We visited Dodgins Yard last night 01/09/23, upon entering we were seen to promptly by the nice girl on the floor. After having a chat about the menu, she immediately apologised for the fact everything may be a little slower tonight (not a problem for us as was a date night). Turns out the reason everything was slow was due to some unforeseen staffing issues and she was running the entire floor of 12 odd tables herself (including a large party). Not only was she greeting people, she was also taking orders for food and drinks, serving food, pouring drinks and making cocktails, checking in on all the patrons, clearing tables and I’m sure a host of other things we were unable to see! Despite all this we received exceptional service from the place and would 100% return, the food was delicious. I would just like to give a big shoutout to lady as she was exceptional under pressure and a real asset to the business. We will 100% be returning! Hopefully we aren’t a bad omen!

This was an amazing night out for food we had the seafood sharing platter, it was cooked to perfection the butter dip was amazing and the staff were top shelf service too would definitely come back again the only thing we wished is there were more claws and lobster for two people overall amazing visit x

Tomahawk steaks here are amazing ,Gets busy book early you won't be disappointed. Also they have Neck Oil on Draft ,Beautiful 10 out of 10 for me 👍

Lovely little restaurant we had fish and chips and lamb kofta burger Fish and chips was nice The lamb kofta burger was tasteless as the mint yoghurt dressings was just on one side of the burger and not all over the lamb was not secend so was just mincemeat I was disappointed with the kofta but my other half like his fish and chips Will go back and try some of the seafood on offer Staff were very nice

Went for breakfast this morning with my dad, he got full English breakfast I got bbq brisket beef hash, me dad left nearly all his breakfast, said bacon tasted of perfume, one of his sausages undercooked and pink, toast came with no butter, he also said black pudding was rotten and hash browns, beans tasted funny as well, as for my bbq brisket beef hash, rotten, bland no bbq taste at all, poached eggs overpowering with vinegar, just a horrible breakfast experience all round, such a shame as photos look nice but food doesn't match, won't be back unfortunately.. waste of £25

Went today for my nephews birthday. There were 9 of us. We were served by Jade who was very pleasant. We had pre ordered so when we arrived we just had to order drinks. 4 of us had monkfish which was very salty. The rest of the party had steak, fish and chips and a sharing board they all enjoyed their food. Jade was the only member of staff on the floor she did a great job. We did enjoy our visit but disappointed with the salty fish.

Fabulous food, amazing service and dog friendly

The fish was still raw in the middle as it was a thick cut, but they happily took it back and replaced it with a new piece, which I must say was absolutely delicious. However, the chips were cold, dry and lacking any flavour despite having skins on them, and were tough to chew to the extent I just couldn't eat them. Sadly it made what should have been a tasty fish and chips supper by the coast a proper let-down. It has a charming decor and physical atmosphere, however this was let down by the music playing, which didn't feel appropriate for the setting, as it had more of a club vibe. I tried to give feedback to the waiter at the end of the meal but there was no sorry or indeed any sort of acknowledgement really of what I'd said. Instead I got the vibe that he didn't really want to be there.

Very disappointed with service. Took over an hour for fish and chips to come even though there was only three other couples in. Will not be visiting again.

Visited here 3 times now and never had a bad experience. There’s a great selection of food and drink to choose from. It is advised you ring up and book a table as the place itself is quite small inside. You will be required to pay a £5pp deposit on booking which is more than fair in my opinion. This is then taken from the bill on your visit. I have visited here both on a date night and with a group of friends. My only negative was that as a group, some of the sides weren’t as hot as I’ve experienced when going just with my husband, so whether that’s down to being slightly tougher to cater for larger groups… but it certainly wouldn’t deter us visiting as a group again. The meats and sides options are DIVINE along with the lobster fries (according to my hubby & brother in law). Staff are always really attentive too which is a bonus. Really reasonably priced for the portion sizes and quality of the food!

Went here for my birthday order came wrong x2 and was not able to have what I ordered they also gave me fish with with dairy on which was made clear was an allergy, steak also came cold and food was not worth the price.

I pre-booked and had to pay deposit for a double birthday celebration on Friday 5th May at 3pm, a time we booked because it was Coronation Friday on the Bank Holidayweekend. The primary reason we chose it was because it was the only place in the Newcastle area where we could guarantee that lobster would be on the menu. The 2 birthday boys and I arrived at, frankly, café decor - described in another post as "quirky" - and were met by a totally miserable and disinterested barman/maître d' , who we christened Mr Happy, and who appeared to be the only member of staff in the place apart from someone who turned out to be the chef, who was sitting at another table playing with his phone. There was only one other couple in the place and they were about to leave. I introduced myself and we were shown to our table, already laid with the cheapest paper napkins and cheap, almost tinfoil cutlery. There were no tablecloths and the tables and seating were literally out of Johnny's Greasy Spoon Café. We ordered drinks, 2 large g & ts and a pint of lager, and 5 mins later the barman came to take our order and it was at this point that one of the birthday boys decided he wasn't going to bother "risking it" by eating here and he would wait to eat something later with his wife. The other 2 of us decided we were just going to share 1 lobster between us - after all that is what we had come here for. As I said, we came primarily for the lobster which was on the menu at "Market price" so I asked Mr. Happy what today's market price was for the lobster thermador. He summoned the chef who asked us to choose from the lobsters in the display tank by the bar. I chose one which I imagined to be about 2kg. He picked it out of the tank, estimated the weight of it with his hands, and told me "could do it for 90". I thought that was fair and we ordered our lobster thermador with "proper" chips and Halloumi fries. We ordered another round of drinks which Mr Happy duly brought and then the meal arrived. We were each given a cheap 7" plate and nutcrackers and a fondue skewer. The lobster came cut-in-half on a cheap wooden board with a limp salad and an equally cheap bowl containing the "thermador" sauce. The "proper chips" and halloumi fries were in "trendy" mini frier baskets. The only reason for the single star I've awarded is for the lobster which, to be fair, was fresh and delicious, and the chips and halloumi were fine. The thermador sauce, on the other hand, was very watery and bland and we left most of it. At this point, 2 more friends arrived for drinks, which Mr Happy brought along with another round for us. It was then that I asked Mr Haopy if he would mind removing the empty glasses from our table, not one of which had been removed since our arrival. This he did with a petulant shrug as if to say we could have brought them back to the bar ourselves. He never removed another glass even when bringing the second round of 5. Long story short, the 5 of us had another 2 rounds of drinks and then "got out of Dodge" leaving the table strewn with dead glasses. Well over £200 for 10 g & ts, 6 lagers and one lobster thermador. Will definitely NOT be returning unless someone I trust tells me that the situation has changed dramatically. Overall, it was very disappointing birthday celebration and start to the Coronation weekend.

Small compact restaurant which offers fast friendly service with fresh dishes straight from the their own boat. Only a couple of lagers available but a good price.

Really tasty meal. We had the pan fried monkfish, blackened salmon and chicken burger.. Fab. Only thing to get 5 stars would be a dessert menu and maybe slightly larger portions

Absolutely amazing breakfast will definitely be going back

Me and husband went for Valentines night x We arrived a bit early and didn't have to wait long for our table. We pre-order, which was great, and all 3 courses were delicious. As my husband was driving, he opted for the Becks Blue and had 2 cocktails. The staff were great, and we didn't feel like we were rushed through our meal. I'm sure we'll be going back. 😌

First time we came we very much enjoyed the place and the food, but I feel that standards are falling. Our breakfast was massively overcooked: leathery rough mushrooms, tough poached eggs. For a tenner it left me very underwhelmed

Absolute rubbish, came down for breakfast and the place is closed. Quite clearly says on Google they are open. If you can’t be bothered to update your opening times on the main search engine everyone uses then don’t post your business.

Well all I can say is I was disappointed. I've wanted to go here for some time and eventually booked. I'll start by saying the pomegranate cocktail was lovely. It went downhill a little after that. Firstly we were told there were no starters. When I asked if we could have the dressed crab on special as a starter we told yes but it would be served with mains!! We went with it as we love crab. When it arrived there was no white meat to be seen but assumed it was mixed in. It was actually onion ( and something else mixed in but the waiter didn't know what) and was very bitter. Why spoil something as good as as crab and not point out additions on the menu? For mains we ordered monkfish and chips and loaded seafood fries which we asked would be easy on chilli. Unfortunately they were very spicy and I had to swap my meal with my husband. He agreed they hadn't held back on chilli but they were to his taste so not wasted. Monkfish was ok. They have a very good looking menu but in my opinion the meals themselves didn't live up to the descriptions .

Visited yesterday for a full English, so pleased we did. One of the nicest, tasty breakfasts I’ve had. Will definitely return to try the lunch menus.

Great breakfast and service along with plenty of choices

Attempted to book for an anniversary meal. Checked through Facebook message whether the restaurant was accessible by wheelchair, and was told yes one of the entrances was lower down so could be managed. Phoned up to book and was told there is another step up inside so no the restaurant isn't wheelchair accessible after all. Ummed and ahhed about going and trying to lever a manual wheelchair up the step and go anyway, decided it was worth a go, and attempted to book over the phone, only to be told a deposit needed to be paid there and then - bearing in mind we were booking a day in advance for a Wednesday, not peak restaurant time, and very little difference to a drop-in. Given the only reason we wanted to book was to ensure the seating location had enough space for a wheelchair I was none too impressed by the rigmarole and gave up, there are plenty of restaurants that don't require a half-hour of effort to book.

Disappointed and staff need motivated Been wanting to try this place for ages! Portion size was not as expected, the place lacked ambiance. What food we had to be brutally honest was like going to a brewers fayre pub chain! Staff were miserable and looked like the couldn’t be bothered to be there! My review is totally honest and the only reason why we write this for is because we are so disappointed! If I could post the photos of the food I would! More like a starter than a main 🤷🏻‍♂️ Save your money and go to spoons

Hi, We were really looking forward to our meal today after seeing your Insta posts. - The welcome was really poor by staff. No interest and blatantly talking about other customers - the lobster loaded fries were cold - we asked for the scritacha on the side as my wife isn't keen, but was actually all over. - The onion rings were also cold. - - No provision of utensils for the lobster - We were really disappointed considering how fab your Insta posts are which attracted us in the first place

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! We went here for lunch today ordered the seafood topped chips which were swimming in chip fat. Service was poor we’d didn’t even get asked if the meal was ok and when we went to complain the staff said that the chips were apparently supposed to be swimming in oil.

Very friendly staff, clean place throughout and plenty on tap. Food is also great.

Best gravey ever and the rest was lovely too

Evening was a bit disappointing. Food was nice but having chosen our food we were then told the prices were different £3 more each and that they were waiting for the new menus. This took the edge off ... either cover the old price with stickers and reprice or charge the amount written.

Food was nice, But we waited an hour for food after ordering I had to ask the waiter if he knew how much longer it would be. He did chase it up.we weren't given any utensils for the lobster claws or wet wipes, dipping bowl for the muscles I had to ask for something to wipe our hands. Once the food came we never got asked if we would like another drink so most of the table sat with empty glasses, we were a party of 8. They did come to tell us our table was booked out 15 mins before the other party was arriving and some of us were still eating.

We only get a takeaway coffee so can't comment on the food
